(2.5⭐️) This started off strong for me but lost me as the book went on. I liked the premise, and once these two got out of their own way, they were a cute couple. They definitely had chemistry (listen…these two were some freaky frogs.) The spice was enjoyable, even if eventually I was like, okay, we get it y’all are horny for each other. I also liked the friendship between Kai and Niagara for the most part.
The villains were dealt with pretty early, which actually made me curious about where the story was going because, hello…we’d already handled the major conflict…and very anticlimactically at that. There were a few smaller plot points added afterward to create more tension and drama but overall it was low angst. There were several scenes I wish we’d actually gotten to see play out instead of being told about them after the fact. By the end, I found myself skimming through some of the scenes because I just wanted to keep the story moving.
I also struggled with the writing style. Some of the dialogue was SO CRINGE, and the author’s overuse of “had + verb” became incredibly distracting. Every other sentence was somebody who “had finished,” “had showered,” “had sent,” “had cooked,” “had begged,” “had said…” 😩 Once I noticed it, I could not stop noticing it.
Overall, this was a decent second-chance romance with some things I genuinely enjoyed, but I can also see why it didn’t fully work for me. I get what the author was trying to accomplish, but between the pacing, unnecessary drama, and writing style, it ultimately fell a little flat for me. There’s also an unanswered question involving a side character that leads me to believe she’ll have a story eventually.
Kobalt and Kaimera had a secret relationship, but it ended when his career sent him out of the country. Years later, Kaimera is involved with someone else who turns out to be a snake which puts her in a precarious situation. After her testimony against said snake, her situation gets more dangerous causing her to be in forced proximity with Kobalt on his farm. Kaimera being in danger brings out Kobalt's protectiveness more than ever. Due their proximity, the communication and their connection, they are able to build their bond again. Kobalt and Kaimera being together was truly meant to be, and I just loved everything about them. I also loved both friend groups. I definitely want to know what's going on with his sister, Niagara, but I hope all of the crew get their own books as well. 😊 This was a really beautiful second chance that I thoroughly enjoyed!!
Egypt honey the way you penned this sincere, fine, fierce, protective man oowee. I pray every woman seeks and finds her a Kobalt. The way this woman still had Kobalt in love after so many years of not being together is everything, and the heart wants what it wants. Kai and Kobalt just fit together and their second chance at love even with everything she’s running from is beautiful. The extreme care this man is showing her on top of coaching her through their sessions and making a mess of her in the best way is top tier. He’s showing Kai every reason to choose them again. Her hidden secret hurts him but he in turn gets that TLC and genuine love from her as they put themselves back together.
A second chance romance that no one knew was truly a second chance. The way Kobalt pursued his true love even after not know what was truly going on was cute. Even Kaimera trying to keep him from crashing out was cute. My boy was retired and everyone who tried him and his could get it.
It was a beautiful book. Kobe was the man. He did what he had to do to get his woman Kaimera back. Yes, they had to go through rough patches. True love will always find a way to grow, learn, and discover what makes them whole. I loved how both of them healed. They had a great circle of families and friends. I would recommend the book
Tough decisions sent Kobalt and Kaimera in different directions, but they found their way back to each other. They were a good balance for each other. He showed her patience when needed, and she was his strength when he needed it. Their journey shows that sometimes it doesn’t hurt to spin the block.
This was a good second chance forced proximity protectors romance. Kai and Kobalt loved each other from a young age and life and dreams and goals got in the way but third times the charm. Kobalt was definitely all about his Kai and loved her unconditionally and would do anything for her. I found it hard to connect with Kai at times but I did enjoy their story. 3.5/5 stars
Listen, everyone needs a Kobalt! Someone who’s going to love you enough to see the fears you don’t express out loud. Every soul deserves to experience it at least once!
This was a great second chance romance. Kobalt gets a chance to get his lady back when Kaimera comes to his farm for her safety. Life took them in different directions when they were younger but now’s their time to get it right. I loved their story.
