Chilling in the best way. A love story with a dark twist..

4.5

A love story that will not only break your heart, but it will be relentless in the way that it does..

When you read a romance story you often find yourself laughing or almost tearing up at many cliche moments. Sometimes, those rare times, you stumble upon a romance that touches your heart and breaks into a million little pieces. HOME was on another level.

Melissa Pearl created a world that, I think, would make anyone want to delve into it and make it become their reality. With Rachel and Josh you get a glimpse into a life that you can LITERALLY FEEL with your soul. I'm not kidding. Their personalities alone are strong and different to one another, which I think is what made this such a fun read. I adored moments that they were so in love I was grinning like an idiot at their banters..

BUT. Having Josh and Rachel together? Their relationship is enviable in every sense of the word though with certain darker elements and sad moments which make it not undesirable but realistic in a way?

Love is one of the best feelings in the world. Once you have it or you know how strong it can be, it can make even the darkest of lives that bit brighter. Love is amazing, and when you find the one that completes that piece that you can feel all the way to your soul, it's incredible.

Love can also be the polar opposite. A completely downfall.

Love can destroy you at the same time that it can make you wish you never felt it..

With Rachel and Josh's story we get a glimpse into both of those parts. The good and the bad. It's a balance I guess you could say, but it wasn't fun, as a reader, going through all those tears, gasps, jaw drops and "nearly throwing the kindle against the wall" moments. It wasn't fun but it was worth it.

I adored every second that I was engrossed into this story. Only thing I wish that in my personal opinion could have been different, the way the story ended.. But I guess it wouldn't be an amazing read if the ending was expected right? I didn't dislike it, far from it, it just wasn't what I thought would happen.

Other than that, this story deserves so much recognition for creating a fictional world that touched my heart and soul in the most realistic of ways.

I loved how Josh was with Rachel, he is the type of personality that ANY girl would happy to have as the ONE, the last boyfriend that ticks every box you never really knew you had. My heart broke so much when she left him.. I didn't hate her for doing what she did even after the initial "why" reaction, because I knew that she would realize soon enough.. her mistakes.. She would grow from them, but whether Josh will be ready and willing to forgive her is a whole different story.

They love each other wholeheartedly, with every ounce of their fiber. But is love enough?

Is love the answer even when mistakes take their turn in tearing it apart?

Will trust be an afterthought when that is also you really have left?

So many questions kept ticking in my mind throughout this entire journey, and that's another part that I loved.

Before I spoil anything else, I just wanted to THANK Melissa Pearl in being able to provide an ARC of a love story that will forever hold a wounded part of my heart. I couldn't have asked for a better chilling story to get me through a certain time in my life and that's not sugarcoating anything. I cannot wait to read more of your work :)

3.75 stars -- While these books are all standalone, you do get something a bit extra when you read them all.  And I actually skipped over 2-4 the first time around, so after reading True Love and Rather Be, I was hella interested in finally reading Josh and Rachel's story.  And it's funny, b/c while I'm a romantic at heart, this wasn't a typical love story for me.  Which is not a bad thing, it's more that there were many other aspects that drew me into this story, and for once the romance wasn't the biggest part.

Both of our characters are hecka flawed, with a lot of growing to do, and in this story we see them as an established couple at the beginning, and then they end up on separate paths to do their own growing before finding their way back to each other.  The problem with this is that I didn't necessarily feel *quite* the same investment in them as a couple as I normally do in my romance novels.  It wasn't that they weren't super cute together, or they didn't make me smile...or that I wasn't rooting for them.  But it just felt a bit different than my normal romances.  I was rooting for them not because I knew much about what they were like together, but because I believed them when they told me that the other was their "person" and that they were their true love, and so I wanted them both to find their happiness.  Does that make sense?  Probably not.

As with most of the Songbird novels, I felt a smidgeon more for Rachel's story than for Josh's.  It wasn't that Josh didn't have his own path to go on, but I just felt more invested in Rachel's path.  Maybe it's because Josh was so bad with open emotions, I always felt like I wanted just a bit more from him.  BUT he really was the perfect big intimidating man with a marshmallow center.  I loved that he was so quiet and reserved, but would not take crap from anyone.  I loved the way he was protective of Rachel.  So many of his reactions felt just very young.  He was an interesting dichotomy in that sense, in that he had all this responsibility with the bar, but I felt like he still had a lot of growing to do with relationships.  Not that I could blame him with the heartaches he experienced in his past.  I really did understand why he was so quick to jump to conclusions, and why he turtled to protect himself.  And while I wouldn't have minded a bit more groveling on his part for the mean words he said to Rachel, as a man of few words I understand that was probably more than could be asked for.

Rachel also suffered from being young and naive.  It was PAINFUL to see her get taken for a ride...it's so hard being a reader and seeing all the pitfalls, and wanting to yell at your character "OPEN YOUR EYES!!  DON'T SIGN THAT!!!  WHAT ARE YOU DOING???"  But I could totally see how this probably happens every day to young girls with more dreams than common sense...  But it hurt to read.  And while it sucked to see her believing the threats, they felt real to me, and I could see how she would assume she didn't have another out.  I felt like the time it took her to figure things out was realistic too, even if it sucked.  I was happy with the turns that story took, and it was actually really gratifying to see her figuring herself out, what she was capable of, and what she wanted from life.

And I think that's where this story wins.  It's a love story where the couple really *needed* to separate and learn to stand on their own, so they could really understand what they needed from each other.  And it made that moment where she sings, and then the whole phone call part just so gratifying, I wanted to whoop out loud!!  I love when a climax is that satisfying.

I also ADORED the cameos from Jody, Leo and Angel.  That was so satisfying.  I'm sure it would be interesting even if you'd never read Everything, but it was like awesomesauce after reading it.  AND!  I loved seeing more of what happened between Nessa and Josh!!  That always felt a little bit unfulfilling in True Love, so while these are all truly standalones, you really do get more out of the experience if you read them all (and in order).  Now I'm going to reread til the end of the series!!  It's so fun seeing the little glimpses of where characters weave in and out of each book, connecting them all in some way.

Home is a passionately raw and breathtakingly brilliant dream of a love so all-consuming and scorching that deep betrayal, and bone-searing pain can never extinguish or destroy. What my eyes beheld was a love so truly perfect and utterly magnificent that not even its excruciatingly painful death could stop it from rising from the ashes to become the beautiful and enchanting phoenix of ancient lore. This power once given freely never really dies. Instead it transforms into an indescribable entity that lives on in the hearts and minds of those receptive to its gently push and pull. The human mind can never fully understand and grasp the overwhelming concept of love, so we have to trust and empower our heart to lead us on the path that love is calling us to walk. Only then will our heart find its mirror image in the one that was made just for us.

Rachel Myers is a strong and independent woman that has fought to get where she is today. Through sheer stubbornness and the gentle hand of fate, she has stumbled upon a life that she loves with her entire being. However, there is a longing within her heart that just won’t go away no matter how much time passes. When an amazing opportunity presents itself, she latches on immediately and throws her entire being into her long anticipated dream. Left alone and confused, Josh isn’t sure what to do. He can’t live without Rachel and yet he can’t ask her to stop pursuing her dream. Both are lost to the pain of distance and the heartbreak that follows the unspoken secrets between them. Will they find their way back to each other in time to heal the broken pieces of their heart, or will they return only to find that their once strong and vibrant love has succumbed to the pain and torment inflected upon it?

My heart was absolutely shredded throughout this journey. Nothing could have prepared me for the captivating love and the equally intense pain that two beautiful people would have to endure. Josh and Rachel stole my heart, shattered it, and then transformed it into something I never would have recognized if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. These brilliant characters have seared themselves into my very soul. What impacted me the most was that out of all the lies and deception that we see throughout our lives, nothing hits us harder or with more clarity then when we finally hear the sweet and entrancing words of truth. As soon as they rush from our heart and fall from our lips, a healing and refreshing spring of life bursts forth from our very being and brings with it unspeakable love and endless joy.

Melissa Pearl has thrilled and delighted me with her book Everything, and she has wrecked and ruined me with Home. I can’t even begin to fathom the beauty and genius that makes up this incredible author! She has proven time and again that she is a literary force to be reckoned with. Just the majestic creatures that rule the air, she is unraveling her impressive wings and showing the world why they should take notice of the creativity and power that flows from the depths of her heart and soul. If you want to find an author that will make you feel, think and experience more then you ever thought possible in one story, then please don’t wait to pick up one of her masterpieces!!

Rachel & Josh have a once-in-a-lifetime LOVE. Josh is afraid to say it and Rachel is afraid to believe it.

Rachel wants to be a STAR. The next BIG country singer. Following her dreams (or her mothers) she gets a chance in LA. But the evil doers of the world trap her into an impossible contract. She tries to comply thinking that she is protecting Josh. Her heart breaks everyday for Josh.

She realizes to late that Josh and the city of Payton is her home and her success in life.

Rachel finds herself in a bad situation and flees. Knowing she can't go home she runs into a nice young couple who help her get back on her feet (Leo & Jody).

Josh's character was sweet, brooding, strong, protective, and loyal. I feel for him right away. Rachel should have called him just to even say everything is great just so Josh knew she would come home to him.

I had a little difficulty reading this book because I ended up with a lot of anxiety while reading Rachel's character and the situation she got herself into. I felt it and that is a sign of great writing, however I feel that these situations happen in everyday life and it is a realistic story that could happen to someone you love or know. For me that made the story better. After I got through a couple of chapters with Rachel's bad situation and she found Leo & Jody I had renewed hope for the character.

Home is a story about promises made, chasing a dream, naivety, re-defining dreams, love and heartbreak, loyalty and forgiveness. It is the story of one young woman, who feels deeply indebted to a promise she made her dying mother, so much so that she naively gets caught up in a false promise of heartbreaking proportions and ends up finding out that there are more than one way to fulfill a promise and that sometimes the path to your dreams is not the obvious one.

Rachel promised her mother that she would follow her dream of becoming a country recording star and always sees herself moving from the small town she now lives in with her boyfriend Joshua, to the city, traveling the world and sharing her gift of song. Life experience and maturity are a wonderful thing and oh how I wanted to wrap Rachel up in years of wisdom and put an older head on her young shoulders. My heart ached for her when she left Joshua to pursue her signing career, only to be blindsided by a shark who had a completely different view of how her singing career would pan out. Even though she felt trapped, and her faith in happy endings was sorely tested, she never lost her spirit. Rachel was full of spark, she was independent and had suffered so much in her short life that her courage and determination were endearing. Unfortunately, for much of the first half of the book, I stayed on the cusp of really making a solid connection to Rachel. Her predicament was heart wrenching and there was a lot going on, but I think the pace was a bit too fast for what transpired.

Josh was the white knight in this story. He was protective and loyal, always wanting to make Rachel happy. His vulnerability, his reaction to Rachel leaving, his faith in their relationship, felt real and honest. I really felt for him when Rachel left. He cared so much for her and, while his faith faltered a smidge, he never really gave up hope that they would find their way back together. Once he realises her reasons for staying away, he steps in, and fights for their relationship, and becomes her saviour. He is working his way through his own issues and I liked the way his character grew and evolved. He really was the good guy.

I was so very happy to meet up again with characters from 'Everything' adding warmth and gentleness to the story that Rachel sorely needed by that stage. Their part in helping her heal and mature was touching. Watching her become a wiser young woman was the balm I needed to what had happened to her and, that she found solace in her own skin without relying on Josh made her stronger and my connection to her more solid.

Rachel has everything that she could ask for but she doesn't realise it as she's too busy chasing a dream based on her mother's last words. We travel with her to the City of Angels where she finds out that there is a dark side that she never even anticipated.

I really enjoyed this book and the two main characters, but I did have to remind myself that Rachel was making decisions based on an 18-year-old's perspective. She was very young and very naive and part of me actually wanted her to stay that way but another part of me was wanting to shake some sense into her.

I loved the appearances of Jody, Leo and Angel. It was a perfect cameo for them and I really hope to see more of all of them.

This story is well-written and with a fast-flowing plot. Another excellent book in the Songbird series. Definitely recommended.

Home has been in my heart for a long time. It's been so cool to finally write the story and see Josh and Rachel come to life. It's a tough journey for them, but I fell in love with them both as I watched them struggle, then finally find their way home again.
Before this book, I would have said that country music wasn't really my thing, but oh man have I changed my tune! The playlist for this book has become one of my favorites and I'm so excited to share it with you.

I really hope you enjoy reading Home, and fall in love with this small town girl with big city dreams and her loyal, lovable, swoon-worthy Grizzly Bear boyfriend :)

I love the fact that this book has its own playlist on Spotify. Whenever someone writes about music, I think it's important for the readers to listen to the songs. It helped me a lot to feel the energy of these characters.

So many girls go through Rachel's situation. It's complicated when you're chasing a dream, leaving so much behind, and suddenly things aren't as expected. [spoiler altert:] I'm glad she found her home after all.

"Home Is Wherever I'm With You" . . .

This is the fourth installment of the songbird series and the books only continue to rise emotionally leaving you feeling good long after you've finished reading. New characters are introduced opening up the stage for more novels in the making, but don't worry some of the past favorites make an appearance. Home is an emotional read that pulls you from beginning to difficult middle to the sweet beautiful end. Oh and if you're not into country music, like me, no worries Melissa Pearl does a fantastic job scoring this book with music illustrating the moment, so definitely que up the playlist provided when you read the novel you'll be glad you did.

Having promised her mama that she would make something of herself by not wasting her talent, Rachel Myers is itching to get out of small town, Payton. Rachel knows that after the hard time she had getting to Clark's Bar she should be happy with her waitressing job, warm bed, and occasional performing opportunity on the bars small stage. Plus on top of it all she has the boyfriend of her dreams the "Grizz" Joshua Clark himself. But she's restless feeling like she should be in a place bigger than Payton and fears her time of stardom will never come. Until a man from L.A. comes into the bar and offers to take her on as a client offering big promises if Rachel will return to L.A. with him. Joshua is immediately against it but Rachel's sees it as her big break. The only thing is could the L.A. opportunity break Joshua and Rachel apart? Is Rachel's dream really worth throwing away her home and love?

Overall, fantastic emotions, characters, plot, music I just loved it! The struggle Rachel faces of choosing which dream to pursue is something we might have all faced making her extremely relatable. When your dream is something you'd give anything for is it really worth it? Rachel found out in the worst way that it's not. Watching Rachel figure out her real dream was hard, but beautiful in the end and makes you think about about you're reaching for and why. Melissa Pearl did such a great job capture the despair Rachel felt as she got further away from home, that when she finally found freedom a reader can feel that fresh breathe too that she is free and can go home at last. So if you are looking for a book that will teach you dreams are worth working for but not worth selling you soul for and to not put things above those you love, then this book is for you.

Home (A Songbird Novel) by Melissa Pearl is definitely different from anything I've read before. It definitely takes on an emotional ride but you finish the book feeling really good about how everything turned out. Rachael and Joshua are already in a relationship when this story begins. They live in the small town of Payton where Josh is happy where things are. He loves Rachael and loves his town. What more could her want? Rachael is a different story. She doesn't want to spend the rest of her life in the small town of Payton. She has a dream of becoming a famous musician. She hasn't lead the easiest life and she has survived some pretty horrific events but she holds on to this unfulfilled dream and will do anything to make it real.

Finally Rachael gets her big break and leaves Payton as well as Josh behind but come to find out making it big isn't all that it's cracked up to be. She wants Josh back. She finally figured out that throwing the important things in life away aren't worth the risk of gaining what you want. Sometimes what your want/need are right in front of you.

This book has all the feels and you can't help but fall instantly in love with Josh and Rachael which makes her leaving for LA so incredibly heart breaking. Its also very relatable. People have dreams that they spend their lifetime trying make it a reality so when the opportunity for Rachael came she jumped on it. Watching Rachael struggle through the decisions and mistakes she's made is hard to read but it also makes you think and reflect on your own life decisions. At certain parts you can't help but hold your breath because of the pain Rachael goes through because she's far away from the place in which she wants to be. I promise you'll be able to breathe again by the end of the book.

Overall it was a good book. I loved how it's very different from other books out there. The relationship was already established and it deals with very real issues about chasing your dreams and figuring out what is important in life. It makes you reflect on your own.
Also, there is a playlist in which to follow when reading the book. I think it did a great job setting up the emotions and feelings throughout the book.

Rachel has it all! A steady job, a wonderful & loving boyfriend, a home, and safety but she feels as if one thing is still missing... following her mama's dream of Rachel being a famous musician. Rachel possesses an incredible talent of singing and playing the guitar beautifully along with a sweetness mixed with some spunk. She vows if she ever gets the opportunity to fulfill her mama's dying wish she will take it in a heartbeat. It means possibly leaving behind Josh the man she adores and loves with all her heart. Josh saved her! He keeps her safe but most of all he loves her with everything that he is. Josh is afraid he's not enough to keep Rachel here in his arms and he has his own insecurities that plague him regarding people he loves leaving him. Fate steps in one night in their small town or is it fate?!?! Rachel gets the chance she's been dreaming about... A recording opportunity in LA so she grabs at it with a quickness. Josh knows he can't force her to stay and risk her hating and/or resenting him so he regrettably agrees to let her go get her shot. Both are hurting when she walks out the door but this once in a lifetime shot can not be squandered. They each vow to one another that they will keep in touch, and be a couple working out any which way that visits can be made on both parts.

What does LA hold for Rachel? Is this dream to good to be true? Can Josh and Rachel's relationship survive the heartache and distance?

3.5 - 4 Stars.

**Home is a part of Melissa Pearl's Songbird series but it works well as a standalone.**

Rachel is a fighter. She's survived some traumatic events and a sad past. She's managed to build a comfortable and happy life for herself with a wonderful guy. It seems that only her own insecurities, an unfulfilled dream and a promise, stand the way of realising what truly makes her happy and where she belongs.

I liked Rachel. She's passionate, demanding and kinda quirky. I appreciated her 'country girl' charm and although I completely understand her need to chase her musical dreams, I really wanted her to realise she needs Josh.

I loved Josh - He's an interesting mixture of strong alpha and white knight. I don't think Rachel would have gotten to this point without his friendship, love and support. I did appreciate that she needs to be able to see the world and make decisions herself. As much as I like Josh, it became clear that he cannot do everything for Rachel, because she needs to realise how amazing he is for herself.

The story is poignant heartwarming. There were times when I honestly couldn't believe what Rachel was doing and I wanted to shout at her. On other occasions I wanted to give her (and tbh both of them) a big old hug.

I liked the secondary characters and it was nice to catchup with a few old friends. I also loved the musical tie-in throughout the book - I love books with playlists!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

This was such a wonderful Love story. I will warn you when
you pick it up make sure you have nothing else you need to
do. I could not put it down till I finished the book. I thought
I would pick it read a few chapter before bed. UM hell no I was
up all night. Next thing I know it is 7am and I have finished
the book. Also keep the tissues handy, this book made me
laugh, but it also made me Cry sad and happy tears. It is one
hell of a book. I loved every minute of it and when you add
the playlist to it when I reread it Pausing to listen to each
song it was mesmerizing. I love out hero Josh even though
he did not want to lose her as he loved her so much he let
her go. But Rachel was not treated right in LA, and it was so
heartbreaking the things that happened. I was so happy with
the ending of this book. the Last song is my absolute favorite.
It was truly the best long on the list. It means alot to me too
on a personal level. And the song Rachel sings from her
heart for Josh near the end had me in tears. and Melissa
needs to submit it to a singer I'd love to see it take off. Now
I am going to stop here as not to ruin the story. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it
when you do, they value your opinions too.

This beautifully sad story broke my heart. Rachel & Josh have not had the easiest of lives. They have loved and lost most people around them, and so when they find each other the love they share is all encompassing. I particularly loved Josh in this story, the way the grizzly man silently loved his woman and only wanted her success and happiness was devastatingly gorgeous. Unfortunately for him, Rachel had dreams she needed to follow and that left the poor man broken.

I couldn't guarantee if or when she'd come back, but that girl owned my heart and that wasn't ever changing.

I wept for him more than once. And also for Rachel who was so naive and so set on following those dreams that she got stuck on the wrong path in the worst possible way. There was a lot of sadness in this story and so many things that went wrong that I found myself desperate for these two to find their happiness.

The writing was fantastic and so heartfelt that it held me captivated. This was a spellbinding journey about finding your way home - because 'home is where the heart is' and 'success is living the life that you love'.

Rachel has always wanted to be on stage, singing in front of big crowds. Her mother recognised her talent and made her promise to pursue this before she died. Finding her way to Josh and his bar was the best the thing that happened to Rachel in a long time but her dream is still there in the background. When the chance comes for her to make her dream a reality she jumps at it and doesn't look back leaving Josh heart broken. But her dream very quickly turns into a nightmare and she realises that her dream is nothing without Josh but is it too late?

Melissa Pearl has created another amazing read and demonstrates the seedy side of the music business, preying on young women's dreams. Set against a back drop of some amazing music, you get sucked into Rachel and Josh's story. While you should hate Rachel for the way she treats Josh and seems to pursue her dream without any thought about what Josh wants, you can't help but empathise with her as her life unravels around her.

With favourite characters from earlier in the series making an appearance and a hint of what is next in the series, you can't help but fall in love with this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts for an honest review.

This is the first time I have read anything by this author and I really enjoyed it, actually I had finished it in just a few hours it had me hook, line and sinker. Great writing great characters and a rollercoaster of a story line I was only about 15% in when the tears started so be aware you may need tissues.

Rachael Myers made her mother a promise on her death bed that she would follow her dream of becoming a country singer and wouldn't let anything hold her back. But life's not a fairytale she's had it tough living on the streets doing what she can to survive.

Josh Clarke is her saviour he brought her in from the cold gave her a home a job and his heart. Josh has gone through some tough times in his life and finds it difficult to express with words his true feelings.

When the bright lights of LA come knocking for Rachael giving her the chance to finally fulfill her dream she doesn't hesitate and and jumps on that plaine leaving a heartbroken Josh behind, but will her new life be everything she dreamed of or has she just made the biggest mistake of her life?

Wow Miss Pearl has just put us through the emotional ringer with this book. It was sweet at first then it showed a dark side of following your dreams that is all too real. It was painfully raw whilst keeping it's country charm. Rachel is a beautiful passionate girl with big dreams and a promise to fulfill. Josh is a sweet handsome man who is strong and compassionate with small town dreams and a thriving business. Together they are full of more sugar then southern sweet tea. But sometimes following your dreams leads you down a dark path you never imagined walking. And it will take a miracle for Rachel to find her way Home. I was surprised when we get a special guest appearance in a wonderfully magnificent way. The introduction of a new friend shakes things up and hints to what's next to come. I can never get enough of this series and this book just proved how powerful Miss Pearl's writing, stories, and characters are.  She can feed your soul, break your heart, and give you hope.

***ARC Review provided by NetGalley***

This is my first time reading a book by Melissa Pearl and I can tell you that this won’t be the last. I love reading books where the couple has to hit a couple of rough patches and bumps before they reach their happily ever after. Home was definitely one of those types of books. Rachel has a great opportunity to pursue her dreams and she has to make tough decisions why she does that. Josh is kinda left on the back burner and he really doesn’t have a choice but to step back while Rachel does her thing. But Rachel soon realize everything doesn’t turn out how you expect it to. I enjoyed reading this book. You feel so many emotions while reading this book. I love books that make me feel and then have you thinking about the characters after your done reading.

Ink Angels Book Blog received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am not sure if Melissa was trying to mess with our emotions in Home, but she definitely did. Through the laughs, chills, heartbreak and shock, I did not dare put this down.

Honestly, I developed a love/hate relationship between the characters. There were times when I adored Josh and times when I could not stand him. It was the same with Rachael. Melissa's story always kept me liking one, while being irritated with the other. The relationship between Rachael and Josh is certainly one to remember.

This book instantly drew me in. I will admit, I am a sucker for books that involve music or a crazy rock band with a few very sexy members. Home has it covered.

Although I started the series with Home, which is actually book #4, I am definitely going back and reading books #1-3.

This is a really sweet story full of romance and longing. The longing for love and romance but also the longing to chase your dreams. I liked how the author made you think as a reader about your own dreams and if you should follow them or if your dreams are right where you are at this moment you just cannot see it.I totally get where Rachel was coming from the need to go and experience new things is so invigorating and makes you feel alive, but the fear factor of leaving people you love and comfort in what you know. I will not tell you the outcome but i could totally see both sides to Rachel and Josh and what they think. I will say i was wanting to bite my nails at some points as i did not know how the story would go, but i am very glad i read this book and i enjoyed it a lot

Rachel made a promise to her mother that she would do everything to make her dreams come true. She left home with her dreams and a guitar. Josh may be the love of her life but she made a promise. Josh loves Rachel from the moment he found her. He helped her get onto her feet. He doesn't want her to leave.
Rachel leaving for the bright stars changes everything. If Rachel ever comes home, will he forgive her?
Sometimes following your dreams is everything to you. I think there is a line you have to cross to succeed. The line should not include your principles. I think this was a good story. A story that is heartfelt and a quick read.

This book will tear not only at your heart but your take your emotions along for the ride too.

We meet Josh and Rachel. Rachel promises her mum on her mum's deathbed that she will move away and crack into the Country and Western music industry.

My heart broke when Rachel leaves her home town and Josh.

Rachel arrives in LA and learns very quickly that it isn't what she was expecting and is treated very badly.

On the other hand we have is Josh who is a good fella and is working through his own issues. He is absolutely besotted and in love with Rachel. He's very protective and fiercely loyal to his girl.

Will it work out for these two?????

What is success? Is it being rich and famous? A household name? Or is it doing what makes you happy in a place called Home? Home is more than a romance. It deals with the choices we make in our lives trying to attain success and happiness. How losing something or someone can open our eyes to what is truly important in life. To the true meaning of a successful life.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It held my attention with twists and turns. It was well-written and flowed easily. This is my first book by Melissa Pearl. I am going to read True Love next. I look forward to reading more books in The Songbird Series.

Rachel; dreams of big lights and fame.
Josh; loves his life the way it is with Rachel in it!
Sometimes it take seeing what love really can be to truly believe in what you have and maybe even change what you truly think you want! This story is about hope, promises, wants, needs and love, a love that allows us to forgive even when you think it's impossible! You never know what might happen life throws us hurtles to jump over but life is also to long not to forgive the people we truly love!

Melissa Pearl has done it again - she's produced yet another wonderful story which had me crying and sitting on the edge of my seat. Home is such a beautiful tale of one woman's search for stardom at the cost of everything else - but it was her dying mother's wish, so she has to, right? Some people do stupid things to get where they want to be and don't realise it until it's too late and I was so worried she'd never realise her mistake. The characters were so real, I felt like I truly knew them by the end. Actually, I wished I did know them, they're so damn adorable!

A story that begins depressingly but ends with a contradicting flourish.

I love both the main characters in the story, although there are times when they are just too stubborn for their own good. Each individual have their own beautiful personality that makes the readers to keep on reading.

This story doesn't only portray love but it also portrays the kindness of other people who are willing to help you without ever expecting a pay in return. It is not just a story about love. It's a story about love and life.

This is the first novel I have read by this author and it certainly won’t be the last.

The story was realistic and shows the dark, ugly side of fame. It makes you think twice about the price of stardom, and to what means some people will go to in order to reach the top.

It is moving, heart-breaking in parts but is also a story of redemption and second chances.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a story about young love.

FOUR STARS.

I love this series so much. Rachel and Josh are my new favorite Songbird couple.

Rachel faces the challenge of choosing her dreams or love. It's a very real situation that a lot of us face so I think that is why I loved this story so much. Another great read from Melissa Pearl!

4 1/2 stars*** This was my 1st book from Melissa Pearl and it was a great book. It was about Rachel and Joshua. Rachel had a dream of making it big in a big city. so when she got the chance she went for it. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way that what you got is just as good if not better so you have to go home.

Melissa Pearl’s “Home” is the fourth tale in the Songbird series, but you can read it as a standalone, I did. Once again, Melissa Pearl has amazing music choices. This one has gone much further beyond what she did in #1, and there are several yummy sex scenes. Josh/Grizz is a hottie. Love the mental pictures of him. Mmmmm! I liked that there was a connection with the #5 story, "True Love."
