I spent nineteen years saying no. She's the first risk I can't refuse.
The man who taught me these tunnels died in one. This city doesn't get to take anything else from me.
Then I'm ordered to partner with a surface engineer. Claire Donovan already has a plan to crack my city open.
She won't back down. Neither will I.
I tell myself she's a six-week assignment. I don't want to admit my people have a word for what she is…
And it doesn't come with an end date.
Now the men poisoning my city are coming for her. They should have come for me. Because I'm done being careful.
She's mine. So is this city. I dare them to try to take either one.
Read on for a high heat fated mates romance, a conspiracy that could cost a haunted engineer everything, and a partner he never asked for who becomes the first thing he's ever wanted. HEA guaranteed!
I've never been disappointed reading an Athenaverse romance story. This story drew me in that's about Claire our human surface engineer and Darius our Alzohn infrastructure engineer who are assigned to find the cause of the city's breakdowns. Going down below levels that hasn't been entered for years they investigate as our couple develop feelings and respect as they work together. What occurs when they find someone is poisoning the city and they are trying to stop them was an engaging story with likable characters. I'd volunteer to read and review this copy I'd received.
It’s always interesting to see how fantasy may actually be mirroring the other chaos occurring in real life. I enjoyed reading about Claire and Darius and their never ending fight against corporate bureaucracy. As the story focusses on a world managed by an ancient ancient machine AI but Claire and Darius figure out how to communicate with, the teamwork and fight against oppression began. Their persistence and creativity along with the support of wonderful people made this an enjoyable story to read.

Deep Alien Obsession by Tara Storm and Athena Storm is a complex and entertaining alien romance. Great suspense, political machinations, corporate bureaucracy and romance. Recommend.

The authors have taken us to another time and place to pull us into the lives of Claire and Darius. The heart pounding story keeps us turning the pages with connection, denial, danger, action and steam.

This was a really good book! The characters and the storyline is really good! Would have liked to understand some of the lingo better but that's just me.
