Paras, a poor girl who lived with her cruel step-mother and step-brother, becomes rich overnight after her husband, Rizwan, who was too old for her and owned a chain of hotels countrywide, dies in an accident and leaves everything for his wife. But is it really an accident? Rizwan's brother, Faizan and sister, Sawera doesn't think so. They are determined to take revenge of their brother's murder whatever way possible. Even if it means murdering Paras themselves. But is revenge really the thing they want? Or is it the huge amount of wealth that their brother left behind?
Nimra Ahmed Khan is a writer. Nemrah ahmed (also known as nimra ahmed or nemrah niazi) is a young pakistani novelist۔ She is the CEO of "Zanjabeel". Her first novel was published in Khwateen Digest.
This book holds a special place in my heart. It introduced me to Nimra Ahmad. and she became my favorite after the first read.
One Saturday afternoon of August 2016, I had finished my weekend stuff and had nothing to read. I asked my sister to recommend me something. She opened the pdf of Paras and handed over me the phone. I started reading, and got immersed in the story.
Nimra Ahmad surprised me. Her writing is best of both worlds, if we consider my loose definition of genres. It has romance, commitment, thrill, suspense, struggle, tragedy, drama all in one. Plus, the subtlety with which she describes the strength of the female lead, is awesome.
She does not lose grip on the plot, and the story unfolds in a consistently, one layer at a time. At the same time, she imparts bits of wisdom - this world and beyond. Sharing one of those.
Overall, a good read. I am addicted to Nemrah's writing now. Latest being Haalim, but more on that later.
An okay-novel, definitely not one of the greats. Half of the mystery is annoying to be honest, though, the satisfaction is there when all the questions are answered in the end (which many mystery novels fail to do; I guess, because the writer forgets mentioning a secret, hence, leaving it untold). Especially, it's hard to grasp the pensive mode of the novel, as I'd rather have the story in a flow, instead of in bits and pieces as presented here. Plus, Faizan's character is very weakly presented, having all-the-bads and turned good in the end. And the worst part is, when the mystery finally unfolds, as I'm always waiting for big conspiracies to shape even bigger one's, I am left with 0 murders+a happy family (Whaaaaaaaat!)
Just an incredible novel full of suspense with an amazing plot I'm literally in awe for how beautifully each character is shaped that everything sounds real
Though Nimra Ahmed's شانے ا چکانا remains the same But she can't use "she/he shrugged" cause it's Urdu novels obv.😂
*Spoiler alert* This novel literally had me go from this 😔 to this😲 to this 😊
Nimra Ahmed has a way of totally surprising you. Here I was guessing who the murderer might be and... The ending was totally unexpected but I liked it.
A good, suspense and light read. Its my 2nd book by Nimra Ahmad. I have heard a lot of appreciation of her books. She wrote this book very well and keep the suspense till end. But at different points i has stucked and started to re-read last paragraph because many stories were tangled with each other and different approach has opted by each character. Many question were raised in my mind those questions annoy me and disturb me in my chores and urge me to continue the boom, but all questions were answered at the end and these answers provide me relief and solve the mystery of mind. In reality, i have learn one lesson from this book, it is if time can change a person and convert him/her in weak or strong person but it can also change the sorroundings/people around. If anyone get rich all those people who left you or forget came back to be with the one also tried to exploit for their personal purposes. But to tackle with all these ill-judged people only self confidence and sincere person around is required. The ending of book was totally unexpected. And it create more charm for reader when a story end-up with positive approach. Many things were unsaid at the end but some unsaid and undefined stories are better then the complete ones. Sometime you perceive things in different and negative ways, because you have faced delima in past that has changed approach of perception. but all people are not same like all fingers are not equal, while apparently they look similar un appearance but internally have a different approach by the particular person. One can change the whole story and the mind if person who was taking all things wrong meanings.. Recommended to all suspense readers and those who judge all in same parameters. ہم بھی پہنچے کسی حقیقت تک اک مسلسل خمار کے رستے (منیر نیازی)
One of the biggest drawbacks of Paras is its pacing. The story feels unnecessarily stretched, making it difficult to stay engaged. Just when it seems like things are about to pick up, the narrative slows down again, making the reading experience frustrating at times.
The ending, unfortunately, does not do justice to the buildup. It feels abrupt and incomplete, leaving several key questions unanswered. The character transformations, especially Faizan’s, seem sudden and unexplained, while Rizwan’s motivations remain unclear. Additionally, there is little to no closure regarding the fate of certain antagonists, making the conclusion unsatisfying.
While Nemrah Ahmed is known for her thought-provoking and well-crafted narratives, Paras fails to meet the expectations set by her previous works. The weak ending and lack of resolution overshadow the promising start. Overall, this book left me disappointed, and I would rate it 1 out of 5.
Start phr bhi acha tha lekin twist bilkul acha nai tha. because it Nemrah's novel so i expect more. Ending was very rushed. Agar woh h achi likhi jati to novel acha ho skta tha 3.5 ⭐
I loved it! This made me fall in love again with Nemrah's books! So beautifully written that it felt like I'm watching a movie full of suspense and thrill! I don't think that I've ever read such a story that's written like this. A lot of flashbacks but how beautifully they were embedded between the story just blew me away! It's a story about those exploiting relationships that are very close to us that it's nearly impossible to walk away from their toxicity. WOW!!
Mujhy Sirf aik major twist acha nahi laga aur wo Rizwan Sahab ki mout ko ley kr tha.
Paras is not most exciting thriller but sometimes annoying. Paras is a Murdered Mystery novel By Nimra Ahmed. The main character of the story was girl whose name was “Paras”. She was alone lived with step mother who was actually very cruel. Than in young age how her faith turns to good she become the owner of many hotels and become successful business woman, but who was actually the boss, Rizwan Hayat. One night accidentally, he got slipped from the stairs and he died. When the news of his death went out his siblings thought that he was murdered by his wife for the sake of wealth. His brother Faizan came back for investigation while his sister sawera was only interested in his hotels instead of his murder all she want was hotel. Well story has much twists and mysteries. But I personally didn't find this novel a worth read. I wont recommend this novel.
A beautiful book, which is full of suspense, puzzling events, twists and turns with an unexpected yet beautiful ending. I loved the writing style and the way writer described the scenic location of Murree, is just to die for. The Character sketches are quite perfect too. I really enjoyed reading this Mystery.
The plot wasn't predictable and the couple had an age gap but still had chemistry and there scenes were beautiful. I liked the transition from past to present. I got the ending I wanted so I like it.
it feels like the writer is obsessed with second marriage trope and having a big age gap between the couple! 🤦🏻♀️ almost all of her books have these two things!
I had high hopes for this novel, especially since it was written after Jannat Ke Pattay. While it didn’t quite reach that level for me, it still delivered in many ways.
I absolutely loved the scenes between Pars and Rizwan — they were genuinely cute and brought a nice balance to the more serious parts of the story. The female lead was strong and assertive with everyone except her family, which made her eventual growth and the moment she finally stood up to them all the more satisfying.
The male lead’s brother was definitely an interesting character. I didn’t like how he treated Rizwan at first, but I appreciated the emotional shift when he realized just how much his brother had done for him. That moment hit hard.
There were a few unnecessary scenes that could’ve been trimmed, and while the plot twist absolutely shocked me (I wasn’t expecting that reveal about Rizwan at all 😳), I do wish the ending hadn’t felt so rushed. It needed a bit more closure.
That said, this was still a good, quick read that held my attention. I was invested — maybe not fully obsessed, but definitely interested.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Although I am a big mystery fan and this book definitely cannot be defined as a good mystery book but there is just something about the way Nemrah writes. Her descriptions of the places, and the characters feeling so real. The emotions are described in a fascinating way and I couldnot help but get emotionally attached to the characters.. It revolves around family exploitation, love, self-confidence, betrayal and the vile nature of human beings. The mystery kept me hooked until the end and I honestly did not have a dull moment. The ending came as a pleasant surprise. All in all, this book does not have a deep plot but if you like strong characters, good writing and an overall engaging book with a light mystery, this book would not disappoint you. .
Paras is short Novel and I like it but I am reading it after I had read Haalim, Namal, JKP so i think my unconcious mind did'nt get amazed by reading old novels or short novels I want more&more spicy mysterious unimaginable stories, but again&again repitition of past stories tried my patience hard, regardless this excusses I like Paras charater, Paras / پارسNemrah Ahmed
This novel is for relaxation. I really prefer everyone to read it. The ending is unexpected. This novel has no depth but it is awesome to pass our time by reading such book which refreshes your mind. I really read many other novels of Nemrah so I am comparing it with them so I gave this novel 4 stars.
Giving it 3 star, I know this is one of the starting work of Nimra Ahmed. But yes as a short novel its wonderful. Its based on the Murder mystery with full of suspense. The whole story revolves around the main character Paras, Although Faizan's character was not as strong as it could have been. It has great suspense at the end. But yes, this should be a great book for thriller lovers.
This appears to be Nemrah's initial writing phase, as it doesn't reflect her usual style. Readers familiar with her works, like Namal and Halim can easily discern the difference.
The only thing I like about this book is the unexpected twist in the end.
It was a nice read at one sitting. Short and interesting! As someone who has read many books with different plots I kinda predicted the end. You can try it out as you may find it interesting if you are a beginner.
that's a good novel i really enjoying but this novel is not like mushaf i mean it's not basis on Islamic perspective its a mysterious novel if you love to read mystery book then this one is good for you
