I recently found this at a mall book outlet and I'm so glad I did. This is a magnificent collection of recipes from the 50s and 60s. Many of these baked goodies are now undergoing a renaissance here in Australia and I'm so glad they are. Most of the recipes are simple and delicious, and within the capability of an average-to-beginner home baker.

I gave this book five stars based on just four of my favourite childhood cravings - and things I shall be cooking again: Orange Poppy Seed Cake, Featherlight Sponge (with strawberry jam and whipped cream filling), Jelly Cakes and Pumpkin Scones. Oh YUMMMM! A notable mention must also go to Jam Drops...such simple things to make.

I shall be baking my way through all 113 pages of this book!
