Rescued: Out of The Shadows

Rate this book
"How many animal shelters, animal rescue groups, veterinarians, vet-techs, volunteers, animal advocates, volunteers, foster parents and pet adopters are working every single day with passion in their hearts and tears in their eyes to save an animal? An animal whose plight would otherwise be certain death! The answer is simple – too many! These are the stories of animals considered to be the “lucky” ones. These are also the stories of their rescuers who have made personal sacrifices and gone the extra mile to save these animals. The happiness and joy they have brought each other goes beyond words. Adopt your next pet from your local shelter or rescue organization and make a difference in one animal's life! If you cannot adopt, consider fostering. If you cannot foster, make a donation and keep an animal alive. The love and gratitude a shelter pet can bring into your life cannot be measured in currency!"

B.K. Stubblefield is a writer with a passion for dogs and dog rescue. Her dog, Harper, inspired her Oak Creek series, so it is to no surprise that each book features a loveable canine. B.K. Stubblefield was born and raised in Germany, where she met her husband. Supporting his military career, she moved between Europe and the United States for many years. Now she makes her home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where she draws inspiration from the slower pace of small-town living.

The Devil drove down a rural country road in Pike County, Kentucky and left a squirming bagful of life to die in the wake of his acrid exhaust. Within this bag was little Hannah Mae and Honey Bea, and within this book is the story of their exciting rescue by those who have chosen to fight the devil in all his forms! These Kentucky heroes are a special breed known as Animal Rescuers and they, like those they save, travel in packs to be reckoned with.

Donating 50% of all profits to animal rescue, B.K. Stubblefield's book "Rescued: Out of The Shadows" not only spotlights many of those unseen innocent victims on the dark side of Kentucky, but offers you many exciting and happily tear-stained adventures in addition to helping animals like those you learn about along the way.

This book is a days read, but you will finish much later than expected as you linger on every touching moment of an instance on earth when good people trump the abusers and life wins the fight! The range of individual circumstance and rescue is widely varied. From the friendly and famous Mr. Frodo of Louisville, Ky. (underground dogfighting victim found mauled, duck taped and almost dead), Miss Rosie (victim of a drive-by shooting, amputee and now emissary to Mr. Walter Oster a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Detective) to an old school building transformed into a warm-hearted woman's dream and called Barktown Rescue.

In addition to your own enjoyment this collection is chocked full of great examples to read to your children as well. God willing, perhaps Kentucky's Blue Grass will less frequently be stained Red if they grow (and we become aware) to take action as have those good people in this narrative. I read this book and can honestly recommend it to everyone, most especially animals lovers. I remain ever grateful for this opportunity.

I would have given this book 5 stars, except there were numerous typos and grammatical errors which, for me, detracted from the stories contained therein.
