She will always be my bella mia… Even after five years of being apart, she still manages to affect me in more ways than one. Everything about her caused every part of my body to ache with need. As I tried to recall the last time a woman had stirred me to no control, Simone’s face appeared like a flashing sign. As much as I tried to part ways with my feelings for her, I just couldn’t. Seeing her at Donald Spillmore’s wake confirmed the undying fact…I’m still in love with my bella mia. But still, five years ago, I vowed to stay away from her. I needed to ensure that she remained safe. Even if that meant, being without my heartbeat. Yet, even as I made that painful decision, I vowed from that day forward I would avenge the day I had to decide between my bella mia and La Cosa Nostra.
This the is conclusion to Simone and Andriano's story.
I did not enjoy this book as much as book 1. I found the story quiet torturous to read even though it was riveting at the same time. I found Simone's constant rejection of Andriano hard going even though we understand what he did in the past was wrong, he was only trying to protect her. He tried his best to show her that she and their daughters was going to be his top priority from now on. I just did not feel the love from Simone.
There was a lot happening in the book, lots of twists and turns as was well as the set up for Nicolai and Reign's story. Although we get our happy ending, I felt that there was a lose end with Victoria because how will she keep Simone and Andriano's secret when she knows he was responsible for her father's death? May be that loose end will be clarified in the next book.
A good read but not that enjoyable for me. However, I know lots of other readers will not feel the way I do about this story! This is just one person's view on the story which I am sure will be a minority view!
UDATED REVIEW: Okay. 3.5. I just read the updated book and I have to say OMG, what a relief. This version is MILES better. Yeah, the cheesiness is kinda there and the dirty bits are still dirty (yay!), but this version is way less preachy and the writing is more succinct. Simone is not such a wimpy, whiny wuss and reminds me of the Simone I knew in the first book, and Andriano has grown up. I am looking forward to reading part 3.
ORIGINAL BASED ON FIRST UPLOAD. Don't let this man around any doors.
I was so stoked to see part 2 coming out that I one-clicked in 2.2 seconds. After rereading part 1 to go into part 2 smoothly, I immediately began noticing issues. For some reason Simone was more wishy-washy and not as strong as in the first book. Also, the religious tones were just so awkward next to the sex scenes. It felt as natural as talking to a nun about blowjobs. YIKES.
And can we talk about the OTT descriptions? I'm serious. Andriano went from being suave to being The Hulk. I lost count of how many doors he ripped off the hinges. There were also the issues of the timelines not adding up, a passage repeating, and changes in font.
I'm honestly not sure what happened here, but a solid editor and extremely honest beta readers are needed. This is an ongoing issue I see with many talented, indie authors. It almost feels as if the rough draft was uploaded.
While I was disappointed with this follow up, I'm not willing to count this author out. I'll be reading part 3.
PS, the breakout stars of this series has to be the triplets. They are going to be something else when they grow up. My bet is The quiet one ends up being shy like her Mom, but deadly like her Dad.
This book was a mess and filled with problems. There was a chapter put in their twice and you would think that after she revised it she would be smart enough to take it out. I tried my best to overlook the issues but the the epilogue just ruined the entire point of the book. It was disturbing and a completely left field. You manage to make Simone seem weak, took away the reasons we all loved Andriano and made us hate her best friend. A complete waste of time. You left us wondering about so many details !!!! You can't just introduces scenes and people to the story and then make it disappear with no warning.
That Epilogue!!!! You can't leave me hanging like this D.J. Parker! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I'm Dead... I don't know whether to wind my butt or scratch my watch.
This was a great follow up to book 1 in this series. But my heart is hurting right now. I'm scared to find out what that Epilogue is leading to. Maybe when I grow some stronger female balls I'll dive into book 3. But for now I kinda got to step away for a bit. But... Just.. WOW!!!
Based on books 1 and 2, I would definitely recommend this series.
Dipping into Sinn part two was well worth the wait! Very good and Andriano behavior? Totally him totally Alpha! Some of her antics was expected but laughable. She knows he is who is and gets what he wants. I truly admire her for doing her best to create a safe life for and her kids. Looking forward to continuing saga of this story. Proud of you DJ!
To be succinct, I liked the characters, but I really didn't care for some parts of the dialogue. In my opinion, this book had the potential to be a 5 star epic read, but it got mired in overcooked porn, lag, and squirrelly twists in the storyline...
Not to say that it sucked, but it definitely could have been better.
Once again I re-read a book that I read in August of 2015. I really thought everything would be resolved with a HEA. Again I was presented with another cliffhanger.
After Victoria's father's funeral, Andriano decides he still wanted Simone and intended to have her. He found out she was in North Carolina and he went there to get her. sHe even bought a house for "them". He had a couple of run-ins with Simone. She's afraid for him to find out about the girls. Someone's grandmother had a stroke. Simone's mother came and helped her with the kids. Adriano decided to go to Simone's and demand that she talk with him. Simone wasn't home but her mother let him in. He saw the girls and immediately knew the were his. Acelia and Jasmine looked just like him and Olivia was a perfect mix of He and Simone. He was absolutely speechless but he and the girls immediately fell in love with each other.
Victoria came for the grandmother funeral and gave Simone tapes to read about Andriano. For some reason Simone didn't listen to them until after becoming involved with Andriano and telling the girls he was their father. One night when she couldn't sleep she put in tape 3 and listened to it. She was so overcome with grief and anguish that Andriano hugged and loved her through it.
There were some issues that were resolved Victoria and her family was taken care of as was Andriano cousin, Vincenzo who was working to take the family from Andriano. Other enemies of Andriano was also taken care of. Adriano had set things in motion that Simone and the girls would be well taken care of it something happened to him.
Still no character development. Nothing was said about Simone's mother and stepfather. Did she go back to him? What happened with Victoria who decided to go to the District Attorney with her story? What happened? The story ended with a house covered in blood but no trace of Simone and her daughters. Nothing. This cliffhanger was worse than the first. It's been 3 years and there's no 👎Dipping Into Sin 3. Was the book about Nicolai written and did it answer questions or is it another cliffhanger? It's been three years since I read the second book and I never read another that answered my questions or resolved any issues. I guess I can live without knowing what happened.
This book was a mess. I was torn between giving it one star or two because this was a total disappointment. I impatiently waited for Dipping Into Sin Part 2 to be released only to end up reading a bunch of confusing and out of sync holes in the plot. The amount of times I rolled my eyes, shook my head or wanted to bang my head into the desk... Yet I kept on reading it. Why? Beats me. Maybe I was hoping for something, I guess. A miracle that didn't happen. All this back-and-forth between Andriano and Simone throughout the entire book got so old. Simone whining and whimpering was annoying and childish more so than the kids, they acted and talked more grown-up than the mother. Her emotions were all over the place and she never put her big girl panties on. I have to agreed there is indeed a passage of the story that appears twice, and it not a formatting glitch... You notice because the second time it repeated, the scene changed greatly. There is one whole chapter that came at the end of the book that should have been placed earlier. The whole book has chapters disorganized and needed editing. Nicolai's (Vincenzo) brother behavior and ending was left to be figured out by the reader. This book was so incredibly disorganized and poorly edited it was such a big let down and I wish this author would have stuck to her style of writing. There are so many things that go on in this book and it took away from the storyline. It feels like the author rushes through and skips over things that should be important yet we get a lot of unimportant details, such as Victoria complexion and Simone new hair cut. I know that Dipping Into Sin 2:Digging Deeper was a DIGGING DEEPER MESS and a waste of money!!!!
The highly anticipated Dipping into Sin 2 is here! I feel like I waited for ever for this book and I could not wait to dive in. That being said this was not as good as part 1, not to say it wasn't good but I was just expecting more of what we got from part 1 and this book was a little softer to me. I did love that Andriano and Simone found each other and worked thru there issues to be together.I really like how that portion of the book was written, she did not just jump into his arms and let him into her and her children life she made him work for it and I was really glad especially considering how things ended in book one. The disappointing part was how weak Andriano became. The one thing I love about our hero was he was All Alpha male in book one,he was the man in charge and took what he wanted , he reminded me of my favorite guy Giovanni Battaglia for Sienna Mynx' Battaglia Mafia Series, but in book two I barely recognized him. It's like he was rewritten to be soft and I felt fans of book one loved him just the way he was. All in all, I am glad I finally got see what happen with these two and I hope that if there are more books in the series they are more reflective of the man from book one.
What happened?!! I was so excited for this follow up... stalking her Facebook page... googling... I KNEW NO BOUNDS. And I'm disappointed. There was a page and a half that was literally in two different spots, not deja vu. The same exact paragraphs in two very different chapters.
Simone was literally all over the place and an emotional mess. I was waiting to see this strong woman but she was the opposite.
So why 2.5 stars? Because he ended up doing the right thing. *le sigh*
I highly recommend this sequel to DJ Parker's Dipping into Sin debut novel. Adrianno is back with all of the passion and protectiveness of a true alpha!! Simone holds her own as she vows to protect her babies at all costs. The writing is is very good as well as well written and believable scenes. The book is packed with plenty of suspense and action that comes together perfectly with the overall flow of the book. Great job Ms. Parker. I look forward to Nikolai's story!!
A long awaited second half just did not live up to first story. Although I enjoyed knowing that love conquers all...the journey did not fell authentic to me. At times during my marathon reading session the story felt disjointed especially during switching from the various voices . However, I will continue to support this author and read her other works.I just hope that the main players have more depth to their character, show me not tell me .
... for men that are in love with someone that their circle does not approve of. Andriano had been denied for 5 years of the woman he loved and will not be denied any longer. He was tired of the playing by the La Cosa Nostra code. He just couldn't pretend anymore. In the mean while Simone struggled to care for her daughters and did what she could to keep them safe. Her character struggled with the hurt she felt for Andriano's tossing her aside for the code but she did not realize he was saving her life. When he found her again and found what she had been protecting, he was determined even more so to make her his again. He said he would always find her, no matter. He was proud of what she managed to do on her own with the help of her grandmother and Victoria.
I was so hurt that Victoria chose revenge in the end. I just hated the ending. Even though Andriano and Simone got their HEA, I hated the ending. I'm hoping and praying the last scene was all a bad dream. I would love to see a Dipping Into Sinn 3 where it is revealed that this was all a nightmare.
D.J. Parker writes a good suspense story. I would have never guessed who the traitor was. I enjoyed reading this book. Andriano is a man who loved hard and true and will do anything necessary for the family he loves.
2.25 Stars 👎🏽. Where’s the romantic love between the protagonists? Where is the continuity of the storyline? Why are the paragraphs in the prologue used to introduce chapter 17. Why so many voices? This is a failed attempt by this author to fuse a love story and the machinations of sendicated crime. Andriano “the Don” Balducci is now the head of a La Costa Nosta crime family and thinks he has killed or gotten rid of everyone who would stand between his reuniting with the estranged love of his life, Simone Sinn. Five years have passed since Andriano rejected Simone to fulfill his obligation to marry another woman in order to strengthen his family’s position in the organization. Simone has left NY, become a registered nurse and is raising her’s and Andriano’s Triplett daughters. Andriano finds her and after several chapters of Simone’s senseless back and forth between yes to sex; but no to allowing you to be a father and husband. The proverable stray was having Simone’s best friend and godmother to the triplets become responsible for all their murders-except Andriano. **(4 of 11)** from 2017 regretted purchases.
I felt the chapters were somewhat out of order, which for me as the reader made the flow of the story a little discombobulated. After about 4 chapters I got into the grove over the story. Andriano was certainly redeemed in part 2. He gave up Simone to save her life and as a result saved the lives of his children. Nicolai continues to be his stand up right hand man he was in part one. Vincenzo continues to be the jealous ass he was in the first book. I wished the story went a little further in detail on how the scene played out with Andriano, Nicolai, Vincenzo and Battista in the basement. The author skipped over some crucial scenes there. Hopefully it will be addressed in Nicolai and Reign's story.
I think this book needs to be re-edited. I don't think the repeat of the conversation between Simone and Shannon was intentional, or was it and and the part about Simone recalling her conversation with Shannon was left out? The concept of the story was good, re-editing would do wonders. I would have given it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
What a fabulous ending for Adriano and Simone. Although I felt their HEA was a bit rushed, I'm am happy with their conclusion. I loved getting to know the other side to Adriano, still alpha male and still sexy as he'll, but now a father. Simone... I wanted to strangle many, many times throughout.
Although Adriano and Simone's story is complete, I hope they visit during the next chapter in this series that includes Nicolai and Reign. I also hope that book answers the question as to why Victoria insists on trying to get herself killed.
This book is definitely a keeper!
S/N: Not sure if the author has been made aware, but there are identical pages in different sections of the book.
When comparing books, I have to say the first book was hands down the best. I don't know what happen between the first book and this one, the story fell flat. I mean really, Simone's best friend asks her to listen to some tapes and instead of started with tape A, she listens to tape C first. That's like reading the last three chapters of a book first and when finished start at the beginning. Somewhere between the first book and the last book the Simone character last something for me. The only character that was true to form was Andriano. He was consistent in what he felt for Simone. Simone played too many games and was not true to herself in this part of the story.
Adriano was digging his way out of sin to me. I enjoyed this climax of series 5 years have passed and Simon and A are reunited. I love how A fights and waits patiently. For her love. He shows that he is the man when he finds out about his daughters it was great writing and reading for him to know the triplets belonged to him. Now Simone tried to fight it but in the end true love won. Now don't get name wrong I'm a sucker for romance and that is how I rate books. Make no mistake there is plenty of action, deception, violence, teachers a cast of mobsters and the I r women. Great gob Mrs Parker.
She used more characters which was fine even though I only wanted to read about Simone and Andriano. The other characters added to the story line making it more intriguing. Simone was bent on not forgiving Andriano. Her heart was so hardened. The story takes you to the edge of your seat a few times. I cried on a couple of parts that were so heart felt. The connection between them is so great. I loved Andriano's determination to be with Simone. I am most satisfied with the book. Books 1 and 2 are classics. I could read them over and over again. Thanks to D J Parker for delivering such spectacular work!
This a great continuation of the story. Loose ends were addressed and the characters were fleshed out. I enjoyed part one but part 'll explained the behavior of Andriano and why he married Josephine. We were able to see Andriano and Simone work there way back together and characters introduced in the first book began a story of there own. Despite the one section that repeated itself, I loved the love story and the journey the couple took to be together. Looking forward to the Nicolai's story. Five stars for me.
Overall Book 2 was good. There was some editing issues and the storyline did not flow cohesive once you get to the middle of the book.. I liked the different point of views. The issue was following the time lapse.. It seemed to be choppy....
Andriano leaving the mob was weird... But I guess in both books he was not overly excited about being the Dom.. I just can't see how he can walk away completely... With no ties..
Waiting on book 3, to read Nicolai story.. Maybe it will shed some more light.
This book is better than 5 Stars, I give it 10 Starts!! DJ Parker you definitely have a gift as an author to bring your readers in and taking them on a ride!! I enjoyed Part 2 from beginning to the end, I was on the edge of my seat waiting from things to pop off. I was wondering how Victoria would get her revenge(I was shocked about her dad's secret), I was wondering will Josephine find out about Simone's babies & what would she do(she had secrets of her own), my biggest surprise was the "Rat" in the family & what happened to him. **No Spoilers** you must read this for yourself!!
Well, that was a MAJOR letdown. I echo what other reviewers have said. The build up from the first book had me going. I spent my Sunday reading both volumes only to end up with a rough ending/cliffhanger. I mean, to say I was disappointed in how this wrapped up would be an understatement. A shame because the love scenes are pretty hot in these books, but the backstory plot was all over the damn place.
Wait. What just happened? Am I understanding the end of this book correctly? Did someone murder Simone and the children then placed them in the refrigerator? Will Nicolai's story tell what the end of book two failed to reveal? Such a great author. Such a great cliffhanger. What a way with storytelling.
I was happy to see that Simone and Andraino got to be a family after all they went through. However, I didn't not like the ending. It left me with more questions than answers. I did enjoy reading both books.
I enjoyed the second book but I hate that it ended with a cliffhanger. Like my fellow reviewers, Simone did get on my nerves at times but I am glad she didn't make it easy for Andriano. I definitely recommend this series and I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
Great ending to the series. Andriano and Simone had great chemistry. His love for Simone and the girls balanced his ruthlessness. Looking forward to more DJ Parker!
