The White House has ordered the execution of a highly sensitive covert operation in dragon-occupied territory. Though a Slash Op has a zero percent survival rate, the commanding general is forced to enlist his most prized officer for the task.
Major Gideon is embarking on his first mission in the dragon district. Yet Gideon has hardly recovered from all that Drago made him endure. For the past three months, Gideon has been plagued with dreams of dragons terrorizing him, but his dreams have gradually turned into sexual fantasies. Despite coming to terms with his longing to have Drago in bed, Gideon cannot suppress his desire to beat Drago’s face in. When Gideon is called for a mission in the most dangerous district on Earth, what freaks him out the most is the prospect of seeing Drago again.
I'll be the first to admit, I struggled with the amount of non-con action, and the reason for it, in book 1. However, morbid curiosity had me champing at the bit to read the sequel.
The follow up appealed to me as a reader for a number of reasons. The sex (while much of it dubious) drove the plot rather than overwhelmed it. But more than that, the suspense, mystery of what was going on, near on killed me.
I was like oh-no, so and so is a traitor the bastard... then then, then 'that' happened and then 'that' came to light... damn I can't say what those are without spoilers. But I will say this story played on my mind long after I turned the last page.

This book picks up about 3 m9onths after Drago Star. Gideon has been out in California learning High Dragon when he is recalled to Fort Hood to lead an undercover operation against the Dragons.
I will be honest. I usually shy away from science fiction and shifter books, they aren't usually my books of choice. However, having read Drago Star I was invested in Drago and Gideon and wanted to come back and see how their relationship progressed.
Sex in this book was plentiful but it did not overpower the mission. The mission was fast paced and exciting. I enjoyed trying to figure out where the author was going to take the main MCs relationship. Drago having famously uttered that Dragons did not do romance. I understand that there is to be a book 3 and I will certainly be reading that.

There’s something undeniably effective about J. Johanis' characters. She has a way of infusing them with the exact right proportions of vulnerability and strength. There’s excitement in knowing who her people are but not knowing exactly which way they might turn at any moment. This is not to say that they’re not clearly defined, but that they have their depths. I’ve never been a fan of switching or of shifting, but her characters make such seamless transitions, I couldn’t get enough of either.
I don’t believe I’ve ever read a book before where it didn’t matter to me who was on top. The chemistry between the two main characters is so purely sensual that all I cared about was their coupling in any and every way possible. And when they coupled, the intense heat they generated all but singed my underwear. The highlight of it being the scene where one naked MC (given an aphrodisiac) was tied hand and foot to the other naked MC while they rolled and bounced around the interior of a locked cabin. You can imagine. Truly a scene I will never forget. And that’s only a hint of this author’s inventiveness.
When she gets to the Slash Op at hand, the events tumble forth in such surprising ways that I couldn’t click the Kindle fast enough. There’s absolutely nothing predictable here, and I love when that happens. Altogether, this book succeeds on many different levels: plot, sex, characters, excitement and, dare I say, love? All of this even comes with a bang up ending that would make any Hollywood screenwriter jealous.
Gideon and Drago’s story continues in this instalment. Gideon, having gone through a traumatic experience, cannot quite shake off what happened to him. He is attracted to Drago and he hates himself for being attracted to the legendary General because a) he cannot quite forgive Drago and b) he believes his feelings are one-sided. Although it wasn’t quite clear why Drago was attracted to Gideon, the feelings between them develop despite Gideon’s doubts over the relationship and Gideon raping Drago during a mission.
Gideon’s feelings are all over the place and his actions come across erratic. Too much happening in his headspace and not adequately prepared for a mission. It’s Drago’s turn to suffer as he tries to protect a man who hasn’t recovered from his ordeal.
I wasn’t sure why he didn’t fight back or call for help when Gideon raped him. His reaction seemed pretty meek. Perhaps, it was guilt, but he should have known the result could be detrimental to their mission as being raped by a human prevents him from shifting. It came across downright unprofessional and he didn’t have the excuse of Gideon whose hurt was still raw and therefore couldn’t think clearly at times.
The story is fast paced and much of it happens during their mission. There are twists and turns that make the reader flip the pages to find out whatever happens next. This, combined with the romantic element, made the reading as an entertaining experience for me.

4 Stars
Gideon's struggle to come to terms with what happened in the first book of the series, Drago Star, really came to light in this book, and the hint of Drago's confusion at his protectiveness of the young Star Commander at the beginning of the book finally let me feel a little love for the Dragon in charge. That being said, there were still a few of the non-con elements that put me off, but no way as near as in the first book. I think that as long as the reader has a true idea of the contents of this book then this is a fantastic book for any lover of M/M sci-fi/paranormal lovers. I don't know if I will ever read the next book in the series when it comes about, but I'm not crossing it off my list. I will definitely have to peek at the description first off to see if the main plot interests me, and if not, I am happy with the ending this book gave me and I will live in happy ignorance with the image of Gideon and Drago living 'happy ever after' lol
This is one of those guilty pleasure kind of stories. One of those you can't quite believe you're enjoying as much as you are and are half afraid at how it is making you feel. But, this story grabs a hold and keeps you on the edge until the end.
Gideon has not yet forgiven Drago for his role in Gideon's training, but they must now work together on a special mission. Things take a turn for the worse, backs are stabbed and dragons are on the rampage. Unfortunately, it is Drago who bares the brunt of it this time.
This is not for the faint of heart, as things get pretty rough at times, including dragon gang rape. But, it being paranormal, it is somehow easier to handle, and the rest of the story pulls you ahead. I'm hooked on this crazy series and can't wait for the next one to see where things go for these two unlikely partners.
I was so mad when this book was banned from kindle, but was really glad when the author posted where I could still acquire a copy. I couldn't get enough of the story and can't wait for the next one in the series as well as what awaits from this author in the S-God series.
Yeah... nope. I wish he stayed angry and quit the military. It made no sense they tricked him (again) and I don't believe dragos sudden "love" since he couldn't care less in the previous book.
Would read the next one(if there was one) only to see if drago stops lying and redeems himself. And if they quit the horrible military (jessy was truly right).
Oh My God! What have I gotten myself into? This book, this series, is off the chains. I’ve spent half my time mumbling incoherently because I am amazed that not only is this story horrific, shocking, and mind blowing, it is also sexy, addictive, and entertaining. How is that even possible? You one hundred percent have to suspend your beliefs, put your comfort zone in the closet, and just jump into it with both feet and eyes wide open.
Drago and Gideon want to, equal parts, fight and fuck. And when they do, it’s no holds barred, all the way. Gideon is human, Drago is the dragon shifter, and nothing these two top ranking military officials do is easy. The training, the missions, the sex is all hardcore, bloody, and in your face. Dragon shifters are normally unemotional and romance is not in their blood, however, Drago might be starting to feel a little something something for our formerly bruised and abused Gideon. Guess I need to read on to get more, and I can’t wait.
This is a short, fast read, but full of so much punch that you are left lying bruised on the floor wondering how you got there. But, you love every minute of it, even if you begin to question how you could enjoy it so much. I ain’t questioning it anymore, its fantasy, it’s sexy, and it’s hardcore with a happy for now ending…I can deal with that.
And with each book it just keeps getting better and better.
Gideon is back with Drago once again and this time things change between them. Gideon cannot quit thinking about Drago after the specialized training in the last book and he is hating himself for it. Drago does not think he is capable of having romantic feeling la for anyone much less a human but that is proven wrong when slash ops is given the go ahead. The real question is just how far is Drago willing to go to protect Gideon and is it all for the mission or is it something real.
I have to say that normally I am not big on paranormal reads but I so captivated by this series that I could not put it down. J. Johanis was able to capture my attention in book one and now he has me held captive with book two. Cannot wait for book three to come out. This is an awesome series but fore warning there are intense sense of what can be perceived as rape and violence so if you have triggers for that this is not the book for you.

I was invested in this series after book 1 and was pleased to be asked by the author to beta read Slash Op. I like Drago and Gideon very much but I believe there should have been more build up surrounding their three month separation instead of Gideon is called back, given the incomplete details of a mission and finds himself sitting in Drago's lap as they head out. The attraction is still there and the mission is fast paced. I felt the mission was missing details for the reader. The ending was just right for a lead in to the next book in this series. There is dub-con and non-con so if they do not interest you do not read. I will definitely continue reading this series. I appreciate the opportunity the author gave me.
This is book 2 in J. Johanis’s Toy Soldiers series. It starts off with Gideon away learning High Dragon and Drago getting a mission for Gideon that could possibly kill him… no big right? LOL. When Drago Star (book 1) ended it didn’t really have much of a happy ending and it made me sad because I wanted Drago and Gideon together forever (I’m a sap) In this one we really get to see the magnitude of their feelings for each other and the sacrifices Drago actually makes for him. It was touching. As dark, erotic, and violent as things were there’s a love story here that is truly beautiful and fills you with so much hope. I really do enjoy this series and look forward to more!!!
Slash OP (Toy Soldier Book 2) by J. Johanis continues the adventures of now Star Commander Major Gideon in the Toy Soldier series.
Not fully recovered from the mental, physical, and emotional abuse Gideon has endured during his training, he is ordered to command a sensitive covert operation by the White House.
The plans are set in motion and he is once again working with his commander and dragon-shifter Drago, who has been monopolizing his thoughts and fantasies.
MONOPOLIZING HIS THOUGHTS AND FANTASIES
Gideon has yet to resolve his feeling of lust and anger toward the man.
The tension between Gideon and Drago is thick. Tempers flare, but will their actions jeopardize their safety during their current mission? The chemistry between Gideon and Drago is intense, with both navigating the waters of their feelings while trying not to admit them to each other.
CHEMISTRY BETWEEN GIDEON AND DRAGO IS INTENSE
This time, as they both become captives, non-con abusive sex is used as a punishment, and a controlling mechanism for our MC’s. The heat and passion shared between Gideon and Drago is palpable, even while they are being held captive. More of that hidden romance emerges through their actions, which are often for the benefit of the other, and not as a survival mechanism for themselves.
HEAT AND PASSION SHARED BETWEEN GIDEON AND DRAGO IS PALPABLE
As with Drago Star, Slash OP is also written is such a way that you are pulled into an engrossing Sci-Fi adventure that captivates you, making you question yourself for enjoying it.
If you enjoyed Drago Star, this is a great continuation to the series, expanding and building that connection with the characters we crave.
Original review on Molly Lolly Four stars! This was a great sequel to Drago Star. I really enjoyed getting into Drago’s head a bit more this time around. However he doesn’t give away any of the secrets that are revealed throughout the story. I really liked how the backstory and world was expanded in this book. The world Ms. Johanis built is really interesting and I hope we get to see more of it in the next book. I was surprised by some of the events in the story. However they were explained by the end and I was awed by how well the deception and double talk happened and I didn’t even realize it until the reveal at the end. Gideon is shaping up to be a very deep character. I love how his desires are brought out and he slowly loses his fear of showing them. I’m hoping by the third book he can embrace his wants and needs and let go with Drago. There wasn’t as much that happened to Gideon this time around that was completely over the top sexy. However the scene with the pie filling was my favorite. I really liked how even in this dark and sexy story Ms. Johanis still gave me a sweet happy for now ending with wonderful emotions. I loved the sneak peek at the third book in the series and I can’t wait for it to come out.
Just as dark and disturbing as the first part of Toy Soldier; do not read this book if M/M dark erotica offends you. Seriously, there's rape here.
Major Gideon sure doesn't have an easy life. He likes being top, but now he fantasizes of being a bottom instead. After what Drago did to him he finds himself wanting more of the same, and what Drago did wasn't pretty. But now he has to go on a highly dangerous mission under Drago's command, which doesn't exactly go smoothly.
I enjoyed Gideon's inner struggle in this book. Confused and angry, he just always ends up having sex with the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time. The more he tries to fix things with Drago the worse it gets, and next the already dubious mission is ready to go to hell in a handbasket. There's this wonderful sense of increasing disaster in the air that kept me wondering what on earth would happen next. I was captivated from beginning to end.
I debated with myself for a while whether to go for four or five stars, but five it is, this was such hot, fast-paced fun with all the sex, action and good twists. This series has me hooked. I look forward to the third part!
Another great book. It was such a fast paced that i could't stop reading, so interesting. I realy loved it. On the same way of the previous book, it's full of twists that keep the reader guessing all the way through it. The characters are nice, but again i felt i need to know more of the misterious Drago. The reader get to know a bit more of his feelings, but i still think the character was underdeveloped. Maybe becuase i found him so intriguing, i needed to know more of him. On Gideon's case, i was annoyed by some of his actions, but maybe they were aceptable considering the situations he was going through. In general i think it was a great book. I liked this author's writing and i apreciate that is puching my boundaries because, i don't like reading shifter stories and yet i'm willing to make the effort for her books. I will be reading the next book of this series as soon as is out.
The first book was amazing and this one was just as enjoyable.
The second book, Slash OP, features Gideon out in the field dealing with desires he doesn’t know how to deal with. It’s just as intense and intriguing as well as dark. More dragon and non con sex. But there’s also romance. And I find it amazing that Johanis could write rough, dark actions and still throw in sweetness and it’s believable.
There’s an awesome surprise in book one so I can’t talk too much about book two with spoiling it. You definitely need to read this books in order.
I am so looking forward to book three. Thanks, J. Johanis, for an amazing story unlike anything I’ve ever read.
This was the second part of the story after Drago Star. I didn't think I could like the story more after the first part, but I was pleasantly surprised. This was excellent. I really enjoyed getting to know more about Gideon and Drago.
This book had some seriously intense dragon scenes that had me ducking for cover while reading as fast as I could. So good! I couldn't get through it fast enough!
I can't wait for more!!
