Azarinth Healer #7

Azarinth Healer Book Seven: A LitRPG Adventure

Rate this book
Ilea has been fighting terrifying creatures of magic for a long time - now she’s become one of them.

After her adventures on the deadly Krahen Isles, Ilea broke through and gained another question mark. However, while she worked on her Classes in the North, things did not remain idle on the Plains.

The war with Baralia has come to an end, and with it the influence of one of the major Healing Orders of the world. More Orders are taking note of the rise of the Medic Sentinels. Conflict is brewing, and Lilith might just be the right envoy for the job. So long as the negotiations involve poisons and punching.

The world is changing, and Ilea sets her sights on the twelve ancient keys of the Taleen. Artifacts related to the One without Form, the supposed guardian of the Taleen and their long-forgotten capital. With her fast-improving space magic, as well as her allies' continued research into the Taleen teleportation technology, she’s ready for a road trip. This time, she is joined by a few unlikely companions, ready to explore the wastelands and the far reaches of the world. And to fight and/or befriend anything that gets in their way.

Oh, and there are also mechs, dwarves, and big flame-covered swords. Come and join her on the journey.

--

About the Join Ilea as she is transported to a world full of monsters and magic, where power is measured by one's class, level and skills. Watch her grow in power, and recklessness, as she wields ancient hand-to-hand combat magic that can both heal and destroy. This Isekai story has a dual-Class LitRPG system where every skill, class and ability can evolve. Ilea’s tale is equal parts comfy slice-of-life wanderings, goofy jokes and brutal, blood-pumping battles with nightmarish monsters. Join her as she delves into forgotten dungeons, hoards snacks and generally does whatever she feels like.

Ilea makes another visit to the Krahen Islands but this time she's one step away from death. No, not her new friend, a 4-mark Lich named Owl, no, this is death in the form of a very pissed off dragon. We're talking god level with nasty big pointy teeth. Anyway...

The plot of this book revolves around Ilea's search for more keys, and now a new reason has "dawned" on her to acquire the entire set of 12. This search leads her into all manner of interesting and often dangerous places. Audur, the forementioned dragon, was encountered on one such search but some encounters were more pleasant. For example, meeting Bralin the dwarf deep in the caves of The Pit. He's a stalwart companion and should be a great addition to the character lineup. There's also hints of a backstory so he's probably appearing in the next book too.

Early in the book, Ilea undertakes a mission to feel out the Corinth Order, an order of healers that might be rubbing elbows with Ilea's Sentinel order of healers out in the field. Ilea isn't exactly a diplomat so her solution made for some very interesting reading. That's probably my favorite part though the dwarf settlement at The Pit provided a nice dungeon dive and some mech fighting as well. Who doesn't like dwarfs battling it out in giant magic metal suits? Of course there's plenty of new monsters to be fought, evil people to be conquered, and harsh landscapes to be endured. All in all, a fine addition to the series. Ilea's continued work on mastering space magic is giving her more insight into the makeup of some of the high-powered god-like beings like Meadow and that also is a provoking development. Ilea has come a long, long way since the first book. The search for the rest of the Taleen keys in the next book should prove to be well worth reading. I wish I didn't have to wait.

This book feels eerily similar to the part of an rpg where you have completed every side quest and finally get started on the main quest just to discover that the main quest has 99 steps and they're just kind of tedious to go through when you're max level from completing the rest of the game.

There's nothing wrong with the book, it has the fights and exploration that you expect from Ilea's adventures at this point and it's pretty fun. But the prevelance and frequency of teleportation back to hubs just ends up making it feel like a series of chores before we can get back to the real story and prevents me from rating it any higher.

Another Good Addition

The seventy book in the series was another good addition. I’ll start with the things that I loved about this installment. Lilith is as powerful as ever and I absolutely love the she is becoming more OP by the day. Her growing network is also interesting and I like that her original team all have their own things going on. Seeing more of the world and its possibilities is dope!!!! We finally see a dragon and it’s overwhelming.

Now the gripes/hesitations I have are mainly about power scaling. As she becomes more powerful I hope her problems shift to something that can’t be totally solved with raw power and or the power scaling stats realistically linear. The other issue I have is she is a brute. There is nothing wrong with being a brawler but it is also a simplistic means to acquire power. What this means as a reader is the author doesn’t have to delve very deep into creating and explaining the magic system because the MC isn’t interested. That aspect in and of itself doesn’t bother me it’s more that her raise is unchallenged and I don’t think that feasible. It would be amazing to see someone half her level actually beat her do to their deeper understanding of magic. She only really understand some of her abilities at shallow levels and others not really at all. She just uses them. I think the author tries to use meadow as the counter of being knowledgeable and more powerful then her but I think it would be more engaging to see someone less powerful then her school her.

Decent continuation of the story.

The fun adventures that Lilith gets up to are great, continuing to rush into fun fights and meeting people and trying to leave the world better than they found it .

Also very much appreciate the story thus far (why this got a 4 rather than a 3.5)

Main few issues:
1. Like the past few books the pages of levels are just not fun, they are just skip fodder. I honestly feel like giving me just the ones that reach a break through point is enough unless you’re doing just 1 level up.
2. The skill descriptions and classes while cool are too complicated and varied to keep it all in my head at once. If she has just 5-7 skills it would be possible but for now it is getting unwieldy.
3. It felt like most of the action of this book while a culmination of the work the MC has been doing it mostly happened off page.

This is how it is done

Superb book. One that I have found to be quite rare this late into a series.

It has it all: Ilea doing awesome things, lore reveals, setbacks, progress, and plenty to keep the story going for the foreseeable future.

I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to point out the masterful delivery of a sense of "girl power". In so many series, it is done in an extremely heavy-handed and inorganic method. Like Horizon Zero Dawn (video game), this series is a masterclass that so many others should take the time to study.

Looking forward to the next book!

A much more nuanced take on gun boat diplomacy

This held political intrigue, new discoveries, and most importantly: new goals to hit.

The story pace was good enough that the end came with dread, and only after I could tear myself away to check what page I was on.
The nature of blindly grasping towards ever greater heights felt very valid, and can be sympathized with considering how easily that translates to our own uncertainties in life as we move forward.

A good read.

Hands down the best isekai of all time

I cant stop loving this series. The story is just consistently getting better at a steady rate, more new characters, deeper world lore, expansive systems, it's all just fantastic. And a healer mc makes it all work. More then any other, this is the series I wish would go on forever

Its all coming together

I always enjoy Ilea's adventures. This entry starts a major thread and we get some tasty lore for more worldly inclined. I'm excited to see where the conclusion is pointing toward. As always this was written and edited well, which is always a plus on Unlimited. Definitely worth reading for the punch alone.

Ilia is a cheat code and it is fun to enjoy her adventure. We do get to learn one secret fairly early on which is the basis for the entire plot of this novel. If you've enjoyed the previous books this one isn't ground breaking and is probably one of the worst to date, but that just means it is mindless fun.

Too much loresplaining.
Every persion Ilea meets; Is it true that *Insert event from book 2* and that *Insert event from book 3*, also did you actually *Insert event from book 3*
6 hours into the audiobook, feels like at least 2 hours are pure filler.

Do a more comprehensive story so far in the beginning of the book instead constantly interrupting the story.

I enjoyed it

I really enjoyed reading this. The voice of all the characters and the author feels the same from the first book. It's nostalgic to read about Ilea's memories and think about what I was doing back when that first book came out. I look forward to more.

Fantastic season.

Still a excellent show. It hold it's litrpg strong still, though it was very entertaining, it did have some filler feel to it. Though the foreshadowing and teasing is exciting to see which happens next.

Ilea going about and doing Ilea things. This book definitely wrapped up a few things and set up the scene for a new direction/adventure. If I could a genie for a power set.... Ilea's would be a top contender!

Book feels pretty repetitive, they keep going back and forth to the same pre-established locations.

They just keep getting better. Bigger monsters and more levels and plenty more world building. There are some fun new characters introduced as well.
