More Than Six Million Ralph Compton Books in Print
A sleeper! I didn't think i would get so wrapped up in this book, but I really enjoyed it. Of course, it could have helped that I'm a 5th gen Texan, but, aside from that, I really liked the writing style and prose choices. I started it 6 months ago, misplaced it, and found it again last week. Many books I read aren't terribly memorable, but everything I had read up to page 124 came tumbling back into my mind as clearly as if I'd only put the book down yesterday! I think that's notable! The tale is based on the first Texas longhorn cattle drive to be undertaken by settlers (farmers) instead of ranchers. Three families decided to try their luck as "cowboys". Not a walk in the park, as they found out. I'd even put the book in a mystery category. Highly recommend.
