"Pay the price. The heart of ye child to be liftin the curse. Dare ye risk it?"
When Mijo escaped from Madame Le Guillotine and set sail to England, little did she know who her savior was, or what he would mean to her.
Theo was enchanted by his émigré, but knew what trouble they could be in. After dodging the French, revenue men, and smugglers, now they had their feelings to contend with. Passion was all well and good, as long as they could weather the storm it unleashed, and solve the curse.
After 30 plus years in Scotland, Raven now lives in East Yorkshire, and has swapped forest walks for coastal ones and her Aga for a hob and oven. She still enjoys writing where she can see the birds in the garden and her lovely hubby still has to ignore the dust bunnies, rescue dinner and hand her a glass of wine while she finishes what she is writing.
Jumbled mess of incoherent information, trying to become some semblance of story. They're on a boat, then they're off the boat. Suddenly they're being chased and have to hide in a cave. He mentions marriage, doing the right thing because of compromising her (being alone with her). Then they have terribly described sex...... Boom, there's the story. Your welcome...... I dont believe in stealing people's time. Time is LIFE, be particular in how it's used up.
This was lovely. I liked Mijo (cool name) and Theo as well. The writing was strong, but the story felt far to short. Needless to say, definitely checking out more of the series!
Although only 27 pages long, this was a prelude to which may be a good series. I will definitely read the next book, which I think could be the daughter of Mijo (not sure though). 3☆
While fleeing to England to avoid a forced marriage to a man she refers to as a pig, Mijo finds herself aboard a ship on the run.
Theo is enthralled with the young woman who uses his ship to flee from France. He can’t get over how this young woman affects him.
But they must dodge the French smugglers and others on their quest. Soon after reaching the coast they find themselves hiding alone in a cave.
Their feelings and their true identities are revealed. Will they move forward, will they find happiness, and can they lift the curse on the bounty she stole before she fled?
I’m excited to read this brand new series by Raven and I have no doubts it will be fantastic.
This is the story of Mijo and Theo, a very short story that starts in the English Channel in 1789. However, while the story is set start in the English Channel 1789 I have to say that I didn’t feel it as a historical and although there was the use of some French words from the era in the dialogue the truth is that for the sexual interactions specifically it was pretty much today’s dialogue.
Take the below inner dialogue for example.
“Damn, I should have known he’d want to know that.”
Also the use of some big words for such a quick read took away from the story. Despite the mentioned, overall is a good quick read and I’ll give it 3 diamonds with 2 flames.
I was lost at the start of this story. Not sure who the characters were or their purpose in running or who they were running from. I may try the next book and see where it goes.
An interesting start to Theo and Mijo's journey together. The tale was told very well and for the time era. I loved the characters and their story. Looking forward to reading more from this series!
This is a super short (27 pages) book. Mijo has fled France and is rescued by Theo; smuggler, pirate, Lord & magistrate. Apparently this is a prequel to another book...
