I’m having a hard time reconciling this as a Gaelen Foley novel as the style and characters seem so different from her Knights series. I loved that series. The characters were three dimensional with a hint of darkness and the drama and stakes were intense for them. This was just fluffy.

I don’t know whether I am being a grumpy witch or what, but I found myself more irritated than entertained. All I could think of with all the sexual shenanigans the Duke was up to it’s a pity that an STD test or three weren’t available for the poor heroine. And the incredibly anachronistic fail

Not bad, but a little bland and nothing unique. The first half is so slow and boring with constipated dialogue and one-dimensional characters. The story greatly improved in the second half, but by then, it was too late for me.

So much potential wasted!

I was a full 5 until the hero's secret was revealed. Not that I had a problem with his secret in particular but I did not like that he kept it from her until the last possible moment.Just no,no.

Consequently,I found the ending was a bit too far fetched for that era.(I doubt a lord would ever publicly

Nevertheless great read.
Loved the heroine the best ! She was kick-ass.

I liked the book, it was fun after I got into it. This had a slow start for me. I was intrigued by the characters since we met them in the prequel so I continued the book and I'm so happy I did.

Felicty has always been in love with Jason, the Duke of Netherford. She was resigned to never having a happily ever after with him, till she needed his help managing a fortune left to her by her great aunt.

Jason is Felicity's brother best friend and all 3 of them grew up together. He had always taken care of her from afar and reseted her allure till he saw how fortune hunters treated her after she got her inheritance. The more time they spent together the more he couldn't let her go.

I liked Felicity. When she saw that she couldn't win him by being mannerly and taking no risks, she changed and became bolder and unafraid of pursuing her wishes. Jason was a sweetheart at heart, but the neglect his parents had shown him when he was young convinced him that he was unlovable. Felicity changed that and helped him see that he didn't have to waste his life on being unhappy.

All in all it was a funny book and got me intrigued on knowing more of Jason's friend, the Duke of Rivenwood.

There are two slow learners with regard to this book. There's me, who should have known better than to pre-order a book by an author I'm no longer fond of, just because it's a new series and, I thought, a fresh start. And there's the hero of this book, who takes eight years to learn behavior modification.

(There may be SPOILERS ahead. Although judging by how much this story stank, it must have spoiled long ago.)

So we have our "hero", Jason, Duke of Something-or-Other. He's one of those poor little rich dukes whose mommy and daddy did not love each other or him, so he's all messed up and looking for love in all the wrong place, with the mindless pursuit of mindless sex with whores and mistresses.

Eight years ago his best friend's younger sister Felicity (at 15) revealed her feelings of love for him and he (at 19) ran away from her as fast as he could. They've had little contact since. He avoids her. Perhaps she sees him from afar at the tail end of a party when he and his posse of inebriated rakes show up. So he has ignored her and behaved badly all during these years and the stupid girl still loves him. Do you get this? If so, please leave a comment explaining it to me. She's an idiot, IMO, and that's about all I can say about her.

Now let me state the reasons why this Jason is perhaps the least likely candidate for the title "hero of a romance novel".

1) He doesn't usually go more than two days without sex. And his sexual encounters are with whores or with his mistress of the moment.

2) He apparently drinks to excess.

3) The only "useful" thing he does in life is support a struggling composer, a painter, a sculptor and a scientist. He has no interest in attending the House of Lords or crusading for social justice on issues or anything that shows he has an interest in his fellow man. (Politics bores him.)

4) He's not all that interested in contraception or even protection against "social diseases". He has two illegitimate children by two different former mistresses, one aged 4, one 2. You'd think that after the first "accident" he'd have been more careful. (I'm just now reading a historical fiction novel taking place in 1570s France and apparently they were already using sponges soaked in brandy.) After all, he was messed up by being a neglected child of estranged parents. Why doesn't he care enough to avoid producing possible messed-up children himself?

5) For eight years he avoids the heroine. Then she initiates contact with him and from there it's the inevitable slide into "love"? What inconsistency. If he wasn't good enough for her 8 years ago, he's definitely not good enough after 8 years of being a whoring, drinking, illegitimate-child-producing man-slut.

I hated this guy. And because of this I hated the girl who loved him all her life and forgave him for everything. Why do romance authors think their heroines and their readers should put up with a self-pitying, self-centered, immoral "hero"? (In all fairness, I must acknowledge that one of my very favorite authors, Judith Ivory, has several books with rather slutty heroes with illegitimate children. And of course, there's Loretta Chase's LORD OF SCOUNDRELS. Dain is a bit of a degenerate and has an illegitimate son. But this Foley book doesn't even come close to the complexity and beauty of the stories by Ivory or Chase.)

Another great romance from Ms. Foley. I just think that Jason gave in a little to easily for all his angst about love and marriage. Felicity was great in her strategy to get him to realize he did love her. Another Duke is next in the series, but I hope she has plans for Peter, her brother to get a HEA.

There’s a scene in Duke of Scandal where Felicity admires a statue of Hades and Persephone which portrays the innocent goddess seemingly seducing the roguish god, thus reversing the preconceived roles of these well known figures. That moment is not only a turning point for Felicity but also sums up the book’s story rather nicely as well.

I loved the tug-of-war between Felicity and Jason because it was the heroine that was in hot pursuit of the hero this time around. With Felicity being the one so open and honest about her feelings and Jason cast as the insecure one; what a refreshing change of pace! In this case it was Jason who was afraid of love because he had never truly experienced it before Felicity, not really. That, combined with misguided loyalty to Felicity’s brother and Jason’s best friend, kept Jason from fully letting Felicity in. But thankfully Felicity’s persistence proved irresistible. The girl wanted her rake and she got him, talk about impressive.

In fact Felicity was the single best aspect of the book in my humble opinion. I just adored her. She was very aware of her worth and I liked that a lot. She had the ability to ooze self confidence while still maintaining a sense of vulnerability which made her feel all the more real and tangible. And her cheeky seduction methods have to applauded.

I did feel the ending was a bit too tied up with a pretty bow perfect and I thought a little more time could have been spent on how much of an impact . Irrelevant nitpicks aside, Gaelen Foley’s writing continues to meet all my catnip needs.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first full-length novel in the Moonlight Square Series. I thought that it had great characters in Jason Hawthorne, Duke of Netherford, and Felicity Carvel. I really liked the way they had been friends for their entire lives, even though they hadn't had much to do with one another for several years. I loved the ease that was between the two when they really started to spend time together again. The teasing and banter between them was fun, and they had wonderful chemistry together. The storyline kept me intrigued, and I was very glad that Felicity was so accepting of Jason and all of his past roguish behaviors. I liked the way she saw his vulnerabilities and handled them gently. Everything about this charming love story came together to create a very enjoyable reading experience for me. Gaelen Foley is a must read author for me, and this book has all of the elements that make her a favorite. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick and easy read – but – it definitely wasn’t a historical. Yes, it says it is, but all of the conversations, situations, actions, etc. were thoroughly modern. If you replaced the carriages with cars, you’d have a contemporary story. The ‘hero’ was the biggest man-ho I think I have ever read and the ‘heroine’ was such a saccharine Pollyanna that it was totally unbelievable. Strangely enough, I did still enjoy the read. I wouldn’t care to read it again, but I did enjoy it while I was reading it. Maybe because it was more lighthearted than serious.

Jason Hawthorne, the Duke of Netherford, had a lonely childhood with parents who didn’t love – or even like – each other nor did they care about him. He was raised by very well paid servants – so he grew up thinking that if you wanted someone to take care of you, then you had to pay them. Therefore – he paid for everything he wanted – including the bedroom activities. He also sired two – yes, TWO – illegitimate children. You might think one is an accident and forgive him as long as he took care of the child etc. but two isn’t forgivable. They were also by two different mothers. I will give him credit that he took care of them and regularly went to visit them, but still – you’d think that having been raised in the situation he was, that he’d be very careful not to put another child in that same situation. He is totally worthless – his one ‘useful’ thing is supporting a house full of artists – a painter, a composer, a scientist, a sculptor. He has no useful interests at all. Just a spoiled rich kid. I absolutely failed to see any reason at all why the heroine (or any other woman) would dedicate her life to loving him. I’m sure she remembered the boy he was as they were growing up, but, goodness, after eight years of his current behavior, you’d think she would see him differently. He’s always cared about his best friend’s sister – but he has avoided her for eight years. He promised her brother he wouldn’t pursue her and besides – she’s much too good for the likes of him.

Felicity Carvel has loved the boy who grew up on the neighboring estate, Jason, all of her life. He is her brother’s best friend and they spend all of their time together. She adores Jason and finally, at the age of fifteen, she decides to make her feelings known to him. He is shocked and rebuffs her – and then he avoids her for the next eight years.

Felicity’s brother is off on an expedition to the Himalayas and she desperately needs to reach him. The ONLY person who would know how to reach him is the sponsor of the expedition, Jason. Felicity has no choice but to contact Jason about sending word to her brother. When she doesn’t get answers to her letters to Jason, she shows up at his home – hoping mostly to speak with his secretary to get the information she needs. As she is close to leaving, Jason makes an appearance – very unkempt, barefoot and obviously still in yesterday’s clothes – Felicity is shocked but speaks to him. Then, she sees the two harlots peeking out from a door upstairs and promptly takes her leave.

That visit, and the reason for it, cause Jason to decide that he needs to step in and protect Felicity since her brother isn’t there. It is nice to watch Jason realize how much he cares for Felicity – and that he always has and to see them get their HEA.

I’m still debating whether I’ll read the next book or not. I am a bit intrigued by Rivenwood, so I might give that one a read, but if it feels as modern as this one, then it will be my last book in this series.

I was never going to give this book 4 stars or more the moment they revealed that Jason fathered two illegitimate children. The children are entirely innocent of course, but it is that Felicity, our dear sweet heroine, is now saddled with the knowledge that the mothers of the two children would forever lurk in the periphery of their lives between her and Jason, as Felicity's thought process went when she found out. Which is exactly right. And it is so irresponsible of him too. The moment he fathered Simon, who is 4 i think, he should have taken precautions to stop being such a total irresponsible ass. No, instead he has to go and knock up some other girl out of wedlock and I don't care if she is an irresponsible mother, he is equally irresponsible as well.

Aside from that, this was cute. Felicity was a very saucy little heroine and I enjoyed her interactions with Jason.

I just wished Jason deserved her more.

V. excited for Rivenwood/Serena's book because Rivenwood sounds like quite the character.

For an absolute fuckboy, Jason is sweet and simple, and I bought into the romance fairly quickly. Felicity is a charming minx, and Jason's rampant penis is entertaining for the most part. I'm the type of person who pays special attention to contraceptives in romances so while I was happy he had condoms, I'm still not sure he knows how to properly use them.

Have you ever driven by an accident and was unable to tear your eyes away? even though you knew there was a possibility of you seeing something truly horrific that you would never be able to forget???

that's what this book was for me.

Duke of Scandal by Gaelen Foley. If I could I would give this book a negative 10. but I can't, so I guess I'll just stick with a one star. This book was the epitome of everything I hate in a historical romance novel and historical romance is one of my favorite genres. Here is my formula for a PERFECT HM!!:
- Not too much angst. only a sprinkling, too much will ruin the flavor AND detract from the plot.
- Humor. I hate it when everything is all dour and depressing. a little is ok but not too much.
- An engaging Plot. it doesn't really matter what its about as long as it keeps me guessing and I don't get bored.
- A heroine that knows her mind. basically she doesn't let the hero (at the very least) treat her like crap, when she makes a decision she sticks to it, she's relatable, and rational. A strong heroine doesn't have to be outwardly strong, she can be mentally strong and I love that too.
- Lastly, NO CHEATING HERO. I run across this one quite often, I don't care how much of a manly mans man he is. I don't care if he's thinking about the heroine the entire time ( that's kinda creepy). If he has sex with anyone after meeting the heroine I can't deal with it, call me irrational if you like. Oh and I know what you're thinking so yes, oral does count.

So here was my problem with this particular historical romance novel:
1. Heroine - here you have a heroine whom from all accounts is smart and funny and kind and all that good stuff. yet makes so. many. bad. decisions. and repeatedly in the dialogue she knows she's making bad decisions, and says. repeatedly. she's making bad decisions yet stays on her course forward. case in point:

" I'm only setting myself up to be hurt, she thought. But she couldn't seem to help herself"

last I checked she wasn't crazy or disabled so she has full control of her faculties.
"Deep down, she had always wondered if Jason had any idea at all what love even was"

and you want to marry him? if you think he can't comprehend love then he's probably a psychopath and you should be running. Hard. In the opposite direction.
"You've done this with nearly every other women in Town, so why not me?
"Because you're the one that matters," he replied.

I'm not gonna have sex with you, because you're the one I most want to have sex with. Right. Makes perfect sense. In theory I get what he's saying but seriously? its a total cop out.
"Ah, why of all the men on the earth, did I have to lose my heart to that beast?"

um, No Comment.
"Please be here. Please don't let me down. Please don't break my heart, not again, or I swear I'm done with you."

I haven't heard that one before.
" And, worst of all, after all the women he'd bedded, did last night with her really even mean anything to him?"

You have to ask yourself that question? and you still plan on marrying him?
"I knew it. She sniffled as she managed to get ahold of herself again. I knew he'd come. He may not love me yet, but someday, he will. He has to."

What was that? oh yeah I just puked a little in my mouth.

But seriously. I have a ton more quotes, these are just the few I found particularly disturbing. The heroine was just too prone to martyrdom to me, and I mean that to say she was always sacrificing for love. This was the type of book where the author introduces the Hero and Introduces the Heroine and you think to yourself "I really hope that they don't end up together because he/she is horrific." but then the more you read the more you think to yourself "huh well maybe they do deserve each other."

I mean even during the scenes where she was supposedly standing up for herself, and showing she could take a stand, even that came across as weak to me on her part. Also I wanted to rip out my hair because it was like nothing was really a real human reaction from her, it was just too perfect but not in a good way. I wanted to shake her at one point and scream "ITS OK TO BE ANGRY. IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU HATE HIM OR THE THING HE'S TOLD YOU ABOUT. IT JUST MEANS YOUR FRICKIN' HUMAN so...yeah. there was that. there was also little to no character development, ( I am all about that character development) and the plot...there was no plot, it was just...yeah. I have no words.

2. The Hero - basically I had one major issue with him. he was a hoe. he was the hoe of all hoes. I have read a TON of historical romance and he has to be the sluttiest I've encountered. My big question though is How did he not get frickin' STD's????Just because it's the Regency era does not mean it did not happen and seriously this guy went at it. with EVERYONE. so I honestly would like to know how this didn't happen because for him to have slept around with this many woman(and a lot of them were whores, like that was their occupation) and he NEVER got ANYTHING??!!??!! well that seems very fishy to me. I actually really desperately wanted it to happen while I was reading it, and I was really sad when it didn't.

Overall this book was just not my cup of tea. It was not what I was looking for and I really honestly love Gaelen Foley. I've read a lot of her books and I really enjoyed them but this was definitely not one of them. This book was very frustrating for me but I kept going because I kept hoping that at the end something would happen, something that I would be happy with would happen. It didn't. So it was just a huge disappointment to me. When I closed the book I just immediately wanted to erase the past couple of hours from my brain. I was stunned that Gaelen Foley could write something like this because...wow... it was really bad, and so with all of that said that's why I'm giving this book a negative 10, which really hurts me to do.

In the prequel of the series we get to know the hero Jason as the debauched friend of Gable and learned he had a thing for Triny’s friend Felicity.
Well... Felicity and Jason were childhood friends and things changed once she tried to kiss him. She was just 15, and he was 19 and heir to a dukedom.
Years passed of him avoiding her, until some family matters throw them back together.
I’m a particular fan of childhood friends turned into lovers and this story was interesting and well written.
Jason is really debauched, not one of these rogues only by name we see everywhere, but someone that probably had a STD or two.
He is the kind of hero I would not touch with a 12 feet pole, but Felicity was determined to have him and fix his ways, and I cheered for her success.
This Author is new to me and I got this two first books for free, but I’m really hooked to the series and will for sure read the next book (The Duke of Secrets) about the Duke of Rivenwood. I love a Duke, even better one full of secrets. ;)

Thank you to the author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I feel like a broken record lately, because I’ve said this about so many authors whose works I’ve enjoyed, but this book just didn’t do it for me. Duke of Scandal was about a man who, out of years of neglect from both his parents, sought love between the sheets with half the ton, and the woman who sets out to tame him. This plot isn’t something that I usually have an issue with, and I think why it didn’t work for me here is that neither Jason nor Felicity were particularly likable.

As far as the pacing goes, this book felt slow. I really miss the intrigue and suspense from Foley’s previous works, as I think that’s where she excels. This was just run-in after run-in between Jason and Felicity, and with all the games Felicity was playing, it felt juvenile. I think the shared history between the characters was relied on too heavily to account for their current attraction, which is something I've noticed a lot in recent second chance romances. If past events are going play such a prominent role in the present, then that past needs to be fleshed out for me to buy it. Ultimately, Jason and Felicity's relationship felt forced to me. I wasn’t sure what either of them saw in the other, but I was convinced they got what they deserved when they chose to be together. Aside from each other, they appeared to have few interests or aspirations.

One thing that was a huge problem for me…

Also, some of the language of this book as too modern to be indicative of the time period.

I loved One Moonlit Night, the prequel novella to this story, but Duke of Scandal wasn’t a win for me. Because I liked the prequel, and because the hero of the next book (Duke of Rivenwood) stole every scene he was in in this one, I’ll be checking out the next book in the series.

I LOVE this book! Jason and Felicity have known each other for many years and Felicity's brother is one of Jason's best friends. After a failed attempt of flirtation on Felicity's part when she was fifteen she thought after so many years that she had moved on and couldn't be in love with Jason anymore. Jason, known as the Duke of Scandal and Naughty Netherford, has had his great share of trysts and affairs he finds a new purpose in looking out for Felicity, as she has suddenly becomes an heiress, from fortune-hunters. He has always been attracted to her and cares for her but a promise from her brother has kept him wary of her presence for quite a long time. She comes looking for a way to contact her brother who is away on an expedition and shows up at Jason's house one morning after a long time of polite distance away from each other. After reconnecting, these two become fast friends and their attraction to each other causes quite a spark and flame. I was surprised by their actions. Jason, rake supreme, works very hard to be honorable around Felicity. He definitely wants her but he tries to hold himself together and avoids getting too close to her. However, Felicity is the one to try to seduce the Duke. Her actions were surprising but not out of character. She knows she wants him as much as he wants her so she is on a mission and I was very entertained and impressed by her perseverance. They have a wonderful playful and sweet romance. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them fall in love. I was completely captivated by their love and I didn't want the book to end. An excellent romance!

I always love a Gaelen Foley book and 'Duke of Scandal' was no exception. Foley manages to keep the 'in love with brothers best friend' plot fresh and entertaining.

However, I am more excited about the next book in the series, 'Duke of Secrets'. Out of all the characters that appeared in this book (including a young Alec Knight) Azrael Chambers, the mysterious Duke of Rivenwood who only showed up in a hand full of scenes captured my interest the most. I look forward to seeing how his story with Serena(who made a very small appearance)turns out.

have been a huge fan of Gaelen Foley’s work for years, she is one of the few authors who can do thrilling, historical romance perfectly. I absolutely loved the Inferno Club, The Knights Miscellany and The Spice trilogy and I have been looking forward to finally reading this new series from her, this is book one in the Moonlight Square series and it’s a wonderful start.

The story opens with Felicity Carvel making her way to the notorious Duke of Netherford’s house, she has something she needs help with and only the duke can help her. She has suddenly left a substantial inheritance and is now the most sought-after heiress in society, she is alone and wants her brother but the only way she can get word to him as he is on a mission somewhere in the world is to go directly to his benefactor; Jason Hawthorne! But as this is the man who rebuked her intentions when she was a mere teenager she isn’t looking forward to the encounter, no matter how much she wants to see him again.

Jason Hawthorne; The Duke of Netherford or more commonly known within society as ‘The Duke of Scandal’ and ‘Naughty Netherford’ is one of the most notorious and scandalous rakes in society. To society he is a rake, an untrustworthy supremely roguish lord, but beneath the surface there is a really complex and vulnerable man they debauched rake he so happily shows to the world is just one of his many mask’s he don’s. Jason is a man with many layer’s and deep secret’s lurking behind that cold exterior, but once hearing Felicity’s plight and realizing that being an heiress will bring unwanted attention and danger on to her, his well-hidden goodness finally shows his head and we see what a fine, wonderfully seductive man he really is.

As he set’s out to protect her from fortune hunters, they both see for themselves how the other has fared over the years and those well suppressed emotions that have been hidden and locked away for six years comes bubbling over. They are a very cute couple, what I like about Duke of Scandal is that the romance is very slow simmering, unlike the other books I have read by Foley; where as soon as you meet the couple, they are sparks from page one. This builds up throughout the book, they are both learning to trust, they are both complex individuals who after personal experiences they find it difficult to show their feeling’s, but Felicity is happy to try, and it is lovely seeing Jason working hard to prove that he is as honorable as his title states him to be.

By far the best scene’s in the book is when they are together just being themselves, when they let their guards down and the start to be playful and real, the banter is fun and entertaining which isn’t a surprise as Gealen Foley is a wonder with witty, smart and sexy character banter.

I have aid it before, but I’m going to say it again, but Foley is a too-good-to-be-true story-teller, she excels in drawing the reader in to her dark and glittery regency world and take them on a whirlwind journey. I have been an avid reader of her work for years and she never disappoints. Duke of Scandal is fresh, atmospheric and utterly absorbing. Jason and Felicity are emotionally raw and wonderfully crafted character’s who you instantly take a shine to – especially Jason, who is so swoon-worthy, it definitely makes you rather hot! 😉

I love the beginning of this new series and I can’t wait to get stuck into the rest.

After reading the prequel novella, I wanted to learn more about the main characters’ friends, and this book answered it.
I loved to see Felicity’s growing up, after years of refraining her true self, afraid to get hurt again, she decided to go after what she has always wanted, her brother’s best friend, the one who broke her heart all these years ago.
It was great to see her evolve from a rather shy creature to a bold one even if she remained rather innocent, she is not perfect but she tries, she risks her heart even if it might cost her a lot. She is also very forgiving, ready - past the choc- to accept her love’s by-blows.
About Jason, even if I can understand why he sought solace in the arms of so many women, to fill in some desperate way his life devoid of love. But why not having wait a while to give Felicity time to grow up. Afraid to be hurt, to lost his one and only true friend?
It was a sweet story of a rake brought to his knees by an unexpected miss. There was few drama, just how the hunt turned once Felicity decided to conquer Jason’s heart. It was rather funny. Then how they will manage their life together when they will have to deal with their whole family.
A very enjoyable read.

Duke of Scandal was and enjoyable story about Miss Felicity Carvel, Heiress who has been in love with her brother Peter Carvel's best friend since she was 8 years old. Now a Spinster at 23 and Heir to her Great Aunts fortune she sights her sights on the only man she has ever loved The Duke of Netherford, Jason Hawthorne. Jason is also know as the Naughty Duke. He has to illegitimate children by his former two Mistresses. Simon 4 and Annabelle 2. Both of there mothers are terrible. Felicity doesn't know about Jason's Children but Jason tries to be a good father to them. He just doesn't' seem to connect with his son. Jason's parents never were around him. He was left in the hands of his care givers. Jason loves and wants Felicity but doesn't give in to his love until nearly the end of the story. Her brother Peter is his best friend and he doesn't want to destroy that relationship. so for far too long he tries to stay away from Felicity. Here lies the problem for me. It took them to long to get together to much Angst and the reason for this was lame at best. Then there is the issue with the children they weren't necessary to the storyline. You only get a glimpse of them. If you read Historical Romances you know that poor little Simon can Never become the Duke's heir because he is illegitimate the child of an actress. The other problem I had was him and Felicity don't marry in the story, they are just engaged. For me the story might have been better for her to have become pregnant and him having to marry her and then work out his problems. The end of the story seemed unresolved and a very rushed ending to the story. Oh I am sick of the Spinster storyline too. Its over used.I guess there story might continue in the Duke of Riverwoods story bk 2.

This author used to be a favorite of mine. She was one of those that I would buy the day her new book was out. I was not a fan of her inferno club series--I actually quite hated it-- and have been waiting a loooonnnngggg time for it to finish. So FINALLY her new series has begun and I got it at midnight the day it was released and just finished it. Sadly, I have to say I didn't love it. All the elements were there, but it almost felt formulaic to me. Take all the right pieces, put them together and you have a hit, right? But it wasn't. It's hard to explain because yes, all the pieces are there but it just fell flat and I couldn't connect to these characters. I also felt that this was short on pages. Wasn't quite a full novel and I can only think if an extra 100 pages were included, maybe that would have helped flesh out these characters better. The h and H have loved each other since they were children, but you don't get any flashbacks to WHY or HOW. It just IS and you have to accept and go from there. I'm told in the beginning she jumps on his lap when she's fifteen and then for years after, he keeps his distance. We never get to experience that moment. This is just one example of why I had a hard time connecting.

3 stars. I have a hard time believing Gaelen Foley wrote this

I read the prequel to this and was a bit surprised by the dramatic change in her writing style. I loved the action/ drama of the inferno series and the knight family series. So I really wasn't expecting this very lighthearted offering.

I personally wasn't bothered by Felicity's "chase him until he caught her" pursuit of Jason - the girl knew what she wanted and was all in. You go girl! I do however question her intelligence. Why she wanted him was lost on me. Jason was beyond a rake - he was a full fledged man-ho. I am also not a fan of heroes with illegitimate children. One child I can forgive but two? And one of each? Poor Felicity is going to have to have his exes in her life forever and she won't even be able to give him his first son or daughter - it made me sad for her.

I will read the next book because I am intrigued by Rivenwood. But this book was not a keeper for me.

Couldn't finish. What's the point?
----------------

Bahahaha!! Stuff like this makes me roll my eyes so hard. *snort* The virgin's first time, OF COURSE.

"They were one.

“Come for me, Felicity,” he ground out, and with his next smooth thrust, she could do naught but obey.

She gasped and clung to him as he brought her to a shattering climax, then he followed her over the edge with a ragged cry of surrender. Convulsions of wild pleasure racked them both. Nearly sobbing with release, Felicity finally subsided into stillness, and Jason collapsed on top of her, a warm, heavy, delicious weight."

This whole book is making me wonder if the author is trolling the reader or if she legit believes in these characters. I honestly can't even tell.

This is a lovely book and I enjoyed it very much. The Moonlight Square series is not as deep and intense as the Inferno Club but a nice romance. I liked Felicity and Jason. Jason had terrible parents and he's trying to be a better father to his illegitimate children. He has always loved Felicity but made promises to her brother. Felicity has loved Jason since she was a child and understands him. That's all the plot I'll reveal.

The next book is the Duke of Rivenwood's story and I'm really looking forward to knowing his secrets. I also hope Peter, Felicity's brother, gets a HEA.
