Francesco Sedita was born on March 18 on Mott Street in the Little Italy section of New York, New York, to two native New Yorkers.

Sedita studied writing at the Gallatin School of New York University. "It's this incredible multi-disciplinary program that allowed me to study many aspects of writing, including screenwriting, fiction, and theatrical writing," he says. While at Gallatin, he was a Writing Fellow for Saturday Night Live. After graduating, he wrote and directed a show that ran Off-Off Broadway for 5 years. He is now the Creative Director at major children's book publisher. Miss Popularity is his first book.

Francesco has been writing since the second grade. "I wrote and illustrated a story about a dog named Blackie. My next-door neighbor read it, and when she told me how much she liked it, I realized right then that I wanted to be a writer. I love to tell people stories," he says. When he was in college, he focused on writing comedy, and even did stand-up for a time. In graduate school, he focused on writing literary fiction. "Miss Popularity seemed like a strange direction for me at first, but it was an editorial director at Scholastic who made me realize it was the book I was born to write!" says Francesco. "We were discussing the idea of a character who comes to a musty old school and totally transforms it with her personality and fashion sense, and we both had a really good laugh. And then a day or two later, I was walking down the street and the entire story came to me in a flash-I emailed my editor right away, and Cassie Knight was born!"

Francesco Sedita lives in Brooklyn, New York.

This book is about Cassie. Her birthday is coming up and her best friends from Texas are going to visit her for her birthday as a surprise!! She wants her best friends to like Etoile because Etoile is also her best friend and it would be best if they were all friends together. But once Laura and Erin arrive, everything changed. The girls do not like Etoile and Etoile doesn't like the guys. When Cassie is stuck in the middle, she doesn't know what to do. In the end, she figures a way to save their friendship right before her birthday party and it ends as her BEST birthday ever.

I picked this book to read because I wouldn't normally read these types of books but I read the back and it seems interesting. Also because I needed to read a variety of books for this month so I chose this book.

I finished it because it was interesting and I wanted to know what Cassie did to save the friendship and if Laura and Erin would accept Etoile for who she is and become friends. And they did so I'm glad i finished this book.

I would recommend this book to Fiona because she likes reading these types of books and she usually reads what I read. I think she would like it.

Overall, this book is good and there is a moral. The moral is that you should accept people for who they are and because they are your best friend, you have to adjust if you haven't seen them in a long time and if you can't accept the way they are now, it is hard to stay best friends.

Cassie has been living in Maine for six months. Lots of things have changed since her days in Houston, Texas, with her friends Erin and Laura.

Her thirteenth birthday is coming up, and her friends from Texas are coming to Maine to visit her! She can't wait to introduce her friends to her new BFF in Maine, Etoile.

When her friends meet, however, the girls don't get along and won't work out their differences. Can she get her three friends to make peace long enough to not ruin her birthday?

MISS POPULARITY AND THE BEST FRIEND DISASTER is a fun, quick read. The characters are well-developed and memorable, and the story is funny and holds the reader's interest. Those who like realistic fiction and friendship tales, along with the first two books in the series, will all enjoy reading this book.

In the latest installment of Cassie Knight's tale, she is preparing to celebrate her thirteenth birthday with a skating party.

She left her home state of Texas just six months ago to move to Maine and has made new friends. But what about those she left behind? No fear, it's Cassie after all. She is a master of keeping her friends in Texas in her life as well, especially with the latest technology.

But what happens when her Texas BFFs meet her Maine BFF? Catty words, petty arguments, and sparks that lead to more than just a headache for Cassie. Can't everyone just get along? And how can Cassie convince her friends that they don't have to like one another, but they do have to come together for her sake.

"Miss Popularity and the best friend of disaster were published by Scholastic paperback in the year 2011" It is a fiction, story of friendship. "Miss Popularity and the disaster of the best friend is a girl named Cassie Knight." Friends of Cassie from Texas are to visit for her thirteenth birthday. Cassie misses the girls of Texas friends and can't wait for his new BBF meetings, Etoile. But when Texas girls arrive they did not like Etoile and Etoile did like them. If the girls don’t work out the differences Cassie’s birthday celebration would be ruined, and you’ll never believe what happened next!!!

Nice story about being a girl and the different situations and emotions they encounter. This is purely a girl's book for this age group. It is an easy to read story that readers can relate to. It is nicely written and the characters are enjoyable and relatable.

This book, though possibly enjoyable to young readers, was a poor display of writing. The ethics encouraged in this novel are disrespectful to adult figures and harsh discussion among friends. The end does promote working things out with friends, but the means does not justify the ends. I would not encourage this book to my students, but it is a form of literature if it gets students reading.

First half of the book 2 stars.
I wondering have my 12 years old self ever spoke in overly girlish language like Cassie and her friends lol >.<
Last half of the book, 4 stars. I love Mary Ellen, she's calm and adult-like.

Good for the mid-to-late-elementary, pre-Clique series girls. Nothing difficult, but this one was clean and and easy read.
