At the moment this book is free on iBooks.
I'd started and rejected 8 books before I settled on this, years ago historical romances made up the majority of my reading but over the years I've moved over towards more modern romances so it made a nice change to read this.
It's a cute little read Amanda Rose Richardson is twenty-one the day the book opens and she's afraid she's going to end up an old maid, she's had suitors of course after all she's a lovely young woman with a good education and background plus she's wealthy but her father has rejected them all as far as he's concerned no one is good enough for his daughter and unfortunately it looks like from his perspective no one ever will be.
Her father Judge Richardson has never recovered from the abandonment and then death of his wife, he loved her with all his heart and has never been able to fully let her go which is the main reason he's so overprotective of Amanda. It's worth mentioning that he hates the French, his wife was French and he believes she ran away with a Frenchman, so the language has been banned from the house.
Amanda sees a life of spinsterhood stretching out before her and so she makes a stupid decision and arranges for her father's overseer to escort her to the ball (while her father's away of course) it's totally innocent on her part but Henry Tanner is a very unscrupulous and unpleasant man who desperately needs money and he views this as an opportunity to get some.
I won't say anymore because I don't want to spoil this but it's a nice easy read with some interesting characters.

Love Worth Fighting For
This a story of the sweetness of first love and saving a ladies reputation when she is taken advantage of. A marriage began as a way to save Amanda and became a love story with Renee. They worked their way through several problems and ended up in a very good place. Loved this book.

Too pat and predictable
It needed more edge and drama . Except for the one sex scene, it could have been written for a teenage audience.

This book caught my attention and was an easy read. I enjoyed the history parts and would read more by this author.

Engaging & Sweet
There were several small love stories pleasantly tangled in the main romance. I enjoyed the flow of the writing, it moved in and out of each character's point of view in a way is never seen before but made so much sense. The romance between Amanda and René was sweet and enjoyable, only one really intimate scene that was tastefully executed. Nealy all of the characters were very well rounded, I wish René's quick temper and sensitivity to his culture had been better explained, it didn't seem to fit his character very well but it was a minor distraction I would certainly red more of this author's work.

Just ok. Not very emotionally connecting for me but no real flaws with plot or character.

I followed the characters quite well and the story was intriguing. I liked it as I learned about that culture.
