Well, I am a husband and father. I love the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, stand up paddling, fishing, you know "man stuff" but I'm a sucker for chick flicks. I wrote Fields of Alicia, Waterproof, Across Borders, and the series Micah and have several other novels finished and in the making. My Cedar Branch series is a comedy that is well liked and earned an international book finalist award. And yes I am a raccoon lover, my wife and I rescue and release raccoons. I really loved reading Waterproof by Lee DuCote. My husband receives books for review and recommended this one to me. I love adventure, light romance, suspense, supernatural, good guys versus bad guys and no foul language or very little. This book has adventure, dreams, romance, supernatural, suspense, good vs bad, etc. All the stuff I like to read about. I don't remember reading any foul words - if so, obviously nothing that dampened the book for me. I also learned a bit more about Louisiana, Cajun people, fishing and treasure hunting. It's nice that the author knows his stuff and can write about it without getting a non-knowledgeable person like me, overwhelmed with too much detail. I love the ending. It has a real ending, but leaves open for a possible future story.

There were just a few grammatical mistakes, but nothing to hinder the enjoyment of the read. I think this book is great for the young to older adults like me.

Author Lee Ducote gave me a print copy of his book Waterproof for review.

Waterproof was fun on so many levels. First, it is a treasure hunt story. Replete with pirates, voodoo women, and maritime intrigue.

Next, it is the story of a romance decades in the making. Our heroes, childhood friends take many years to unite. Oops, I guess that could be a minor spoiler, but you learn that right away.

Set in the bayous of Louisiana, Waterproof it is the story of a voodoo curse, tormenting a young woman in love, spanning more than a hundred years.

There is action/adventure, romance, crime, intrigue, sex(romantic, not gratuitous), even some rock 'n' roll (no drugs). The multiple story lines weave through past and present seamlessly. Our heroes are well developed, sympathetic characters I found myself rooting for immediately. I wanted to scream at Spencer, (the main character) "TELL HER!". You'll see.

On one level it is a story of trust and loyalty. On another, it is a story of coming to terms with the past.

I find it hard to talk about any negatives with Waterproof. The story is tight and the characters are well developed. The setting for a treasure hunt is terrific, the bayou, and Cajun culture just plays so well with the story. It even sets itself up well for a sequel without resorting to a cliffhanger ending. I loved it.

If you are in the mood for a treasure hunting, adventure romance, you will be hard pressed to find a better read than Waterproof by Lee Ducote. Enjoy!

This novel had a powerful main character and a powerful underlying theme of actions and consequences. I liked the way the author set up the novel and that he made sure to give the reader plenty of information so that they came to understand the world he had created. One of my favorite things was the pacing. I felt like everything really flowed smoothly and led to an easy read.

The romance was also well done and felt validated by the way the characters feelings translated from the page.

There is not a lack of imagination used by Lee DuCote in writing this story. I was blown away by the sheer detail used in bringing the reader into the magical world he has created.

I loved the pacing in this story. It felt very believable and steady. The characters were plenty and well developed.

He sets up the world and characters very well, it was a steady flow of action, a beautifully woven romance, and an altogether great read.

This novel really starts off with a bang and doesnt let up.
I loved the way Lee Ducote told the story. It was very well thought out and this really showed through the characters and setting.
A very wonderful Suspenseful Adventure / Romance Novel.

You will definitely want to have plenty of allotted reading time before starting this one. It was hard to put down.
