Every Halloween, Find Me: A Dark Romance Novella

Rate this book
Three years ago, my security camera caught a murder.

The man holding the gun was Ronan Callaghan, king of the Irish mob.

I testified.
He got life.
I got witness protection.

New town. New name. New life.

Then, one week after I disappeared, a cream envelope appeared in my mailbox.

No stamp. No return address.

Two words. Hello, sweetheart.

Every Halloween, he gets a little closer. This year, the distance between us is running out.

A standalone dark romance novella full of obsession, stalking, twisted desire, and enough mind games to fuck with your head long after the last page.

Luna Ars writes dark romance for readers who want more than familiar tropes and predictable endings.

Her stories are filled with obsession, psychological twists, morally grey characters, dangerous love, and women who are never content to simply be rescued. They fight back. They make mistakes. They bite.

Luna likes stories that blur the line between love and possession, right and wrong, desire and destruction—and she has a particular weakness for the kind of twist that makes you rethink everything you just read.

Her goal is simple: to write books that get under your skin, mess with your head, and stay with you long after the final page.

ARC REVIEW

Sloane is just out here minding her own business, buying a security system like a responsible adult, and somehow ends up catching a MURDER. Because you can't even protect your house these days without getting dragged into a criminal investigation.

Now she has to testify against an Irish mobster, gets tossed into witness protection, and starts a new life as Ivy.
Then the letters start showing up from the very man she helped put behind bars. No address, no stamp, just mysteriously appearing like the postal service has decided to abandon all rules.

Then Halloween rolls around, she's at a haunted maze, and guess who shows up? The man who's supposed to be locked away in prison. Well, I'll be damned. Either prison security is a joke, or somebody needs to explain a few things.

I enjoyed this dark romance. It kept me guessing for a good portion of the book, although a few things were easier to figure out than a mystery with the culprit wearing a name tag.
There were also a few writing choices I wasn't completely sold on.

Overall, it was a good read

Thanks to Book Sirens for sending me an advanced copy to read and review

This book has a twist but I love getting shit spoilt for me so I’m gonna spoil it in my review for anyone else who does too so read at your own risk.

Sloane has to go into witness protection because her home security camera caught the head of the Irish mob killing somebody outside her apartment and the FBI tell her she’s in danger of retaliation so she has to hide away. The man that’s convicted, Ronan tells her in court he’ll see her soon.

When she’s relocated she starts getting letters from him, he knows everything she’s doing and what’s she’s wearing etc. She meets a guy and they hook up and the next day he’s found dead. She’s gets a letter saying something like ‘did he make you come? I hope he did it would be a shame if he died for nothing’ The fbi guy comes and asks her about the dead guy but he says he has no reason to believe her identity is compromised and that Ronan is still locked up in prison and she doesn’t tell him about getting the letters or anything. On Halloween she goes to a haunted maze thing that’s pitch black and Ronan is there and touches her but then all of a sudden disappears again. The letters continue on/off over the next year and on Halloween again Ronan tells her to meet him at a house, the house feels vaguely familiar to her but she doesn’t know why, she spends the night with Ronan, they have sex and she falls asleep. The next day she wakes up back in her bed at home again with no memory of getting home and her security cameras glitched during the night and showed her suddenly home again.
Then over the next year the letters are sporadic and then stop and Sloane starts losing her mind over it, she eventually tells FBI man about the letters but when she shows him the letters are all blank, security footage makes it seem like she’s sent them to herself, she insists it’s real and tells fbi man to bring her to him in prison- he goes and ‘Ronan’ is just like nope wasn’t me and Sloane has a full breakdown. FBI gets her a psychiatrist and Sloane starts to believe maybe she did imagine it. She gets a call from FBI that Ronan was killed in prison so she really loses her mind then.

On Halloween he turns up, she’s thinking she’s imagining it because he’s ’dead’ he shows her an old photo of the 2 of them together plus a… twin brother called Caleb.
Sooo Caleb took his place in prison because 5 years earlier Sloane and Ronan were actually a couple and planning to run away together when it went wrong and she was injured and woke up in hospital and didn’t remember him, he was told to give her space to heal so he stayed away but still watched over her. When he killed the man outside her apartment he was actually protecting her, he could have made the footage go away but he wanted a court case so she would see him and he was hoping it would spark her memory of him. It didn’t and he was convicted and his brother took his place because he was a wreck without her and so he could keep watching over her. When she was relocated he sent the letters hoping she’d somehow suddenly remember him, she didn’t but when she fell for him anyway he decided he didn’t need to wait for her to remember him he wanted her again as she was so his plan was to let her go ‘crazy’ so she would seem nuts to the fbi and when he faked his death he could then fake hers and it would seem more credible or something idk? So he finally tells her most of what happened and she remembers some of it. So now they’re living in secret I guess? He’s still the head of the mob but just rules from the shadows with his brother or something- oh and the world doesn’t know their twins so that’s how they got away with it.

-Single PoV- the h
-h25, H??
-Omd- uhh the h technically cheated on the H and I hated this. She didn’t remember him so she thought she was single and she slept with someone she met at her store and the H killed him after. The sex with OM is not descriptive just says like ‘he was better in bed than I expected’ and ‘by the time he rolled onto his back beside me’
-No owd- so no OWD and no mention at all about the H and if he was celibate during their separation. From the night she’s injured until they’re reunited properly at the end it’s been 5 years. I’ve decided to convince myself he was celibate since he was so obsessed with her but I would have loved this clarified.
-HFN since epilogue is only 6 months later

If she hadn’t slept with OM and it was clear about the H during their separation I would have rated this 5⭐️ just for the vibes and the twist. For some reason I started to think this was a PenPal situation and they were both ghosts the whole time or something so at least they were alive and together in the end.

Every Halloween, Find Me by Luna Ars is an addictive, twist‑laden story that kept me hooked from the first page. I loved how fully fleshed‑out the characters were — layered, flawed, and so easy to root for — and every turn in the plot felt earned. Just when I thought I knew exactly where the story was heading, Luna swerved in a completely different direction, and it made the ending land even harder. The final twist was clever, satisfying, and left me grinning because it tied the whole journey together so well. An absolutely fantastic read.

I flew through this book! The mystery hooked me quickly, and I enjoyed trying to piece everything together. I had my suspicions before the reveal, but it still gave me that satisfying “oh, now that makes sense” moment.

The romance was cute, and Ronan definitely had that obsessed energy I enjoy. I could feel their connection, but I wanted more time to watch it develop. The little notes were sweet; I just wished there were longer, more meaningful exchanges to give their relationship more depth.

My biggest issue was how rushed everything felt, especially toward the end. More character development, more romantic buildup, and more time to sit with the reveal could have pushed this toward five stars for me. Overall, a fun, easy read with light spice and dark elements that left me wishing it were longer!

Every Halloween, Find Me is a dark Halloweenish romance.

I am obsessed with this story. Sloane sees something she wishes she didn't and now has to go into protection when she testifies against Ronan. However, even when she is hidden away, he finds her… or does he. This story was a bit of a mind twist. As the story is progressing we are getting more and more into establishing each character and then we get a twist thrown in and I was wondering if what I was reading was real or a figment of my imagination. For being a novella, it felt like a full length novel as there was a lot of development within the story. Highly recommend reading this one!

The best way to describe "Every Halloween Find Me" is intense. Sloane/Ivy is running from the past as a protected witness. The person she is running from finds her - Ronan. They develop this very twisted relationship that is intrusive and obsessive, and it makes me wonder what is real and what isn't. There are so many twists and turns, I couldn't wait to finish and find out the truth.

Mind 🤯 If you’re expecting a typical Halloween stalker story, think again. You can think you have the main characters figured out, but then you get just a hint of something to make you guess. Then Luna Ars blows it all up, and you are questioning everything. This is so twistingly good! I’ll leave you with one question to solve for me. How did she know to turn left when gps told her right? She wasn’t actually going to the real one. 🧐

How horrible to have your life totally uprooted through no fault of your own. But, it’s worse to think you are going crazy. Knowing something happened, having proof, then POOF it’s all gone.

For a short book, I felt this was very well written and the story made sense. There wasn’t a lot of extra fluff, just what was necessary to tell the story. There wasn’t a characters were great and I love how everything came together perfectly.

I’ve done a few arcs, and they can be hit or miss. But I go in with an open mind and ready to enjoy it either way. This one? Absolute roller coaster.. I smiled for most of the book, I had my mind blown at least three times, I cried, I had my mind blown again.
Outstanding work from Luna Ars.. my first book from her, but definitely not the last.
Sloane and Ronan are my new favorite book couple.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖 𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙮?
𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙘𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙆𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙈𝙤𝙗.

Ronan is our MMC, a criminal, and King of the Irish Mob. He's alluring, dripping in dark mystery (ahem-smex appeal-ahem) and a criminal background. Covered in tattoos and rippling with muscles that leave even, me - YES, ME - in a drooling mess, and I'm not even the damn FMC (unfortunately). A man of structure and discipline, who’s calculating, too, doesn’t mind getting his hands bloody for her, AND dressed in a well fitted suit, too?

HAND HIM OVER.

You, sir, are a problem🤤 ...A problem I have no issue having.

Inside was a single card, the handwriting as neat and controlled as ever.
Did he make you c-me, sweetheart?
I hope so.
It would be tragic if he d-ed for nothing.
R.

Anyways he also has some stalker tendencies for our unassuming FMC. That's a walking red flag, you say? I say that's a man who knows what and who he wants! A man with a purpose. And the way his love for Sloan deepens and strengthen is so heartwarming! He actually does have a patient side, particularly for her, a special soft spot and buys his love interest a pearl necklace. Absolutely adorable.

Next we got Sloan, the FMC and poor damsel-in-distress who gets put into the witness protection program because her camera accidentally records a murder. Wonderful, isn't it? Her character is fun and sassy who thinks quick on her toes. She strong, confident, quick-witted. But when her mind begins to question reality and the layers of confidence crack, that's truly interesting how she deals with it all.

“Oh my God.”
I followed her gaze.
A large black sign stood at the edge of the festival grounds.
THE BLACKOUT MAZE.
Underneath it:
NO LIGHTS.
NO PHONES.
FOLLOW THE ROPE.
FIND YOUR WAY OUT.
“Nope, not a chance.”
Marie’s smile widened.
“Absolutely fucking not.”
“Oh, come on.”
“I enjoy seeing.”
“That’s the point. You can’t.”

I mean, just imagine: reality crumbling before you, contradictions making you question your sanity, your emotions getting the better of you when you can't rationalise the simplest of things. Spiralling. Her feelings are valid. I'd have lost my damn mind and ending up in a facility. She's such a strong FMC and she comes out fiercer.

On a lighter note, her comments and inner monologue make me like her so much: she's hilarious and knows how to make the most of even the most crazy situations. I think she dealt with everything so well considering she has to basically give up her whole life only to have to deal with another issue: a stalker.

𝙀𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚, 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙮 𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚.

𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙤𝙗𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣.

𝘽𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙝-𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙚.

I knew Ronan had been there.
There was no point pretending otherwise anymore.
What I still didn’t understand was why he could break into my bedroom in the middle of spring but had chosen Halloween for the next time I’d actually see him.

That night, I asked.
Why Halloween?
Sloane.

He replied the following afternoon.
You’ll find out.
R.

The way I inhaled this book needs to be studied. It's fast-paced, atmospheric in the most eerie way and so delicious. Chemistry of the MMC and FMC so good! I enjoyed their interactions very much via messaging each other with notes. Why is that lowkey romantic? And the way he keeps pushing her buttons and her getting flustered, denying her growing crush or fascination talking to him is fun indeed.

And guess what else I overly enjoyed? A black-out corn maze scene. Oh my gosh, why do I love these so much? I'm not ashamed to say how hypnotizingly addictive they are to me. Thank you Luna Ars!

Then a voice slid through the darkness directly beside my ear.
Low.
Deep.
Impossible.
“You’ve been a bad girl, sweetheart.”
Every drop of blood in my body turned to ice.
No.

“You’ve been a bad girl, sweetheart.” His breath moved warm against the side of my neck as I felt his rough hand slide under my dress finding my lace th-ng.
“Do you know what truly happens to Little Red Riding Hood, sweetheart?” Ronan whispered, as he ripped the thin fabric leaving me bare.
I could feel every hard line of his body pressed against mine, the strength in him impossible to ignore.
I should have been terrified.
I was terrified.
And yet my body betrayed me anyway, I was f-cking w-t.

We have suspenseful mystery makes you want to solve what is the whole f-cking plot, and every time you think you have it figured out, a lemon hits your eye. *Negative buzzer sounds* Wrong again. That's what I like about this little novella! Kept me on the edge of my seat. You can probably tell I'd be a terrible investigator in real life. Plus the ending leaves me gasping more, which doesn't help my asthmatic azz.

A lovely HEA!

If you like a short dark romance that takes you on a thrill of psychological mind-games and obsession, then this one is for you!

The truth is, this story has a premise that hooked me from the very beginning. A protected witness, an Irish mobster sentenced to life in prison, and messages that reveal the past is much closer than it should be. And that “Hi, honey”? I’m sorry, but I’ll never sleep soundly again.
I love that sense of constant danger: not knowing when something is going to happen or whether the protagonist will really be able to escape everything she left behind. Plus, I think the Halloween detail is a stroke of genius, because it turns every year into a countdown and makes the tension even more unsettling. It’s like living in constant anticipation of someone knocking on your door, knowing that, if they do, nothing will ever be the same again.
There’s something especially unsettling about the idea that a person can change their name, move to a new city, and start over… and yet still never feel safe. I’m really curious to see how the relationship between the protagonist and Ronan develops, and just how far someone who seems determined to find her at any cost will go.
I think this is a story with a lot of potential to keep you hooked, make you suspicious of everything, and leave you with that mix of nerves and curiosity that pushes you to keep reading just one more chapter. It’s the kind of read that seems made for a dark autumn night: with a blanket, something hot to drink, and the door firmly shut.
Without a doubt, I find the concept very appealing, and it has that dark twist that makes you want to find out what really happened and what the future holds for the protagonist. Because, let’s be honest, after receiving a letter like that, I’d already be thinking about moving again.
“Every Halloween gets a little closer.” That line alone is enough to pique my curiosity.
I loved the ending.

This was a very easy book to read, but in my opinion, it needed more time and depth. Everything felt rushed, and I couldn't help feeling that the story could have been explored so much better.
I would have loved more flashbacks from her perspective, a more detailed account of how she lived after everything happened, and a chance to experience those events through her eyes instead of having so much explained by him. I also wanted to understand how she felt when she first met him and how her experiences shaped the person she became.
The brothers' relationship and their shared history could have been explored in much more detail. I would have loved to see them growing up together, understand their dynamics, and witness the moments that shaped their bond. More scenes showing their interactions, the atmosphere of the house, and the everyday dynamics between the characters would have made the story feel much more alive.
I also think the brothers' plan to bring her back into their lives could have been developed further. Seeing how they planned to help her remember, how they decided who should remain in her life, and how those relationships unfolded would have added so much more emotional depth.
I didn't hate the book at all. It was an enjoyable and easy read, but there was so much potential here that I ended up feeling disappointed. I wanted more backstory, more character development, and, above all, more time to experience the story instead of having so much of it explained to me.
There was a good story here. I just wish it had been given the time and depth it deserved.

Ronan Callaghan. That’s it. That’s the review.

KIDDING. But seriously, that man has officially earned himself a spot among my all time favorite MMCs, and I will not be taking questions at this time 🥵🖤

What a GOOD freaking time this novella was!

I absolutely devoured Every Halloween, Find Me. The pacing was fantastic. Quick, addictive, and deliciously unsettling without ever feeling rushed. There’s something so satisfying about a shorter story that manages to pull you in completely without making you feel like you’ve missed out on anything. Luna Ars absolutely nailed that balance.

Sloane was such a fun FMC to follow. She’s tough, sharp-tongued, and not particularly interested in taking anyone’s shit. But what I loved most was watching that confidence begin to unravel as she started questioning everything she thought she knew to be real. That creeping uncertainty? The psychological spiral? GIVE IT TO ME.

And then there’s Ronan fucking Callaghan.

A deadly man with a hidden agenda? An air of danger and mystery? PLEASE. I was sold. There’s just something about a man who makes you question his intentions while simultaneously making you desperate to know every single one of them. Ronan, you beautiful, dangerous problem 🤤

I loved the atmosphere, the characters, the pacing, and the way the story kept me wanting more. It was dark, entertaining, and genuinely such an enjoyable read from beginning to end.

Five stars and a new fictional obsession, ✉️🖤

I managed to snag this treat from BookSirens to read. It’s a novella—not particularly long—so it was a quick read. And wow, once I started, I couldn’t put it down! First of all, I loved Sloane; her witty remarks made me laugh out loud more than once. The writing felt really fluid, light, and entertaining; it kept the story moving at a great pace, so there was never a dull moment. By the time I finished, I found myself wishing I could have read a few hundred more pages of this story. Ronan, of course, was the classic, handsome Irish mobster—the kind who instantly captures any woman’s attention—and he possessed a truly delicious, palpable charisma that leapt right off the page. Ah, Ronan. A walking red flag, yet I was completely won over. Sloane ends up with a stalker, and soon the line between fear and intrigue begins to blur—leaving the reader racking their brain, wondering how all of this could possibly be happening. Then, the plot takes a sudden turn; I nearly shouted, "No, it can't end like this!"—only to be tossed into even more twists and turns. Since it’s a novella, the narrative doesn’t dwell on things for pages on end, but—greedy as I am—I would have loved to learn much more about the events that led up to the whole situation. The ending is surprising on some level—though not exactly mind-blowing—but it still made me sigh with a bit of delight. Light, slightly suspenseful, a touch steamy, and seasoned with humor, too. Ah, I’d love more of this.

Wow!!! Just wow!!!! What a great read especially for the spooky season!

A smurder is caught on Sloanes camera and now she has to testify against the man who committed the murder. RONAN!!!
After she's relocated under witness protection, given a new name, a new place and now owns her own candle shop (poor girl was an architect), she starts receiving letters from the man whom she help put away.

Ronan is one heck of an MMC! I absolutely loved his character so much! Especially when you find out his rhyme and reasoning for all that he did!!! STAND UP MAN MY DUDE!!!

Sloane, I just adored her. Going through so much change and having to leave everything behind to start over new, to now having a man stalk her who she ends up kind of falling for lol.

The twist at the end will seriously have you going WTFFFFF! It was such a good plot twist, one I wasn't expecting, and it just made the read even more enjoyable.

I will say the only thing I wasn't enjoying about the book was that there were a lot of chapters where the same thing just kept getting repeated in every single chapter. The receptiveness was just a little ehhhhh. Oh, and I wish there was alot more explanation of certain things that were left kind of unanswered.

I recommend this read but please check the TW!!!

A huge thank you to Luna Ars for providing an advanced copy of Every Halloween, Find Me.

If you are looking for a quick read to get you into the Halloween spirit, this book is an excellent choice! Freakin’ fantastic read! I usually predict plot twists easily, but Every Halloween, Find Me completely threw me for a loop. This 5-star psychological thriller is a brilliant, unpredictable mind-trip that delivers an unforgettable twist and deeply emotional character dynamics. I could have NEVER anticipated how this story ended.

Luna Ars does an incredible job with the psychological depth of this book. She writes Sloan’s feelings so deeply that I felt every single emotion right along with her. Everything felt so real that I genuinely started thinking I was losing my mind right along with her.

And Ronan… damn. His love for Sloan, his willingness to wait that long, and how successfully he pulled off that plot twist? Yes, I want that in my life.

It is an absolute masterpiece of a mind-trip, and the final payoff is incredible. Easily a 5-star read!

Two words. Hello, sweetheart. And suddenly, I was obsessed. 🖤

I was obsessed from the start and finished this in just a few hours because putting it down? Not an option. Apparently, I had plans to do absolutely nothing until I knew how this was going to end.

And the PLOT? Was PLOTTING. 🔥

Everytime I thought I had it figured out, this book swerved in a different direction. I was connecting dots, making predictions, only for Luna to basically laugh in my face and remind me I knew NOTHING.

The twists and turns kept me turning the pages, and that ending? I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. The way everything was wrapped up, was clever, unexpected, and ridiculously satisfying. 🖤

If you love obsessive stalking, possessive MMCs, twisted mind games, and men who treat witness protection like a minor inconvenience….

READ, THIS. BOOK. 🖤🔥

Review of advanced copy received from the author. All opinions are my own.

What the hell did I just read?! 😂

I was NOT expecting to like this book as much as I did, but I actually loved it! I received this book as an ARC, and honestly, I originally chose it because the cover caught my attention and the little blurb I read had me intrigued. I figured, why not give it a shot? And I’m so glad I did!

This was a short, quick read that I actually finished while I was at work because I could not put my phone down. I NEEDED to know what was going to happen next. Especially when Sloane confronts Ronan in jail and he denies EVERYTHING?! Excuse me, sir?! At that point, I was fully invested.

And then THE TWIST?! I was not expecting it at all. I mean, it wasn’t some huge, earth-shattering twist, but it was definitely enough to have me sitting there thinking, “What the actual fuck?!”

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was quick, entertaining, kept me hooked, and definitely caught me off guard a few times. I’m really glad I took a chance on it!

WOW!!! page turner read in one sitting.

"Every Halloween, Find Me" captivated me from the very first page. We are introduced to Sloane, a fantastic architect who accidentally records a murder on her home security system. As a result, she is forced to enter witness protection after capturing something she wishes she hadn't— all because her friend insisted she needed to feel safe in her apartment.

The courtroom scenes are filled with humorous banter, adding a delightful snarkiness to the story, which I absolutely love. The narrative then shifts to Sloane hiding out and making candles. I truly hope I never have to go into witness protection!

Despite being hidden away, Ronan Callaghan, mob boss, whose locked in prison, seems to find her—or does he? The unexpected twists blur the line between reality and imagination, keeping me engaged throughout. I highly recommend this book!

‼️I was given a arc for free and this is my honest review‼️

I want to start of by saying that this was a nice palette cleanser and was a very easy book to read. It was jam packed with something and was never boring.

I do feel like this would be great as a full length novel and described in more detail and shown to us. A lot of the past and the twist we had at the end was just sort of told to us instead of shown. It would have been great if we got more information and maybe some flashbacks, so we can see what happened instead of told what had happened.

Also the spicy scenes were very brief and short. I wish they were longer and things were described more, it would have made it spicier.

I did really enjoy this book and it was a fun read and I will read from the author in the future.

Wow, this book GOT ME! Luna had me feeling like I WAS CRAZY for a few chapters! Omg the plot twist at the end! I literally felt EVERY emotion between the last chapter & the epilogue (thank you for that by the way!) I don’t wanna say to, to much bc I don’t want to spoil but this book was SO good! Ronan definitely has a place in my head lmao. I will be thinking about this book for weeks & recommending it to everyone!!!
