This book is separated into two parts. The first part consists of memories as a patrolman. The second part references my years as a sergeant. I divided the book this way for the ease of reading because patrolman’s work and sergeant’s responsibilities are so completely different. Some memories are hilarious and others will leave a tear in your eye. Some have been embellished for your enjoyment and others have been recreated from accounts learned after work while sharing a cold beer with fellow officers. Names have been changed and any reference to any real person is accidental and coincidental. These are all part of my life-long experiences that I share with you. Please enjoy my thirty years of vaudeville.
Stories of a Chicago Police Officer- Outstanding series of short stories, most of which I had heard over a beer from the author. Having worked with the people depicted in this book, or those just like them I can say that these stories actually happened. A good read and insight into the world of police work in the 60's through 2000's.
As a retired police officer of 33 years and coming from a Chicago police family, this book was very real and entertaining. It brought back memories of my younger years and stories my grandfather would tell. Definitely worth the read.
Everyone should read this book for an inside view of the steamy side of law enforcement on Chicago's North side. Book was enjoyable in spite of the atrocious grammar and syntax.
Great book, I enjoyed every story in the book and at the end was amazed at the terrible danger in big cities for our very brave officers of law enforcement!
The author is a great story teller. They hold you and make you want to keep reading more. IO am a retired police officer myself and I can see each one of these stories as if I was there.
