Without Reason

Rate this book
A man with no features, save a pair of wireframe glasses that glow bright against the world around him, aimlessly wanders the countryside on a senseless killing spree.

Ruth, a young police officer within that countryside, is called out to one of the crime scenes and the brutality of it all consumes her. For no reason other than to discover a purpose for these killings she wades through the wake of death the man leaves behind, unearthing his violent past and becoming more like the very person she hunts.

A quiet, measured cat-and-mouse story that meanders through unthinkable violence in one breath and the beauty of absolute uncertainty in the next.

Waited a long time for him to finally release the full version! Before this he only released a few chapters. Totally worth the wait though. Loved the ending. One of those books that I keep thinking about randomly throughout the day haha definitely recommended!

A serial killer on the loose. A female cop struggling to earn respect in rural Wyoming. In the cat and mouse game, only she can take him down.

The setup is promising and the first chapter is fantastic. Unfortunately, the novel backslides from there. The characters feel like shadows of themselves. Dibb clearly had a plan but struggled with the execution. Plot points were confusing or implausible. At times it felt as though even the author was disconnected from their story. It feels like the author was in a bet to see how much gratuitous violence they could include before they reached their writing goal.

I'd stay clear of this and save your money. Speaking of which....Amazon, can I get a refund?
