Mylo Carbia is a Hollywood screenwriter turned #1 bestselling author widely known for her work in the horror-thriller genre and trademark of surprise twist endings.

Ranked among “The Greatest Horror Writers of All Time" by Ranker.com, "The Top 10 Horror Writers Alive Today" by Booklaunch, and "The Most Influential Authors" by Richtopia.com, her award-winning writing style has been described as "a perfect mix between Stephen King, M. Night Shyamalan and Quentin Tarantino, but infused with a signature female sharpness that is all her own."

Born in Jackson, New Jersey, Carbia famously spent her childhood years writing to escape the terrors of growing up in a severely haunted house. By the age of 17, Carbia was already well established as a prolific young playwright. By the age of 30, her very first screenplay was optioned only 28 days after completion, earning Carbia a three-picture-deal and the cover of Hollywood Scriptwriter in 2003.

After that time, Carbia moved to Manhattan and quietly penned numerous television and film projects under her production company, Zohar Films. While she was there, she earned the nickname "The Queen of Horror" and the reputation of being one of Hollywood's top film ghostwriters in the horror genre.

In 2015, Carbia left Hollywood to release a series of novels all featuring strong female protagonists. Her debut novel THE RAPING OF AVA DESANTIS—a story about a woman who waits 15 years to seek revenge against the families of three wealthy fraternity boys who assaulted her in college—hit #1 bestseller in four categories and won five awards including the prestigious 2016 Silver Falchion Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fiction.

Her second novel, VIOLETS ARE RED—A horror-thriller about an aging Manhattan housewife who captures her husband's young mistress and quietly keeps her prisoner in the basement—was called the best story of 2019 by PopHorror.com, hit #1 New Release and #1 in American Horror on Amazon, and continues to receive critical acclaim from readers and critics alike.

Carbia’s highly anticipated, science-fiction horror-thriller Z.O.O.—the story of a young girl with albinism who is abducted by aliens in pure daylight, only to discover they are creating a zoo of Earth—is scheduled for worldwide release on October 25, 2022.

The Raping of Ava DeSantis by Mylo Carbia is a knockout 'I Spit on your Grave' style revenge horror that is perfectly paced and practically impossible to put down.

The first chapter takes place in 2006 and a gentleman's trip to a sex club, his new dominatrix takes things purposely too far and he ends up with a plastic bag on his head, 3 minutes and counting. The whispered words of a name from the past, the last thing he will ever hear.

The story then goes back to its origin and 1991 where 18 year old Ava DeSantis, a grungy looking plain girl, ignored by most, catches the eye of three privileged rich boy's. The good looking nice guy wants to pay Ava to help him with his studies, the details to be ironed out at a party. The three friends invite Ava back to their upper class dwelling, plenty of booze, drugs and a sickeningly violet rape scene.

The characters are scrupulously laid out, the rich nice guy that doesn't remember a thing, wasn't mentally taking part, was kinda forced into it, yeah fucking right. The brash annoying jock that takes everything for granted, a cut above the rest and finally the nobody, he's there to make up the numbers and provide a particularly gruesome ending.

The Rape scene is not overplayed, there's enough there to grasp what's happening and who does what, in fact it's very well described. Morning comes and it finally dawns on these animals exactly what they've done, first thought, how the fuck do we get out of this.

"We'll clean her up. Alcohol, peroxide, we'll fix her up best we can. They won't be able to find a damn thing on her body."
"And what about the inside?" Sebastian looked at the others with deep concern.
After a loud sniffle, David finally spoke up. "My Momma left her turkey baster here at Thanksgiving."

The immediate emphasis going on the tragic after affects and the power plays that people with money take for granted. The rapists don't get what they deserve, not yet anyway, for now they get away scot-free and Ava DeSantis. She gets one million dollars, half now and half in fifteen years, and the gift of giving birth, cruelly taken from her.

Forward fifteen years and its gametime but this isn't a quick kill all and disappear type of revenge. This is a slow seeping suspenseful vengeance that dips into horror and eroticism. Dwelt on for years till madness threatens and not restricted to the three culprits. She inserts herself into the life of her chief assailant with calculated and fearless audacity, confusing his feelings, while at the same time getting friendly with nice rich guys pregnant wife.

Meticulously planned by a beautiful and dangerous woman, an enthralling revenge trip that goes just where you want it to go with a horrific end and a brilliant twist. My favourite part of which there were many, was Mr nobody with the turkey baster idea. David gets his comeuppance in spectacular fashion, a play that’s worth the admission price alone.

The Raping of Ava DeSantis by Mylo Carbia is a disturbingly perfect horror story, one of the best I've read this year. Simple, yet powerfully told, the writing is unabashedly paced with riveting characters and a completely gripping story. This certainly deserves to be filmed and I look forward to reading more from Mylo Carbia.

Review from HorrorUnderground.org

The Raping of Eva DeSantis
Rockefeller Publishing Group
Author: Mylo Carbia

Set in 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia, The Raping of Ava DeSantis tells the story of a working class college student who is brutally attacked by three wealthy fraternity brothers, then confronted with the decision of a lifetime: accept money to stay quiet or seek justice with the police. What she does in response is the basis of this captivating woman’s revenge horror story that will have readers talking for years to come.

As hinted at in the title, Ava is gang raped by several affluent, Southern white males. I want to preference this review with the fact that this is a work of fiction. Yes, events as horrific as this are very real and should be brought to attention, but this is a work of fiction and my judgments on the characters, their actions, and on the writing of this book is solely meant to be aimed at this book and not any real life incident.

The author of this novel, Mylo Carbia, is a Hollywood script writer, which is very easy to tell when reading this book. This is the first novel I have ever read that reads exactly like a script with very little discernible between the two. The Raping of Ava DeSantis reads like a script that either Carbia was never able to sell or is now hoping to sell. Each chapter reads exactly like a scene in the script, complete with a chapter title page that establishes scene/shot information on a script. These title pages do nothing to further the story, they only increase the amount of times you are turning the page. Speaking of which, the book runs at a hefty 391 pages and if you were to cut out the needless chapter title pages and decrease the font size from its current appallingly large scale, this book would be reduced to about 150 or so pages. This book takes about an hour and a half to read, there is no need for the frustratingly large page count.

I digress. Moving back on track. Mylo writes with a screen writers flair. There is very little description, which boggles the mind as to why she would be drawing comparisons to Stephen King if she is lacking one of the biggest elements that defines his writing style. When she does describe a character, she only describes either how attractive or unattractive they are. Seriously. She even uses such wit filled narrative to describe female character as being so ugly and unattractive that a character description would be wasted on her. Later on, she describes an overweight woman as having the look of a harpooned killer whale. Given that Carbia’s bio states that she set out to write stories with strong female protagonists, then why is she going so far out of her way to use bullying descriptors in her novels? This combined with the quotes on the first few pages that reference how “beautiful” or “hot” she is seems to go against any plans for writing a tale that empowers women. I found this all to be as vile and disgusting as the acts her characters commit. Mylo Carbia is not a role model for women in horror, she is a set back.

In regards to the plot, this novel never reaches the exploitation of I Spit On Your Grave nor does it have the mystery and intrigue of Gone Girl. What we have is a very thin plot that is stretched out way too far. Yes the rape took place, but Ava was bought off. She never wanted to seek revenge. Why the change of heart 15 years later? Well, we get a response to that in what turns out to be nothing more than a Scooby Doo reject story, a finale that is so mind boggling bad it is offensive. The plot, especially in regards to the final act, are downright assaults on the reader's intelligence. The implausibility is so far fetched that it made me want to throw the book across the room.

Generally when I come across something, be it book or movie, that is so viciously bad I just do not review it. I ignore it and move on. I really do hate to be so negative, but the fact that this book is gaining a lot of attention and sales is frustrating to me, a male who supports feminist ideals, and enjoys great horror. The self appointed Queen of Horror has no right to wear this title, at least not in regards to narrative fiction. I have no idea what scripts she has worked on, so I cannot judge her on that. What I can say about her novel is please avoid this at all costs. If you are looking for a novel that is written by a female, stars a female protagonist, is set in the horror/revenge genre, I beg you to read Catherine Cavendish’s Dark Avenging Angel, which is one of the best horror novels I have read this year, not because she is a female, but because she is a tremendous writer. Avoid this book, devoid of any intellect and seek out the work of Cavendish, Mary Sangiovanni, Monica J. O’Rourke and others.

I had heard good things before the release of this book so when I saw it had been released I picked up a copy. This is an excellent and fast-paced horror. The main part of the story is based 15 years after the actual attack when she decided it is time to take some revenge for the suffering they have caused her. It is odd in a way to be rooting for the killer but you really cannot help it here as gruesome as the deaths are you can't help but feel they deserve it. The ending was brilliant and very hard to see coming making a great finale for the book.

Overall an excellent tale of revenge that is very hard to put down. Highly recommended.

This book caught my attention after two friends of mine had read it and couldn't stop talking about it. I hate when people tell me spoilers and let me know the endings of books before I read them- so I knew I had to read this book, and quick, before they spilled their knowledge to me on the storyline. It didn't take long for me to get in pace with this story though- and I sat down and finished it much quicker than I anticipated. This book was so well written and had me on the edge of my seat the entire way through. I felt as though I couldn't read it fast enough. I was enthusiastically passing through the pages and no matter how hard I tried to take a break from this book- I couldn't set it down until I reached the end.

The Raping of Ava DeSantis follows the story of a young woman who is taken advantage of by three prestigious frat boys. Because Ava is of a lesser class than these 'wealthy' young men, her case is easily demeaned as unimportant and the boys offer her cash in order for her to keep the event a secret. Ava, though, chooses to take a different route- seeking her own revenge and making the men who did her wrong pay at a later point in their lives. This book is epic on so many levels, because it allows you to sympathize with a person who is doing bad things to the people who did her bad. The idea of a 'horror-ridden revenge plot' often isn't associated with a likable main character, but this book opened up a unique perspective in the fact that you want Ava to get revenge as much as she does.

The book does not share the exact rape scene, but rather follows Ava as she searches out redemption for herself against the three men who wronged her. It's a suspenseful plot that keeps you moving along. I never really knew what was going to happen next and even when I thought I'd grasped the concept the story, something new was thrown at me that had me wondering what in the world was going to happen next. I realize now why two of my friends were so eagerly discussing it; by the time you reach the end you've been on a heck of a ride. This was unlike any other horror/suspense novel I have ever read. It was ridiculously well-written and full of surprises that made it such an eventful and memorable read.

If you're looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and have you digging your nails into the pages because of the intensity of the storyline- The Raping of Ava Desantis is by far an excellent choice. Extremely well written with a thick plot and a memorable main character, I couldn't easily put this book down- and once you start, nor will you.

I have been looking forward to meet and greet a good horror story since I haven’t tried a pure horror novel in my life. That’s when I got my hands on this novel and found reviews comparing the author to Stephen King. It was a mistake from my part to believe a novel praised as the next Stephen King to be a great debut to my horror novel exploration. The Raping of Ava DeSantis was one of the most underwhelming adventures, especially when the author proclaims herself as “The Queen of Horror”. This book follows three college student who commit one of the most repulsive crimes known to man: rape. Awaken in a hospital bed with not only the most brutal physical wounds but a psychological trauma, Ava DeSantis is left no choice when the mother of one the guy, a fairly popular kid in school with powerful parents, asks—more like demands—that she keeps the whole situation silent for a large sum of money. It is then that Ava embarks on a vengeful adventure a couple years later on the three men and their family.

Let’s get one thing straight. Although there is 390 pages to this book, a huge amount of it is filled with blank pages, a chapter title page and a giant tribal phoenix tattoo. Not to mention that the font and spacing is pretty intense for a novel found in the adult horror section. This is quite frustrating since it amplifies the fact that the story is short and could’ve had a lot more depth. The plot is extremely simple and the ending does have a surprise, but it was absolutely unimpressive. In fact, this is due to the fact that there was nothing that lead readers to believe in such an angle to the story. It’s also due to very poor character development, especially when it comes to Ava DeSantis. After the tragedy, the character disappears and reappears with an urge to seek out revenge, but her appetite to hunt down the trio was never developed and felt completely out of the blue. The other characters also suffered the same fate. Not a single one of them was interesting and even the main victim of the trio was a flat character. And what’s truly fascinating was how the book strongly relied on dialogue. Description were unquestionably minim and almost absent, except for two or three sequences which needed raw descriptions to instigate disgust; not fear.

This is what really killed this book for me. Reading this novel felt like a movie script, and not really good one to top it off. Every chapter was like a movie scene and everything played out like a low budget big screen movie. It was most-definitely fast pace, but huge plot holes were the consequence. The book could’ve definitely benefited from more content on Ava and her transformation to a bloodthirsty vigilante. What truly ticked me off was in the formula used to structure the novel. All it did was remind me of some of the worst horror movies I’ve seen. Might as well mention the fact that I’m not a big fan of horror movies because of the poor storyline that most of them has. The plot is very linear, it had at most 3 big events and 1 sex scene. Something that you often see from boring horror movies. The Raping of Ava DeSantis was, if anything, a movie turned into a book. It didn’t surprise me when I learned that the author ghostwrote movies before jumping in the literary world with this debut novel. Let’s just say that the novel had nothing to offer and left an ugly aftertaste once completed; or maybe I was just happy that I was done with it.

Wow. Queen of Horror? My Ass. I had my doubts when I saw that many of the "awards" were from shadow sites that all have the same origin. Now that I've read it, I'm certain that the majority of her top reviews are from sock puppet profiles.

It's pretty pitiful that people fall for this. The only people getting raped are the consumers

For being about such an awful subject, the writing is somehow able to be light and even full of humor in parts. I wasn't sure I'd be able to read the part about the actual rape, but when I saw the circumstances surrounding it and knew about the feelings of the characters, I needed to understand exactly what happened. The revenge is thorough and the ending is quite unexpected. As you probably do expect, the book is graphic with plenty of sex and violence. The story behind those aspects and the way it is played out is worth a read. Mylo Carbia may have come out of screenwriting to write a novel, but I still foresee this to end up a gripping Hollywood blockbuster in the style of Body Heat! I went from being unsure I'd be able to read it to being unable to stop. (I received this in a goodreads giveaway.)

I don't even know what to say.

I picked this book up last night at 10:30 and did not put it down until 1:30 or so; when I finished. I can't believe I just read the whole thing.

This is not the best written novel of the 21st century; it won't win the Nobel prize in literature; but it was GOOD.

The Raping of Ava De Santis is all about revenge at its worst. We don't get a lot of background as to Ava's recovery, or her life during the time of her convalescence, healing and her revenge. We get a few bits at the end; but we only have guesses.

There is the end, which was absolutely horrible...for the characters; and I felt was so unnecessary, but I guess if you are physically and psychologically broken; it makes sense. Then there is the real END... wow!

I don't even know if I can recommend this book or not. It is so twisted, and crazy. There are no limits to Ava's hate and revenge on those who perpetrated the hell that became her life. I truly believe she would have stayed in the shadows, if not for certain life changing events.

Read this at your own risk. The raping was a very short part; with snippets. We also get details during her convalescence; from the doctor. It was horrifying. Nothing really horrifies me anymore; but I can see that many will react strongly to this book. Again, read this at your own risk.

Mylo Carbia is one of my favorite horror writers. TRO Ava Desantis is another reason why. Starts off as a typical revenge story, then veers off in ways that no one should spoil. Yes, it's over-the-top, but Carbia writes with such style that you don't care because you're enjoying the ride. If you like your horror gory and with a blood splash of mordant wit. I can't recommend this higher.

I have wanted to read The Raping of Ava DeSantis for a while. I'd read some reviews on it on another site and thought it sounded good, but in honesty the title kind of put me off. Its kind of obviously we are going to have to hear about the raping and that's always hard to read. Still, like I read on another review I will add, don't let the title put you off!

This book is twisted as f*ck. Mylo has such a way of writing that its like she's putting down facts and describing the settings and scenes almost clinically. The raping its self was gruesome, especially when you hear about the injuries after. What really made me admire Mylo's writing style was I actually felt sorry for one of the rapists! How messed up is that? So I really applaude her writing style.

Once we know what's happened and who done it which is told in the past we also have what's going on in the future going on too. Twisted, gripping and at times I had that morbid curiosity wondering what possessed Ava. The ending was so OUT THERE I was left with my mouth open in shock. I actually went back 2 pages and re-read it in case I'd missed something!

I'd like to say there is a happy ever after, but I'm really not sure what to say about the ending. Read it, see for yourself, its apt, out there and well, I'm not sure if I'd say its just? Either way I give this book 4 stars, I've never read anything like it before and don't think I will again. Mylo is definitely someone to watch out for though!

‘The Raping of Ava DeSantis’ is an excellent piece of fem horror. I wasn’t familiar with Mylo Carbia’s work before, but now I know she’s an author to watch.

Carbia does an excellent job of capturing the quiet rage that comes with this kind of mistreatment. As Ava DeSantis decides to seek revenge after years of silence, the anger and sense of vigilante justice is palatable.

Like all great literary horror, Carbia creates vivid images that stick in your mind long after you put the book down. The story is not for the faint of heart — Ava takes no prisoners on her vendetta, and uses the weapons at her disposal (seduction and sex) to capture her prey.

‘The Raping of Ava DeSantis’ is a tale of demented female empowerment, and maybe a bit of a warning to those potential rapists out there — watch who you mess with.

This book is #1 Bestseller on Amazon (it went on sale early!)

I see a lot of people here have put this novel on their bookshelf but don't know it went on sale early on Amazon. When I went to put in my pre-order, I saw it was already #1 Bestseller in Horror, then I was shocked to see both the print and eBook version went on sale one month ahead of its release date. I looked on other sites which still have the October 13 date, so not sure why that is (special program I guess).

Doesn't matter, just buy this book and read it. It's amazing! I can't describe why (spoilers galore) it's just so good, you'll understand all the five star reviews when you read it. A movie must be right around the corner, for sure.

"His pale blue eyes filled with surprise as she hurled a thick, clear plastic bag over his head... twisting and twisting and twisting the bottom of the bag clenched tightly in her grip. Mmmhhuur!!! Only his eyes spoke through the foggy bag... until those pale blue fish eyes filled with the glorious sound of silence."
They don't call Mylo the "Queen of Horror" for nothing. This will make you think twice before anyone oversteps their boundaries ever again.
Received at BEA Chicago 2016. Met the author and signed my book. Please don't ask me why it took so long for me to pick this up. I don't know... Stop hassling me.
This book sucks you in so much that I finished it in one day. I was completely blown away. If you are a fan of I Spit On Your Grave then you are going to eat this up or maybe want to get even with an enemy. Either way, you're going to read this book.
Ava is a lonely, quiet girl going to college in the South. Being from New Jersey, this is a huge change of pace for her. She just wants to go through school, work and not bother with all the little bothersome's known as people.
That is until the most gorgeous guy comes up to her and asks her to tutor him in the one class he can't ace at. She agrees and comes over to a fraternity party that he's throwing.
Wesley, Sebastian, and David talk her into going to their house and continuing the party there. Already feeling buzzed, she goes along with anything. Ava is not the type of girl Wesley would go after, but there is something about Ava that changes his mind. He can see himself growing old with her.
David and Sebastian have other ideas. They drink and do drugs until Wesley passes out. He wakes to find Ava strapped to the bed with her mouth taped closed. He goes in and out of consciousness and tries to help, but only seems to make things worse. Waking up the next day, it dawns on all of them what they actually did to this poor girl. Dropping her off at the hospital to not only save her life but to save themselves from jail. She lives and is offered a settlement to keep her mouth shut and she accepts.
Fifteen years later, they are all grown up and have moved on since that incident.
Sebastian is lured down into a dungeon and is the first to go. These little coincidences keep popping up and this makes Wesley fear not only his life but the life of his wife and unborn child.
Ava slowly sneaks her way into Wesley's life and things grow even weirder from there.
If you read one horror book this year, make it this one. I know that some situations are predictable but I swear you won't be disappointed. The twists at the end are just out of this world and will make your head spin. This left me feeling vulnerable and shocked. Just beware of who you pick on in life, they might actually grow a pair and cut yours off.
Revenge is always sweeter Dear Readers!!

I love getting ARC’s especially high-profile books that people are waiting for. Let me just tell you, this book was fantastic. It was compelling from the very first page. It’s about a college girl in 1991 who gets assaulted by rich kids then spends the next two decades destroying their lives. The scenes are movie-like, like nothing I’ve ever read before. There is a big surprise ending too which I never saw coming and totally works. But what I love most about this book is that it’s not too long (perfect novel length for me) and it spent a lot of time showing how the main character went from being a totally normal, book nerd to a vicious living monster. It shows how events really do change people. Very entertaining. Five stars all the way.

Witty, cleaver, brilliant, original, creative, gruesome, sarcastic, vivid, evil, sadistic, a true masterpiece of horror. As good as Stephen King's "Carrie" some may say even better. Kept me guessing and thinking way after I finished reading it. To say I was impressed to learn this was a debut novel would be an understatement. However, to those that don't like the "F" word, it is used repetitively. Plus the murder scenes are, how do I say this, more than what some imaginations can handle. This did not bother me at all, I just wanted to mention it as a courtesy for those that are concerned about language and are easily offended.

One of the best books I read this year! This book was page after page on the edge of your seat until the end. Writing was so good and story was in such an enjoyable pace it was very easy to zip through this book. The twist at the end, I did not see coming! To me that takes talent as a writer. I definitely am looking forward to the next book by this author.

I do want to point out to those that don't like violent and disturbing situations you may not want to read.

I received a free copy for an honest review.

I had the privilege of reading an Advance Reader Copy of this novel and it's mind blowing. I can't wait to see what everyone else thinks when it's released this October. UPDATE (9/14/15): Read it this weekend for a second time. Holy cow! The clues for the big ending were right there all along. I loved this novel even more the second time around. A must-read for lovers of edgy, mystery revenge books.

An absolutely mindblowing debut book that lets the world know horror writer Mylo Carbia has arrived and is here to stay!
From the back cover-
Set in 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia, "The Raping of Ava DeSantis" tells the story of a working class college student who is brutally raped by three wealthy fraternity brothers, then confronted with the decision of a lifetime: accept money to stay quiet or seek justice with the police. What she does in response is the basis of this captivating woman's revenge horror story that will have readers talking for years to come.

The title gives you the premise of the story and quotes on the page before the prologue might give a slight indication of more awaiting you-
"If an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared."-Niccoló Machiavelli, The Prince, 1532
"No amount of therapy can replace the joy of revenge writing."-Mylo Carbia, All Indie Magazine 2014

Let me tell you, it doesn't even BEGIN to forewarn you for the exquisite, visceral, leave you gasping for breath images that Mylo shoves deep in your brain! She could easily show any author how true horror is done I kept thinking as I was reminded this is her first foray into the literary form.
The book is tightly written in neat, dated chapters that move at breath taking speed. I greatly appreciate this as it adds to the suspense, as well as giving me an exact place to go back to when a WTF just happened scene comes so quickly I wanted to go back to read again! There were quite a few!
Flipping through my already well-worn copy to find a quote or two, it's difficult as I do not want to give the slightest of spoilers.
I will say if you like your suspense and horror so vivid you feel like it is happening right next to you, this book is a grandslam! Obviously the title warns of the subject material as well, but definitely not for the squeamish!
I will absolutely read any and everything that Mylo Carbia writes, I'm eagerly awaiting her next book coming soon, "Violets Are Red"!

Many thanks to Rockefeller Publishing Group Inc & The Goodreads First Reads for awarding me a copy of this book. This, however, in no way has any bearing on my review & opinions.

SO i finally feel like writing a review.....
This was my first time reading a horror novel with a rape theme. I picked it up merely because I wanted to know what the buzz was all about. I expected a book version of I Spit On Your Grave.
But what I got was a helluva rollercoaster ride. I experienced a whirl of emotions : Horror and pity when I realized the extent of Ava's damages I genuinely felt bad thinking about the impact of rape on someone's life. A simple girl's transformation to a wild girl filled with vengeance . It makes me shiver. Sometimes I get a mixed feeling I know I shouldn't get , like the brutal way she killed David but honestly I get her and I feel like it was justified. The only complaint I had with the story was Weasley. Ms. Carbia presented this side of him which shows that I didn't want to feel bad for a rapist. I felt loads of pity for Michelle. She didn't deserve what happened to her. Probably what happened with Ava made her a little insensitive but I really don't want to empathize with her. Being a woman ,it scares the shit out of me .
The ending woah!!! I didn't see that coming. This book was written so differently as in like a movie script but I guess it totally worked for me.
Looking forward to read more of Ms Carbia.
I heard this book is being adapted into a movie. I feel like this book was written to be made into a movie. Can't wait .

After reading about all the great reviews online, this book piqued my interest. When I saw the blurb mention “Gone Girl” and “Girl on the Train”, I was sold (those are my two favorite books).

The Raping of Ava DeSantis is a chilling horror/thriller about vigilante justice. As soon as I read the first chapter, I was immediately hooked by Mylo Carbia’s fluid and engaging writing style. This book is chilling and at times gruesome- my favorite kind of book. This book will make you wince and groan and keep you up late into the night. It’s an absolutely engrossing page-turner. I’m a huge fan of dark female protagonists and Ava is a badass anti-hero who goes around seeking justice for her rape in college. She is a complex character and deeply troubled. This is a book that’ll definitely rattle you and its something I’d recommend to my friends. This novel is horrifying and twisted and it’ll leave you speechless for a long time to come. I can easily see this becoming a film and I’d recommend anyone to read this around Halloween. I give this book 5 spooky stars!

This book follows a young woman who after getting hurt the worst way imaginable, years later seeks revenge for her attackers. This revenge is brought in many horrible ways.

This book was not an "Easy" read, but it was a good one all the same. It was action packed and full of suspense and horror. It was written very well and had me enthralled from page one. It was definitely a book that was hard to put down. As a matter of fact I read it in one sitting.

I have to say I felt pained for Ava for going through what she did, but I felt that the men deserved what was coming for them. This story brought a good picture to the horrible consequences that can come from drugs, money, and alcohol. While just a story there is so much truth embedded in the details and storyline.

This book did not end at all how I imagined it. It was a crazy wild ride from page one. Great read!!!...Stormi

This well-crafted debut novel of Mylo Carbia is a definite must-read! Just a few pages in and I can’t put it down. The story shows the thin line between justice and revenge, and Carbia did it in one sweep.

The plot is very impressive, Ava wanted revenge, but you’ll never know when she’ll strike and how she’ll do it. I can’t help but cringed and be amazed at the same time, on how descriptive and accurate the scenes – as if I’m watching a movie in my head.

I’m looking forward to reading more of Carbia’s writing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a thrilling novel packed with unpredictable scenes and plot twists that will keep you on edge.

Perfect October horror read. This book was dark but fun. It was a book that I actually thought about between reading sessions and enjoyed making predictions about what would happen. The biggest strength this author brings is the ability to show and not just tell--which I imagine has a lot to do with her background in writing screenplay. I did win this book in a goodreads giveaway, but I will be looking forward to this author's work again in the future.

* I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway*

I read this book in one sitting. All 390 pages of it. I don't want to say much because I don't want to spoil the ending, but it was a pretty good read. Hard to imagine someone planning their whole life around revenge..but this chick gets hers.

WOW! I read it straight through last night. Hooked from the beginning and could not close the book. You have the tragedy of horror, followed sometime later by the revenge (OMG), and then the twisted ending. Terrific in every way.

It is so good I want to read it all over again. A wonderful horror of creepy suspense.

I received a copy of this book for a honest review. I finished this book in one day!! I was at the edge of my seat trying to figure out what would happen next. The story was very well written and if you have the stomach for a little revenge I would recommend it. I was surprised with the ending and I hope there is a second book planned because I have alot of unanswered questions about Wesley.

More of a thriller than a horror story but it has a very good plot. It was definitely a page turner. I particularly liked how the rape was not graphically described. Many of the significant plot points are innovative. I don't want to say more because the story is better the less you know about the plot in advance.

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway but that has not impacted my review.

I don't know how I came across this book but wow!
What a bunch of twist and turns.
Very well written.
It reminded me alot of I spit on your grave movie. The revenge that follows rape.
It was a quick read and very well written.

Revenage.

If your looking for glory details of the rape you won’t get this from this book. Lots reviews say the author skipped that bit. Which is incredibly wrong, she did start from creating a scene of how Ava DeSantis met Wesley, Sebastian and David then said boom she was raped. She did go through it and never skipped through that part. What these reviews should of made it bluntly clear. Was that they were expecting the glory details. We did get that. But you know how you read books and feel like your the heroine facing this rather than the reader. That’s was what there’s reviewers wanted because it’s a horror.

Which I disagree with although I know it’s a horror. Do all readers want to experience the gang rape and Ava did? My answer no. It would be too morbid since the story that follows is full of vengeance. So obviously he aftermath needs to have horror, morbid scenes. Making the reader’s experience the rape would have stopped some readers from continuing reading the book.

To me this book was beautiful done. I felt pain, sorrow, anger, resilience for Ava. Because I cared for her . I wanted to kill them myself. This is a story that will stay with you. The story does give me don’t spit on my grave vibes. As how strong Ava is but you won’t be experiencing the rape with her.
