This can’t be happening. Not to me.

It was supposed to be fun. A spring break trip to Tijuana with my friends. A margarita in each hand while we danced the night away.

Then I saw him in the club. He was too perfect to be true—an impeccably tailored suit, a sculpted body. Ice-blue eyes that seared with desire. I thought everything about him was right. But I was dead wrong.

A gun to my head.

A collar around my neck.

A whisper in my ear telling me to follow orders… OR ELSE.

And the strange look in his eyes that tells me there’s a secret he’s still hiding…

TITLE: Yours
SERIES: (A Dark Bad Boy Romance Novel #1)
AUTHOR: Aubrey Dark
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: July 31st 2015

MY RATING: 5 + STARS

That old clique ( I could not put this down ) insert rolling of the eyes * HERE * in this case that saying rang true..I basically went in blind with this, didn't look at the reviews or read anything by this author previously..But I kid you not I FREAKING loved this!! It's gritty, it's dark, it had my heart missing a few beats, and I fell in love with everything the author threw at me..So easy to get into, so hard to put down, the intensity I felt racing through the pages was real..This wasn't just a promise of DARK it delivered it!! Definitely will be reading more by this author..Thank god for the recommendation to read this..Thank you Lina's Reviews..

This was recommended to me from a friend on here so today I took the plunge and one clicked it..*WHISPERS* If it sucks I'll hunt her down!! (Joking)..
She rated this 5 stars so I know by that I'm in for a really good read..

I've not encountered or read anything by this author before so I'm not sure what to expect..Love the cover and that blurb definitely matches up..Ticks all my boxes..Add the dark gritty kidnapping element to this and I am in my happy place..(Lover of Dark Reads)..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Loving this authors writing style it's such an easy book to get into from the very first page your drawn into the story..

First off we're introduced to Vale who is what I'd term a hitman, who by all accounts is not afraid to get his hands bloody and loves the kill, his next assassination assignment is to bring down a known sex trafficker..

El Alfa wasn’t just dealing drugs. He was dealing in something much more dangerous… sex slavery

Alfonze Ensueto, thirty-eight years old. El Alfa, is what he calls himself.

"They say he’s invincible. That no one can kill him.”
“Yeah? So what are you sending me in for?”
“To kill him.”

I felt like I was getting sucked into something more dangerous than I’d ever faced before.

To Jessica who has been blindsided by her room mates on her way to Mexico during spring break and not the library as she initially thought..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Over here, I wasn’t plain old Jessica anymore. I could be anything I wanted to be. I could act however I wanted to act.

I wasn’t about to lose my virginity to some random guy in Mexico.

I like how with the main character Vance, he's this kick ass killer but under those layers he has this softer apologetic side to him..Which first showed itself in the nightclub..

Lover of semi dark gritty reads take the plunge and one click this you will seriously not regret it!! I am soooo glad I got recommended this because otherwise I would've missed this completely!!

How far will one man go to complete his mission?

She trusted me, but only because she had to. Only because there was no other option.

2.5 stars...

This was just an ok read for me. The beginning went a little slow, and then when the story picked up, it was with a "bang!!!" The thing was though, when I pick up a dark read; I am expecting a major anti hero that is quite bad on the outside; but has this tiny light that only brightens around the heroine..In "Yours" I felt that the hero wasn't a "Bad guy" at all, he was just a guy that had to act a certain way out of circumstance. Because of that I was somewhat let down. Another issue that came up for me was there was a lot of repetition in certain statements that were being made. I can't give an example for fear of revealing parts of the story, but as I was reading I was annoyed with hearing the same kind of thoughts over and over again by the character.

This book was on the shorter side, and because of that I was able to keep reading and enjoying some scenes. It honestly isn't a book I will probably remember in a few months though. I was somewhat disappointed as I really loved Aubrey Dark's book: "His." I was so hoping that this would be just as good, if not better; but it did fall short for me.
That is all I am going to say about that, and I'm crossing my fingers that my next read from this author will be much better. I loved her voice in "His" and I have faith that she will deliver another winner of a story like that in the future!

When I first read about this book I knew that it sounded very promising. When I finally got it in my hands I realized that I wasn't going to be disappointed. I loved this story so much! I finished it in one sitting.
It certainly has dark elements but the story is mesmerizing.
Vale is a dark, elusive man who takes on dangerous missions and executes them with no hesitation. He is good at his job and he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty to get the job done. When he is assigned to infiltrate a sex trafficking cartel, he gets more than he bargained for.
When young, beautiful and innocent Jessica is thrown in his path he knows that he has to save her while at the same time he has to break her in order to prove himself.
We are thrown into a whirlwind of lust, passion, drama, torture and ultimately love. Vale's passion for Jessica is enthralling to watch and Jessica's will to survive will force her to trust herself into the hands of the one man she has sworn to hate. But is Vale the monster Jessica thinks him to be?
Secrets will be unveiled and trust will be tested in this tangled web of danger and darkness.
I loved the way the author handled the storyline. It was refreshing and that has to do with her unique writing style. I adored the characters and her villains were extremely daunting. I loved how she managed to make the story sweet while at the same time keeping the dark elements alive and prominent. Simply fantastic.

5 Stars from me! Great summer read. Don't miss it.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review. Thank you, Aubrey Dark.

First off I must compliment Aubrey Dark. Her writing is impeccable, the storyline of Yours is solid and flows smoothly. The reason for two stars is based on personal preferences and taste, not because of anything the author did or didn't do. So I highly encourage other readers to give Yours a try.

The reason why I didn't like it is simple, I'm not into fast paced insta-attraction slash love when there's a kidnapping and murder. I love dark reads, and all to often the victims willingly submits to her captors, if anything its offensive. I strongly believe women would fight tooth and nail before submitting, if they did it was forced. Sure this is fantasy, romance yada yada, but I like element of realism, not spontaneous soul mate crap.

***A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review****

This was a fantastic dark romance story. The prologue gets your attention and the story doesn’t let up from there until the very last work. Jessica, the heroine is practically kidnapped by well-meaning friends and taken to Mexico for spring break. But this isn’t the spring break of dreams, it turns out to be one of nightmares. She has to learn to survive her nightmare. She and her friend, April are kidnapped and her friend’s boyfriend is killed. But what makes it even worse is the man she was just dancing with moments ago, Vale, is the man doing all these horrible things to her and her friends.
Vale is really a hero. He was sent by the government to take out this Mexican drug lord who is doing so really bad things so it’s a secret mission to get the bad guy BUT, in order to take him out, he has to do some bad things himself. And guess what the bad thing that is…Vale really isn’t the bad guy in this story but he has to do bad things to keep him and Jessica alive but Jessica doesn’t know this. Vale is falling for Jessica and he does some smoking hot things to Jessica and she loves what he does but she doesn’t know why she loves it yet hates how her body responds. There are some definite questionable scenes in the book but that is what makes this a dark romance. Definitely darker than His and Mine. At least this Hero is a good guy compared to the MC heroes in His and Mine. Jessica is a spunky, feisty woman who was in a situation out of her control but wow she rose to the challenge. Vale was a great guy and he did what he had to do in a bad situation. The only lingering question I have is, Jessica had something happen to her a long time ago which was mentioned but never fully answered. I would have liked to known what the answer to that was. That , to me, was kind of never resolved. Otherwise, fantastic story and cannot wait for another dark romance because these are totally addictive like dark chocolate. You just cannot get enough 

My rating: 4.5 Stars ****

I don't really know what to say here...

I didn't have any expectations, whatsoever, and I went in blind, so to speak...

I love dark reads, but this was a bit INSTA for me, I didn't feel the "connection" between the characters, nor for each character alone and that was a huge miss for me...unfortunately.

It had all the elements of being a good book, similarity to Pepper Winter's work (Tears of Tess) but not as profound.

Vale's story and even if I really loved the first few pages, I didn't enjoy the next chapters that much. It was a fast-passed and kinda insta-love story. Some of the events that took place I would have preferred if I they didn't happen at all, but tough luck...

As I started this book, I had one of those aha! remembering Vale was featured in Rien's book (Mine). It's been several books ago when I read Mine, but I remember not being quite sure about Vale. Gavriel is still my favorite as that was the first book I read by Aubrey Dark and it was so original and complex. Vale's story is a very close 2nd. You can't say Gav, Rien or Vale are good or bad guys as there is something dark inside them to do what they do. It's all grounded with the basis they're doing what is best even though it's usually dark and twisted. Vale's situation was a little more straightforward as we immediately knew he's working for the government and is under assignment. Gav and Rien had much more sinister and diabolical methods they used to get their results. What I did find interesting is all three are so committed and curious? or thoughtful? about this "career" path. It's not a 9-5 job for them, it's their life's work.

Since the first book (His - Gavriel), I've been intrigued by this world the author has created. It's original and complex. The character's actions and motivations are not black and white. The heroines are usually very normal and almost upbeat/perky young women which create such a contrast to their troubled heroes. In this book, Jessica is very likable and your everyday girl. I felt like Vale was different from Gav and Rien - he wasn't 110% confident or cocky. He was self-aware and had a serious conscience where he felt conflicted, remorseful while questing his morality and ethics. He's gentler and could be the guy next door.

There are some seriously dark moments where my heart equally hurt for Vale and Jessica (50% mark). They both had such a lack of control over their situation. Her fear and suffering was palpable as much as his regret and pain as he struggled to do the right thing but also keep the bigger picture in mind.

My only question... what happened to Mia (insignificant, but I kept thinking about her)?? Also, I want to know a little more of where Vale and Jessica go after the last page. I'm hoping we see more of this world and we'll learn more about their lives in a future story.

I received a copy of this story from the author for an honest review (thank you!).

Over here, I wasn’t plain old Jessica anymore. I could be anything I wanted to be. I could act however I wanted to act.

She trusted me, but only because she had to. Only because there was no other option.

Dark I can handle it it's done right. Stupid/nonsensical makes me crazy. Is it too much to ask for a SHRED of believability?

Jessica has the WORST friends. Not only do they take her to Tijuana without telling her, they don't even have enough common sense to stay together. You know, so they don't get drugged, or raped, or kidnapped. Way to make young women look stupid.

So Vale was supposed to be some kind of super secret agent? A cold blooded killer with nerves of steel? His gaping at seeing the scantily dressed women and going slack-jawed over a mansion was quite unimpressive. His "boss" is willing to give him $500,000 to kill this guy, but gives him no schematics on the compound and very little information about how things are run or what illegal stuff the guy is into. Sure, that's believable.

You want me to believe that Jessica has "dark" desires? Fine. But don't make her a fucking naive bookworm virgin! And don't make her attracted to the guy who just shot her BFF's boyfriend in the head! That is something that cannot be overlooked. Ever.

Jessica has been kidnapped, sexually assaulted, starved, and all she can think about is getting her orgasm? Really? This disgusting pig just forces her to perform oral sex on him and five minutes later she's doing the same thing to Vale and totally enjoying it? WTF? And of course Vale is all fine with it while he's getting his, but once he's done he's all, "this was wrong". You think? On top of that he keeps calling her darling. That's so creepy.

Jessica is "sad" that April doesn't want anything to do with her after everything is all over (and BTW, what happened to the other friend?). Gee, maybe because the guy you're mooning over KILLED HER BOYFRIEND.

And then a month after her ordeal ends, Jessica is ready to fly to Central America, by herself (!!!!), to meet Vale. And then they go sailing and joke around about how he kidnapped her. Oh, and she gives up her virginity to him. And asks him to TIE HER UP. That seems like sound decision making. Sure, he's a killer, but he's hot and got great hands.

This book was great, I have not read much of her books but I liked this one. It was dark and yet sweet in other aspects of it. I did not want the darkness to end. It was a great book with a great story line, plus the sex it was good to. It is a type of forced to love type books but still it was a good read and I was not disappointed with it. If you do not like dark reads then please do not read this book you will not like it. It will not be your cup of tea. If you are into the darkness then by all means please enjoy, like I did.

Jessica was a college girl that did nothing bad, she was to good for bad things. Until her friends get her to go on trip with them to Mexico to go to the hottest night club there. Things were great at first, she was having fun even though sh went behind her moms back to do it. Then she sees a man that is so handsome and she wants nothing more than to kiss him. She didn’t think he was going to turn into a bad guy. He takes her and does things to her that she shouldn't like, but her body loves.

Vale is on a mission to take down a very bad man, dealing in kidnapping girls and training them to be slaves then selling them. Vale will go in and do what has to be done to get the mission over with he was not expecting to kidnap a girl and kill her friend. He was not supposed to care about anything beside the job he was sent to do. Jessica got under his skin and he wants nothing more than to keep her for himself. Things fall apart and he will try everything in his power to make her his.

Jessica is a college student a bit of a nerd. It's spring break and her friends hijack her and set off to Mexico. Meanwhile Vale who works for the FBI is sent on a mission to Mexico by his boss to bring down and kill El Alfa a notorious crime boss. Vale is instructed to pretend to want to work with El Alfa, whatever that may entail. What it entails is Jessica getting kidnapped to be trained as a sex slave along with her best friend April.

This was an okay read but it was a bit lite on details. I found it hard to believe that Vale's boss at the FBI didn't give him any info as to what he could expect, nor was he given the layout of El Alfa's compound. He was just told to jump on a plane and kill Al Alfa. Vale was meant to be a die hard bad boy, but his conscience plagued him too much his guilt at what he had to do almost overwhelmed him. But most of all it was Jessica's character that just didn't seem realistic. She's a virgin chained up in a cell she's terrified, she's been kidnapped and yet she's sexually aroused every time Vale gets near her, that just seemed too ridiculous, there was lots of instances with her that had me thinking there's no way anyone would respond like that. For example when they're first kidnapped Vale has to shoot dead Jessica's friend April's boyfriend who was with them. But Jessica just seemed okay with it, surely that would have been an insurmountable obstacle but no she's fine with it.

I like a dark romance but my response while reading this was really!

OMG I absolutely loved this one! In fact, I devoured it in one sitting this morning. I had enjoyed His and Mine and this one does not disappoint. In fact, I felt a little better about myself for liking the H (Vale) in this one as opposed to the two earlier books; likely because he isn't a serial killer. Okay, he kills people but he does it for the government and I guess that rationalization makes me more comfortable with enjoying the romance here.

If you like things a little on the dark since (read, not entirely willing with action and romance, you will enjoy this book. If you are a fan of Aubrey Dark (as I am), then this is a no brainer to add to your TBR pile.

I received an ARC from the author for my honest review of this book and any thoughts / words contained here are entirely my own.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

When Jessica's friends decide to take her to Mexico for the weekend, none of them could imagine how terribly twisted the weekend would become. Jessica and one of her friends is kidnapped by a sex slave trafficing ring. One of the kidnappers isn't what he seems to be, Vale has a job to do and is determined to put an end to the kidnappings. Wow, this is a dark subject, and there is a lot of violence, but this is a fantastic book with an ending that may surprise the reader. I loved this book and couldn't put it down!

In a nutshell... WOW! Just WOW! Seriously, WOW!!! Grabbing you in the prologue and not letting you go until you've read the final page, you get sucked into the story. Aubrey Dark has a way with words. She writes stories that are pain and pleasure, lust and passion... stories that will stay with you long after you've finished reading them. Yours was gritty, dark, intense, shocking, twisted, addictive, raw, emotional, captivating... it was everything!

This was a great dark read. The good guy isn't all that good, and the heroine really does suffer. I read this pretty quickly, in two sittings, but if I had time, I probably would've finished it in one. Fast paced and no extras, it delivers on its' blurb

ARC Provided for an honest review

Honest is what is expected during these review thingy's. And honest is what I'll give. I. Loved. This. Book. So. Hard. There wasn't a thing I disliked about this book. Taking everything I've read prior to this one, I had an assumption that I quickly learned that I shouldn't. I know, don't yell at me. They say every book is different and with every dark romance, it's different. But anyways, I'm rambling. This book knocked my socks off and I didn't expect anything that I read. Being a huge fan of dark romance, I couldn't wait to go into this. I went in totally expecting to be a lot of angst, and drama and boy did I get that.

First let's start off with Jessica (Love the name from the start. Lol) who gets swept away by Vale (sexy as hell name) and she thinks she found prince charming. Wrong. So very wrong. Nothing prepared her for the whirlwind of emotions that would ensue her next adventure and I mean adventure in the worst hell she could possibly imagine. Vale takes advantage of her but he claims it's all for a good reason. I hated him in the beginning but quickly fell in love with him as soon as he kissed her. And I swooned. A LOT!

Jessica (Again, love that name. Lol) made me love the female lead again. I had my doubts about loving the female lead because in most books with this theme, the female is rather boring and frail. Not in this one. I loved her because she took charge and didn't get pushed around. She was strong, confident, and knew what she wanted, despite the purity still lingering around her.

All in all, the writing was beautiful. I felt every emotion of that book from page 1 to page...whenever the last page was. Hahaha. It was raw, gritty and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a dark erotic romance. Take it from somebody who writes it. *Wink Wink* *Hint Hint*

Firstly let me start by saying you don't need to have read the other Dark Romance books by Aubrey to appreciate this. I read book 1, but somehow missed book 2 (It happens) and went on straight to number 3, Yours.

The opening of this book has a great set up to it. I liked how we were introduced to Jessica and Vance. There was some minimal back ground stuff to wet your appetites and that's all you needed. I think this is the first dark book I've read when I didn't love the male lead. Vance was just... Well he fell a bit flat for me. I don't want to give spoilers but after the initial meeting of Vance when he's in the restaurant with work colleagues talking you get an 'opinion' of him. This is then turned on its arse and shaken a bit and he becomes something entirely different. I'm not a lover of alpha males although I read about them all the time but Vance, as kick ass as he was... He fell flat for me. Where as Jessica, she just grew and carried the book. I loved her strength and she made this book more bearable.

Not that I hated it, I want to make that clear. I enjoyed Yours immensely. I just didn't love it and Vance was the reason behind that. However, I did like how the book climaxed (Get your mind out of the gutter), but then felt the 'boat' scene at the end was a bit... well too clean, too neat. I love gritty and not perfect, what can I say.

I still this Aubrey has an amazing talent and will continue to read her books (And not just because I love her name). 3.5 stars, some situations may be triggers, this book is dark - you have been warned.

I picked up this book not knowing it was book 3 of a series. But I didn't really have to read the entire series to actually get the story.

This book is dark but the Hero is not exactly the 'bad guy'. He's simply stuck with bad people while our heroine is walking into them at the wrong time. I was expecting something full of drama but overall this book is okay to me, not exactly my favorite. But I look forward to read more from this author!

I loved this book!! Such a fast read, and intense story of lust, longing, survival!!
Starts off as a trip to Mexico for one girl, and turns into everyone's worst nightmare. He didn't mean to choose her, but by setting his sights on Jessica, he has doomed her to something he wouldn't wish on anyone. But what happens after is something was something neither expected. Can they survive Mexico? Can they move past their ordeal? Must read to find out!!

I received this for my honest review, WOW from the start I loved it, this is the first I have read from Aubrey Dark and definitely not the last. This story has your heart racing for the danger, the scenes, the characters, the whole package is brilliant. It starts as four friends escaping their usual studies for a bit of fun but soon turns into a nightmare, then amongst it all the strength to survive and a love that is not meant to happen...... no spoilers but a must read.

YOUR fun spring break trip turns out to be an utter nightmare.
She's kidnapped.
YOUR assignment turns out to be the darkest most difficult assignment ever.
He has to kidnap her.
What they didn't realize that through the darkness they would find each other.
Aubrey Dark writes wonderful dark erotic romance that pulls you in and your rooting for the bad guy. but in this case he's not really the bad guy, just the guy who was assigned to be hers.

I think it's because I've read soo many dark books that this one just fell flat for me.

There's too many books out there already with the same storyline that I felt like I'd already read this book previously.

Won't be rating this one.
