Missy has been working almost non-stop on her baking and feels the need to take a break. In an effort to relax, she joins the Tuesday meeting of the Burgundies and Books book club that meets at Missy's cupcake shop. Sally Higgins, the group's leader, and Marsha Mueller, another long-time member, have a slightly heated discussion regarding one of the characters in the latest book. Missy feels uncomfortable with the tension, but being new, keeps her thoughts to herself.
After the meeting, Samantha Lemmon, a newer member of the group, asks Sally about the "tense" exchange with Marsha. Sally insists that Marsha enjoys being the center of attention and stirring up emotions. Samantha is concerned by Sally's response; feeling uncertain about the dynamics she experienced during and after the night's meeting.
When Sally is found dead, Missy knows she has to tell her boyfriend, Detective Chas Beckett, about the confrontation she witnessed between Sally and Samantha. Later, Chas is wounded while investigating another matter and Missy takes him home from the hospital. Returning to her own home, she finds her house has been vandalized.
Who killed Sally? Why was she killed? Is there a connection between Sally's death and Chas getting shot? Can Missy and Chas figure out what is going on before more people are hurt?
This story is fast-paced with plenty of suspicious activity to go around. Summer Prescott does a great job of creating memorable characters and situations.
Things are going so well that Missy decides to cut back on her hours and enjoy her life, she loved having more time with Chas, being able to just relax with her dogs or enjoy a good book and she even joined a book club, what could possibly go wrong you ask? Well, a member of the book club is murdered and one of the newer members is a major suspect, meanwhile Chas gets shot while on a stakeout and suddenly enjoying her life got much more complicated. Her house is ransacked and vandalized so many things are happening it's hard to know who to suspect and who to trust. Lots of suspicion, twists and a couple of nasty turns but in the end the murderer is caught. Everyone is acting strangely though and Missy's not sure what to think leading up to another shocker but a very pleasant one. Great read.
Missy has been working around the clock and has decided to step back. She had decided to join the book club that meets in her Dellville shop. It's founding member has been killed. Was it the new member or someone lon time? Missy intends to find out.
Missy has another murderer in her mist. Love she keeps calling her small town safe when literally everyone is being murdered. Finally moving forward with Chas.
I really want to talk about the end of the book but I don't want to ruin it. I will say that Chas was really cute. It was the perfect ending for the book.
Missy was more active in the investigation this time around. We got to meet the book club members and learn a lot about them in this book. I enjoyed their character development throughout the book. Their background gets incorporated so well into the mystery that it was out of place.
This was a fun book and it was a good add-on to the series.
I enjoyed reading this 14th Book in the Frosted Love mysteries. I found it to be a quick read that kept my attention. Perfect for a summer afternoon! Once again Missy Gladstone who owns some very successful cupcake shops and her handsome detective boyfriend Chas Beckett are out to solve a murder mystery. The write style and the characters are really evolving and maturing in the series, not disappointed!
This culinary cozy mystery is a delightful read with captivating characters and a plot that includes some interesting twists and turns. I love Melissa Gladstone's interactions with the other characters, especially tall-dark-and-handsome Detective Chas Beckett. This is a perfect quick beach read. I look forward to book 15 in this series. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I LOVED this book! Another great little mystery from Ms Durand. Missy and crew work to solve the murder of one of the book club members who meet every Tuesday at one of the shops for cupcakes and conversation. This one rates high as a cozy romance as well, but you need to read it to find out why...
Another great read from author Carol Durand. This is book 14 th in the series. With her wonderful cupcakes, the murders to solve and a wonderful boy friend. What more could ask for. This is a great series to read. You won't be up all night trying to get to the end. Nice short story that leave you smiling.
The mystery was enjoyable. Definitely some tension with vandalism, injuries, and not knowing who to trust. The ending was superb. I loved it so much. This is hands down my favorite cozy mystery series. It has the perfect balance of mystery, lovable and relatable characters, and romance.
Another adventure for missy and chas a member of her book club dies and the fingers all point to the new person! Chad and missy investigate to find the real killer but while on a standout Chas is injured and has to be hospital! In the end an awesome surprise occur s ! I love this series an dc these characters!!!
I hope the author changes her mind and decides to write more of these little gems. I've become quite attached to the characters and at the same witness the author's writing, plot lines, and character development improve. How about a new series? I'm hooked!
I seriously love these books and they keep getting better and better. I would advise readers to start at book 1, then continue, although the author does give a little history, you will appreciate and grow to love the characters if you read them in order.
I love taking a walk in the past with Missy and Chas. The mystery is totally enjoyable and you can't beat the setting and the characters. This is one of my favorite books in this series.
This is a terrific revision of a previous book. A previous book that somehow I missed reading. I am still up on cloud nine over the ending! The murder mystery was fabulous, too. I can’t think of a thing I DIDN’T like about the story. Kudos to Summer Prescott!
Friendships are hard enough without underlining reasons. Jealousy is for toddlers who need to be taught not to. Missy is so busy she is not seeing all the things happening around her.
This book has it all.....love, murder, mystery, and tears. The story just gets sweeter between Chas and Melissa. I can't wait to see what will happen next.
Finally, been waiting for this one! Yay! Missy and Chas seem like old friends now. Book 14 is also one of my faves too. Thank you for writing this series!
