Aidan

Surf.

Fuck.

Get high.

Sounds like the perfect day to Aidan Callahan. As second-born son to Chicago’s most influential business owner, Aidan’s life has always been about responsibility. Tradition. Toeing the goddamn line. Just do as you’re told, Aidan. Don’t make waves.

Well, screw that. Riding waves is way more fun than making them.

Hawaii is paradise on earth. Smoking hot women. Tiny bikinis. As far as Aidan’s concerned, wild horses couldn’t drag him kicking and screaming back to the windy city. Or at least that’s what he thought.

When his brother crashes his Mercedes, killing himself on impact, Aidan finds himself next in line to the Callahan fortune and all the ties that come with it.

And this time there’s no getting out of it.

Essie

A warm bed.

A steady job.

A brother who loves her.

For Essie Gray, life’s been one hard kick in the teeth after another. With her parents both dead, her brother is her only living relative. That is until Vaughn’s truck is written off, his life snatched away by the careless actions of a rich playboy in a flashy sports car.

Now, the only thing that will bring Essie peace is revenge. She must take what was taken from her. Only when the name Callahan has been wiped from the face of the earth forever will she be able to start living again.

Of course, the new head of the Callahan Corporation isn’t what she expected. Aidan’s sexy and sad, and just as damaged as she is. Will she be able to distance herself enough to accomplish her goal?

After all, ruining a man’s really hard when you find yourself falling for him…

"Ms. Floyd, you'll find I generally like most things in life to be a little dirty."

I generally ignore friend requests on my personal Facebook if it's from people I don't know, or talk to on a regular basis, so when Cole Saint Jaimes popped up in my notifications and I had a sneaky peek at his profile, there was no doubt I was going to give this book a go because the super hot teasers and book blurb were definitely enough to reel me in, I was sold! I love finding new authors so I am happy that this book was a page turner and left me wanting more.

Essie Gray lives with her brother Vaughn, it's only ever been the both of them for most of their lives, they are the only family they have, so when a tragic accident rips them apart, revenge is the only thing on Essie's mind. She want's the family of the person who ran into Vaughn's truck to pay, and that just so happens to be Aidan Callahan.

Aidan never wanted to be a part of the Callahan Corporation, he was quite happy surfing and living a simple life in Hawaii, but had to give it all up to become the head of his family legacy when his parents and brother are killed in a road accident.
_ _ _ _

This was a short book, and part one of two, so this really focused on the lead up to Essie and Aiden finally meeting after five years of a whole glut of emotions. Essie, once a happy and positive woman, is now bitter and seeking vengeance from a man who has nothing to do with the death of her beloved brother.

Little does Essie know, but Aiden has also been keeping an eye on her, and he sees her pain and wants her like he's never wanted any woman before. When Essie requests a meeting, he is ready for her.

"She's beautiful.
She's messed up.
She's broken, and the sad, shitty thing is that I'm not whole enough to fix her."

I really liked Aiden, he was a good hearted man who turned his life around after a painful time, and he had a delicious dirty mouth, so what's not to love about that.

"I want to kiss her so fucking badly.
I want to bury my hands in her hair as she takes my dick into that perfect mouth of hers.
I want to cup her breasts, pinch her nipples, make her scream."

Essie, not so much. She was a bitch. She couldn't let the past go and she was extremely blinkered in her revenge and for no good reason really, so I am really hoping that Aidan can bring her back to her true self.

So, this book is really about getting to know the characters and setting the scene for the story, I really can't wait to see how emotionally connected these two are going to get and how difficulty that will be considering Essie's plan to bring the Callahan Corporation down and break Aidan's heart in the process.

My only real compliant was that it took ages for them to actually meet, I wish it would have happened sooner.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and urge people to check out this fab new author.

This is part one of a duet, told in dual POV.

MY RATING: 5 STARS!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Definitely digging the cover (hello I am Kat Fenton and I am a cover hoe) add the synopsis to the mix and two boxes of mine are ticked before I even get started..

OMG do not go on a witch hunt but I haven't read alot of books by male authors!! Ekkkkk my bad!! Shoot me!! lol

I'm slapping 5 stars on this because I loved this authors writing style, the unique refreshing story line, the fact that once I started this I couldn't put it down, a book definitely worth one clicking once it's released..

These two are like chalk and cheese when it comes to their sibling love, Aidan literally can't stand his brother whereas Essie loves her brother unconditionally..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Just when life was looking up for Essie and her brother the unthinkable happens, the one dreaded phone call we never want to receive announcing that a loved one has died at the wheel of a fatal car accident, not just one life but 4 gone in the blink of an eye..

One phone call made to Essie: He was in an accident Essie, his truck was totalled, he suffered major internal injuries, He died on the scene.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The hole of depression I fell into was endless

Shit always went wrong for us the very second it looked like things were improving.

Play boy Aiden gets the one call he never expected to get: Your brother and your parents, all three of them are dead, the police think Alex fell asleep at the wheel.

I fucking hate my brother, this is a statement of fact.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

She's beautiful. She's messed up. She's broken, and the sad thing is that I'm not whole enough to fix her.

Because I loved this as much as I did I really can not wait for the next instalment of this..Two broken people trying to fit in a world they don't belong in..One in corporate the other in a world of hate..Definitely an author to keep an eye on in the future..

“When we fuck, it’s like the entire world’s on fire, and we’re just letting it burn, oblivious of the fact that the fire’s consuming us, turning us to ash.”

So, I don’t really know how to review this. My mind has a jumble of words of everything I wanted to say and quite frankly, it’s giving me a headache. Enough of my ramblings. Let me tell you my journey while reading this book.

I have started this awhile while back. Like super so long ago because I know this is truly one hot read. I feel it in my gut. I don’t have to set expectations because I just know. But I wasn’t feeling it at that time and I don’t want to push it. I wanted to enjoy this and enjoy was what I did.

I’ve already said hot, right? The story was a slow build up, getting to know the characters one on one. Getting intimate. Like they’ve become my childhood friends and every thought and actions of them I know what that means. How their mind works. The character development and growth. Something I’m very particular with in the characters of the book I’m reading. And of course, the anticipation.

“The female form is perfect in all its various shapes and sizes. It’s a work of art. A miracle, meant to be worshipped.”

Essie. I actually like her. She’s a responsible adult who knows responsibility and sacrifices well. Assertive. Confident. But there’s hatred and grief in her heart that clouds her judgment and she have a hard time to let go with.
“I know what I want and I go after it when I’m with a guy.”

“Sometimes a man will look at you a certain way and you just know he wants to fuck you.”

Aidan. He’s the hot surfer dude turned businessman. Totally hot. Fucking hot. But he’s angsty and kind of a happy-go-lucky. Despite that though, his trait that I like most is his perception in life. To be just contented and do something that he enjoys and not because it is what society dictates. And of course, he’s such a dirty talker. Hot damn!
“I’ve always been sexually charged, Ess. I like to fuck. I’d go so far as to say it’s my favorite pastime.”

I didn’t mind the dual POV. It was just perfect because as I get to know them, I’m able to follow their line of thinking and thoughts. I was sucked and along with it are my emotions. The grief and pain they have endured. Even though I know it was coming, the author somehow made it seem so real that I was able to feel it. Deep. But the one thing that held me back for giving this being a 5★ read is that the pacing was too slow for my taste. I guess I wanted it to hurry a bit and a little less on the back story of every decision. Other than that, this has been an enjoyable hot read.

“She locks her legs around my waist, lifting her hips, and suddenly we’re in that amazing zone where I’m balls-deep inside her and everything just… fits. It’s incredible. Fuck. Too incredible.”

Proceed at your own risk.

I loved this book! It was a real page turner. I loved the plot and refreshing premise.
Essie's only family is her beloved brother. He is her protector and her best friend. When a horrific accident changes her life forever, she will be left with nothing.
Aidan is a man who wants to live his life freely, away from his family's oppressive ways. He is happy when he is surfing, the sea is his life and he wants nothing more. But it's not so easy to be left out of his family's matters. One day, he ends up the sole person who can keep his family's business afloat. Knowing he has no other choice, he returns home.
Two people. Two fates colliding. Hate will get between them but will it be strong enough to keep them apart?
I have to be honest and say that I did find Essie's determination for revenge a bit overwhelming at times.
On the other hand, I loved Aidan. He really is my favorite character in this book and I simply loved his way of thinking. He made the book for me.
I love romances written by male authors and this one is one of the best. I think the author handled both point of views beautifully. I finished it in one sitting. Seriously eager for the next book!

5 addictive stars from me.

This is fantastic. I fucking LOVE when a new author sneaks up on me and rocks it out. I’m throwing high fives and fist pumping I’m so happy. This book starts out with a bang…okay, it’s more like a good hard fuck…before transporting five years in the past wherein your heart cracks, breaks and bleeds out.

Essie has ice around her heart and revenge embedded in her mind. It’s the only way that she’s been able to function since her brother – her best friend – her savior – was tragically torn from her. She’s spent the last five years plotting, planning and conniving – ready to execute her plan when the time is right. And she thinks she just found an opening. However, when she finally meets Aidan, the brother of the man who stole her world, her preconceived notions are shaken…and her body is stirred. Her ability to continue with the plan becomes questionable, especially when Aidan’s crooked smile, honest answers, and deft fingers infiltrate her to the core. *winks* Whose heart is going to end up breaking?

Aidan has been thrust into a world full of suits, bleak skies, and dark winters. It’s a far cry from when his world was defined by the surfing and pussy. However, as much as he initially hated this life that has been forced upon him, it’s started to grow on him – and make him grow. He’s a deeper character than you initially expect, and I loved that. When Ess approaches him, he knows that she’s up to something. He knows who she is. He could never forget since she’s been staring in all of his dreams. Can he figure out her game and beat her at it?

Cole not only had me completely empathetic to the characters, he also had me laughing out loud. Aiden is the perfect alpha man, loving all women as long as they love sex. I was thrilled with his honesty and fell for his charm. He tends to like his women a little bit on the submissive side, but he’s willing to make an exception for Ess – especially since he gets hard just thinking about her. I quickly fell in love with his mental commentary and I adored the sexual tension between Ess and Aiden.

Heartbreaker is crass, blunt, sexy, complex and hot as fuck. What’s not to love? Of course there’s a cliffhanger. Of course I’m now dying. OF COURSE I’ll be back for more. So well done! 5 stars!

Heart Breaker (The Heart Breaker Series book 1) by Cole Saint Jaimes
3.5 stars!!

“...it’s time for it to be over. Time for us both to cut our losses and run, or finally face up to the nasty shit from our past.”

I do love finding new authors and even rarer these days are male authors, so when I was friend requested and asked to read, I really couldn’t say no. Check out Cole Saint Jaimes Facebook Page, you can thank me later ;-)

For a debut author this book was really good, it is short at 126 pages but it is the start of a serial. I loved the authors writing style and it didn’t feel amateur at all. It is captivating and will pull you in from the very beginning.

This book is about Essie. Essie lived with her brother, they didn’t have much, but what they did have they worked hard for and they were both totally reliant on each other. They have always been there for each through the absence of parents and were as tight as a brother and sister could be, their bond was unbreakable. When the unthinkable happens, Essie’s life is decimated and after picking herself up, her mind is solely focused on revenge.

“She’s beautiful. She’s messed up. She’s broken, and the sad, shitty thing is that I’m not whole enough to fix her.”

I have to say I loved Aidan, he was a free spirit, and he had left his life behind him, left the fortune and left the family that drained him emotionally. He did not want to be a part of that life anymore so found himself in Hawaii, surfing and teaching, doing what he wanted and more importantly earning his own money. When life throws a curve ball, he is forced to return to the life he left behind and begrudgingly he goes knowing employees are now relying on him, but one thing about Aidan was he was selfless, he looked out for others, he was a genuinely great guy, and you couldn’t help but not love him.

There is a fine line between love and hate and you will be surprised at how driving hatred and revenge can be. While I thought this quest for revenge was totally misguided I could understand where it was coming from and unfortunately grief has a way of marring your common sense. But when the person you are supposed to hate turns out to not be the person you thought, what does the mind do? What does that person do?

“Hatred is a curious thing. It feeds you, threatens to completely overwhelm you, yet at the same time, it leaves you feeling hollow. Hungry. It encases you, enshrouds you, but you never feel warm, never feel protected. It’s an empty thing, yet it can completely consume you, demanding you never forgive, never forget.”

I wish that these two had met sooner so that we would have had more of an inkling as to what is going to happen going forward but this book is more laying the background and the circumstances surrounding these two characters. Little breadcrumbs have been dropped and I have my suspicions, so I cannot wait to see how this situation is going to pan out. Cole Saint Jaimes does a great job in drawing you into this story and unfortunately it ended all too soon, but I will be itching to get my hands on the next instalment.

“It won’t just be his end. It will be mine too.”

I know this is completely off point, but....Going into this, I have to admit, that the first thing that captured my eye and interest was the mention of Hawai’i (not “Hawaii” btw). As a woman who was born and lived there all my life, whenever I see book synopsis’ that mention Hawai’i, I immediately am piqued. I know that the book isn’t about my home state, but, it still strikes a humble accord in my mind and heart a smidge. *hehe*

However, that all said. Back to the actual book itself--

For an author debut, this actually was not bad and much better than I could have anticipated. Not bad at all.

It’s always funny how fate can play a game changing hand in the turn of events in one’s life. Sometimes for the good. And sometimes for the bad.

Aiden and Assie both battle feats of tragedy, loss, and personal vendetta; and experience the changing of tides in terms of love, destiny, self awareness and metamorphosis.

It was an ever adjusting shift to see both characters grow and develop as you witness a wide array of dynamics and how the most unlikely of things can link and define you.

Honestly, if you're looking for a smexy, out of the box, and captivating read to keep you comfy all night then this one is for you.

I definitely recommend!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Aidan Callahan had never been the person his family him wanted to be. His father and brother ran the multi-million dollar business in Chicago, while he got as far away as possible and lived a low profile life of surfing and hooking up with random girls. He didn't want the family business or the money that came with it, he was happy to work a job that made just enough to meet his needs and support his chosen lifestyle. His differences with his family meant he talked to them as little as possible so that he didn't have to hear what a failure he was to them constantly.

Essie Floyd and her brother grew up with nothing, being thrown from foster home to foster home, only having each other for love and support. Their two person family was everything to both of them. Her brother, Vaughn, was her best friend and her sole support system for all the hard knocks life kept throwing at them.

Both Aidan and Essie's lives are turned upside down after Aidan's brother fell asleep at the wheel killing himself, both of his parents and also the other driver, Vaughn. Aidan is forced to move to Chicago and take over the family business and fortune, becoming the very type of person he has always loathed. He's unhappy, unfulfilled and alone.

Essie spirals into a deep depression, caring about nothing anymore. She doesn't want a future that doesn't include Vaughn in it. The only thing that brings her back from despair is to focus all of that energy onto revenge. She's going to ruin Aidan Callahan. She's going to take everything from him just like his brother did to her. She develops an elaborate plan and puts it into motion.

Unbeknownst to her, Aidan has kept eyes on her and made sure she was taken care of ever since the accident. When she contacts him with a bogus business reason he knows she's up to something. He decides to play along until he can figure out what that is.

I'm not very happy with Essie. How is it fair to want to hurt someone who has done nothing to you? I understand that she's suffering but her blame is focused on the wrong person. There will be another book after this, luckily, because I don't know what's going to happen from here. I don't want to see Aidan get hurt anymore than he already has been. He lost three family members that same day, isn't that enough for her? I find her selfish, immature and just plain mean. I'm really hoping that as she gets to know Aidan for who he is, and not just his family name that she'll change her mind. Even if she does, though, I'm not sure I can forgive her original intentions. Aidan is a whole lot more understanding than I am about the reason why she hates him. And to know that any success she's had since the accident is actually because of Aidan's behind the scenes help! Part of me wishes he'd realize she doesn't deserve it and take it all away from her. THEN she could have a reason to hate him.

We won't know what's going to transpire though until we get the next book. Let's hope it's soon!

5 Need-book-2-RIGHT-NOW Stars!!

Delicious & captivating debut from Cole Saint Jaimes.

Two lives unwillingly brought together by tragedy.

With dual POV, we follow both Aidan & Essie through a life changing event. Essie took the road full of anger and revenge. She'll stop at nothing to avenge her brother, who was the only family she had left. But as soon as she meets Aidan, her plans start to fall through.

It won't just be his end. It will be mine, too.

Aidan wanted to live a simple life, full of surfing and women. When his parents & brother were killed in a car crash, he's forced to take over the family business despite his loath of the corporate world.

Little does Essie know that he desperately wants her in his life but is she willing to let go of her pain?

She's beautiful. She's messed up. She's broken, and the sad, shitty thing is that I'm not whole enough to fix her.

Book two to be released soon.

Well, this is short story you don't want to miss!
This isn't love story nor happy one.
This is about revenge and hate and it goes so great with sex!

The worlds of Essie and Aidan (which I adore the name, my friends knows) meets in a great same horrible tragedy and turn Aidan - the lazy 'happy' guy from Hawaii and Essie - the powerful yet poor girl from Chicago to cruel, calculated and especially unsatisfied with their lives.
This is my first time reading a male author story and I must say he's so good with words: you can feel hot and sad and happy moment after moment! Essie and Aidan.. couldn't put the kindle done.. and I'm looking forward to the next book of Cole Jaimes on mid September.
Bravo!

Gifted for an honest review – 3 ½ stars
I’ve read a few male author debuts over the last few months (debuts for this genre,) and I have to say so far so good. I can’t necessarily tell the difference if I’m being honest. I don’t get the hype of a new male author I really don’t, I don’t understand why it is such a big deal that a guy can write romance. Anyway…. I get the “debut” hype though as I love finding new authors. I found some depth in stories where I really wasn’t expecting to find any, but more for the type of stories that were written than the fact that it’s a male author. I think Cole Saint James most definitely has a future with his romantic fiction judging by this debut. It also hasn’t escaped my attention that this author has already built up quite a good fan base before releasing this book. Should take him far….
Onto the actual book, Heartbreaker. I’m swithering on my rating for this book I really am. It’s a storyline I’ve read many a time and I didn’t really find anything original in it so I have to take merit on other things, and to simply say I enjoyed it isn’t enough to grant those 5 stars. I did enjoy it, didn’t love it unfortunately, I didn’t really see where I could have wrung any more enjoyment from it. Whilst it had some great depth to it I felt it lacked some emotion, for me anyway. I always felt at arm’s length to the characters, not quite getting that connection, that hook. With this being the first book I really expected to have a good build up in character development, I felt a little disappointed with Essie. Being the protagonist, she was always going to be portrayed as the harsher of the two main characters and whilst I think Cole did an excellent job doing that I also think that maybe she lacked perhaps one or two redeeming qualities that a reader likes to see in order to sympathise. I just found Essie to be quite a cold hearted bitch if I’m being honest, even when she did soften, it wasn’t all that much. I understand the storyline, I really do but I need a relatable character and I couldn’t find that here.
Writing wise, it’s very mature and has a little flair to it but personally nothing jumped out at me that made me stop and think wow. 1st person dual pov works for me, I always like to read two sides of the story. Plot lines were clear with no gaping holes, fantastic cliff-hanger, and some really quite descriptive narrative for the most part. It was quite an easy read also; the pace of the book suited the story and carried the reader well. I never felt that I wanted to stop reading despite my disconnection. There are some quite angsty moments in here and a few hot intimate scenes which are written well. So as I said, I liked it. I would recommend it and I’ll wait to see what the next instalment brings. Very promising debut from a new author.

When Cole Saint Jaimes asked to be my friend on Facebook, I was a little weary. Who was this dude? More importantly, what does he want? I decided to check out his profile. Alright, another up and coming author. What the hell, I’ll give him a shot. Friend request accepted. Scrolling along, I notice a sign-up sheet for ARCs for his upcoming release, Heart Breaker. Don’t mind if I do. I made the best book related decision in months by filling out one tiny little form.

Essie and Aidan come from two VERY different worlds. Essie has had to save and scrimp to get where she is, while Aidan was more or less handed the good-life on a silver platter. Only, Aidan doesn’t want it. He’s content to spend is days, and possibly nights, surfing away on the beaches of Hawaii. His family isn’t happy with his decision, but that hasn’t stopped him from living a simple, peaceful existence.

Essie and her brother live together in a run-down apartment, one they fought like hell to get into. She and her brother rely on one another to make it through. They’re as close as two siblings can be, and while they’re financially troubled, they’re rich in love.

Until everything changes…

Through a twist of fate, one no one saw coming, Essie and Aidan’s lives change forever.

Now Essie is determined to right an impossible wrong.

When I tell you that Cole was born to write, HE WAS BORN TO WRITE. This is not the quality of work you expect from a first time author. #sorrynotsorrry. It’s more, so much more. Cole’s writing jumps from the pages, making the story play out before your eyes. He’s got a gift, and also a cliffhanger. Bah… But in this very specific case, I’m okay with that. We needed the back story before the nitty gritty, in-depth story telling begins, before these characters break one another.

If you can’t tell already, I loved this book, and I hate saying that because it’s so overused. I thoroughly enjoyed Cole’s writing style. His character development is on point. He wraps you up so tightly in the web he’s spun, that you don’t want to be released. Evil spider… I cannot wait for the second book to be released. We need answers here, Cole!

Aidan is a surfer, a free spirit doing what he loves and living a simple happy life. One fateful day it all came to an end. He has to go back to what he detested the most and fought to stay away from.

Essie lives with her brother; they only have each other. They struggle financially to makes ends meet. But, Essie has faith that they are slowly getting their footing. One fateful day it all came to an end. Now all she lives for is revenge.

Aidan and Essie are both very confident in their sexuality. They are both dominant in the bedroom, so this makes for an interesting combination.

Aidan – “Sex, for me, is a practice in trust. I know what I like, and what I like can be intimidating to some people.”

Essie – “And yes, I s**ew them. I’m not the lay-back-and-take-it-girl. I know what I want and I go after it when I’m with a guy.”

The opening line in this book will have you changing your panties and not wanting to put it down:

“No one can f**k you like I can. No one can make you scream like me. Once you’ve accepted this simple truth, I’ll reward you with my tongue.”

The book starts in the present day and then it goes back to 5 years earlier to tell us how Aidan and Essie came together. Aidan won me over with his confidence, he speaks his mind and he is a caring person. Essie has me on the fence. She suffered a great loss that has made her become a cold and calculating bitch. She is solely focused on her misplaced thirst for revenge. She is unforgiving.

The story is told in Essie’s and Aidan’s POV. It is heart wrenching and it is hot. It moves fast and it ends hard. It ends in a cliffhanger that has me panting waiting for the final book. I’m hoping Essie will soften up and show her sweet side. How will their relationship develop? Will Essie let go and forgive? How will they each play out their power in the bedroom? I’m ready………

“It won’t be just his end.”
“It will be mine, too.”

This is the debut book by Cole Saint James and I did really enjoy it.

The story is about Aidan and Essie. An event happens that changes both Aidan and Essie’s life’s forever. Aiden enjoys surfing and living a fun life in Hawaii as he never wanted to be part of his families business. Essie is living with her brother and both their lives on the up after a rough couple of years but then something happens that changes each other lifes. Aidan is forced to come home and take over the family business and Essie is very bitter and out for revenge that she has been planning for years.

This book is really short and I read it in just under 2hrs but it is part 1 of a two parter. This book is really providing background on Aidan’s and Essie’s life and leads up to them meeting which doesn’t really happen till near the end. For me it felt like a little bit of slow burner and I would have liked for them to meet earlier in the book but I’m sure we will get plenty of them together in book 2. I really liked Aidan’s character he was easy to connect to and seemed like a good man. Essie I didn’t like too much she seemed too much focused on revenge and I really hope her plans change in book 2. I have every faith that Aidan can help heal Essie pain she has held onto for last couple of years.

The book is told both Aidan’s and Essie’s POV and as I said it was a quick read but the plot flowed really well. Overall a great little debut and I look forward to future books by the author.

Really enjoyed this one! Story was well written and very easy to follow. Both the female and male characters were both very likeable.

Essie's life was never easy, but she was happy with the life she'd carved out with her brother. Tragedy strikes, taking everything from her, but it doesn't leave her as the typical broken girl like most books do. She's beautiful, smart and strong willed, but anger at what she's lost has her seeking out revenge.

Aidan's the reluctant heir to his family's company and fortune. Neither of which he wants. He'd be happy and content living out his life on the beach, sleeping in his Jeep, fucking beautiful women, and most importantly surfing the ocean's waves.

Essie's misplaced anger falls onto Aidan. She's determined to take him down regardless of the consequences. But she's finding out he's not exactly who she thought he was, but she still plans on ruining him.

How will their story end? Not sure, but I definitely can't wait to find out.

For a debut book, this wasn't a bad attempt.
It kept me reading and I did finish it off in one, four hour session.
I love reading sex scenes written by men. They have a completely different feel to them than female written ones. Cole Saint Jaimes has done a brilliant job with it in this book.
As soon as I saw that 'the f word' is the 4th word in this book, I got excited...I really thought it would be a punchy book, something to get my teeth into.
Unfortunately, it fell a little flat for me.
Storyline is really rather predictable, there's no "ooooh" moments or "ahhhh" moments or even "wtf?!" moments.
I like Aiden as a character. I really do. He's got something about him that draws you in. Which is probably why I just can't take to Essie (I had to go back and look her name up...never a good sign!)
I don't know, I wanted to like it, and my initial reaction was that I did, but now that I've slept on it and writing this review after 7 hours sleep, I've got some niggles.
Honestly, it's not a bad book, it just didn't give me that ooomph I was hoping for.

5 unbelievable stars for Heart Breaker ... !!!
I started reading Heart Breaker at about 11:30 last night, I figured I would just get started, well before I knew it is was 3am I was done and left wanting more.
I love reading a story written by male author's. I don't know what it is, but it intrigues me. Cole Saint Jaimes did not disappoint with his debut "Heart Breaker". This story was so much more than I expected. The plot is solid, it is very well written, easy to connect with the characters and leaves you wanting more.

Aidan Callahan and Essie Gray's story is fast paced, and heart wrenching and definitely some sizzle there!

I expect many more great things for this new and upcoming author. I can't wait to get my greedy hands on the conclusion of Aidan and Essie's story.

I highly recommend reading Heart Breaker..

5 Star Book Review | Heartbreaker by Cole Saint Jaimes

I gave Heartbreaker a 5 STAR rating! I cried when the news of the accident was delivered to Essie and Aidan, mostly Essie though, because she loved her brother fiercely. I'm really looking forward to seeing if Essie will go through with her revenge plans. I'm also looking forward to seeing what happens between her and Aidan. This debut novel was so incredible good! It caught me and didn't let go until I was finished, and even still it's claws are in me waiting for the next book. This is definitely a must read!

Essie is a sassy little thing, “no, not particularly. Why? Is the idea of me having an uninvited male guest over cute to you?” Jesus Aidan has some stamina he doesn't give his woman enough recovery time, “three minutes, Ess. I’ll give you three minutes and then I’m going to make you come again. Will you be ready?” I didn't realize this was a two part book, which means we were left with a cliffhanger. I didn't like that but I'm eagerly waiting for part two.

Aidan Callahan and Essie Gray both have their lives turned upside down.
“Everything I’ve tried to free myself from is mine.”

An ironic twist of fate seems to be messing with Aidan’s plans; meanwhile, Essie is no stranger to hardships. She’s the type of person who’s been dealt so many bad times that it’s hard to believe in the permanence of good times, her happiness always short-lived.

The blurb on this one does a spot on job describing the plot so I won’t linger on a general description. I will say that the opening chapters that establish the premise of the book aptly capture tragedy better than I think I’ve ever read. All the aspects are there—the heartache, the agony, the disbelief, and the guilt. As a result it felt like so much more than a simple (and in this case necessary) plot device. Instead, a well done, realistic, gripping depiction of untimely demise.
“‛I’d like it if you’d f*ck off and die and never call me again, Alex.’”

Ah, famous last words.

The tale is told via Aidan and Essie’s alternating first person POV. Aidan’s is the most engaging, his commentary and approach to life easily pulls the reader in. He doesn’t take any crap and he’s a little intense.
“When I woke up this morning, my sheets were full of semen and my head was pounding from lack of oxygen. Even in my sleep, I hold my breath when I’m coming. How f*cking messed up is that?”

So far he’s an intriguing book boyfriend with a lot of promise.
“‛I’ve always been sexually charged, Ess. I like to f*ck. I’d go as far as to say it’s my favorite pastime.’”

Essie, I’m still on the fence about. She certainly a bit naïve, definitely broken, and while I could feel for her anguish, I wasn’t entirely sold on her revenge, the blame clearly misplaced with Aidan her scapegoat.

This is only part one of the story and it takes awhile till they are really in each other’s presence, though their paths have crossed.
“I’m all too aware of how fucked up it is that I’m thinking about fingering her ass the first time we meet in person.”

But the pull feels a little one sided with Essie playing a different game. I craved a little more equal build-up to develop their chemistry that I’m not entirely sure is there or not yet. That’s not to say that their hook-up isn’t steamy—it is!!! Aidan is quite talented in the bedroom, particularly with his oral skills. Holy cow does this man know what he’s doing! He’s a total scene stealer—the highlight of the show.
“‛F*ck, Aidan. Oh f*ck, that’s going to make me come. You’re gonna make me come all over you.”

Overall, it’s an easy one sitting read, intriguing enough to keep you wondering where it’s going next. I suspect there are more twists to come. A few hints seemed to have been dropped. With that in mind I hope there are pitfalls it avoids. I’m also hoping to see more sexy times between Essie and Aidan as well as some romance as we haven’t really been shown that yet. But the writing is captivating and it flows well, making it a promising debut.

When it comes to new authors, I'm always worried. Not going to lie. There's all this build up, all the hype, the anticipation. And sometimes you are let down. I've been seeing all of these teasers for Heart Breaker all over my newsfeed for the last month now. So I was very intrigued and excited! And then the day came that I received an ARC. And I can happily tell you that...OMG I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!! The writing is just so different than what I normally read. We generally have the typical hero/heroine. But in this story, it's like they are reversed a little. I will admit, it took me a LONG while to warm up to Essie. She's messed up. She has issues. She has been given a pretty shitty life. And after a horrific tragedy, it has turned her into this cold, dark, angry, vengeful woman. She has her reasons. But she has gone to extreme measures. Her reason is Aidan Callahan. She is out to destroy this man. Crush and rip his heart out. But Aidan is no fool. Can I mention that he is sexy, charming, also controlling. And likes to fuck. God, I died every time he said this. I don't know why, but those few little words, when delivered right, just does it for me. And Aidan just completely does it for me. I love his personality. How he calls Essie out on her bull shit, how he pushes her. The sexual buildup between these two had me wanting to crawl into my phone and just rip their clothes off for them!! Normally when I have to wait for the sexy times to occur, it's a problem. But the way Mr. St. Jaimes carries it out is brilliantly and perfectly done. The sexual buildup, the teasing, the waiting, had me so worked up I literally felt like I became the character. I felt their frustration! But let me tell you, when they came together (pun intended), you felt it through every part of your body. And that is the power of writing, my friends.
I am excited for the next part in this series! I'm already at the level of "OH MY GOD I NEED IT NOW!!!" Cole St. Jaimes has made a new fan. And I'm positive you will instantly become one. If you haven't 1-clicked this yet....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!! Do it now!!!

This is Cole St. Jaimes debut novel and I was totally engaged in the story from the first hot as hell sex scene. The story then jumps to five years earlier, where we are introduced to the lives of Essie Gray and Aidan Callahan. Two people who become the victims of a devastating tragedy when all their family members are killed in a car accident. The twist of fate here is that the car that killed Essie's brother was driven by Aidan’s brother.

Essie was beyond heartbroken; she lost her only family member, her brother Vaughn. No stranger to hard times, Essie was not sure how she would survive without her beloved brother. Aidan’s world was equally shaken. His happy life of surfing, screwing and drugging in Hawaii was over. He was now the head of the Callahan business, back in Chicago, doing what he never wanted to do.

The first time they meet was at the cemetery; although, they both were aware of what happened in each other’s lives after the accident. It was only a look from a distance, but from that one glance, Essie vowed to avenge the death of her brother and “eradicate the Callahan name from the face of this planet for good.” Aidan on the other hand felt an attraction for her, which he thought about often over the next five years, which is how long it would be until they met again.

Essie's obsession did not wane at all during those years, but what she wasn’t prepared for was the attraction she felt for the man she wanted to destroy when they finally did meet again. She couldn’t ignore what was happening between them. The sex between these two dominate people was erotic, hot and left you wanting for more, more, more!!! This book does end with a cliffhanger, and I wanted the next book before I even closed the last page on my kindle!!! I loved this story! Congratulations Cole, it was a great read!! I will leave you with this small teaser. . . . . . .

Essie ~ “I think what I’m telling you,” she says slowly, “is that I want you to make me want it.” Aidan ~ “I can make you want it,” I say. “I can make you beg for it.”

Oh, I love when a new writer comes on the scene and I take the book blindly trying to help out and I end up really enjoying it. This is Cole Saint Jaimes debut novel and I am truly shocked at how much I enjoyed this first novel from him. The writing is good for a debut work but the story is tons better.

'Hatred is a curious thing. It feeds you, threatens to completely overwhelm you, yet at the same time, it leaves you feeling hollow.'

I admit from the teasers and the fact that a male author is writing in the romance genre, I thought it would mostly be a sexual read, but this book is pretty thick with plot and story. So, the beginning started out a little slow for me and I had concerns that I was not being hooked fast enough. Heart Breaker is on the short side and I felt time rearing it's ugly head. In my mind, nothing was really happening yet, Essie and Aidan haven't even met and I was over a quarter done with the book. Where is this going, I kept thinking to myself. Turns out I had no need to worry, because Cole was really laying the foundation blocks of this story and a big part of that is Essie and Aidan before the 'big accident'. In fact, getting to know Essie and Aidan before the accident is super important because these two become changed so gravely as a side effect of it. And that, my friends is where the real story comes to life. Post accident where revenge is the main goal of one character and absolution for the other. So, if the story starts off a bit slow for you, keep going. "IT" is going to happen. The story is going to get good and hook you. I was hooked from about halfway through and couldn't stop. I enjoyed the dual POV writing style and the sex scenes were pretty hot with a good dose of dirty talk. Ill definitely be checking out some more of Cole's books in the future, especially the conclusion of this story since it does happen to end on quite a big cliff hanger!

'It won't just be his end.
It will be mine, too.'

WoW! I am rightfully impressed. Very rarely do I have the opportunity to give a debut author a five star review. Usually there is something that I feel is missing, editing, characters talking and not knowing when to shut up, etc. I one-clicked on buy this book at the posting of another author and price point. I didn't know the synopsis or any details going in. Just some general facts and the title. I went in with an expectation, and came out in the end very, very pleasantly surprised.

"This awful, dark, evil pain that's fueling her for so many years now has no place within her, and yet she refuses to part with it."

Before I dive into why I was so impressed with the story, I'll just say that Mr. St. Jaimes can write a HOT scene that will melt your eReader where you feel it in your toes. They say women are verbal stimulated creatures, and his written bedroom scenes had my sheets on fire.

But there was a really great story here. One about grief. How it changes the course of your life. How it molds our futures, how we look at things and what it changes within us. Aidan and Essie are both dealing with grief from an unexpected death of family members. Not a new storyline, been told before. However, the way the two characters are dealing with their losses had me turning the pages for more. Aidan is one of those male characters that you love to love. Hot, sexy, in control, loyal and doing the right thing. But by far Essie - I just LOVED this girl. She is strong. She has convictions. She is no one's doormat. And she is tenacious. What I loved best, she is dark. Normally that is left to male characters of this genre. Not this story - it's our heroine.

I recommend you go buy and read this book now. Consider yourself warned, it ends with a WHAT?!?! But part 2 should be released sometime in September so we don't have long to wait to finish Aidan and Essie's story.
