Tarrow Rivers is determined to wait on his mate, he scents her in the swamps, can see her in the trees, but he knows she's not ready to meet him. Yet fate has other plans.
Dahlia Branch has been groomed for an independent life since birth. Clans are something she's always been warned against. She knew she would never be a part of one...until she finds Tarrow, who is not only a loyal clan member but one of their Betas.
Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.
Engraven is everything I wanted it to be and so much more a breathtaking all consuming read that grabs UR heart and pulls U in! Be warned as soon as U finish this book U will be craving the next one!!! Full of honey sweet romance and snarky banter that will have U up all night giggling! Tarrow absolutely stole my heart and is My fave of all Lila's Beautiful Bear Shifter Boys! He's a Sexy smartass lol funny sweet romantic protective and so loving with Dahlia!
Some of my fave quotes!
"Amber irises locked with mine as my heartbeat arrested, having me clawing at my chest in desperation for the blood pumping sensation to return. No breaths were to be had as my first thought drifted into the air, thanking the Creator for chance encounters that weren’t so chance at all" ~Tarrow
"He was relieving me for security detail and I couldn’t take him seriously when he was stripped down to his boxers and writing things on a clipboard with some of those elder-looking reader glasses on. Just one time, I was going to flip that clipboard and make it pop him right in the nose" ~Tarrow
"The scent of pine and the sound of rapid breathing piqued my ears and nose. My mate smelled like heaven and sin—slow delicious sin. I risked a look in the direction of my mate and found he’d shifted and wore nothing but a pair of jeans, worn and ragged at the knees. His feet were bare. His chest gleamed under the crescent moon. He was mine" ~Dahlia
"As I came to a stand, he pulled once and my breath failed me once again as our chests collided, his unclad and mine barely covered with a thin shirt. His eyelashes were the clincher. Yes, he had a killer body and a voice that could melt chocolate from a distance, but when he batted those come-hither brown eyes I was done in" ~Dahlia
Lila Felix will have U feeling like U have stepped right into the magical world she has created and falling madly in love with her characters! I Can't wait to get my claws on Beholden book 4!!!
I adore this series. It's very well written, as all Lila's books are. I love the love story of Tarrow and Dahlia it's not your typical mating. She is so independent with little trust in clan life. Tarrow has a heart of gold and is dedicated to the clan. There are many obstacles they have to overcome to make it to the ceremony. This is one of my favorite shifter series. It made me laugh and cry. I can't wait for book 4. This is certainly a must-read.
I really liked Tarrow and Dhalia. They were so cute and I loved Tarrow’s determination to be the best mate to Dhalia. She had reservations about clans because the previous alpha was a douche. As a result she and her family lived on their own. So now Tarrow has to help her and her family see that their clan has changed for the better.
Rev made it so hard to like him in this book. He did not give Dhalia a good first impression at all. I know he’s a recluse and expresses himself differently but dang. I felt like he was always embarrassing Tarrow and taking advantage of him. He was such a douche and I hated it.
I loved how Dhalia stood up for him though. However, it got irritating how she would always overreact, for no apparent reason and just assume the worst. And no matter how “manly” Tarrow may be, the fact that he always had to please her just emasculated him. It’s like there was no balance, no give and take. (Hawke and Echo did strike a balance though. Which is why their story is my favorite.)
Content: PG13 Clean, suggestive statements throughout (nothing explicit) Language: 45 S words, 22 A words, 0 F words but it’s suggested a couple of times.
This book was just okay for me. I did like the premise of the story and liked Tarrow. I liked the progression of the series as a whole but enjoyed the "war" aspect of it too. There was none of that in this book. There were also too many grammatical errors, an indecisive heroine, too many misunderstandings and the parts where River was mentioned were confusing.
Would I read Cia/Aspen's story? Yes, but I hope that it has much more of a plot and a likable heroine.
Dear Ms Felix, if you let a character die in a previous story, make sure he stays that way or share your recipe of resurrecting people! I for sure would love to get my late husband back.
Wow some relationship s are rocky, this one a twister. However blessing can be seen even through devastation.
Dahlia like the flower loves the outside and freedom. She lived outside the clan of shifters so finding a mate that is a beta serving the Alpha was not going over lightly. Tarrow was an only child and a jokester. People didn't take him seriously but they didn't know he was extremely responsible, loyal an attentive he had them fooled. The rollercoaster of this relationship and drama is high.violence1, sex1 clean romance

Awww Tarrow and Dahlia are too cute. Their story is not straight forward with many ups and downs but it’s a lovely read. Good story, plot and I love the characters. Some angst but mainly over reactions and misunderstandings. Some very sweet loving moments, as these reads are pj13. Overall a very cute read that I enjoyed.
This was well written and the characters were relateable, but I was not completely captivated by this story. It was slow paced but not boring. It did not seem to drag on. It was sweet and other than the language, very appropriate for teens. 3.5 stars
Not entirely sure why I'm still reading, since the editing is incomplete, and the values are both too big and too little a deal, but apparently I still am.
Our adventures with our bear friends continue. Tarrow has been tracking his mate in the swamp for months before he finally meets her on an errand. But her father is rabidly against their clan. Who will she choose?
Omg. I love all of the books so far. It all new with each couple. Nothing feels like it just being repeated like Iv read with some. I can’t wait to read on the news mated player of the clan.
Another great addition to the series. With another new couple and their own set of problems. This one hit the emotions in a few spots the others didn't.
Good story, but man did this need an editor. The wrong people are talking or someone else talks without knowing who until later, names are mixed up...it's a mess.
Dahlia has a lot to learn about the clan life now that she has found her mate. Her parents have always dwelled on the fact that clan life is not good. But Dahlia is seeing the good when she is with Tarrow. Until she sees the bad, and it only reinforces what her father has been telling her her whole life. Can she learn to love the clan Tarrow is a part of? Or will she convince him to start a new life of their own?
When I first read BURDEN I was smacked useless for several days after finishing it. Any book I may have read soon after most likely didn't register for me. I was that much in love with the story. While I did love book 2, HEARTEN, it still didn't give me all the feels like BURDEN did. But then ENGRAVEN happened. This book! This book once again reminded me of all the feels I had for BURDEN.
** Breaking away from her lips was sheer torture. I pulled back to see her eyes still closed, her mouth still open the slightest bit, her chin tipped back begging me to explore her neck and beyond. "Breathe, female," I teased. **
So much of it reminds me of BURDEN but not too much where you feel it is the same book. Tarrow's character mirrors Hawke's in a way that you know he loves his mate wholeheartedly. He only wants her to be happy. And if that means that he must go away or have her break their bond, then so be it. Gotta love a guy who will move heaven and earth to make his mate happy.
Then we see that Dahlia is a lot like Echo as she is trying to come to terms with being a part of something that is so foreign to her. She will have to learn to understand this new life and try to live it. It will be a hard road for both.
** She took my hand in hers and I gasped at the connection. There wouldn't be a time when my mate didn’t surprise me. **
The romance was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I drank this story in and came out with the same wonderful feels I had with the first book. I love a story that you know will end well-it has to-but you still get the nervous jitters wondering what all they will go through to reach their happily ever after. Felix doesn't ever (EVER) make it easy on her characters. Something will happen but you better believe they are going to have one hell of a romance to tell in the end.
So if you want a love story to go along with a fantastic shifter read...these books are it. If you haven't picked them up...get on it!! You will thank me later. Oh and there is a snippet of what is to come in book 4, BEHOLDEN. 5 Amazing Stars!
This is book 3 in the Bayou Bears Chronicles!! I loved the first two and was not disappointed because this one was just as great!!
This one is about Tarrow, who is one of the betas in the clan, and Dahlia, who has never been in a clan and has been told how bad they her whole childhood….what a great start right?!
I really loved Tarrow in this one, he knew she wasn’t ready for him so he kept away even though he wanted to do anything but that. They saw each other for the first time outta pure accident!
"Amber irises locked with mine as my heartbeat arrested, having me clawing at my chest in desperation for the blood pumping sensation to return. No breaths were to be had as my first thought drifted into the air, thanking the Creator for chance encounters that weren’t so chance at all."
Dahila has a lot to learn about clan life and about letting someone help her out. She is the oldest of 6 girls so she’s always helped her parents out so she’s use to taking care of herself. Tarrow just wants to do what’s right by his mate!
They have many up and down moments while they try and figure out how to be together and learn about each other.
His words carried the weight of pain—pain I’d forced on him by lying to him. “I’m sorry. I can’t—I need you. Please.” Before I’d even finished my shaky statement, he was next to me, his arms encircling my waist, pulling me toward him. “I’m here. I just went outside, but you knew that.”
I love Dahlia’s spunkiness!! I love how she stands up for Tarrow since he never does…it made my heart melt!!
Will they be able to figure out how to be together? Will they end up as part of the clan or will they decide to go out on there own?
This is a must read series for anyone who loves paranormal shifter stories!!
I like Tarrow and Dahlia story a lot. I love that Dahlia was standing up for Tarrow to his pack members and Alpha. I hated how they treated him through the series. I felt bad for him because everyone kept picking on him because he still lived with him mom. I understand why and they should of respect that. I wanted to take care of her and didn't want her to be on her own. I honestly loved Tarrow mom. She was so wised and willing to let complete strangers move in with her because it was her son mates family. I like that Tarrow was able to help Dahlia understand a little bit about being in a clan as well as Dahlia sharing how its also good to be on your own in away because you didn't have to take orders from anyone. The way Dahlia was willing to help Echo without even knowing a lot about her should that she was a very caring and kind person. Im happy they finally mated and that Dahlia sister also found her mate.

This has to be my favourite book by Lila Felix so far however the amount of errors was phenomenal! From spelling to how many sisters Dahl is had to character names, there were so many mistakes and I got a little exasperated by the end. Ignoring the many mistakes, I think I have a new favourite male lead. Tarrow is the kind of guy every girl dreams of and hopes for. Dahlia and Tarrow were very sweet and although they had their share of misunderstandings it was nice to read about a couple that weren't completely opposed to each other and fought all the time. A lovely romance, it was just what I needed after reading stories with so much conflict recently (sometimes relationships shouldn't be THAT hard). However I am looking forward to reading Acacia's story - hopefully there will be lots of grovelling from her mate!
It’s a good thing this is pretty much a stand-alone story because I read this one a little out of order! It wasn’t until I was almost halfway through that I realized that some tiny details didn’t quite make sense. But that was due to it being book three I was reading and not book two!
Looking for Gentle Ben come to life? Look no further than Tarrow Rivers, a bear shifter with an incredible amount of patience and a giant heart. Which is good because he’s going to need all of the patience he can muster to deal with the whirlwind that becomes his life once he meets his mate Dahlia Branch.
Between the ribbing from his Clan mates and the opinions of her family and everything else that gets between these two they have a pretty rough ride ahead of them. Will love be enough to win out? See for yourself!
what can I say??? loved this book, and I must say I can not wait to get back to the Bayou! I love how you can read any of Lila Felix's books and instantly feel as if you are there, a part of it all. This series is just one of several shifter series that I have read and I enjoy them a lot. It is great to read yourself to another world, and to lose yourself there to escape the real world. Enjoy reading this series!!
Book three in the series. I really liked Tarrow in this book. He did take a lot of crap from Rev, but finally put him in his place. Dahlia, grew up without a clan but seemed to fit in with Tarrow’s clan quite well. They seemed to have great chemistry. I really enjoyed this book except it seemed to end abruptly.
