The Creation: In The Beginning

Rate this book
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth..."

Deep in the jungles of the Venezuelan Rainforest a search has begun that could change the fate of humanity forever. A dying phytopharmacologist, James Dugan, will join depraved scientists and ruthless mercenaries, stopping at nothing in an effort to overcome humanity’s one common enemy: Mortality.

Meanwhile, plans have been laid by an eco-revolutionary group, led by rebel Faye Moanna, to put an end to the illegal deforestation taking place in the Amazon. But her true motives for going to Venezuela may compromise much more than their sociopolitical objective.

Because a frightening power is stirring in the Amazon, an event beginning that only occurred once in the history of the Earth – during its process of Creation. And it will take more than tenacity and ingenuity to survive the coming seven days.

The Creation is about to begin anew on planet Earth, and what these two groups are about to discover is that in order to Create, one must first Destroy.

** "In The Beginning" is a novella-length chapter included in the first novel of The Creation Series, titled The Creation **

My writing career began in the third grade when tasked with an assignment to write about rain. I opted to tell the story of a raindrop who decided life wasn't worth living and leapt to his death only to discover that really he was being reborn. (You know that whole life-cycle thing).

Yeah, I was a little twisted even back then. Thankfully my teacher encouraged my writing rather than send me for a psych evaluation... (that came later). Let's see...

I was a child actor and starred in recurring roles in Dynasty and Highway to Heaven, and was even in an episode of The Twilight Zone.
I dropped out of college to join a rockband.
I was kicked out of the Peter Pan ride at Disneyland for lobbing rocks onto toy houses.
I have a grave in my backya ...
Oh wait, this is a BIO not a CONFESSIONAL.

Bottom line: I love to write. Thankfully, my family puts up with it. The very act of creating something that might be slightly askew keeps me going. I'm drawn to dark fiction where I find an appreciation for the light. Horror, thrillers, suspense. Things that make you question your own reality or open your mind to look at the world a little differently than you might have before.

I'm grateful to all those who give an independent author like myself a chance.
Seriously. Thank you.

For more about me, my works, (my rants), and upcoming projects, please stop by: my website. I promise I don't bite.

(See, there's a reason they keep me muzzled).

This review board does not allow us to give a half star, for the record I give this a 4.5 stars. The characters are very complex, The Behrg takes you on a journey throughout this Novella of several distinct groups of people and how they will eventually entwine with one another. These people are in Venezuela for very different reasons however their paths will eventually cross due to the world's circumstance. Each nuisance of every character plays a role as the story unfolds. From this reader perspective I found the story believable although it does have some very macabre moments.

Everyone in this Novella is on a mission to get what they need congregating in the same place for different reasons. It appears as if some know the other groups, but it was not fully revealed and if so how do they know one another? I am giving this a 4.5 stars, because this is only an installment of the Trilogy.

The beginning of the book may throw you off a little until you realize you are being introduced to all of the characters and their supporting counterparts in the first few verses then it will take you back and forth once again. The Behrg is a non conformist which makes this read even more Mysteriously Suspenseful. I look forward to finding out what happens to these people as I plan on reading this entire trilogy. I received this book for free in exchange for my honest unbiased review.

I loved this book and no matter how hard I tried, I could not tear myself away from it! I thought it was a very unpredictible book. The book was full of suspense. I thought by the title of the book, that this was going to be a Christian book, so that totally threw me off a bit! I was left wanting more from this chapter, but I will most definitely be purchasing the rest of the series as soon as I am able to! Fantastic book, that I give ★★★★★.

It has it all: secrets in the Amazonia, mystery within the characters and horrifying supernatural apocalypse! A secret underground lab with terrible experiments. The author has a great quality in describing the reality of the horror of corruption in the country, and the suffering of its people. I suffered a lot, but couldn't put down the book; now I feel compelled to read the rest of the trilogy! Muy buen trabajo, Behrg!

Amazing, compelling, striking and foretelling. I can't wait to tear very big bites from the rest of the series. This author makes you think. His style and command of his genre should place him in the upper echelons of horror and suspense. I recommend this work to all bipeds.

Into the rest of this series
I highly recommend this work to all bipeds. Great read you won't want to put down.

As of right now this book is free on Amazon so you can get a copy and try the book out.
Probably by reading the title you might think this is going to be a religious book it is not. Two groups of people within this story one who wants to save the rain forest and all that is being done to it from man. To one group who seems to be searching for something and seems to be very cruel. I honestly am not sure what to expect from this book as it was well written and everything comes together but it is all still a mystery, but I guess I need to find out more. Which will lead me to read the next book in this series. Now as far as characters umm I didn't click with any of them but the one that does stand out is Sir Williams. We meet him later within the book and he is like the town drunk so to speak. Maybe as the story progresses we will get more character development.
I have to say the scene with the bodies (not graphic or anything) was pretty neat that really had me wondering what the heck is going to happen and did this person start the earthquake? It is hard for me to write the review on this book as I am not sure how to write it fully without giving anything away. I just hope that in the next book that we get more as to why these two groups are fully doing what they are doing and will we get the answers. I will just leave that there.

This is engaging, vividly setting up a number of threads to follow. I’m not sure it’s standalone though. It doesn’t feel complete by itself. It seems like it’s just getting started. I know it’s part of a larger work, but I don’t think it finishes a full arc alone rather than just introducing. Still, good stuff.

In the complex beauty of the Amazon Rainforest, many secrets are hidden. The unique flora and fauna could be harboring undiscovered cures to human illnesses.

Mankind shares a common enemy. Mortality. However, we part ways at the place where we all choose different paths to battle our common enemy.

In the jungle, we meet two distinct groups of people who have drastically different goals and reasons for being there. A clash could not be avoided.

A crime was being committed against the rainforest. Deforestation. Beautiful, mature trees were being mowed down by always hungry machines. This was being directed by evil men who were motivated by greed.

My favorite character was the rather odd and eccentric Sir William, who enjoyed astronomy, philosophy, drinking and writing. He lived in a unique house which was cluttered with too much furniture and stacks of books. Sir William shared his home with a naughty spider monkey, Spree, named for the ongoing spree of destruction left in his wake.

An enjoyable, well written book.

Very interesting and I am left begging to know more. In this Novel the stage is set for what seems to be a very interesting conspiracy with a supernatural undertone. You meet several very interesting characters who make you want to know more about them and what their final roles will be in this story. I think that this will be a very interesting series and I hope to be able to dive into the remainder of the books soon.

Slow start.

I liked the book but the information is very confusing until midway. Then it began to intertwine with both groups. I'd read more. It seems like as things make sense this novella ends.

This novella is really well written (it must be impossible for The Berg to write any other way), and quite intriguing. It is just not my cup of tea.

I was not drawn into this story like I hoped. It diverged a few times and lost me.Narration was good enough.Don Warrick needs to work on his ladies voices.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book failed to seize my interest. Perhaps It would have held my attention If it had begun with more background information on the characters/why I should be invested in them?
