Laci and Cole have been married for over twenty years, their only child is away at college and they are left with an empty nest. While most couples pick up a new hobby there are those of us that are brave enough to seek out our own fantasies and make them come to life.

Laci has always felt the need to control, and when a little role play with the hubby results in one of their most erotic experiences in their life it gets the ball rolling.

Cole has nothing but love for his wife, she has his respect and his utter devotion. If having him underneath her makes her happy then he is willing to sit back and let her take the reins.

Bit by bit as new fantasies are introduced, Laci leads Cole into making new sexual discoveries. While Laci is responsible to see to their pleasure, it is with his body, his trust and his submission that allows them to get to there. They're just at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to sexual-consensual play and the possibilities are endless; all you need is an open mind ...

Laci on Top sheds light to a different portrayal of dominant women that I think many can relate too. It sheds light to a different kind of relationship where it is female-lead. There is nothing derogatory or humiliating in their interactions as Cole is man enough to give her what she needs. For me it was a breathe of fresh air going into this journey with them, as there is that sense of realness, the trepidation of navigating in unknown waters. Where dominance is not a battle because it is tempered with love, wanting nothing more than giving each other pleasure.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sensually sexy read, the writing is expressive, bringing to life the story. One that invites you to join in on their fantasy, to laugh and explore with them. I loved Cole, he was a man's man, but could easily melt at his wife's touch. For Laci we see her step into the role seamlessly, solidifying the fact that she was born this way and not a simple whim of a lifestyle choice. This dual POV allows us into both mindsets and never gets us to question their relationship or their roles. And while their story did come to an end, it is left open to the possibilities of more.

“I swear you're trying to kill me.”
“Patience, I promise to make it a pleasurable death.”

That was a fun read. Sexy, hilarious and quick.

Laci and Cole have been married for more than 20 years and recently their only son has left the home for university. Just the right time for a loving couple to do some experimenting. Laci has always been dominating in bed and with the new found freedom they take it a little further.

I am not a newbie when it comes to femdom reads, but those books usually tend to be more on the edgy side. Laci on Top is a perfect gateway drug. Very light and easy to get into, maybe take a feel if the genre is something you want to read more of. Cole and Laci have very beautiful and established relationship, as well as a lot of trust. Exploring their fantasies is easy and makes the book a very lovely read, wrapped up in light BDSM.

For someone who usually goes for strong, alpha male book boyfriends I really liked Cole in this book. He commits to his wife, but still comes over as a proper male, not some whimpering fool.

All in all, a nice drama free read, filled with sexy escapades. Told with dual POV and for now a standalone. The writing was enjoyable and fluid and I really think Ms. Jay should expand on this book. I would love to see Laci and Cole stretching their boundaries a little more. *wink wink*

If you're looking for hardcore femdom, you won't find it here. This story is a look into a couple exploring their sexual relationship. It contains BDSM elements, more so dominance & submission. With Laci on Top!

I'm not normally a lover of FemDomme stories, most I find are harsh, have sadistic and vindictive female characters I loathe, and the males can be so pathetic as masochistic subs.
So...how different and what a lovely surprise this was.

This is about Laci and her husband Cole, long time married, who find themselves with an empty nest when their son leaves for uni. Having experienced this time in my life, and so will many others who read this; it is usually a time when many marriages can and do hit the rocks...but not Laci and Cole. Laci begins to acknowledge her dominant side, her need for control and begins to explore and experiment on and with Cole. Cole is very much the man, but his love is for Laci and seeing her happy and in control he finds excites him sexually too, though at times with trepidation.

I love the fact you get both characters points of view. I also love this very real feel to the story and events therein. I can see this happening...and see many wishing they were as these two at play...though in whatever role suits each individual.

This story has realism, has humour, shows Laci a character who needs control, but also shows her underlying insecurities, shows courage and has ingenious ideas for sex play that many will probably want to try out variations on a theme for themselves, shows a couple who continue to develop their sex life and are not afraid to explore, saying yes, but equally can say no.

I enjoyed this debut novel by Donna Jay...and would be happy to read more of this couple, especially areas hinted at with prostate stimulation. Cole's response was so spot on (excuse the pun) for most males...until they try it!

Good four stars from me.

Well-written tale about an empty nest couple who try to add some spice to their love life. Usually, I have trouble with femdom stories because the power dynamic is so different than m/m d-s couples. (I guess I have trouble with all m/f d-s, but that's more than needs to be added here.) ANYWAY... with femdoms, it never comes across to me as a loving or caring thing, more of a 'I hate men' or 'make him pay' kinda vibe. All that is to say that this story was quite different and I could feel the love through the author's words and the characters' actions. Nicely done!

6 stars! This easily goes to my favorites shelf. I loved the dynamic of Laci and Cole as a older couple who now have an empty nest. The characters are very well developed and believable. There are stumbles as Laci tries to learn and develop her inner domme. And there are laughs along the way!
Great read...and can't wait to start on the second book.

What a great book!
Laci and Cole are a couple who have been married for 20 years and have a son who has just left for college. Now that they have the house to themselves again they have started to test the BDSM waters and become more adventurous sexually. It's nice to read a story about a normal couple who is just getting into D/s. I could easily relate to Laci and Cole and a few times while reading it i'd chuckle and think, "yep! that's me and hubby alright."

Even though this is Femdom, it's not a ball busting, hard ass bitch Femdom that's heavy with SM. In fact there is not SM in it, instead it's more Femdom with a focus on D/s. A very different take than most Femdom stories.

Ever wonder how to kick start your love life with your husband again? In Laci on Top, Ms. Jay presents to readers a very plausible way of how couples can add sexy heat back into their marriage. Laci and Cole are empty nesters who finally have time together again, away from an inquisitive child. Their sex life has not been dead, but just kind of there. When a little spanking humour sparks into a kinky foreplay for Laci and Cole, it opens up a whole new world for them.

Laci is a bossy female who enjoys putting males in their place at work. She carries this alpha persona at home when it comes to sex with her husband. The realism in Laci's thoughts and dialogue makes a reader think could be a friend they know or perhaps this is autobiographical. Laci is easy to understand. She is a man's world and she fights to be in the top dog position. Cole is more relaxed. He doesn't need to fight for his top dog position because it is naturally assumed at work based on his skills and the fact he owns his company. When looking at these two characters, it is easy to surmise why Laci behaves the way she does and why Cole enjoys it. It works for them.

The pace of this story is a bit slow. The writing style is easy to follow and almost explains a little too much. The lulls between the sex scenes are a little bit long which may give readers a feeling of dragging out the story. This does make sense because Laci is exploring so to have intense frequent sex scenes would be unrealistic. One way to quicken the pace is to condense the timeframe. By increasing the overall duration of time passing in the story, tightening the experimenting phase and then intensifying the sex scenes, it may give a reader more sexual tension. This would arouse the reader more. Frankly, this book is not arousing for me because of the lack in sexual tension.

From a kinky perspective, this is very light. This is the starter book recommended for readers who do not know much about femdom and think femdom is all about a dragon lady with stiletto heels, grinding a doormat male's balls into the ground. Whilst femdom could be that way, this book is not. This is about how kink can start and how lovers can explore their way into kinky through light touches, a couple of tools and some creative imagination. It is about tone, attitude and desire. For Laci and Cole, their roles in this story flip their switch and it is sweet to see. Recommended as a Gateway to Femdom book.

Laci on Top is about a long time married couple who discover that they realize that they haven't discovered everything there is to know about one another or themselves. Laci is a strong, confident woman who realizes that she a true dominant. She has always known that she likes things her way in and out of the bedroom, but she comes to realize that she wants to persue an actual D/s relationship with her alpha submissive husband, Cole when a chance conversation sparked an inner fire and a little confusion in both of them. Cole is the epitomy of an alpha male, taking care of his woman, owning his own business and says what is on his mind. As Laci and Cole embark on this new chapter in their lives, they hit some bumps (among other things) ;) and are discovering their own routine that works for their relationship.

I like that there isn't anything instant or perfect in this story or that everything is all figured out at the instant they make their decision to enter into a formal arrangement and that there are imperfections along the way, but the love in their relationship is real. This is a story that many couples face everyday and the story should be enjoyed for the realism. If you want fantastical and perfection, this story isn't for you and I would caution you to maybe pass it by, BUT if you want to maybe see what other people are seeing if they are peeking through your window, then this could be the story for you. :)

I would like to thank Donna Jay for allowing me an opportunity to read her story.

This story was fun, sexy and refreshing! It was fun because the two main characters don't take themselves too seriously and aren't afraid to add a bit of humor to their relationship. It is sexy because there are many very hot sex scenes. And it is refreshing because I can easily relate to this couple... not because of the D/s stuff, but because they are an older married couple who love each other enough to experiment to continue learning what turns each other on in order to keep their sex life interesting and fun. I look forward to many more wonderful stories from this new author.

Laci on Top is a debut novella that embodies the author’s vision of a femdom lifestyle that suits her sensibilities. Donna Jay’s story doesn’t include classic femdom conventions or stereotypes; it is a tale of a midlife couple undergoing a change of their sexual dynamic, which features the wife expanding her life-long dominating personality into the bedroom. Without question this scenario is probably more common than the fantasies depicted in most books in the F/m genre.

Unfortunately, this fairly realistic portrayal of organic femdom doesn’t translate to a particularly erotic book. In this case, truth is not stranger than fiction. It is kind of, well, ordinary actually, so much so that I found myself getting impatient waiting for something truly erotic to happen.

Presumably newbies and readers who share the author’s tastes will be satisfied with the quantity and intensity of the erotic content, but more jaded readers may find themselves occasionally stifling a yawn. To be fair, the final D/s scenario the couple engages in is relatively hot, but this doesn’t take place until shortly before the curtain drops.

Overall the writing is quite good, though in parts the exposition is somewhat prosaic. The characters are well developed, there is the ever appreciated beginning, middle and end, and everything about the story is believable. I would rate this book a 3; your mileage may vary.

There were so many things I enjoyed about Laci and Cole’s story. Working in a mostly male dominated industry for most of my life, I was able to connect with Laci instantly. Cole was sexy, funny, and I loved how he was down for (almost) everything Laci surprised him with.
While I’m definitely a fan of broody darkness and tormented characters, I didn’t miss that sort of angst one bit in this story. It had so many other wonderful emotional aspects to hold my interest in every chapter. It’s so refreshing to read about characters 30+, especially a warm loving couple like Laci & Cole. I loved how they weren’t billionaires or magazine models; just a real, normal couple looking to spice things up in their love life. I really enjoyed the witty banter between the two, and every sentence was smart and well thought out.
This new author has brought a wonderful story to the femdom world; one that's believable, sexy and heartwarming all at the same time. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to dip their toes into the lighter side of BDSM, a female-led relationship or just looking for a hot and steamy read that’s fun and different, and I look forward to reading more!

Great first story from a promising new author. This is a wonderful story of a burgeoning femdom relationship between a couple who are obviously very much in love. Now that they have an empty nest they feel free to indulge themselves in some slightly kinky love scenarios. Laci is definitely not submissive and so takes control, but Cole is man enough and trusts his wife enough to submit to her desires, knowing that she loves him enough to never want to actually hurt him. There's plenty of humour and hot sexy situations. Will be looking out for more stories from this author.

A lovely couple ease into female dominance/male submission. I loved the way they interacted, and there was a surprising scene at the end. There are hints that they will move on to edgier practices, so I'm looking forward to the sequel, "Cole Underneath."

To the guy who was quite clearly reading over my shoulder when I enlarged the cover of Laci on Top on my kindle today and who gave a very sharp intake of breath (then feigned innocence by fixedly staring at the ceiling), I should have recommended that he check out the trailer that accompanies this book here it is, I think it is super hot!

Whilst my taste in stories is generally a little on the edgier and more intense side, I really liked Laci on Top which is full of charm and insight about the eponymous Laci and her husband Cole. Having waved their son off to college, they take the opportunity to explore some of their kinkier fantasies with less risk of being caught in flagrante delicto.

This couple adore each other and have a loving and nurturing long-term relationship. Laci discovers that she really likes to take control and Cole (clearly an alpha male) has the strength and confidence to submit. He delights in the power dynamic that adds extra spice to their loving. Laci and Cole trust each other implicitly and have a playful rapport that helps communicate well with each other to ensures that both are enjoying their newly explored kink as it progresses from week to week.

What I particularly like is that the story avoids so many tropes of D/s, and fem dom in particular. The play enriches their sex life and relationship without ever crossing boundaries that one or other may not be comfortable with. The writing is skilful and informed, and neither partner appears weaker or stronger than the other. The D/s depicted never veers towards emotional or physical abuse that often seems portrayed in stories with themes of power exchange.

Laci on Top presents a positive approach to D/s without any formulaic ritual, instead the exchanges seem organic and full of fun and speculation and a deep understanding and appreciation of the other. The banter between the couple ensures that they encourage and support each other in their mutual exploration of kink.

This is a sweet exploration of life and love in middle age, and provides positive role models showing a couple who can confidently handle life's ups and downs. Plus it sends out all sorts of great messages that life is far from over just because the years roll past, and that there are all sorts of raunchy ways to keep a relationship interesting and evolving. Laci on Top is a celebration of life and love the pacing is realistic if possibly a little on the languid side. For those looking for the S&M part of BDSM, they won't find it in this story, in many respects this is a surprisingly gentle romance that is both uplifting and humourous.

Just in case you were wondering, I was checking out the cover to see if it is one of the scenes depicted in the book. I think not, so here's hoping it will be in the next one (gentle hint).

A good erotic fantasy works on multiple levels - physical, intellectual, and emotional. It's not always an even mix, and some kinds of fantasies tend to emphasize one over the others, but you really need to engage at least two to have a lasting impact on the reader.

With Laci on Top, Donna Jay relates a lovely story of sexual awakening, exploration, and satisfaction that achieves that perfect balance. Here we have the physical satisfaction of some erotic bondage and kinky sex; the intellectual engagement of a couple discovering where the lines of submission lay between then; and the emotional fulfillment of a romance accentuated and enhanced by a new found freedom to play.

I love the way Donna Jay eases her characters into the scene, allowing them to explore, to talk to one another, and to sort of find their way. Laci and Cole both know what role they want to play in the relationship, but their initial explorations are a bit awkward and even a little embarrassing. It's new, it's fresh, and it's extraordinarily exciting, but (more importantly) it's something that adds a new level to their relationship. The development of Laci's character is beautiful to behold, as Donna Jay takes her from shy and embarrassed to confident and bold. Once she understand the dynamics of the power exchange, she really settles into her role, pushing Cole, testing his limits, and enjoying every step of the way.

I loved that this wasn't just a clinical bit of role-playing and punishment, but an erotic evolution of a long-term romance. Laci on Top is a wonderfully positive first chapter in the lives of Laci and Cole, and I really look forward to seeing where they go next . . . especially if she follows through on her own fantasies about introducing hubby to the joys of pegging.

What an enjoyable read:) Finding themselves with an empty nest, Laci decides to ramp things up in the bedroom (and various other places), adding a bit of spice to what was already a pretty healthy sex life. Her husband of 20 years, Cole was more than happy to 'play' along. Laci is your average woman in her 40's. Although sexually experienced, she's quite new to the world of kink but keen to add that little extra zing to their relationship. There are plenty of laughs along the way as they start exploring what works for them with Laci taking on the more dominant role. Cole - well he's certainly enjoying Laci's innovative suggestions and ideas!

For the genre this story was rather sweet as, although Cole was happy for Laci to take control, it was all consensual and loving. With their son having just flown the family nest the couple were looking to bring something new into their lives and found what they wanted in more adventurous lovemaking.

Very well done.

This story follows an empty nest couple as they begin to explore female domination.

The writing is terrific, excellent character development, the scenes are well set, and there's just enough tension (mostly inner conflict as the characters learn about themselves and each other) to keep the story interesting. The erotic scenes are hot but not overdone.

Enjoyed this book very much. I mostly read lesbian fiction and really enjoyed other works of this author. So I thought: why not venture out to a m-f erotic story. Definitely not regretting it. The dynamics between two people who are married for 20 years is a good setting for this kind of play.

If you’re into light bdsm and a hot story this is your book. Don’t hesitate to buy it.

I really enjoyed this mature erotic story. I love how the characters aren't 20 somethings, but people that I can identify with! Erotic life doesn't end after 40; for some people like me it just gets started!!! Can't wait to read more of Donna's writing.

Laci on Top by Donna Jay is a delightful spin into a sexy lifestyle dynamic. A dynamic where the woman is in control and the man is strong enough to hand it over. I believe the author created two very relatable characters. There is lots of room for more! (HINT HINT)

We start out with Laci at work reminiscing about her son. The scene shows us the successful, caring, sentimental side. The next sequence shows us the strong, dominant, straightforward, I am the boss you idiot side. You know the co-worker or employee that you just want to….UGH!!
Cole is as fun loving as Laci. He is incredibly receptive to Laci’s desires with a willingness to explore her needs.

The book flows nicely and consistently develops Laci and Cole’s personality. I liked that the author brought up trust. Even though Laci and Cole have been married, raised a child and obviously love one another; a new trust is required. One that says, “Yes, you can tie me up, and blindfold me but don’t…” The “don’t” is never crossed.

In my opinion, Femdom leans toward callous bitches with thigh-high boots and antisocial personalities (unravel your hater panties, I get it). Laci is not this person, so don’t look for it. The witty banter and sexy romance puts you in the story. Read this story because it is you, it is your neighbor. Read it because you want to understand why a man would give control to a woman.
It truly is a refreshing look into LIFE with BDSM.

So, Donna Jay, you have a fan! I wish you all the best with your endeavors. I hope to see Laci and Cole again.

I received this book as a gift from the author, no strings attached, but I could not help but write a review for her.

Let me start out by saying this is the first book I have read THREE times before I wrote a review. Why? I was convinced I was missing something. No author I have read can create a story so well with characters so immediately identifiable that I was comfortable that quickly.

Laci and Cole are recent empty-nesters. He runs a business (this fact matters to the plot) and she runs an office of another business. A chance comment leads to their first experience with female domination, and the rest is just our story.

The characters are excellent. They are not those "perfect" people. He does not have the body of a Greek god and she is not built like a Barbie doll. They have misadventures (I love the sequence in the van), and they explore her power, his submission, and they negotiate their shared experiences.

What makes this far superior to most female-dominant stories is a point that the author herself makes. Most femme-domme is focused on sadism, on abuse. Cole and Laci love each other and they both want to strengthen their marriage and relationship. This is real female domination as I think it exists, and I am a HUGE fan of stories that are plausible.

Amazing story, go and get it. You will not be disappointed at all.

Ok, so I was fortunate to have read a good part of this story when it was in its infancy.... it has come a long way since then.

Ms Jay gives us a look at a real life couple, in their forties who are facing life with a now empty home after there son has moved on. You'll find no millionaires, or over the top beauties here, what you will find are two genuine, everyday people who love and trust one another and are looking to spice things up.

Laci has always been a tad "I'm in control" kind of girl, but not so much in the bedroom, now is her time to shine. The freedom of having the house to themselves, I think played a big part in how our couple, are able to open up to each other, with no worries of "being caught in the act".

This has very light bondage, and from the title you will gather, Laci taking charge. It would be a great "beginner" book for those wanting a gateway into heavier Domme/sub, Femdom reading, as these two are just feeling their way as well.

All in all, a really good enjoyable read that wasn't dragged out, and had a bit of down under humor to lighten it all up.
A very professional job for a first release book.

Set in New Zealand, Cole and Laci are empty nesters, their only son Blake having recently left the family home to go to university, which gives them a little more time and opportunity to explore new things together. Laci has suddenly become more interested in being the dominant one and taking the lead role in the bedroom and she discovers a new side to herself which she and her husband both enjoy. It is clear that Cole and Laci are deeply in love with each other and have a special bond born out of their love and from being married for twenty years. This was an enjoyable read without ever being particularly taxing for the reader, it showed great promise at the beginning but it never quite reached the heights that I was hoping for. The description of the sex scenes was pretty good but sadly lacked any real tension or excitement. This is the authors first attempt at writing and she should be commended for having a go and I hope that she will not give up as she clearly has a talent that should be nurtured.

I'm stopping at 60%

The story is well-written and edited, but I had trouble connecting with the main character. Laci's relationship with her husband is lovely and their smexy scenes are interesting and realistic. Unfortunately, the story felt a little detached to me, as if looking at them from an outside window instead of been closed by.

The author did a great job portraying a middle-age couple and a long lasting marriage. They can be your next door neighbor, or even yourself.

If I had to rate it up to this point, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5.

I'm looking forward to the author's next book release.
