When bank teller Rose Ryan accidentally uncovers a shocking discrepancy in bank finances, she goes to the police, who immediately call in the FBI. From that day forward, she meets at a coffee shop each morning with two FBI agents to report her observed embezzling activity and receive further instructions. Rose continues to collect evidence of the illegal activity at the bank, right under the noses of the criminals, but for her own safety and that of her family, she is warned to “tell no one, not even your husband.” Until now . . .
This short little story was unbelievable! Bank teller Rose was such a strong woman. She worked with the FBI to uncover some shady business at her bank. And for her safety and that of her family she couldn’t tell anyone! Rose is my hero and she did the right thing! I also learned a lot about the banking business. Thanks Erina for sending me this interesting book!
What would you do if you were to find irregularities while balancing out accounts at the bank you work for? Well for Rose Ryan, she went to the police who ended up passing the information over to the FBI. Next thing Rose knows she’s having breakfast with the FBI the very next morning. The FBI recruits Rose to work undercover for them and collect information on an embezzling scheme that ends up being much more dangerous and more wide spread than you can imagine.
Knowing that this story was based off true events makes this story even more impressive. Rose is a true hero! If you believe in integrity, doing a job to the best of your ability and honesty, then this is definitely the story for you.
Erina Bridget Ring has written a wonderful story that will keep you engaged. It’s a short story and able to be read in one setting.
I truly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more of Erina’s books.
A fast paced read. Very interesting what Rose went through. I don’t know if I would have been that brave and not be able to confide to your family what was going on.
This was a fun, quick read, my anxiety in full force at times, and I found myself absorbed Rose’s emotions to the point I wanted to hug her and tell her it would be ok. I can’t imagine being in this type of situation.
I was intrigued at the knowledge of banking procedures, and how little the FBI was willing to tell their main witness at their meetings. It was interesting to say the least, and I had my doubts that the two agents might actually be involved!! I’m certainly glad I was wrong, but it was an interesting twist that the author could portray this that way.
Ms. Ring is gifted in the area of characterization. Again, I was moved by the emotional impact Rose had on me. I would have liked to see a bit more of this excellent characterization technique with Joel, but he was a sleaze bag, so nothing more to see here. Ha! I loved how the author brought the secondary characters to life. Many authors forget this important element.
I enjoyed this story, and look forward to more of Ms. Ring’s work. Well done.
This was the first book I read by Erina Bridget Ring and was not disappointed. From the first sentence to the last it kept me on the edge of my seat. Could not imagine living this lie everyday. Keeping secrets from my husband is not an option for me so I do not know what I would of done in this case. I could not put it down and finished it in one day. Will definitely read all of Erina's other books.
I didn't love this book that much. It felt kind of fake, and the writing was lackluster. The things Rose said felt really repetitive and I was bored. There wasn't a real struggle or climax, things just happened.
The amount of typos in this book was weird, too. Sorry to be the grammar police!
While I've had the same comment said to me, "oh, you work in a bank" as if it's a bad thing. You can not make up these stories that can only happen at a bank. This was a fantastic read from the first page to the last. Rose did the right thing. I could not imagine what I would have done in Rose's position. Working in a bank can be stressful enough without having to work with the FBI. Way to go Rose.
What a great story. Could you imagine working in a bank and finding all sorts of discrepancies; missing money, daily deposits just lying around in a burlap bag, bank president having affairs with one, two, no wait, three employees ! This was a fun read. Stressful that’s for sure, security cameras being dismantled wily nily. What the heck is going in and why is the FBI interested?
Oh wow! That was intense! I’d be scared too and I felt it with her writing! A page turner! I believe she did the right thing. That did take a lot of courage and bravery!
What a great story!!! I was so engrossed in this story that I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. I learned what a bank teller does all day. The stress Rose goes through is immense. Being a witness to stealing going on at her bank and then having to deal constantly with the criminals and the FBI. I highly recommend this book and author.
Excellent book, and kept my interest throughout. Rose's character is compelling and believable, and makes us realize that this could happen to any one of us. There is never a dull moment in her life, and that makes it exciting for the reader. Looking forward to more books by this author.
Good God she is at it again! Ms. Ring is on fire with her latest book. I did not put this book down from start to finish. The story is riveting and the storytelling masterful. There is a great author in our midst! I anxiously await the next book. Hope it is in the works...
Rose a bank teller gets the shock of her life...breakfast with the FBI!!! This story unfolds as Rose becomes an informant for the FBI. Very good read and your heart will go out to Rose. I could not put down until I knew what happened!
I really enjoyed this book. for many reasons one of which is that its a true story , and also because two of my daughters were in the banking field. I also love the author and can't wait to read more of her works.
I loved this little short book about Rosie dealing with banks and the FBI. She did the right thing but it was nerve wrecking to go through the daily routines.
Happy Tuesday, Book Dragons..I apologize for the lateness of the hour, but I only received this Gem today and finished it today because I wanted so very much to share it with you today. This Gem is perfectly cut, every carat sharp and clear, it's radiant brilliance shines a blazing, blinding white that only comes of honesty, courage and hard won bravery - especially when the person would rather not, but is driven by a deep seated belief in justice, truth and integrity. These attributes describe to a T Erina Bridget Ring's heroine in Breakfast with the FBI. This book is based on a true account. Rose is an upper middle class wife and mother. She loves her husband, her two teenage children and her life, but she would like a little something more and so she obtains employment at a local bank. She loves it. She loves crunching the numbers, greeting her customers, learning new things and she's a quick study. She's settled, has a good work ethic and comes to work on time each day looking like the professional she wants to be. Her attitude is can-do and her body language says that. One day after keeping her head during a bank robbery, Rose has duly impressed her employers. They decide to give her even more responsibility and tell her she will begin being trained to learn even more intricate, secure issues such as processing loans and large accounts. She goes home thrilled that she is finally on the path to real success. Her dream is to be a Branch Manager. The next morning when she steps into work, she has to hit the ground running when she meets an unexpected change of plans. She is sent to a small bank branch on the other side of town, due to an employee being fired. Rose and her can-do attitude dutifully arrive at the branch. She realizes right away that things are very different from the main branch where she has been working. The place is not tightly ran. The manager is sloppy and doesn't really seem to care. And then less than 24 hours later, she spots a huge error. A $100,000 error, which the manager shrugs off. Rose cannot shrug it off. And this eventually leads her to the police and in turn to sitting in a small bakery having "Breakfast with the FBI". Rose leaves with more than her usual cup of breakfast coffee, she leaves as an FBI Informant. I loved this book. It is fast paced, a page turner that kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the relationship Rose has with her husband and her children. There are no snarky spousal jokes, no snotty brat teens. Her co-workers were a mix of the good, the bad and the annoying - like most offices. The FBI agents were not full of bravado and bad language, but were hard working and honest. And Rose, herself, is real. She isn't some cardboard heroine. She is human. She gets nervous, worries about her family's safety, her own safety. She struggles with the ethics of what she must do. I read this in an evening because I couldn't put it down. Blessed be the Mate who refills the tea mug of the Book Dragon, eh? This book is for sale on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other fine book sellers, get it today. Erina Bridget Ring and several other books out there, I strongly encourage you to start with this one and don't stop there. Until tomorrow, I remain, your humble Book Dragon, Drakon T. Longwitton I received this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
I recently read Ms. Ring's latest book, THE NEIGHBORHOOD, and thoroughly enjoyed it. After connecting on Facebook, she told me about her previous books and a little bit about them. With that, she sent me a signed copy of KNIT 2, PURL 2, KILL 2, which I have yet to read and I purchased BREAKFAST WITH THE FBI because I was intrigued due to what she told me about how this book came to be via a real-life experience.
Rose Ryan embodies what an all-around good person should be. Her family came first, believed in honesty, knew the difference between right and wrong and was active in her community. After being a stay at home Mom until her 2 children were in High School, she went back to work as a bank teller. She loved her job and was held in high esteem by those that went to the bank. Her work ethics was extraordinary and didn't go unnoticed when she received a promotion and was transferred to another branch.
The first day there, while closing up, she noticed an exorbitant amount of money was missing. She went straight to the President of the bank to inform him of the error. She had done right, at least she thought she did until she overheard the president on the phone telling someone that "Rose was on to them".
Driving home she knew she could not let this matter go. After much thought, she pulled into the Police Parking Lot and gave a statement. Thinking that an investigation would ensue, she felt that she had done her job. However, due to the amount of money, the police told her that the FBI would need to be brought into it. And from there, her life turned upside down.
She was now an informant for the FBI. She wasn't allowed to tell her husband, children, no one!!! She was followed, as were her family. Things got worse when she realized that the new Branch Manager carried a gun and was part of the embezzlement circle of employees.
I could feel Rose's tension, worry and anxiety, not only while she was at work but having to lie to her family to keep them safe. And throughout the read, I kept asking myself what would I have done. The storyline was fluid. There are some surprises as to the outcome of this story and the when and how Rose finally told her story.
This story did resonate with and trigger my own memories of a somewhat similar experience that occurred with my family when I was young and my parents were approached to help the state troopers to be part of a sting. It lasted for 8+ months where we were followed and not allowed to say anything to anyone!
Book Review: Breakfast with the FBI by author, Erina Bridget Ring
One woman finds herself thrown in the midst of a threatening situation, and one not of her own doing.
Based on a true story, Rose Ryan stumbles headfirst into the middle of an intense embezzlement scheme involving co-workers, upper management, with a long list of others and finds herself scared, alone, and not knowing which way to turn.
In one fell swoop she finds herself with a title she never dreamed would become a part of her quiet, yet career and family oriented lifestyle...the title of- FBI Informant.
Left with no choice, Rose is forced to hide the truths surrounding her secretive mission from the ones she loves the most, her family and closest of friends. With a whirlwind of anxiety, trying to comprehend the unimaginable, and full with fear, Rose is driven deeper into the rabbit hole of despair.
Ms. Ring has given new meaning to the phrase "life can change in an instant," whether it be with a blink of an eye, a snap of the finger, or in this case, the totalling of a Bank Tellers receipt that screams, TROUBLE!
Breakfast with the FBI is a quick but intensive narrative. One that both entertains and has you on the edge of your seat as to its boldness while you follow the very personal account of one woman's emotional journey. This book takes on a life all its own with its intriguing characters, it's chilling yet emotional storyline, and is obvious to its reader- one that is written with heart.
I thank author, Erina Bridget Ring for my personal copy of Breakfast with the FBI, a story I highly recommend and one I enjoyed reviewing.
Oh. My. Gosh! Knowing this book was written from real life events had me holding my breath in so many parts. This is the story of Rose Ryan and her position as a bank teller. She uncovers some suspicious activity concerning missing money from the bank. She knows that something is terribly wrong and has to do something about it. This book takes the reader on the crazy ride of going "undercover" with the FBI to expose the embezzlement scheme. I felt like I was going through the anxieties, worries, and fears with Rose as she had to keep from revealing her knowledge of what was going on in the bank. PLUS, she was told to not "say a word" to anyone. At all. How hard to go through so much and not be able to talk about it. Sometimes it felt like it wasn't worth the stress and fear but to protect herself and her family, she did what it took. This is a fast read but so worth it. It's intense and kept me wanting to know how this whole ordeal was going to be resolved. It is a great read and I enjoyed it very much. The integrity that Rose presented is highly admirable....she endured so much. Yes, Rose did the right thing! This is the second book of Ms. Ring's that I've read and I can't wait to read another one! Thank you, Erina Bridget Ring, for the copy of your book. I am so honored to have read it and I am a BIG fan of yours! A five star read...and I admire you for what you went through and that you are finally able to share that with us.
What a page turner! I was sucked in from the beginning! I couldn’t possibly imagine what Rose went through. I will say she was not only a smart woman, but she was incredibly brave the whole book. She also went through a traumatizing event as well as something good happening that could possibly stop her from working for good. Wait til you find out. Keeping things that happened at the bank from her family was definitely incredibly hard. I felt for her.
The story began after 17 years of Rose not working. Her and her coworkers were held at gunpoint. She was definitely very cool, calm and collected until help arrived. It seems like things from there only got worse. Rose overheard a conversation she shouldn’t have and went to the police who got the FBI involved. Money went missing, a certain coworker and his brother were creepy in my opinion, and Rose met with Scott and Sara-FBI agents quite frequently for breakfast before work to go over any findings. Rose was great at getting evidence. The question is, will they ever stop the ongoing money missing and take down the appropriate people? Will Rose ever be able to tell her family has going on? Wait til you find out what happens in the end!
The very title Breakfast With The FBI is so interesting that one will want to pick up a copy of this book. It is a true story based on real life events. It’s a fast paced and easy read which was hard to put down. I do not know what I would have done if I was in the main character Rose’s shoes. To keep a secret for that long would have eaten me from inside. The events that unfolded about the wrong doings inside the bank and to keep a secret until the case was solved must have been so hard on Rose. In my eyes she is a super woman who was strong and resilient and did everything to protect her loved ones and help the FBI. I learned so many things as to how banks work and function in ways I didn’t know earlier. One thing is for sure after reading this book I will look at banks very differently every time I step my foot in one. Thank you Erina Bridget Ring for your book which I read in two sittings. You know how to tell a story and capture’s the readers attention. I am looking forward to reading more books by you.
Bank teller Rose Ryan starts noticing numbers being off, deposits not registered and the bank drawers not coming out correctly. Customers start coming in with missing deposits and money missing from their accounts. Rose goes to the police with this information and the police immediately contact the FBI. Rose suddenly finds herself in the middle of the FBI's investigation of the bank employees and is told she cannot let anyone know including her husband and children to keep them out of danger. She meets with the FBI on mornings at the local coffee shop and soon has undercover agents following her and her family everywhere they go. Rose lives in fear for months while the investigation is going on, scared the ones involved in the bank fraud will hurt her and her family. She takes some time off and takes a trip to Paris with her husband Jim. An undercover agent goes with them with Jim unaware. When Rose gets back to work, she finds out several employees are gone and there is more information discovered on the ones that are still there. The story is based on true life events and the day-to-day accounts are fascinating. Will keep you intrigued and scared for Rose. This is a must read, is captivating from beginning to end.
A true story. A story that will captivate you from the beginning and leave you wanting to know more. Rose Ryan went to work at a bank, after being a stay at home Mom for 17 years. She had high hopes for a fulfilling career. She was smart and very observant to details. The first day was the beginning of a nightmare that has stayed with her for years. From a robbery and onward to even more frightening experiences involving guns, embezzlement, drugs and missing people. Erina Bridget Ring describes exciting, scary, sad experiences that no one should have to endure at work. And it didn't stop for her when she went home - because the FBI was involved - and she couldn't tell her husband what was going on at work. The anxiety, bad dreams, keeping secrets from her family caused health problems - something very devastating happens that you will have to read about. A story of a strong, courageous woman, that would go to great lengths to protect her family. I recommend highly!
This is a great book filled with many twists and turns. It will grab at you emotionally. The storyline is so interesting it maintains your interest. The characters are believable and likable. So you have Rose Ryan working in a small town, married, first day on the job. Now Rose discovers a huge monetary discrepancy at the bank. She tells the main branch manager but feels she is blown off so goes to the police. They call in the FBI. She is to have Breakfast with the FBI in the morning to discuss events and set a plan on motion. The main problem is she cannot tell anyone, not even her husband. This story is based off true events and you will be on the edge of your seat. For Rose to be able to have a normal family life and not be able to share all the events with her husband is truly amazing. You won't want to put this book down. I highly recommend this book.
If you want to learn the process of working in a bank, this story will definitely enlighten you. Rose Ryan goes to work in a bank, is a quick learner and progresses very fast. Can you imagine seeing shady things going on where you work knowing you need to do something about it. It took a lot of guts for Rose to go to the police with her suspicions. Before she knows it, she is having breakfast with the FBI. She has uncovered the biggest embezzling scheme and becomes an FBI informant. We all like to discuss our work days with our significant other and Rose could never divulge anything that was happening. She and her family were in danger and she was scared to death. You will have to red this book to see what happens to all the bad people. This was an easy book to read and definitely held your interest. Appreciate the author giving me a copy to read.
What would you do? Rose had been a stay at home mom, but decided to go back to work since her children are now teenagers. She loved her job at the bank and was learning more and was given more responsibility. When she is sent to another branch, things change when she noticed a large sum of money missing. What should she do? She reports it, but immediately overhears something that makes her suspicious. Next step, police, they immediately get the FBI involved. Rose finds herself in the middle of a huge investigation that puts her and her family in danger. She has to keep quiet and can’t even tell her husband. Can she trust anyone at the bank, can she trust the FBI? Will Rose be the one accused, when she knows she is innocent? This story will definitely have you guessing . Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we practice to deceive
This book was as normal followed Erina Bridget Ring's written style completely. I had every intention of reading just a little bit on Saturday evening. Nope!! I sat up and completed the whole thing! It was funny, dramatic and kept me on the edge of my seat from the first page. Unbelievable how this mother and wife got caught up in a scandal by just talking to the police about her suspicions. No spoilers. You definitely need to read this story as it sucks you in to workings of the FBI and how they can vague. They expect you to keep your involvement completely secret from everyone, especially your family. Pick this book up for a fun read. You won't be sorry. Thank you #ErinaBridgitRing. You are a beautiful treasure.
This book kept me going! The author’s story telling is much like visiting with a friend who is recounting one of the most terrifying times of her adult life! There are a couple of plot twists and turns that come as a surprise in the story. This is not one for kids, but adults will find it entertaining and yet since it is based on true accounts, it will leave the reader shaking their head wondering how such things can take place in broad daylight. It is the tale of one brave woman who faced threatening events and yet she was compelled to do the right thing. It is a short read so if you are looking for something read while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea over a short time period, this one will work. If you aren’t familiar with the author, look her up and connect. You won’t be sorry!
