Girl was 25 but acted like a lovesick 15 yr old. If I read "Oh my" again, I was going to vomit. The guy was basically using the fact that she loved him to get her pregnant, convinced he'd never love her back and that the pregnancy would most likely kill her. Uhh no thanx.

I tried. I came back and I tried. But nope I cannot do it. I feel silly reading this book. The writing feels very immature and it's an adult fantasy. I just can't get on board with it.

Winter's Bride is a nice if rather predictable story set in a fantasy world where four beings known as the Elders live and govern the seasons. Most of the human population thinks they're gods but the truth is a bit different.

One of the town girls has loved the Winter Lord her entire life but since the Elders are gods, her love must be wrong. A chance meeting with him and a misunderstanding later, Dawn, our MC, finds herself the focus of his courtship.

This is a story of self discovery, of learning that the world is not always as it seems. A story that shows that even after living for thousands of years life can still surprise you. All in all, it's a good way to spend a few hours. My main problems with it, part from the predictability, were the repetitions and the need for a better editing. Every time Dawn and Audren have sex, one particular sentence creeps in. Every single time. It's grating and the reason why I knocked a star from the rating. Still for a first book in a series this is pretty good and I'm curious enough to check out the sequel.

I really enjoyed this one, I love happy endings and a book full of romance !

"I was sent an E-Copy directly from the author; this has in no way affected my review or its content."

This is an adult fantasy romance, winter’s Bride book one in The Elders of the Seasons series.

Moving on, I was warned by the author, and it’s my turn to warn you that this is in fact a hot steamy romance, but in my opinion it wasn’t that explicit, instead (intimate interaction aside) I found it really cute .
Dawn is a very honest character, her innocence is shown from the very first page so you can’t get annoyed by her decision nor her feeling (yes they are a bit over the top but still understandable) but it’s clear she’s not dumb but ruled by her feelings for the big bad lord. Still adorable.

The most intriguing and confusing character in this book was the Autumn lord, I can’t decide if his action/ thinking is sane or if he was faking it. Like, WHAT ? (O.o)
He seems to understand but doesn’t act on it or do it in a complete unlogical dumbest way possible…. (but *whispers* he’s hot, and has the attitude so I want to know more) the guy is difinitly something and I’m glad his story is next. It’s going to be better than this one I can tell.

The story had a steady pace, nothing was rushed but was presented event after another, there isn’t much to the story but you still get attached to these characters. it was beautifully written that even if you see it coming it still hurts, like really bad, It got my heart aching for a couple of chapters and some others got it to almost to burst from happiness.

That’s how a good written romance can affect you and this one definitely did me!

Winter's Bride Was A Heartfelt Okay

It didn't grab my heartstrings and pull. I almost put it on my DNF pile due to the overwhelming, very immediate love the main character held for the Elder. It made me sad, because I needed an emotionally good story. Getting a kindle, I wanted to love Amazon ebooks.

I am not going to say I hated this story. It irked me that, though the Elder was a Winter being and was Logic, he couldn't associate the feeling with what he felt for the girl. I am going to end with, it was a happy and light story. I would not recommend to people who want a good, deep romantic and believable story.

"Her heart was set on him, and her love was so powerful that she was unable to fall in love with someone else. He knew what awaited her if he let her go. She would go on with her life, but she would remain alone and sad for as long as she lived."

Winter's Bride by Nellie C. Lind is now one of my all time favorite books! I can't even begin to describe how unique and exciting this story was! The characters were all super awesome and I have never read another book that was close to this one. This story is completely different than anything else you have ever read. It is very refreshing!

In this book you meet a young woman named Dawn. She lives at home with her family, and has currently turned down multiple offers of marriage because she is in love with an elder, the Winter Lord. In Dawn's world there is a lord or lady for each season: summer, spring, winter, and fall. These lords are known as the elders, and they are here to help the world. The Winter Lord receives terrible news and due to drastic life changes, he now needs to find a wife. One day, the Winter Lord had spots Dawn, and is completely intrigued by her. He then realizes how much Dawn loves him, and how long she has been in love with him. This changes everything for Dawn. The Winter Lord now wants her. The Winter Lord will ask for her hand in marriage. There is something odd about the Winter Lord though. Why does he want Dawn all of a sudden? He doesn't love her. Why is her love and devotion so important to someone who doesn't love her in return? What is he hiding?

"He is a winter being, Dawn. It's not in his nature to be emotional, but you have done something to him, and from where I'm standing, it seems to be for the better."

The elders have many secrets and ceremonies that Dawn does not know about. Passing by a room one day, Dawn learns about a secret that the Winter Lord has been keeping from her. This secret is about her. This secret means life or death. Once Dawn discovers this, everything changes. Can the Winter Lord and Dawn survive this? Will their relationship get past this? All Dawn knows, is that she can not get pregnant. And then it happens. She is pregnant. Can the Winter Lord save her? Can the Winter Lord love her?

The Winter's Bride is so well written. I love every minute of this book. I stayed up until 5 am in the morning because I could not go to sleep until I finished this AMAZING story. This book is full of heart break, love, magic, friendship, secrets, royalty, jealousy, and loyalty! Once again, I have never read anything like this before, and I am in awe. I can not believe how good this book was and I will talk about this book forever! It is all I can think about at the moment. The second book, will not come soon enough. Nellie C. Lind's words were perfectly chosen. Her words flowed flawlessly into my mind and played through it, like I was watching it happen, right before my eyes. I can honestly say that everyone needs to read this book!

"No, you're perfect."

This book surprised me a little I think. I caught all the mixed reviews and was setting myself up I think to not like it but It really was pretty good. It was a little fast paced romantically but it made sense to me. My version did not seem to have the grammatical problems others experienced, but then again I may just not have noticed. Grammar police I am most definitely not. I found the whole story interesting, and the romance made me smile at times.

I felt that our characters were pretty fleshed out. Dawn, our FMC, has been in love with the winter lord forever, knowing that nothing would ever come of it, and trying to move past her love for him, but never really able to let it go. Then, in a chance meeting, he notices her and they speak. It turns out Audren is out looking for a wife, as the Summer Lady does not have much time left and all the Elders (Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring) are all trapped in this never ending cycle of birth and death while they attempt to balance out this world. When Audren meets and reads Dawn he sees in her mind her years of love for him and her yearning for something she thinks cannot be and instantly decides that he wants that love, something he has never experienced for himself or from another, but there is a dark truth behind taking a bride to birth the next elder.

I really enjoyed it. The backstory of our Elders is given slowly in small increments so not to feel like a lecture and in all honesty this seemed more like an "Alien" novel to me. It was quite interesting the concept itself and I wouldn't mind reading more for sure. All in all it was really just a sweet romance in a mushy way that had me smiling here and there!

Yikes. At first, I thought this was going to be a really cute, cozy, but trashy book. It ended up just being trash. The amount of typos, grammatical errors, etc, along with the one-dimensional characters and stupid storyline...yikes.

Meh. Dawn was in love with Winter, and Lord Winter was just pure trash. Dawn was supposed to be 25, but acted like she was maybe 15… I disliked both of them, I had hoped for fluffy, adorable and cute romance – but honestly it was just meh.

I have to be honest. I wasn't sure I was going to like this. There were mixed reviews. I didnt read it right away after I bought it. Nobody hated it or anything but they mentioned a few things in their reviews that made me think I MIGHT not like it. Great reviews on Amazon but Goodreads there was one or 2 that made me pause before reading. However, my curiosity won over.

When you first get into it there is a lot of confusion with how these Lady's and Lord's work with how they are born etc. I was really confused at first but as I got through the book my understanding became much clearer. We have Dawn who is pretty much like a commoner in Evermore which is a village outside of the castle ruled by Audren, The Winter Lord, Aura, The Summer Lady, Onyx, The Autumn Lord , and Seva, The Lady of Spring. They are elders all from different realms in the world chosen to come to this world to rule and change things. They are seen as Gods but they are not. They all have unique powers.

Aura is dying and needs a new body. It is time for The Winter Lord to seek a new bride and produce an heir. He sees Dawn in Evermore one day and is drawn to her. He speaks with her and is enchanted with her. She's had a thing for him for a long time. She's very shy and innocent and naive with the way of the world. She understands things but she was brought up a certain way and a certain way to act. She has always known nothing could come of her love with The Winter Lord. Until a minor disagreement she finds herself in the Castle's prison. After coming to her and reading her mind to figure out what happened with the incident he finds out how much she loves him and this surprises him and makes him happy and he chooses to ask her to be his bride. The Winter Lord is a cold man...not mean but cold with feelings...he doesnt believe he has any. He cares for Dawn and wants to take care of her and give her everything but will never love her. She is smart enough to realize this. This book is their journey to finding each other and her and the other Lady's and Lord's convincing The Winter Lord that what he feels is love. Every time a bride becomes pregnant by The Winter Lord or The Autumn Lord the bride has always died because the soul of the baby is too much for her to handle. So, Dawn's life hangs in the balance. They all keep this from her. He play acts his feelings for her throughout the whole thing. She does eventually find out all the lies and is devastated and heartbroken. They all kept it from her. My heart broke for her. I can understand why Audren and Onyx keep their feelings hidden. They have to lose their brides each and every time. They are thousands of years old. So, I understand why they seem so cold with feelings. I mean Onyx is a gigolo pretty much ha. He has all kinds of fun with women. Then again they should be honest as well with their brides. I do think Onyx is but Audren this time around not so much but its different this time because Dawn loves him unconditionally. Question is does Audren pull through and admit his feelings for her? Does he even know what he is feeling is love? Hmm...guess you gotta read it! I really enjoyed the book. I loved the character development of all these characters. We know a little of each one. I intend to read the next story in the series about Onyx The Autumn Lord.

I have to say two negative things. I took issue with Dawn's character and the thing with her mom. She just seemed to be a weak character and lacked confidence and drive to do things. She was just too timid. There were times I found it irritating. You would think she'd be more comfortable with things as time went on. Her shyness was overrated also. I didn't understand why her mother was the way she was. I didnt get it. Was it just because she wanted to control Dawn and everything around her? I dont know and it wasnt really mentioned much. So, just the fact that Dawn's character was too weak and the confusion with Dawn's mom were my only issues.

DISCLAIMER: EVEN THOUGH THIS BOOK WAS SENT TO ME BY THE AUTHOR FOR REVIEW, MY OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK WAS NOT IN ANY WAY BIASED OR MANIPULATED.

CHARACTERS. At first, there is a lot of confusion. How were the Ladies and Lords born and other things. We have the main character named Dawn who is like a non-royal commoner in Evermore. We also have the elders who seem like gods but I guess they aren't, they are Audren, The Winter Lord, Aura, The Summer Lady, Onyx, The Autumn Lord , and Seva, The Lady of Spring. They're all from different realms chosen to come to this world to rule and change things. They all have super cool powers. I had some issues with Dawn's character and the thing with her mom. She just seemed to be a weak character and lacked confidence and drive to do things. She was just too timid and shy. There were times I found it annoying. This book needed more character development.

PLOT/WORLD-BUILDING. At first, I was too fascinated to even care where the four elders came from but it would have been nice to have a little background from the start. That would have cleared out any future confusions. It was interesting and refreshing to read something new. I felt there could have been so much more to this book if the author would take the time to polish the world she created and maybe create more perspective for each character so the readers will be able to connect more. But I do want to live in Evermore. It seems like a fantastic place. Again, more development is needed.

WRITING STYLE. No two authors have the same writing style. This style somehow appeals to teenagers rather than adults because of the language and words chosen. It doesn't seem like a sci-fi fantasy read, the author blends it all so wonderfully together. This was a fantastic love story and the way the characters and the setting was very engaging but again more development.

FINAL VERDICT. It's a decent read. A good sci-fi fantasy love story is definitely hard to pull off. But this book could actually do it if only the author took more time to develop and plan everything out. This book could have been the best of it's kind! (yes, I didn't talk about the erotic scenes because we're trying to keep this PG lol but yeah those scenes were hot and steamy with a gentleness that I don't understand)

My Thoughts
Winter's Bride is the first book in an adult paranormal romance series, called the Elders of the Seasons. The first book follows the winter lord. I loved the concept behind the Elders of the Seasons. There are four elders that rule the land. Each one of them gets to take a turn to rule, during...you guessed it, their season. The other piece to the story that I really loved was that the Elders all lived together in this one city. It was a tiny town because while the elders were not mean per se they were pretty scary to a lot of people, so there are not too many people that move to live closer to them, but the people that do live there have a pretty good life.

Winter's Bride follows the story of Dawn, a young woman in this small town and the Winter Lord. The Winter Lord has never had any interest in marrying, until a string of events surrounding one of the other elders has forced him into taking a bride. And then he meets Dawn....What was actually really sweet was that Dawn has had a crush/ infatuation with the Winter Lord for as long as she can remember. I liked the interaction between the Winter Lord and Dawn, and I really liked the concept and the storyline.

My only issue with Winter's Bride was that Dawn sometimes seemed like a lost little girl. She was a bit naiive, which didn't fit in the situations she found herself in. Some of the scenes were a bit over the top as well. The Winter Lord was hard to get a read on as well. I would have liked to see a bit more inside his head to get a better idea of what he was thinking and truly feeling. But the pull of the elders kept me more than enough interested in the storyline. I can't wait to see where Nellie C. Lind is going to take it next.

2.5 ☆☆

This book sounded sooo good. I wanted to love it. My expectations were too high, I think.
Winter's bride was a good read. The author has a very creative mind and the plot was original.
My only big complaint, was how naive Dawn is. I understand that she has to be to some degree. It just felt like she was an idiot.
Anyways, if you enjoy a good erotic fantasy story, this was a good book to try. This book gets three glittery stars for being a good read, just not a fantastic one.

Interesting fantasy

This was a totally different concept, to me anyway. Elders who are really aliens trying to teach a world the way to enlightenment. And their ideas are so different, but it seems the new world has something to teach them! Different reading!

Dawn has always loved the Winter Lord, Audren... she ends up in prison, and the next thing you know they're getting married. It's a whril-wind romance with no strings attached-- right? Wrong. I'll let the reader read the book if they want to know more.

I had difficulty taking this book seriously... when you introduce your main character, Dawn, with this:
Dawn turned away from the dishes, drying her hands on a towel, and glanced at her mother. Her hands were sore from all the housework, but she didn’t complain.

... I broke down laughing for about an hour. I couldn't read more. I actually contemplated putting the novel down for a bit, made a Facebook post... and then, once the amusement settled, I picked it up again... and the story actually improved. A little.

If you don't understand why such hilarity ensued, it could be your age-- for someone my age, I was irritated that Dawn's hands were so sore given that she probably used Dawn dish soap to clean then and it's supposed to break the grease apart and be gentle on your hands. Call me crazy, but there were about 100 different ways to introduce a character named Dawn... but we went with the only one that correlates with a dish soap. You just can't make this up.

In terms of world-building, this book had quite the interesting "alien" concept to it... and from a morality standpoint, it was a little disconcerting. Kinda. I think the author attempted to dull the moral dilemma by making the bodies being snatched not have souls... but... ah... yeah. The different characters of the four Elders were distinct and fun. I felt like the author did a good job developing the characters and making them consistent throughout the book.

One thing I have huge issues about in all media that I read or watch-- that's babies as main plot points to a book. In this book, it was all about making babies. Sex, sex, sex and more sex. Now, mind you, the story actually had interesting twists and turns. The meet cute, for example was engaging for me as a reader-- albeit a bit "stalker-y". Plus the whole timing of being pregnant and all the different trope pregnancy things. Blegh. This just wasn't what I had bargained for in a paranormal romance... though, I have to say for being so full of sex there was still enough of a plot to make the book semi-interesting. I still felt like the main plot should be described on the back of the book as "Girl wants to have copious amounts of sex and get pregnant"... but, that's how I'd honestly describe this book.

Lots of spelling errors, grammar errors, and errors of omission... not terribly distracting, but it indicated something that was self-published because of the number of errors. It didn't impact the flow.

It was a cute story. The execution was done well, but the book needed a little more polish. It also wrapped up the story well, but left a few teasers for the next book. Not a cliff-hanger, but certainly leaves more for the reader to look forward to reading if they liked this installment.

To the author-- Get an editor. Keep writing. Maybe less sex and more plot?... unless, of course, that's your jam... then... I guess keep it as it is... ? *shrug*

Thanks for the read.

This fantasy romance is like ice cream: It's sweet and yummy, but go too fast and you'll be in pain. It made me cry a bit, so I might have a box (or two) of tissues ready for the next time I read it. It took me a while to get into it, but around thirty percent, I was sucked in to the world of the Elders of the Seasons and the town of Evermore. The majority of the drama is about Dawn and Audren's feelings for each other. I love how Nellie Lind shook up the usual formula for a romance, and made Dawn already in love with the Winter Lord.

The world-building is amazing, and I want to visit Evermore, or maybe one of the Elders' home towns / worlds. The magic, the community, and the mission are all fascinating (I'm curious about the mission). I adore how the Lords and Ladies are reincarnated: Summer and Winter are sometimes Mother and Son, and sometimes it's the other way around. It's so cool how this book has the cycle of life, death, and rebirth as a huge part of the story.

I wish that there had been more focus on Dawn's family, because I'm still a bit confused by Arissa's behavior. I'm curious what happened with their new home, and possibly Emrin's new job.

The story itself has only a few surprises, but the journey is worth the time. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series! I HAVE to know what is going on with Mira, Eric, and the Autumn Lord!

Lots of typos, but nothing too distracting.

This story was a difficult one for me. I'm rating it a 2.5 stars.

I felt during the reading of this story; a lot of repetition occurred. This full length novel probably could have been written as a 'longer' short story.

The main characters love for Audren felt EXTREMELY juvenile. I remember being 15 in high school and seeing a cute boy and thinking that like if he noticed me and we got to know each other we could be in love and live happily ever after. This is how this entire story felt.

Audren was difficult to enjoy as a character because he is SO OLD, and WISE but unable to connect his emotions because 'he is a winter being and they don't feel'. Which, is valid in this story; however after living for as long as he has how could he not see this as love once he starts getting to know Dawn and spending time with her.

I feel like his love for her is true because he spent the entire story looking inward as to if this was love; whereas she was 'in love' with him without even knowing him personally.

Anyways, this author's main language isn't English. So I am hoping that this is another reason as to why the writing was kid-like. Maybe it wasn't translated exactly. The content was adult but the way the characters acted and spoke felt very young.

I will continue this series just because that's how I am haha.

This one caught my eye because of the beautiful cover, and the synopsis sounded interesting.
I was intrigued at the start to see where this would go, but it ended up being a predictable, one dimensional story, especially once Dawn moved into the castle with the Winter Lord.

The Elders are decently interesting, in a "mysterious otherworldly beings" kind of way, but Dawn is just so incredibly bland, I lost interest in her story.

The world building was okay, but I would have loved more background on pretty much everything, from the Elders (why do they care about this place? Why should we care about it?) to Dawn's family and the townspeople (Why do they worship the Elders? Is there any interesting history/politics or does this place just sort of exist?)

There were also definitely some editing and grammar issues. Some sentences mistakenly had present tense verbs when the story was written in past tense and stumbling over them took me out of the story. The language in general was simplistic with very basic vocabulary. I doubt I'll read the companion novel, even though the Autumn Lord was probably the best character.

Dawn is a young woman living in a town ruled by Elders, beings who rule the seasons. All of her life, Dawn has admired the Lord of Winter. As she grew older, that admiration changed to an unrequited love. She never wanted anyone else nor was she able to even feign interest in men from her town.

One day, Dawn meets the Lord of Winter in person. He saw her for the first time and that set into motion the rest of the book. What happens when a mortal woman falls in love with an immortal Elder?

I thought the love story was romantic and just the right touch of realistic. Watching the relationship evolve was exactly what I wanted to see.

I'm looking forward to the next book in this series - and seeing the Lord of Autumn find love, whichever book that one will be!

I read a lot of fantasy, and I will start with my positive. I enjoyed the idea of the lords and ladies of the seasons. I was intrigued by their mission and how it came to be. How the humans came to accept them. More about their origins-are they fae, aliens, something else? Unfortunately, we get precious little world building or details on this concept. The main character is incredibly immature for her age and boring in general. Nobody bothers to talk to each other about anything. The love scenes aren’t very steamy. I’d say they would be tame for YA romance even. The answer to the big problem presented is basically immediately apparent, so there’s no big twist at the end that you don’t see coming before the main characters even get together.

Loved this book

Loved this book. It was a fairy tale story for Dawn at first. She was in love with the god of winter. He was untouchable she always thought that her dreaming would never go anywhere but she could not stop thinking about him. Then one day I’m the market they met and he looked at her and started talking to her. Austen needed to find a women to have a baby with so he went looking and found Dawn. He never expected to fall I. Love with her because he didn’t think he could love. He had secrets that he never told her and when she finds out it might be the end. You will have to read to find out what happens between these to. This is a must read amazimg

Winter's Bride

I enjoyed this book!
A paranormal romance, but with a difference. No bears, wolves, vampires or ghosts but, eternal beings from other realms that rule over the four seasons.
Dawn is a human who is in love with the Winter Lord. Audren is perceived as being a God, by some of the villagers. He doesn't feel love or deep emotions as he is a winter being, a cold hearted being!I
When the Summer Lady feels that she is dying, Auden knows that he needs to marry and produce a child as a vessel for the Summer Lady's soul!
A gripping tale of finding and understanding love and all that it entails.

I enjoyed this one. It was an interesting plot with decent chemistry, however, I probably won’t read the rest of the series. I don’t regret reading this book but I won’t go out of my way to recommend it either.

My main issue was that this written as a duel POV but there was no indication of whose POV it was at the start of each chapter. I get that you can use context clues to figure out which MC is the focus but I’m honestly not trying to do all that. Just put the MC’s name at the top of the page and let’s be done with it, yeah?

On a positive note: no spoilers but one part actually made me super emotional and I needed a good cry so thanks so much for that

This is book 1 in the Elders of the seasons series. I had saw the mixed reviews on this but decided to give it a shot. I feel like in order to enjoy this you have to remember that this is a book of fiction. The one thing I did not like about it was the main girl character was in love with Winter. She was just a girl and she was in love with someone she hadn’t even talked with. It was just crazy. In the end it did turn into a moving tale. Just remember to disregard the love thing and it will be fairly enjoyable.

More fairy tale than romance novel

The heroine is a complete "Mary Sue," perfect, beautiful, virtuous, kind, etc. She has no major flaws. The hero is good, kind, powerful, and just a little dense. The writing carries a strong, almost sing-song quality, pleasant and reminiscent of oral storytelling. Like oral storytelling, the story tells more than it shows, with paragraphs of expository description and information dumps. Still, it's a charming story and I enjoyed it.

HEA

Every now and then I need a HEA story and this was a perfect fit. I really loved Dawn and Audren. But I think Sava might be my favorite. I am definitely going to be picking up the rest of the series just to see more of her. It got a little slow in the middle and probably needed another grammar/spelling editing run but nothing that really pushes the reader out of the story.

Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

Cute

This was a quick cute read. I enjoyed the journey to love for Audren and Dawn. It was entertaining, engaging, and just a nice wholesome read. There wasn't a multitude of those pointlessly obvious "misunderstandings " that usually spiral into a complete shyt show. There was one, but honestly, it wasn't a misunderstanding. It was just an unfortunate truth at the time. So, very much acceptable.

Would recommend. Super cute read.

I could not, for the life of me, get through the first couple chapters. I even skipped ahead a bit to see if anything changed... but I was sadly disappointed.

I think this book had potential, but the writing style was dull and I was bored, honestly. I kept flipping around, fiddling with other things,.and this boom just didn't capture my attention.
