Captain Jon Pike has found himself doing something he never could have imagined, teaming up with the Chaanisar. Their mission to find as many of the Hermes survivors as possible leads them to New Byzantium when they find the doctor but also get caught up in a brief but devastating civil war. The conflict sees the humans, the Chaanisar and the Reivers fighting together as one force and helps them to realise that they all share in common being isolated from the life they knew before. They are like former samurai of old, Ronin, and this is the name they adopt for themselves and for their ship. Rescuing and assisting the prime minister of New Byzantium has also given them an ally in the region, which will likely be of great importance when the inevitable Kemmaar attacks happen.

Great Sci-fi action

I had been waiting for this book since I finished Prevail. The action in this book like the others is non stop. There is an excellent mix of space battles and ground action. You also start to see what the author envisioned for this series of books. I did find several grammatical errors but that did not stop my enjoyment of this book. Now, I must wait again for the 4th one!

Daring Raids, Constant Battles, New Allies!

G. P. HUDSON has done it again, with this third volume of the Captain Jon Pike Chronicles. Pike finds new allies, old enemies and old friends as he and his crew becomes "masterless warriors" or "ronin".

VERY GOOD WRITING, SMOOTH TRANSITIONS, AND MANY PLOT TWISTS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Mediocre SciFi Story Suffocated By Bad Writing and Inept Editing

"Ronin," Book 3 of the series has a mediocre storyline, which could have potential merit, if the writing and editing were decent. Unfortunately, the author lacks basic writing skills, talent and imagination. Additionally, the editing is incompetent.

As the eBook author cannot take the effort to either learn how to write or edit his faulty commercial product, there is no reason in a review, to summarize the book. This book is not recommended.

Just can not say in words how great a story these first three books are! Just great!
If you like si-fi stories loaded with action, emotion, great characters,
And a author who knows how to tell a great story, this series of books are for you. Give it a shot every one, you will not be sorry.

Fast read

Good plot lines and enjoyable development of characters. I would ask for a longer length and develop multiple conflicts within the book. One planet and main thread makes the reading a bit fast and somewhat predictable.

Avid SciFi Reader Recommends

Fun read. Enjoy the character development. Worth the price. Looking forward to more. Think I have consumed all GPH's work to date via Kindle. Cant wait to see what happens next.

Weaker than the first two in the series

This sags under the weight of a large number of flashbacks. The character and universe building is too heavy handed and predictable. I still recommend this series if you like a very military and battle oriented space opera.
