Milo Castellano doesn't believe in ghosts. He believes in drafts, cheap sensors, and selling hand-stitched jackets to the fifty thousand people who watch him and his best friend crawl through haunted basements every week.
Grant Ellison believes in everything. Which is why, five years ago, he left a sneaker in a drainage ditch and ran, and why that sneaker is now the name of their channel.
The comments have been begging them to kiss for three years. Milo has a bit for that. He has a bit for everything.
Then they take a job at a farmhouse where every room goes cold except one, and they end up sharing a sleeping bag, and at 3:44 a.m. a door opens that nobody touched.
In the morning, neither of them says a word.
Now Milo is chasing a girl who vanished from the society pages in 1912, Grant can't stop looking at Milo, and the ghost seems to want something from both of them. Like maybe for somebody, finally, to say it out loud.
A slow-burn, best-friends-to-lovers paranormal romance with a skeptic, a believer, and one very famous shoe.
This book, like every other book, story, and novella in the series, is completely standalone.
If there would be anyone in the world you would want to be haunted with I would imagine your best friend, the person you feel closest to and most connected to, the person you trust with your life, would be the person of choice.
Milo and Grant have been filming their ghostly explorations for a few years now. Just because Milo doesn't believe in ghosts doesn't mean he doesn't want to be a part of what they do - as you'll soon learn he's the one who brings the realism, the monitors, the temperature readings, the research. he likes to deny to himself anything that could possibly be real about ghosts. He also likes to sew, to make clothes, for his degree and for their many viewers.
Grant does believe in ghosts and it's thanks to his firm belief that their channel formed, was named and they now only have one white sneaker which travels with them to every new apartment. Best friends since High School, which was when this all started, they've always been there for one another and they have always thought that they understood one another. Grant teases Milo about his lack of faith and belief in what they are doing, helps carry gear, gets places set up and tries to be strong and tough.
It's when something neither of them expect, something that (if they are honest about it) affects them both quite deeply, happens that everything, quite literally everything changes. They keep the channel going, Milo keeps making clothes, Grant makes his bread but underneath that all the experience has shifted something in them both, given them cause to awaken and explore feelings they've been hiding. But it also creates additional tensions that they don't truly know what to do with. Can they hold everything together for their channel, for their friendship and for the possible ghost they never knew they were setting out to help.
A fantastically spooky and romantic Halloween story for anyone who likes to delve into the unknown and explore.
Milo and Grant have been friends for years and together they have made their own YouTube channel going to haunted places and nearly all the chat is always are you together? Kiss him. Milo has known he was gay since he was 15 Grant Haz always seen himself as straight but one night at a haunted location something happens. Now they have this code which I’ll be very honest with you confused me at times where if they said the code it wasn’t talked about again. I think I knew from the beginning that these two would be good together but for me their communication skills were awful and I just wanted to knock their heads together one would sew, one would make bread I just found it all a bit weird if I’m being honest I enjoyed the storyline. I enjoyed the haunted investigations which were described very professional. It’s very much a slow burn I did like ending. I just think this one wasn’t for me sorry but I have to be honest in my reviews. But I’m still a big fan of Jason Pound.
