"I've never craved dominance or submission, but I have hungered for Alex." ~ Lottie

Alex has women falling at his feet, begging to be taken. It's exactly where he wants them, but for the one woman he wants he'd happily be the one on his knees.

Now he has a chance to make his teenage crush his, but it won't be easy; nothing worth having is. He has to break down the walls she's placed around her heart and prove she's the one.

"Lottie is mine, she'll always be mine. Now to show her what true love is." ~ Alex

We are introduced to Charlotte (Lottie) and Alex in Book 1, however it is not necessary to read these in order. There may, however, be possible spoilers here.

Both Lottie and Alex have had the hots for each other since they were teenagers, then Alex and Jack moved to the US. Now they're back and so is the attraction. Problem is Alex is a Dom and Lottie is not the submissive type. Of course Alex keeps pushing and this is one of my major gripes (more on that later). Lottie, doesn't want to let Alex in for personal reasons (another gripe), but doesn't want to lose him, either. Lottie goes through several 'sessions', or 'classes' if you will, from Ella's Domme friend and co-owner of the club, Isabel where Lottie learns how to be submissive and what it means. It's supposed to be research for a book, but all Lottie does is just "decide" to become a submissive. The problem with this is that the other side should also have been taught. A real choice is being given multiple options before making an informed decision. Besides, how can you do research on BDSM for a book and only explore one side? You can only tell a one sided story.

What I didn't like: There's a section where Alex messages Lottie to give her a book about a man becoming a dominant. He says "we may have a natural desire to dominate". Stop.Right.There. A PERSON is naturally dominant or submissive. It's cultural that either gender is pushed on way or the other. Even Lottie is surprised to hear from Jack that he does not, in fact, feel less manly for submitting to a woman (Lottie's sister Ella). I really wish this double standard would stop.

Another thing is the asking of the father or (in the case of Alex's and Jack's mother) the closest male. I get old habits die hard, but there is nothing inherently manly about it. What's manly is treating women like autonomous individuals, not like people incapable of making their own life decisions, or people who require someone else's permission to make a life altering decision.

I didn't appreciate Alex just not listening to Lottie's protests and just put her over his shoulder when she hurt her ankle. Sure she was hurt, but guys throwing a woman over your should is sexist. If she's hurt, you be there for her to lean on, but don't act like a caveman. Also, don't just push a girl into a cab. That's kidnapping. And WTF Lottie? You see Alex fuck another woman and a week later you're submitting to him? What a whore he is. Why do women want men that will just stick it in anything? No. Just no.

But my MAJOR gripe (and the reason I didn't give this a solid 5 stars) is the implication that a woman isn't submissive b/c she's afraid of losing someone close to her or for some other "reason". Some women just aren't submissive, and that's OK. There's a strong message here that "no means yes" or that a woman isn't submissive unless the "right guy" comes along. Um, no, some of us just aren't the submissive type. This message makes it difficult for women to be independent, b/c there's always some guy thinking "oh I'm the one that will get her to drop her walls and get to be her Dom". No. Some women just aren't and some men just are. This is a personal choice and not a gender obligation. Just b/c one craves a tender, loving relationship does not mean they have to be submissive. That is not a requirement of love, respect, and/or loyalty.

What I did like: Jack does step up and own the fact that he is owned. He loves it, and he doesn't feel less manly. Oh where art thou men who think this? Why do we have to have such a one sided culture? *le sigh*.

Ella is always there for her sister. No matter what.

Izzy is a great teacher. She's patient, informative, and thorough. She's also funny and a bit of a little devil in getting 2 people together. Sneaky little minx...I like this character a lot.

I appreciate the variations of sex in the book. There are some things in here that will probably make some people squeamish if they're not so open minded. I think this is because the author is from the UK where they tend to be less prudish than Americans.

The reason I gave this a try (b/c I'm not about the constant push of only alpha male/ dominant men with submissive women - far too one sided in our culture) is that this author really IS about equality. She writes about both genders being dominant or submissive, and even some switching going on. I like a fair and equal author and this author is both.

I also liked the obvious research the author has done. No use of "buzz words" to illicit a response from bored housewives. None of this bandwagon shit. Fields did REAL research, and it's apparent in the writing. Thanks for that.

I highly suggest the entire series.

Alex and Lottie a match made in childhood.

This is the second book in Megan Fields' Discovery Series. The first being Lost And Found, featuring Ella and Jack. In between there is the novella You Are Mine - which gives an insight into Jack and Ella's life.

Lottie has loved Alex ever since she laid her eyes on him, but then he moved to America with his family and she thought that there was never any hope for them. That was until Alex and his brother, Jack, moved back to England.

Jack is now happy in a relationship with Lottie's older Ella - the type of relationship that Lottie craves to have with Alex.

Alex has returned, not as a boy, but as a man, a dominant, sexy, man. A man who has only one wih in life - to make Lottie his own. Alex wants to turn his teenage crush into reality - he wants and desires Lottie's heart.

Megan Fields has written a beautiful story of self-learning and understanding. It is a journey of love and trust. It is Lottie's journey of self-discovery into the world of BDSM and determine what really lies within her own heart. Is she able to submit to Alex as he desires? Megan's research in this area has been perfect - she obviously knows what she is writing about.

I adored this book, because of the characters involved. Lottie is fiesty, lovable, endearing, strong and very much in love. She is also writing her own story within the book - excerpts that Megan has ver cleverly included at the back of the book. Lottie has had to overcome a major tragedy in her life - the death of her parents in a car accident. This had made her very wary about loving others - apart from her sister Ella. But, she wants Alex and will do anything she can to have him love her the way she loves him.

Alex is just the dream alpha male. Strong, sexy, dominant but also soft, tender and loving when he needs to be. He craves Lottie and will stop at nothing to get her. He works at a local BDSM club and decides to take himself "off the shelf" (make himself unavailable to others), so that he has a chance to gain Lottie's love.

Congratulations Megan on writing such a brilliant story.

Playing for Keeps is the 2nd book in the Discovery Series written by brilliant author, Megan Fields and is the beautiful and passionate story of Lottie Blake and Alex Cole.

I've been waiting for their story for a long time and it was everything I thought it would be - sexy, hot, moving, funny but most of all an amazing insight into D/s relationships.

You'll have briefly met Lottie in Lost of Found, the gorgeous love story between Lottie's sister, Ella and her lost love Jack; who's Alex's brother.

Since becoming partners with Ella and Mistress Izzy at Velvet - BDSM club - Alex spends his nights in his role as Dominant with his days spent as an artist in his shop which he joint owns with his brother. Lottie and Alex's paths cross many times as they spend time together with friends and family and unbeknown to Lottie, Alex still carries a torch for her since their teen years.

"All I want to do is lean down and lick her pulse, feel it beating against my tongue; her hot smooth skin against my lips. Feel her shudder beneath my touch and submit to me."

Despite his dominant persona, Lottie's attraction to Alex's grows and a cat and mouse chase begins. But Lottie has a problem. She's a strong-minded woman who doesn't have a submissive bone in her body. Well, not until she begins lessons with Mistress Izzy, all in the name of research for the book she's writing - of course!

"Oh honey, I say get down on your knees and go with the flow."

Follow the incredibly hot and lascivious friendship between Lottie and Alex as they embark on a journey that takes them to places they've both only ever dreamed of.

'"Alex," she whimpers; and just the simple sound of my name of her lips, makes me come.'

Once again, Megan Fields has come up with the goods, allowing the reader to feel they've stepped into the same room with her characters, feeling their pain and happiness and having a birds eye view of the beautiful world of submission.

An incredibly hot 5-star read.

3.5 stars. Good read, a LOT of sex. I didn't like that she saw him with another woman though. Ugh. But they were real and sweet after they finally got past everything. He was patient and understanding and I really felt his feelings for her.

Playing for Keeps is book #2 in the Discovery Series.
In Playing for Keeps we get to revisit the characters from Lost and Found, Discovery Series book #1. The main focus is on Lottie and Alex. Lottie and Alex met in high school when Alex's brother started dating Lottie's sister. They both had secret feelings for each other back then, but nothing became of it. Fast forward a few years and they see each other once again. Will the sparks fly? What will Lottie think when she finds out Alex's pleasures and lifestyle? Will Lottie fit into Alex's world? Find out when you read this amazing book by Megan Fields.

I really enjoyed this HOT story. Yes, this story has some super HOT and STEAMY scenes, however it's not just about that. It's a journey of someone finding themselves and learning not to be afraid of what you might lose, but trusting what you may gain instead. It's a journey of opening oneself to limitless possibilities.

This book is wonderfully written. I love and relate to the characters. I love how they have a strong family orientated friendship. How close they are with each other and how they will do anything to help one another out. I really can't wait for more from this author and with these characters. This book is five fantastic stars!!!
