I went to college for Technical Writing and put my love for storytelling aside. Well, I got tired of writing technical guides for corporations and decided to share my stories with you. For me, putting pen to paper has always been the most therapeutic way to handle my feelings. So, this is me sharing parts of myself with you.

I have a deep love for all things fantasy and romance. I find joy in getting lost in captivating stories and savoring hot chais—when my children give me the chance.

The Rite of Merriment is a festive, emotional novella that acts as a perfect transition between the Rite of Fates trilogy and the upcoming next generation. Somehow, within the short page count of a novella, I cried 3 times! I really found this one emotional (trigger warning for pregnancy loss), but everything was perfectly balanced because as much as I cried at some scenes, I laughed at others. I'm really excited to see where the story goes next with the next generation of heirs!

To say this is an emotional read is an utterly incomprehensible understatement.

The Rite of Merriment by Atlas Avery is a brilliant holiday novella that can be devoured in a single afternoon with a big mug of hot cocoa, a fluffy blanket, and soft holiday carols playing in the background.

Every character we adore from the Rite of Fates series is back to celebrate the holidays, and each moment of merriment and bout of shenanigans is a reason to grin and giggle in complete joy. Despite the short length of the novella, there is so much emotion packed into every sentence that it feels like a whirlwind that leaves you breathless in the best way..

Plus that little taste of what to expect next? Oh, so delicious!

I have yet to read something from Atlas that isn't magical, and of all her books, RoM has taken first place in my little black heart. 🖤 It cracked me open where I needed to heal from my own pregnancy loss many years ago, and has filled in those wounds with love and laughter. The grief is balanced perfectly with the light-hearted and loving moments, the pacing wonderful, and a loving dedication to these characters I’ve come to love so deeply.

Atlas succeeded in making me cry multiple times, laugh maniacally, and giggle while kicking my feet like a small child throughout this sweet, precious holiday excursion.

It's absolutely okay to skip this novella if the holidays and/or pregnancy loss are triggers for you. Protect your mental health. However, for those who need a little more of our favorite Heirs, the Rite of Merriment is a lovely snack stop on our way into the Darkness Between Threads!

As always, all my thanks and love to the brilliant Atlas Avery and her queen of a PA Nikki for allowing me the absolute honor of reading this novella 💗 Doing so has not influenced my review; all thoughts are my own.

OH MY, I cannot express how much I truly adore this story and the characters that reside inside of it. When I found out there would be a Holiday Novella that connects to The Rite of Fates Series I am already a little obsessed over I was over the moon because who wouldn't want more of their favorite characters especially when it features around them during the Holidays!

Well, Atlas Avery did it again because she made me fall in love with being in her world all over again to the point I didn't want to leave it when I got to the end. The Rite of Merriment is such a perfect bridge between what was formed amongst the OG characters and what's to come in the next generation. This story is full of emotions of all kinds and holds my heart with the love and care you could tell it was crafted with. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt at particular scenes, I cried so hard I felt like I had no tears left to give in others, but then there were the moments in between that had my heart feeling so full to see the sweet moments amongst the character that had become a big beautiful although somewhat unorthodox family to some but manage to fit so perfectly together that they are so much stronger together than apart.

The Rite of Merriment is such a beautiful mix of depth in emotions both high and low and lightheartedness that come along with the Winter Solstice festivities that blend together to create such a heartfelt and meaningful story.
I can't wait to see what comes next in the world of Atlas Avery!!

This book gets a good 5 stars from me... I NEED MORE! Like give me more. this was like a little appetizer and I wanted a meal.
If you are in baby fever, this is your book......

I feel like Atlas was like Oprah, you get a surprise, and you get a surprise, and you get a surprise... but what is the surprise???? You have to read to find out.

This book is about the 3 FMC + 1, who try to bring the holiday spirit to the MMC's and share their love for Saint Nick and the holiday cheer. There is a special reunion with a certain parent and a loved one... Again, read. I'm not giving you the spoilers.

I will say to check your triggers. I found myself listening and having some tears come down in a couple spots. And it's hard when certain character want to say something but refrain because of the pain it might cause someone else... AGAIN read the dang book to find out.

Ok, so just trust me and go get this book. It was such a great novella after the first 3 books. AND now I'm excited to get into the next series... whenever Atlas writes them.... WHICH this is my hint hint wink wink, I need them ASAP.....
AND yes, I ended up in her DM's because of this book. I devoured it and finished it in 1 day.....
YES you read that correctly, it was devoured in 1 day. Now I did complete it as an audiobook but still..... In 1 day and 1 sitting... Like no stopping, no pass go, no collecting $200... it was start to finish for me with this novella....

When I heard that Atlas Avery was giving us a novella with my favorite characters from the Rite of Fates series, I was over the moon with excitement. First, I love a holiday novella. This one was festive, beautiful, and made me laugh.

What I didn't expect going into this book was the healing experience it would be for me. Although this book has its light moments, it does cover pregnancy loss. I remember just sitting and bawling as I read this story and lived alongside the charatcer that suffered with this loss. Atlas was able to capture this specific character's feelings - the guilt, sadness, jealousy, and heartbreak. Reading someone's experience ended up being very healing for me. This kind of loss isn't something talked about a lot, so this representation is so important. This story would have really helped me feel a lot less alone and not so crazy if I had the opportunity to read it a few years ago.

RoM was the perfect bridge to Atlas's new series. Her ability to capture human emotion always resonates with and amazes me. Thank you for the opportunity to read this one!

It made my heart so happy to return to the world of this series. Best surprise ever because this series is a top tier favorite of mine. The festive vibes of this story fit right in with the world and remained true to the characters we got to know in the previous books. The happy festive vibes of this novella quickly took a nose dive straight into emotional damage and now I’m left reeling and trying to recover. I loved every minute of this story though and I can’t wait to see where the next generation goes.

Such a beautiful, emotional, holiday read. I loved being back in this world and I loved seeing more of Sloan and Julius. This novella made me cry numerous times, both happy and sad tears. There are so many important messages in these stories! and so of course many happy moments that make you cry because your characters are going to be okay 🥹

I can't wait for what is to come!

This carries such an important message throughout, displaying flaws, grief, struggles as natural and not lesser. I enjoyed this short festive instalment and it was so lovely to be reacquainted with the characters. I hope to see more of Sloan and Julius!
