Bundel columns waarin Annie M.G. Schmidt iets aankaart over mannen waarop Henri Knap antwoordt, en vice versa. Als er iets opvalt aan deze bundel is hoe vast mannen en vrouwen in rolpatronen vastzaten in de jaren vijftig. Het is duidelijk dat de immer dwarse Annie M.G. Schmidt deze wil doorbreken, maar deze keurslijven zijn niets om nostalgisch van te worden. De bundel is daarom vooral een inkijkje in een andere tijd, want al schrijft vooral Schmidt geestig, deze columns zijn vooral gedateerd. Het interessantst zijn de illustraties van Fiep Westendorp, vooral die op blz. 95 (de andere illustrator, Charles Boost, is vrijwel terecht vergeten).
