This volume was definitely the weakest which is a terrible shame as I really enjoyed the other two volumes. Not sure whether I will be continuing on with this series :/

What an intense yet unfinished (yet also weirdly finished?) ending to this short series! I’ve totally enjoyed following Fumi, Kyutaro, and the other sweepers and hopefully one day soon I can continue to follow them in Queen’s Quality on their further adventures!

This volume was intense with the bullying and near suicide angle and just wow was it HARD watching these characters go through such trauma and pain, yet I’m also glad the mangaka didn’t hold back on the very real horrors of this kind of treatment and what it does to people.

Both Fumi and Kyutaro go through very emotional journeys and I broke for them both and love them all the more for just how real and vulnerable they are with themselves, each other, and their family. They are just so relatable to me and I adore them deeply and am not ashamed to say I ship them very hard, lol.

Ataru is so CREEPY! I was so creeped out whenever he was on page yet he also manages to be really petty on top of being so creepy and evil? It’s a really weird combination but it works for this guy, and I do not like him! Ugh, he’s the worst!

This series was a surprise and I’m so glad I took the chance and tried it!

‼️Content‼️

TRIGGER WARNING: a girl nearly commits suicide by jumping off a bridge but is stopped

Language: what the heck; damn

Violence: a girl hits a guy to save her friend; a guy goes nuts and starts attacking people; a girl has water thrown on her; a guy threatens to tase another; guys punch/fight each other (nothing over PG-13); a girl is shoved; a girl nearly commits suicide by jumping off a bridge but is stopped; a guy holds a girl against her will and orders her to lick his finger

Sexual: a girl lies on top of a guy (they’re just sleeping/resting); a kiss on the top of the head

Other: giant bugs mentally “infest” people; magic; supernatural powers; characters go into people’s minds and clean out bad/negative thoughts/emotions; a girl is called a curse; characters’ spirits step out of their bodies; high school students see a fortune teller (not in a good light); a fortune teller reads auras; bullying

Updated Review 6/17/23: "Grab hold of whatever it is and start defining yourself! You're not empty, Kaori. This is only the beginning. . . . Dig down deep into yourself and find it!"

SO! VERY! GOOD! Just typing out what Fumi said gives me goosebumps all over again because so powerful!

Once again I'm surprised how my feelings toward this volume are slightly different (but only by a little bit) compared to when I first read it in that this time the emphasis on truly reaching others with our thoughts and feelings really touched me. I don't feel that's an uncommon "trope" in shoujo manga, but in this one Fumi really did almost reach her breaking point and it felt even more critical that her feelings reach her friend. This series has continuously shown the importance of community and how deeply it impacts us, with this volume being no exception. If it hadn't been for Kyutaro and Granny, I don't think Fumi could have so passionately expressed her feelings to Kaori as she did.

And Kaori! What a turn of emotions because I did NOT like her at first, but my heart swelled with compassion for her by the end. (And a surprisingly deep relatable if I'm honest. *hides*)

This was definitely the most intense volume out of the three, and can imagine Queen's Quality will be even more so!

Also the romance!!! I NEED these two to get together!! Kyutaro is one of the most sweetest and gentleman of a hero I have seen! (He's definitely "rivaling" Leo from the mangaka's other series Beast Master! LOL)

Very excited to start Queen's Quality next!

Original Review 12/12/22: "Sometimes spite is born as easily as crushing a flower underfoot. You can keep your heart as pure as possible but people carry spite inside them. That's just how it is. But that doesn't mean you can look away from the evil that results from it. That darkness can swallow you up more easily than anyone wants to believe. You have to listen to hear your heart warning you before that happens."

I do not have the words to reflect how much I love this series. It has been deeply impactful and almost cried at the end because Fumi's actions are so powerful. And not just her, but Kyutaro too, and this whole cast of characters!

Except for the villain, we've met so far. 😐😐😐 (I won't say anything more because that guy makes me seriously angry…)

Anyway, this series is super special, and honestly can see it being in my all-time favorites despite that I've only read it once. I realize this is a romance, but I DO think this story shows the importance of community and depending on one another. Deeper still, being honest with your real feelings despite if the words aren't perfect because your REAL feelings reach those around you.

Granted, that can both ways unfortunately, but I also think it's why the series is powerful too.

Maybe that doesn't say much, but this is honestly a series I will reread again because I just feel it hits me on multiple levels that I can't even comprehend all at once. I don't remember the last time a series hit me quite like that. (Coffee Moon is the second closest that I can think of, but I didn't love it the same way with this series even though that IS a good manga.)

I'm not sure who to recommend this to, but I will say it's an amazing series and super hyped to see how things unfold in Queen's Quality! I went ahead and bought all of QQ Sweeper and Queen's Quality today because I KNOW this is a series that I'm going to want to reread again to be able to soak in something I missed the first time (and soak in again things I read the first time).

As a bit of a spoiler.... this is the end of QQ Sweeper, but its going to be the beginning of a new series with a different title and same protagonists as well as same storyline, which will be serialised in BetsuComi (a monthly Japanese magazine) starting August of 2015. Once you read the manga you'll understand why the sudden change in name. Everything will be made clear in this volume as to the title and our heroine Fumi.

When stuff like that happens, you should clean like crazy! Scrub a hundred times harder than usual! Take out all the anger and frustration on the dirt.

Cleaning won't ever betray you. If you focus completely on it, you'll feel better... and even if you don't, your room'll be clean.
There was rather less actual cleaning and/or fewer cleaning tips in this book than the previous two, in favor of introducing a more complex situation for Fumi. I'm not sure if I'm entirely happy with bug infestations being caused by bad guys rather than originating in people's own heads, but the last chapter of this book was really well done, with a conclusion that was both moving and over-the-top superhero-like. I'll definitely keep going with QQ Sweeper's continuation Queen's Quality, a rebranding that was a mystery even to the author herself.

Edit to add: I think I know what the title of this manga means, after reading its third volume! Just in time for the title to change. It's kind of silly at best, especially considering that QQ was a flippant, meme-ish way to mock the idea of someone else crying probably 12 years ago (ETA: nearly 20 years ago, looking at its usage over time. dang, the internet age goes by fast!), and the characters' troubles are never presented as anything but serious and significant to them. So I can understand why they went with a more reasonable name for the follow-on series.

Second edit to add: I guess this is my 700th manga review. Wow! One thousand isn't that far away. Maybe by the end of next year.

Through out the whole thing I felt as if I was reading Dengeki Saisy. Nope, it was;t the story but it was just the art. So yeah it's not fair of me to write something. It's the same author. Obviously the artwork would have similarities.

But it wasn't just the art work but the characters itself. The chemistry between Fumi and Kyutaro was way too similar to Teru's and Kurosaki. Other than that no similarities.

The story itself is unique or maybe it's just I haven't read enough manga to know. The story is completely different from Dengeki Daisy. Here we see a bit of Supernatural elements. But nonetheless the story isn't bad and definitely worthwhile to read.

I heard the series will be published in a another name? Good, cuz the ending was too cliffhangy.
But why a different name?

While this volume felt much more rushed than the previous volumes, it was very clearly setting up the sequel series, and given how much I love these characters and their world, I'm definitely excited to see where this goes.

Actual rating 3.5. I wanted a little more ... something, at the end. A stronger climax? Or just a stronger emotional arc? But still a fun read, and ends with a lead in to a connected series.

So this is the final volume of a trilogy, though the series does continue with a new title and a new volume 1 but I don't know if it's being translated into English or not. Anyway ... this is a wonderful final volume. It is very intense with its paranormal content, the romance between the main characters, and there is also a theme of friendship and forgiveness. What I really liked about the romance aspect of this series is that the two main characters do like each other and while it's intense there is none of that reading 15 volumes before the characters kiss business that keeps me away from most shojo. The paranormal aspect is a little silly, bugs infecting people, but again it's intense and a villain is centre stage in this volume. The cleaning aspect is actually fun and adds humour to the other dark overtones. The ending isn't finite as the mangaka had to wrap things up quickly but she did a good job of leaving you to imagine the future. But of course, the series does continue under the title "Queens Quality".

Kyutaro finally knows! All it took was for Fumi to eat something his childhood friend ate the same way. This final volume focuses on Ataru and how he's after Fumi, even going so far as to trying to kill her. All because Fumi is a queen.

Kyutaro never tells Fumi his feelings... which bothered me so freaking much till I found out that there was another series after this one. Now it makes sense, he's planning to stay by her side, no matter what. I'm guessing in that series they are going to be dealing with the fact that she's a queen and can either turn evil or stay good. Hopefully he confesses to her in that series.

Overall, this was fun and very short, so if you're looking for a good manga but don't want to invest into a long one. This is perfect! The art is stunning, the story is fun and the characters are funny.

If you tell me around a year or so ago that I will like this series, I would've just looked at you funny. First of all, I don't like complicated storylines nor do I like anything to do with philosophy and whatnot. So why do I like this now? Honestly, I think the biggest credit has to go with the characters. I love the leads so much. And of course, Motomi-sensei deserves credit here because she was able to write characters that us readers can't help but root for. As for the story itself, if I were to be completely honest, this series kinda ended in a half-baked manner, but I guess more answers will probably be answered at it's "sequel manga", Queen's Quality which I'll probably read cause I need more. :)

Oh how I love so much about this series! The art, the story, the characters, all of it! I don't know that I will have enough of these characters by the end. The whole concept of going in and cleaning out the negativity in people is amazing! I love the visual that this creates. I am ready to dive into Queen's Quality now, and can't wait!

"Always try to be aware of your mental state. When are you sad? When are you happy? Why? What makes your mood unstable and what do you have to do to stabilize it? And in what situations does your heart feel happiest?"

Really loved this manga. I'll definitely read the sequel!

In this world intrusive negative talk and self hate is personified as dark bugs that infest in the dirtiness within our minds. Kayutaro and his family run a secret sweeping business where they are charged with cleaning the minds of those within their sector. Fumi is randomly drawn to Kayutaro and his family, and she begins her training as a sweeper.

Queen's Quality is advertised as being the spin off of this series. I read this series after reading the first volume of Queen's Quality with that in mind. However, this isn't a spin off. It more so is just the first three volumes of the series. The author mentions that there was a reason she had to change the title so I'm trying to readjust my mindset without putting it against the manga.

I really like the dark and light elements of this series and different ways they brought up dark topics like suicidal ideation and self hate. I didn't love how the main girl's soul stated dream in life is to find a Prince Charming. She doesn't mention it too often and she is a three dimensional character, but I cringe a little when she does bring it up.
I also understand why Kayutaro and his family are keeping secrets from Fumi but there are several times where Fumi is told to rely on others, and trust them to help her...it feels a little hypocritical that they aren't trusting her. I'm hoping that the secret elements don't last too long.

Another good volume, showing Fumi's strength of character. I hate how the bullies call her stuck up when she ignores the taunts. She has a good point about if she would cry then they'll just say shes playing at being a cute girl... The fact that this still happens just ugh. I really like the true friendships here, and I am excited to see what Queens Quality brings to the story!

Gemesin banget mereka berdua. Semoga Queen's Quality bisa diterbitkan hingga tamat versi Indonesianya.

Vol. 1 ★★★☆☆
Vol. 2 ★★★☆☆

Admittedly, this isn't a strong volume. It's rushed, ends abruptly, and leaves so many questions unanswered. However, I'm only reading this so I can start Queen's Quality so it doesn't bother me too much.

If I didn’t know these were prequels, I’d be so upset with that ending. But, because I doooo… I’m obsessed! I’m so exacting for Queen’s Quality! The first volume makes so much more sense with the background these give lol. And who the hell needs a knight when they could have a sweeper like Q? 😌

This was a really cute, funny and entertaining manga. Only three short volumes that preface the next series that picks up right where this one leaves off.

Unfortunately I think this volume fell short, especially when you compare it to the first two volumes. I felt like the story itself looked away from Kyutaro and Fumi, neither of which were in a good chunk of this conclusion.

The storyline and characters were fun and kept me interested. The usage of emotions and the subconscious was unique and something I haven't seen explored in manga. We have a bit of a secret romance and hidden feelings within the series and this volume really does leave you guessing how and if that ever progresses in the next series.

This series does deal with quite a few difficult themes and topics. These include bullying, suicidal thoughts and attempts, amnesia, depression and more. And though I thought a lot of these themes added to the plot and characters, I did feel like the story was rushed along a bit.

This is a very sweet, short series. I absolutely fell in love with this manga within the first chapter. The art style is clean and one that I gravitated towards instantly. This story follows our main characters as they clean up minds of others. These sort of fantasy elements and the relationships between all of the characters were so well done, that I read all the volumes in one sitting. These characters are not stagnant, they constantly show me new sides of themselves that make me want more.

The story will continue in Queen’s Quality that is coming out later next year. I cannot wait to continue this story as I could not get enough of it in these volumes.
