For a juvenile book, my expectations were low, but my hopes were high! And it delivered. Playful but serving up some plot twists, I loved sitting down with the character that entranced Rainbow Dash and sparked her love for reading. Definitely going to read the other two.

I think that this was a really good book and I'm happy to find out that G.M. Berrow and the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic creators made actual Daring Do books! I'm interested in reading more of the Daring Do books!
But, even though it was a really good book, I rated it four stars and not five because, it seemed boring at most parts and I had to force myself to read more. Ether it was because of a reading slump, or maybe I've grown out of My Little Pony books -which is very, VERY unlikely- I don't know.
One thing I especially liked about the book, was that, at the end there's a glosarry, explaining some things, My Little Pony fans, or people who havn't read the other books, might not know. Like Ahuizotl;
'Ahuizotl (Ow-whee-ZOH-tul): A giant, evil beast who will stop at nothing to gain riches and power. He is Daring Do's biggest foe.' So, that's really cool and ya.

Como buena fan de My Little Pony, tenía muchas ganas de leer los libros de Daring Do, y por fin me he dado el tiempo para darles una oportunidad. Luego de ACOWAR e Illuminae necesitaba algo más ligero, y un libro middle-grade me pareció la mejor opción.
Daring Do y El Ladrón de Marapore es una lectura ágil y entretenida, donde acompañamos a Daring, esta pony aventurera que tiene una debilidad por los tesoros perdidos, en su misión de salvar tres pequeños poblados ponys de un antiguo héroe que se ha vuelto villano. Es un libro muy cortito, con capítulos que te llevan de lleno a la acción y una Daring Do que no puede decir que "no" a la aventura.
Me encanta conocer más de Equestria, ya sea a través de la serie animada, las películas, los juegos, libros o este tipo de novelas. Los personajes que aparecen en este libro no tienen mucha profundidad por la longitud del libro, pero aun así, logras entender sus ambiciones y actitudes.
En fin, que lo recomiendo. Si eres fan de My Little Pony, es muy probable que entiendas la emoción de Rainbow Dash cada vez que alguien menciona a Daring Do. Si estás buscando algo ligero para una tarde, creo que es un buen libro. Y desde luego, un bonito regalo para los niñes, y no tan niñes.

Pony punishment
I'm not much of a MLP fan but curiosity made me read this one. Rather like a comic book without the pictures, I'd say, but thoughtfully worked out. The many puns kept me going even when the campy and exaggerated plot and characters became too heavy handed.

Part of the 2015 Reading Challenge: A trilogy
I wanted this set of books from the moment I heard about them. Three novels dealing with Daring Do? Heck yes!
This is the first one I’ve read of the three, and I greatly enjoyed it. It was a fun, quick read, and it felt like it was lifted straight out of the MLP show. The cover of the book is beautiful, and it was great to be following around a character as cool as Daring Do.
I loved the subtle hints referencing back to what we’ve learned about Daring Do in the show, with her being canon and all. I haven’t watched that episode in a while, so I can’t say this for certain, but this book (and presumably the other two) takes place before Daring has met the Mane 6.
I love how this book ties everything together, while it also seems to hint at the other books in the set.
However, this book does have its flaws. The biggest thing is the pacing. The beginning of the book immediately pulls you in, and there are moments of rising tension, but I don’t feel like much happened until halfway through the book, in regards to Daring Do.
Another flaw is the villain/climax, but I’ll talk about that in the spoilers section.
Last complaint happened on page 85. The POV shifted to another character for a sentence or two, and then it went back to Daring Do. How was this not caught in edits? It’s a very amateurish mistake, and it pulled me out of the story. I had to reread the paragraph to make sure I hadn’t read it wrong. It’s a very small thing, but it pulled me completely out of the story. There is another moment of this clear back on page 18, though this shift was handled a little better. Still, it wasn’t necessary, and the writing would have been stronger without it.
This book was a really enjoyable read, and I don’t regret buying it (half off, of course—who pays $70 for three books?!). It has its flaws, but it’s a quick and enjoyable read, and Daring Do is a fun character to follow on an adventure.

There’s no way to talk about my problem with the villain without spoilers, as I didn’t have a problem with said villain until the climax. If you look at the My Little Pony show, quite a few of the antagonist characters are reformed, so it’s not a huge surprise a sympathetic villain is reformed in this book. My problem comes with how easily Mojo gave up. One moment, pretty much everything was going according to plan. I mean, Mojo thinks the golden pony part of the spell has been messed up, but he was going ahead with the plan anyways. Then… he just gives up. The crumbling cave seems to be the biggest motivation for his giving up, but it should have been obvious to him from the beginning that the cave would be crumbling, considering the active volcano about the explode. It wasn’t like it was a new factor or anything. Daring Do’s words weren’t doing anything before, either. Mojo just brushed them aside.
If there had been something more to explain Mojo’s sudden change in heart, the climax would have been just fine. Instead, it’s just left me confused, like I’ve missed something.

August 6, 2024I was pleasantly surprised at how well written and enjoyable this was, considering it's written for kids around my daughter's age. It was fun and exciting to read together.

A must have for My Little Pony fans of all ages! As an adult, I have been a little hesitant to read the actual My Little Pony novels by GM Borrow, mostly because I feel I would not be able to relate and were a little out of my age bracket. I saw this book at B&N over the weekend and picked it up, not sure what to expect. I was hooked the minute I opened it. I have to warn fans of the series, if you are expecting the Mane Six to make an appearance you will be disappointed (they are mentioned once and not by name). But the book does not suffer for that. Expanding even further on the universe of Equestria, we are taken to ponyfied versions of Naples and other cities, and meet a bevy of new characters. Of course Daring Do is the star, and this is a totally awesome book because of it. Eagerly awaiting for more Daring Do tales!!!!!

As a fan of MLP, as someone who grew up with it and attached herself to the characters, it was amazing to be able to read the same book that my fictional friends read and loved.
Sentimentally, 5 stars. Writing and engaging-ness, 3 stars (mostly due to, you know, me being 22 now and reading non-children's books).
Recommend as children's book, whether an MLP fan or not.
Recommend for fans of MLP who would enjoy holding the same book Rainbow Dash raves about.
Do not recommend for people of adult reading age who do/did not enjoy MLP.

I feel like there were a couple of details left out. As I was reading it was a little hard to follow what was happening in a sense. At first, I thought GR Golden Rule was actually Mojo at Daring Do's cottage. But when Daring actually met Golden Rule and got clues from Tater tot the clues started to make a little bit of sense. The green ointment I truly thought it was a muscle relaxer. Because Daring Do never said anything about not having her cutie mark. I guess because she was wearing a cloak the whole time? And why steal all the pets?

This was a lot cuter than I had expected. Daring Do is the Indiana Jones of the pony world and I enjoyed reading it out loud to Alice. It's more of a middle grade book than a young reader, but she enjoyed listening to it and was able to keep up. It was enjoyable for us both and I look forward to reading another one.

This was actually pretty solid. The writing was more for children, and the pony puns got annoying after a while, but this reminded me of why I loved My Little Pony to begin with. It was neat to read about Daring Do, when the books about her were actually something one of the characters read in the series!

This was absolutely adorable. I always love knowing what character's are reading and I can very much see why this book sparked Rainbow's love of reading, and I'm looking forward to reading the next two as well! I wasn't expecting a lot when I went into this, but it was a great fast-paced and cute read.

I liked it, though it was kinda long and drawn out, it could have been that way because I was quite Young when I read it, though, the characters were quite good, and I love the My little pony TV show, so I have to give it that. (First review on anything, sorry if it's not that helpful, and sorry for any spelling errors)

This book was super fun to read! I'm a huge my little pony fan, and when I found out the books that Twilight and Rainbow dash adore so much were actually real, I had to get my hands on them. Definitely worth the read.

I love Daring Do so much! Such a clever book series , I mean the references to the Nahuatl people and language are so smart and the puns like Mount Vehoovius and Neighples.

My favorite part was when Derring Do saved the little pet animals and saved the town and saved Mojo before the volcano erupted. And the part where he said “my pet goose is gone!” And where they found the golden Pegasus.

I loved loved loved this book! They did such a good job making a thrilling story about one of Daring Do's adventures. I look forward to hopefully more Daring Do books being released in the future!

In the show, the Daring Do books are introduced when somebody outside the target audience starts to read and really enjoy them (quite likely a shout-out to how the show itself generated a large fanbase outside the target audience). So it's quite fitting that the real-life editions will also be appealing to adults despite being books for children.
So what's it all about, aside from horse puns and multi-colored ponies? Well, it's Indiana Jones as a female pegasus, out to stop evil, collect artifacts and save the day! And it's... pretty awesome!
Of course, keep in mind that this is a book aimed at younger audiences, so Indiana Jones franchise classics like face-melting Nazis and priests holding up still-beating hearts are nowhere to be found here. (Boo! =P)
My one complaint is that the plot (and the climactic confrontation) wraps up a bit too quickly for my liking. I understand that this is a stand-alone(-ish?) book for kids, so I'm not asking for an epic fight to the death, but I was still left with a sense of "...that's it?" in the end.
Still, this is a short, but well-written and enjoyable book, and I imagine that parents will have a good time reading this book to their kids.

I really enjoyed this Daring Do book! I loved the Daring Do episodes of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, and this book was even better than those episodes! It really got the feel of an adventure novel down! I'd recommend to fans of My Little Pony, or kids who enjoy adventure stories, even if they aren't really a fan of My Little Pony.

That that had a lot of action and lots of places that Daring do went to get the key from the map. From the evil pony was try to get what he wants to destroy Marapore form the village. And they have exciting ending and the Middle and it s really good. And people hope they read it because it more fun to read this book and i like it.
