4 Two Wrongs Make Such an Explosive Right Stars

Last May, I read the first book of a series about 3 Irish Crime families by Katee Robert. I found it had heart, layers, and potential...especially with the secondary characters of James Halloran and Carrigan O'Malley. Both families are mortal enemies... have been for a long time and now even more so due to a death of a young brother and kidnapping.
These two are not what they let others see...He hates what he has to do as the new head of the "family"; his younger brother is a hothead and reckless. By his actions, the O'Malleys shining star "clean" son is gone. All of the goodwill James had tried to have with the O'Malleys was destroyed.
Of course, it didn't help the fact, James and Carrigan were at the same club; did a scorching hook-up in the supply closet... I am talking mind-numbing, shooting stars and white lights banging one minute, and then the next, James realizes who he had and threw her in his trunk to use her for leverage in a power struggle. That he let her and the others escape hasn't washed him of his sins....
No, these two characters left the reader wanting more... a lot more and in this book, Katee Robert delivers.
We have a Romeo and Juliet type of thing but with Carrigan fighting her attraction to James...He is the one who knows she is something more...
Carrigan is in hell. Her family is all business; the children are pawns for the good of the business and have no consideration of their wants or needs emotionally...not even from the mother. For the mother is just as cutthroat as the Head of the family...she just delivers the orders with a bit more polish.
Carrigan is to be married...not of her choosing but from a list of possible business alliances to benefit the O'Mallorys. It is as if the times are not 2016 but back in the dark ages and Calligan is mentally running for her life. For no matter how strong, intelligent, or capable, in the end...it will always be family.
She has one month and counting to decide who on the list she will be tied to for the rest of her life....so, in these last weeks of freedom, James is her outlet. These two play a dangerous dance...him, awaiting her need to have a strong hand... a real man there to protect her from her pain... and he sees what she needs... not to be pushed and allowed to make the decision of reaching out to him...
The need for each other plays out against an internal Halloran family war; James is forced to reign in his dangerous younger brother, commit to a purchase of merchandise he never wanted and fight his all-consuming need for Carrigan. Everything starts to race against the marriage clock ticking away causing thrilling and satisfying results.
This story is a love that is set up for failure but has one participant determined to make it happen as best he can...he is patient with her...and we want him to win her heart and soul.
Against all of this is the continuing back story of all of these families...there are brothers who seem lost, sisters who are either drowning their sorrow in booze or hiding in the background praying no one notices.
Plenty of stories to wonder about... and it looks like the brother Cillian is going to be next.

Wow! This book kept me in suspense the whole time reading. My heart was beating so fast during James and Carrigan's story, and I really had no clue how this was going to end.
Carrigan has escaped her father's grasp long enough, and he's finally laid down the law about her getting married. To her father, Carrigan isn't a daughter, she's a business pawn that he can use to make arrangements with and gain more power. She starts to come to terms with the fact that an arranged marriage is going to be pushed on her, but then James Halloran, the guy that kidnapped her, comes around.
James has never wanted to be like his father, the ruthless man that would do anything to get what he wants, including hurt his own children. When his father ends up in jail and he becomes the head of the family, he'll have to do anything it takes to take care of his family. But then he see's Carrigan for the first time after he kidnapped her and her sister-in-law, and all his plans go right out the window. He know's he shouldn't approach her, knows that they could both end up dead if their secret is found out, and he also knows that he can't give her up.
I loved these characters, their strength and passion made them truly realistic to me, and it's what made me fall for both of them. Carrigan and James were both the black sheep in their families, they didn't do everything that their parents said, and their first priority was never what would better their family business. Instead, they wanted to improve their family, and not have to achieve that in criminal ways.
That's what made this book so interesting, it wasn't just about the Mafia, it was about two people desperately needing to get out from the hold of the Mafia. I was stuck in this book from the very first chapter and from beginning to end my heart was racing. So many people are going to go into this book the same way I did, thinking they knew what was going to happen, but let me just warn you now, you will absolutely not know what is going on!
Bottom line, The Wedding Pact is one crazy rollercoaster that everyone needs to jump on and ride. It's suspenseful, romantic, sexy as hell, and I already want to read it all over again.

The Wedding Pact picks up right where The Marriage Contract left off. For those that are thinking of reading these books as standalones, while you technically could, I'd recommend reading the series in order as the story arc continues through the books and the O'Malley siblings get introduced early. Carrigan and James's story began in book 1 with the hot little interlude they shared in the supply closet of a club four months ago before each knew who the other was. Things didn't end well when James thew her in the trunk of his car and kidnapped her in order to use her against her family since the O'Malleys and Hallorans are mortal enemies.
Now both sides are left to deal with he aftermath. The eldest Holloran heir is dead, the father is in jail, and James is left to run his father's empire and deal with his wayward younger brother who seems to constantly get himself into trouble. But there's one thing that James never forgot; the taste and feel of Carrigan, the woman that he can't stop thinking about and can never have.
With the death of her brother Devlin during the Holloran vs O'Malley power struggle, things have been a lot more on edge than usual in her family. Try as she might to avoid the subject, with her pushing thirty, her father is pushing her to fulfill her responsibility as an O'Malley and pick a suitor in order to form a power alliance. But as much as Carrigan wants to deny it, she can't stop thinking about James. When she fled from his house (and he let her escape), she took a prized possesion of his with her and now James is using that as an excuse to track her down. Can she resist the temptation or will giving in to him have everything crashing and burning?
I enjoyed this book much more than the first one. While I loved the premise and set up in The Marriage Contract, the insta-love element didn't quite work for me. There's an edge of angst with a dose of forbidden in this book that really worked for me. James is rough around the edges and deliciously sexy. Carrigan is one tough cookie herself. She doesn't need anyone to save her and takes care of herself just fine; which I really appreciated.
There's also a bit more grit to this story than the previous one. I was hoping with the series focusing around a mob family that we'd finally get to the nitty gritty and it begins to dig into the dark underbelly a bit here. But at it's heart, it's still mostly a contemporary romance, so if you're worried that it's dark, don't be.
I enjoyed the forbidden romance and progressing story line here. We get Cillian's POV as well which is building up to be a doozy that I can't wait to read. And while I enjoyed the story for the most part, there were also some things that grated on me a bit. For one, it was James's overuse of the endearment 'lovely'. It got so repetitive at times, he'd be using it numerous times in a conversation. I'm a bit surprised it wasn't cut down, to be honest, because it was simply too much. Or at least it was for me. I also found the resolution for James and Carrigan to be a little flat. There was all this build up, and it all wrapped up almost too perfectly at the end, particularly for James and his family.
Also (and this is the picky Russian in me poking her head out), I have to say that I was pretty disappointed that the one and only Russian word that was used by a secondary character here was used wrong. Google translate strikes again. But I tend to be super picky about translations in books, so this is definitely an "it's only me" thing. Most won't even notice, let alone bat an eye lash at this.
But those minor quibbles aside, it was still a great sexy and action-packed read. If you're looking to dip your toes into a mafia story but don't like them too gritty or dark, you really can't go wrong with this one.

It seems high-profile crime families are their own kind of royalty, entwining together families, assets, and resources via the strategically arranged marriages of their children. At least that is the situation our heroine finds herself in. But she just happens to be in love with the enemy. Talk about Romeo and Juliet.
Katee Robert knows how to write romantic suspense. The O'Malleys series is the first crime family series I have ever read and I am enjoying the new scenery. In my opinion, the ratio of family drama/strategy/crime toromance sex isn't exactly equal. Ms. Robert started the book by kinda sorta dedicating it to Tiffany Reisz, and if any of you readers out there have had the true pleasure of reading the amazing Ms. Reisz then you will know that is no insignificant dedication. It is a disclaimer. This book will be on fire! It's pretty explicit and heavy on the romance um...sex, both of which I didn't necessarily mind, but I also wouldn't mind a bit more of the crime family component too. Needless to say I enjoyed The Wedding Pact and am enjoying this series overall. If this sounds like something you might like, then give it a shot. I've never read a Katee Robert book I didn't like!

"Sometimes I fantasize about getting in a car and driving until I find some tiny little town where no one's heard of the O'Malleys and where everyone knows everyone else and things are just simpler." ... What I Liked:
Last year, The Marriage Contract blew me away. It was easily one of my favorite adult romance novels of 2015, and by one of my favorite romance authors too. Katee Robert's Brazen-published novels are amazing and steamy and fun to read, but this Forever-published series... this series has to be her best work yet. I am in awe of this author's storytelling!
Carrigan O'Malley's biological clock is ticking, according to her controlling father. The oldest daughter and second oldest O'Malley child, Carrigan has always known that she would be destined for an arranged marriage that would benefit the O'Malley empire. And when her father hands her a list of eligible suitors and tell her that she has a month to choose, Carrigan knows her time is up. But she can't seem to forget - or avoid - James Halloran, the man left her with rated R memories, kidnapped her, and then helped her escape. James can't get Carrigan out of his mind, and he's not sure he wants to. The O'Malleys hate the Hallorans, but James can't stay away from Carrigan. But with Carrigan's time running short, James will have to decide is pursuing her is worth it.
Oh James. Oh Carrigan. Usually in romance, I'll like one of the protagonists more than the other - and it's usually the male (hehe). But in this book, I loved both of these protagonists. I felt bad for both of them - they had to make incredibly difficult decisions (some of which had nothing to do with each other), and there was no way I could read this book and not want to give them both a hug.
Carrigan is still grieving over her youngest brother's death (he was killed by a Halloran, but not James). It's been four months and the O'Malley family is splintering, though Teague and Callie's wedding is something Carrigan is looking forward to. Carrigan hates that her father has so much control over her life, and she sneaks out and about a lot. I liked Carrigan in The Marriage Contract but I adored her even more, in this book. She is every bit as strong and decisive and bold close up as she was far away, in book one.
James... I liked him in The Marriage Contract, but that quadrupled in this book. With his father in prison, James is now the head of the Halloran family. Except that he has his wild brother Ricky to deal with, and the entire Halloran empire that is slow to accept his leadership, and the fact that he wants to keep seeing Carrigan O'Malley when all of the O'Malleys are out for Halloran blood. James has to make heartbreaking decisions, and he has to be more than human, to protect those he cares about, including Carrigan. It's so sad to see him running the Halloran empire and trying to make things right, but everyone is misjudging him because of his father's and brothers' deeds
There was no doubt in my mind that these two would be perfect for each other, after reading The Marriage Contract, and it's quite clear that this is the case, after reading this book. James is an alpha male to the core, but he is also sweet and thoughtful and fiercely protective. Carrigan is bold and strong, and selfless too. What I Liked:
Last year, The Marriage Contract blew me away. It was easily one of my favorite adult romance novels of 2015, and by one of my favorite romance authors too. Katee Robert's Brazen-published novels are amazing and steamy and fun to read, but this Forever-published series... this series has to be her best work yet. I am in awe of this author's storytelling!
Carrigan O'Malley's biological clock is ticking, according to her controlling father. The oldest daughter and second oldest O'Malley child, Carrigan has always known that she would be destined for an arranged marriage that would benefit the O'Malley empire. And when her father hands her a list of eligible suitors and tell her that she has a month to choose, Carrigan knows her time is up. But she can't seem to forget - or avoid - James Halloran, the man left her with rated R memories, kidnapped her, and then helped her escape. James can't get Carrigan out of his mind, and he's not sure he wants to. The O'Malleys hate the Hallorans, but James can't stay away from Carrigan. But with Carrigan's time running short, James will have to decide is pursuing her is worth it.
Oh James. Oh Carrigan. Usually in romance, I'll like one of the protagonists more than the other - and it's usually the male (hehe). But in this book, I loved both of these protagonists. I felt bad for both of them - they had to make incredibly difficult decisions (some of which had nothing to do with each other), and there was no way I could read this book and not want to give them both a hug.
Carrigan is still grieving over her youngest brother's death (he was killed by a Halloran, but not James). It's been four months and the O'Malley family is splintering, though Teague and Callie's wedding is something Carrigan is looking forward to. Carrigan hates that her father has so much control over her life, and she sneaks out and about a lot. I liked Carrigan in The Marriage Contract but I adored her even more, in this book. She is every bit as strong and decisive and bold close up as she was far away, in book one.
James... I liked him in The Marriage Contract, but that quadrupled in this book. With his father in prison, James is now the head of the Halloran family. Except that he has his wild brother Ricky to deal with, and the entire Halloran empire that is slow to accept his leadership, and the fact that he wants to keep seeing Carrigan O'Malley when all of the O'Malleys are out for Halloran blood. James has to make heartbreaking decisions, and he has to be more than human, to protect those he cares about, including Carrigan. It's so sad to see him running the Halloran empire and trying to make things right, but everyone is misjudging him because of his father's and brothers' deeds
There was no doubt in my mind that these two would be perfect for each other, after reading The Marriage Contract, and it's quite clear that this is the case, after reading this book. James is an alpha male to the core, but he is also sweet and thoughtful and fiercely protective. Carrigan is bold and strong, and selfless too. As I continue reading this series (in mixed up order, mind you) I have discovered that what I like most in this series is the relationships, the tension, and the intense chemistry between the love interests. That should surprise absolutely no one with the fact that this book is in the Romance genre.
But I do have to say that because what I find the novel truly lacks on is....everything else. The relationship and romance portion? Great! But the background and side stories going on with the "family businesses" did not keep my attention. I felt myself trudging through those parts just to get back to the most important part: the romance. I mean, I have not even seen "The Godfather" or "The Sopranos" but I feel like these families are a lot like those characters.
The one plot aspect that I did like with this novel, that I felt was different, was the introduction of this "wedding pact" and the list. True, it was a result of the whole crime-mafia-family thing but I felt it was something that made the story unique.
Overall, I can essentially say if you're looking for something with tension and intense chemistry between the two main characters, pick this one up. If you are looking for a romance that also includes a fairly decent story along with it, maybe pass on this one or just go into it with low expectations.

May 16, 2016DNF at 33%. Just couldn't get into this with all the mob stuff. Also, having to witness Carrigan go on dates with her father's list of candidates for her mandatory marriage did not sound like fun when she only had eyes for James.

Summary

Carrigan hates each one of her options because she knows that each of them are like her father or even worse. But there is one man who takes her breath away...the enemy, James Halloran. Despite their history with him kidnapping her six months ago, and his family wanting her killed. It doesn't change the chemistry they have with each other. James has had to take his father's place as head. But with his father in prison, his older brother dead, he is next in line. There is one woman that he is drawn to, that he can't give up. He doesn't care the danger; he only knows he can't get her out of his system. But what starts out as easy flirting turns into a fight for love and destiny.
The Hero
James Halloran, had one of the worst upbringings a man could endure. His mother was sweet and kind and loved her sons. But when she died, so did anything good in their father. His father was cruel and vicious and turned his sons into his own whipping boys. He trained them to be hard, mean just like he was. But James unlike his brothers, didn't turn evil. He still had much good left in him. When his father's business and lifestyle turned to him, James made a decision to slowly turn them around into something profitable and honest. Which isn't easy, since he has to maintain the image of someone to fear and obey. I always liked James, because even in the first book, you can see how much he is torn in two over Carrigan. From the beginning we find how much he genuinely cares for her. He is a fighter, does what needs to be done even if its not easy....even when it tears him apart inside. But he always does what needs to be done for the right reasons. He has alpha in him, but I feel like James has a bit of beta in him especially when it comes to Carrigan. He slowly woos her in small little ways. He can be playful and teasing, but hard and tough when needed. I liked seeing his determination and strength come shining through in the story.
The Heroine
Carrigan O'Malley is one tough cookie. She is the oldest of the daughters, and has always known how to delay the inevitable by posing a need to enter in the church as a nun. But her father is done, since Carrigan is in her late twenties, and won't placate her any more. She has an ultimatum...one month of freedom before marriage. Not exactly in her plans, but she wants to squeeze in every moment in that month. Carrigan is playful, sexy and loves to go out dancing and drinking and living the good life. She loves to party and mingle with others. Her one weakness is James. What I liked about Carrigan is how creative she can be most especially when dealing with her family. She is crafty but kind and caring. She loves her siblings, and will do anything for them. But the moment James re-enters her life, she starts to fight for her own life even if its temporary...she wants James and to enjoy the precious time they have together. This is what I admired about Carrigan, is she makes the most of the time she has left.
Plot and Story Line
The Marriage Pact is the second in the O'Malley Clan series, and this is Carrigan's story. Now we see glimspes of the chemistry between James and Carrigan in the first book. I liked that Marriage Pact sets off pretty soon after the first book ended. Teague and Callista are getting married in just a couple of weeks. But things heat up between James and Carrigan. At first, they circle around each other, playing with each other and teasing each other. You see that despite their history...they like each other way more than they should. And soon a relationship begins. Its a mix between friendship and sex. They have the hots for each other...no doubt about that.
But there is so much more to them that just lust. They care about each other, but don't admit it for a while. They rely on each other emotionally when the other needs them the most. Both James and Carrigan are going through some emotional ringers, but they back each other up. This aspect to the story is what I loved seeing the most. That despite the fact their families are enemies, they can't help but lean on each other when they are about to crumble from the pressures on them. We also see more from the O'Malley siblings. I still have no clue what I think about Aiden. I think he is a good man but is torn in two trying to help his siblings when he can. We see the way Cillian is torn in two from the death of his brother and some flirting between him and a mysterious woman whom I am guessing is in the third book which is coming out this summer. We also see the other two sisters and their struggles a bit. My heart is just aching for these siblings, and the life they are forced into. It isn't easy as they are being torn in different direction and trying to help each other when they possibly can.
The romance between James and Carrigan is so heart breaking at times. Even from the beginning, you see their interest and sparks...and as you read more, as the reader you become more involved with this pair and seeing their struggles and their triumphs.
I wanted to cry with them and laugh with them. These two were a blast to know, and I definitely was hooked with this book. I admired their strength to fight for one another knowing the odds that they faced.

I am a bit picky about blond men on covers....but he is delicious. I love the relaxed pose....those abs and the hair----LOVE!!

The Marriage Pact is intense, emotionally nerve racking, will send you to the edge and back again and tie you up in knots but will leave you with a smile on your face. INTENSE AND SKILLFULLY WRITTEN!!

Okay, so a few things that are ridiculously interesting about this book. You think you're going to get a typical Mafia story, but you aren't. Not this story. Yes, they are what one would call crime families, but our leads are working to try and improve their families. To move away from the criminal way. Carrigan and James both broke all the rules. They went against the family. But not in a malicious way. No, they wanted to better their families. And they leaned on each other to do it ...
This is also a love story set on a track for disaster with a hero and heroine determined not to end in disaster. It's a modern day Romeo & Juliet with a different end :) It's ridiculously intriguing. I honestly didn't think I would like it as much as I did. It's passionate and fast-paced and will keep you on your toes. Your emotions will run thru the entire rainbow with this story but in the end, you will be smiling ... a lot :)
Family plays an important rule in the Mafia culture and Katee Robert made sure to represent that thoroughly and accurately in this story. Props for her for getting spot on!

Being a big fan of Katee I enjoyed this book just like the rest. It had the drama that keeps you on your toes. The spiciness that drys your mouth. A forbidden romance that'll have you rooting for them.

I read Katee Robert's The Marriage Contract last year and really loved the forbidden romance. In that book, we were also introduced to James and Carrigan's characters, who had so much chemistry, it was palpable whenever they were in a scene. Naturally, I couldn't wait for The Wedding Pact to be released so I could get their story and happily ever after in completion. It's safe to say I went in with lots of expectations and Katee Robert delivered in every single way.
I loved this book so much and could not get enough of the romance between James and Carrigan. Like with the first book, it was forbidden because they belong to rival mafia families. At the start of The Wedding Pact, Carrigan was still mad at James for having kidnapped her in the first book, despite the fact that he let her escape. She has vowed to never have anything to do with him, especially now that her dad was forcing her to choose a husband. Too bad for Carrigan because their chemistry was explosive and there was absolutely no ignoring that. I love it when romances focus equally on the emotional and the physical aspects, and that's exactly what Katee Robert did here. James and Carrigan had such a beautiful relationship here. I loved how they were so open with each other, talking about their fears and insecurities, and in the process making the other better. They were a complementary couple who anyone could see fit really well together.
What made this romance much more riveting was just how likeable both James and Carrigan were. You can't help, but root for their happiness and romance to thrive despite all the obstacles they had to face. Carrigan with her fierce loyalty to her family and strength and James with his smarts and kindness made for an in incredible couple that I shipped with every fiber of my being. Throughout The Wedding Pact, the two of them grew together becoming better versions of themselves. Of course, the steamy scenes laced with banter and bickering were also super hot and entertaining, like I've come to expect from a Katee Robert novel.
The O'Malleys series is also deeply entrenched in family - yet another aspect of this series that I love. The families are complicated, messy, loving, protective and embody everything families are. I was especially grateful to the insight into Cillian's character, whose book is coming next. His POV was honestly soul-crushing because even though the death of their brother in the previous book hit him the hardest. He was consumed his guilt, but no one in his family knew or understood the extent of his grief. I just really wanted to hug this big guy and tell him everything would be all right. I can't wait for more of Cillian!
This second installment in the O'Malleys series was just as brilliant as the first. Katee Robert really shines in this series with her incredible story telling, romance and characters. If you're a romance-addict and have yet to read this one, I urge you to do so. You won't regret it one bit!

This story had a wonderful Romeo & Juliette kind of vibe … two star-crossed lovers ... their Irish mob families are at war … risking it all, even possible death, to be with each other.
Carrigan O’Malley and James Halloran are two serious bad-asses. However, they are both simply products of their environment and really lament the crime family lifestyles they are forced to lead.
Carrigan is faced with the decision of marriage – not that she has a choice of getting married, her father has demanded it – she gets to chose her groom from the short list of candidates selected for her.
James is stepping into the head of the family, replacing his father who’s now in jail – it’s not an easy position, especially with his younger brother threatening to destroy all his hard work.
Overcoming the obvious road blocks may be easier than getting past their personal history – it involves kidnapping and threat of torture and death.
Despite everything stacked against them, there is no denying that they are destined for one another.
A great second installment to an action-packed and darkly romantic series. The stage is already set for book three and I can’t wait to see what Katee has in store for us.

A great second installment to an action-packed and darkly romantic series. The stage is already set for book three and I can’t wait to see what Katee has in store for us.

I liked James and Carrigan from the first book in the series. They explosive relationship in book two carried forward to their own story.
The author does a good job blending romance, the Irish mob and internal family dynamics in this series. At times, I did find certain story lines confusing.
James is now head of his family and must behave as such. He must prove to his family and the others that he means business. His brother has other ideas. He's given James grief for what he perceives as weakness. I liked that James had honor and is trying to take the high road for the family business.
I liked Carrigan and James as a couple but found her to be weak and easily persuaded by her family. I was hoping she would have stood up to her father and brothers sooner rather than later. Her brother was able to find love with a rival family and I was hoping for an easier path for Carrigan.
The stolen moments that this couple had throughout the book were priceless. They were able to drop their performances and just be themselves. I wish there were more of these moments in the book.
The author leaves us with more questions than answers but I look forward to reading more about the group.

The blurb is so promising. But the story is real flat. The chemistry between james and Carigan on the 1st book is so hot and explosive. They stole the show on the first book. But when it is their book, everything is cooling down. So cold that there is no explosive chemistry between them anymore.
The story is also ridiculous flat. The suspense, the crime drama... none. No existence. The flirting is also boring.

This is my first book by Katee Robert, yeah I broke my rule about not starting on a series if I haven’t read the first book, but after reading the description I just had to break it. I mean we have the Irish mafia, an arranged marriage in the works and the whole Romeo and Juliet star crossed lovers thing going on. How could I say no to that? I couldn’t and I gotta say that I really enjoyed the book. I liked the world that’s been created and the people who populate it, even the scary bad ones and really liked James and Carrigan, even though they did drive me batshit crazy at times.
I really liked James from the beginning, though I will admit that had I read The Marriage Contract I may have started out the book with a different opinion of him, but within the first few pages of meeting him I’m pretty sure any negative feelings towards him would have faded. He is a man stuck between a rock and hard place as duty to his family weighs heavily on his shoulders. He is now the head of his family and must take the reigns to keep things running smoothly though he doesn’t really want it. He doesn’t want to become a monster like his father and brothers, but knows that if he doesn’t gain the respect of those under him, which means having to instill fear into them and that fact rips him to shreds, he could end up six feet under.
Carrigan. Oh, Carrigan. She and I had a somewhat roller coaster of a relationship throughout the book. The majority of it was a good one because I could see what a vibrant personality she had and seeing her zest for life being snuffed out was painful. I hated the fact that her father and mother only saw her as a pawn to be used to gain power for the family and expected her to bow down. And while I will admit that I couldn’t help but understand, and even support her little rebellions, but the fact that she tended to act without thinking about what her choices could mean for those around her had me wanting to yell at her to use that intelligent brain I knew she had and think things through first.
James and Carrigan’s star crossed lovers style romance was sweet, sexy, fun, flirty and at times frustrating, but very well done. They knew that based on what had gone on between not only their families, but themselves personally, that they shouldn’t trust each other, but strangely enough they did. They were able to see beneath the armour they both had to wear to survive the world they lived in and saw exactly who the other was at the deepest level. I loved how their relationship grew each time they were together and was shown why they were a perfect match in every way. But while I was rooting for them to get their HEA and loved the way it all came to be, though I kind of wanted more at the end, I wanted to reach out and shake some sense into them. They were so focused on each other that they became blind to what was going on around them and there were a few moments where did the rolling of the eyes/snort thing when they were surprised by the reactions their decisions caused.
As for the writing and storyline, I was hooked from the first page. I enjoyed the author’s voice and thought that the pacing was well done. The twists and turns were done well and there was one in particular that I definitely didn’t see coming until it was revealed. The book is written in 3rd person multiple POV and while there will be some that don’t like it, I honestly enjoyed it. This is a book about a family and what they are going through, so for me I liked seeing things from their POV’s, not only James and Carrigan’s. It gave the world more depth as well as gaining my interest in what will happen in the future with the rest of the cast of characters. So, it goes without say that I can’t wait to get my hands on Cillian’s book, but the one I really want to know more about is Sloan.

The Wedding Pact focuses on Carrigan O’Malley. In Carrigan’s world, daughters are pawns for alliances and power plays. Her father demands complete compliance and gives her thirty days to choose a husband from his list of approved candidates. I kid you not. All of the men are cads, but to disobey her father is unthinkable.
While she is checking out perspectives husbands, her path crosses again with James Halloran, now head of the Halloran family after the events in the Wedding Contract. While this could work as a standalone, those events have me strongly recommending you read/listen to book one first.
James and Carrigan have unbelievably hot chemistry, and Carrigan decides to explore those passions. They play this hot sexy game filled with banter, denial, and disinterest but you can feel the sexual tension. What begins as an emotional escape from reality slowly becomes develops into more. James may be enemy number one in the O’Malley household but he seems to be the only man who likes Carrigan for herself.
Robert delivers a hot and spicy “Romeo and Juliet" romance surrounded by danger, power struggles, alliances and betrayals. I found the world James and Carrigan were born into fascinating. Arranged marriages, women who silently stand behind their husbands, illegal activity laced with legitimate business. Bodyguards follow you everywhere and disobedience will not be tolerated. These men in power are ruthless and death, kidnapping and more are all part of daily life for these warring families. I cannot imagine coming from privilege but finding yourself trapped in a gilded cage. *shivers*
Despite her struggles with family obligations, I enjoyed the progressive growth we saw from Carrigan. Siblings and even her mother surprised me and added to the overall tone of the story. I felt the author did an excellent job of making Carrigan and her siblings reactions to their father and this life believable, while still giving us hope for a better future.
Robert has delivered plenty of suspense and action from Carrigan’s dates with prospective husbands to betrayals within the Halloran clan. Despite the fact or maybe because James heads a criminal family, I loved how Robert’s was able to show me his redeeming qualities. She exposed his softer side and the way he treated Carrigan was sweet. In both novels she has shown this younger generation looking to change or escape the life.
I felt the Marriage Pact had a stronger storyline and romance than the Wedding Contract. Fans of criminal family sagas, forbidden romance, delicious heat and suspense will enjoy the O'Malley trilogy. I am excited for the next story An Indecent Proposal that will give us Cillian O'Malley story. It releases in July 2016 and I will be grabbing the audiobook.

Although it seems she wants nothing to do with him. Of course, you can't really blame the woman. After what happened in the first book. *Yeah, things aren't looking good for you, James.* In his defense, he did "help" her and Callie escape before they were subjected to the Halloran brand of justice.
Carrigan regrets taking the sentimental item on a whim, yet she continues to keep it. Like James, she can't stop thinking about their time together before they realized who each other was...the enemy.
James recently became the Halloran family heir and as for Carrigan, she's always known it would be her duty to marry a man her father deems suitable for business reasons. It seems for Carrigan that time is closer than she had hoped after getting a list of suitors to choose from. Carrigan knows she has a month to get a lifetime worth of living in before she starts fulfilling her familial duty. For her, that means she needs James and it quickly becomes apparent that they need each other, in more ways than one.
Will Carrigan be forced to choose a husband from the list her father approved? Will James actually let her go? Will Carrigan have to choose between her family and the man she loves? Will James and Carrigan risk everything to be together? Will Ricky, James's younger brother, continue to try and undermine James and take over the family?
I highly recommend this book and that you read book one, The Marriage Contract, prior to this one as the stories are connected in numerous ways. Cillian's book is next and we were given a peek at who he'll fall for. I'm looking forward to watch those two dance around what they truly want. I'm also sad though that his will be the final book. I was really hoping we'd also see stories for Aiden, Sloan, and Keira. *hint hint Katee. Whistles innocently.* I was anticipating reading to see how you'd redeem Aiden, because I know you'd be able to pull it off. I'm editing this review, after finishing my happy dance, to say that yes, there are more to come in this series. Katee, you are the best!

James and Carrigan had a pretty much explosive chemistry in the first book, and I'm so glad that their book didn't disappoint! I love how they caved to it (well, James did pretty quickly, it took Carrigan longer to just let go be free get freaky with him), and I love how James became a pivotal support system for Carrigan. ugh I need more of them

What a ride, it was wild, enjoyable, at times sweet, other times messed up but overall such a beautifully told story so much so that my heart sighs at the thought of James and Carrigan, I loved their journey.
I truly love this series and cannot wait to read the next book, An Indecent Proposal.

And mommy Katee never ever everrrrr disappoints. If one of the main characters isn’t actively trying or has tried to kill one another… I do not want it… it’s not true enemies to lovers.
I knew from book one that the love story between Carrigan and James was one I would love because their banter and chemistry was off the charts!!! That bar scene in book one and what happened after 😮💨🥵 PLS IT WAS SO HOT I COULDN’T HANDLE IT. We love a gentleman with kidnapping tendencies but who also does anything and everything to protect said kidnapped FMC.. 🤭🫡 He obviously fell hard and fast and obvs first. He was such a goner from the very first time they hooked up at the bar and it just developed so well from there. Besides… he may be a mafia baby but he is such a huge cinnamon roll with a golden retriever personality 😂 love to see it!!
I was reading this book and at some point had to stop to take a cold shower because when I tell you I seriously could not stop squirming. I have to say I think this series will soon replace Dark Olympus and Wicked Villains for me because if it continues to be as good as the first two books… I shall book arrangements for my own funeral.

Way better than the first one. James and Carrigan's forbidden romance was so intense to read about their ups and downs kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I want so badly to have an enemies to lovers forbidden romance like theirs but I know deep down that I will not so I will just have to continue reading about them. I will be continuing with this series because I need more information with where this family will go.

So...I don't have the energy to pull off a full review, so let's just say I liked it more than book 1, and here's why:
🔥 loved the chemistry and connection between Carrigan and James, as well as the forbidden, almost desperate element to their story
🔥 Carrigan was an awesome heroine, I really felt for her with how she was so resigned to her fate on one hand, and yet so desperately grasping for all the short breaks of freedom she could take; she was a mess, but she was also determined, blunt, vulnerable but strong, not hesitating to take matters into her own hands - honestly, I really loved how she was written
🔥 also especially appreciated how sex positive Carrigan was written as a character, though I'm starting to suspect that's the style of this author, which again - great!
it might seem like a small detail but having Carrigan admit she's had good, and even great sex before James was 👌👌👌 - it's honestly one of my biggest pet peeves when romance authors behave as if heroine having an orgasm or two before she meets the hero is a cardinal crime 🙄🙄
Why not higher than 3 stars:
😬 because I'm a moody reader and I said so *shrugs*
😬 also while overall I thought Carrigan and James were hot, and so was the smut, I found some of the dirty talk to be questionable, as in verging on ridiculous - I'm not sure James was hot enough in my mind to pull it off; ALSO he kept calling Carrigan "lovely" and that pet name and especially that pet name for her - -
😬 in book 1, James and Carrigan fuck in a supply closet of a club, and then five minutes later James puts her in the trunk of his car and KIDNAPS her, not to mention his brother shots at Carrigan's brothers the very same night and kills her youngest brother.
now, that isn't done on James' orders and neither is it done with his knowledge, but the fact remains that it happens - so going into their book, I was expecting and wanting LOTS of animosity between the two, especially on Carrigan's side
and in the end, I don't think I got my share of angst here, and that's my biggest issue with this book - while I loved the forbidden element, and how James was both an escape and a safe harbour for Carrigan, I wanted more antagonistic attitude, more clashing emotions, more conflict - just MORE; because while it was visible that Devlin's death tore the O'Malleys apart, I wanted to see Carrigan work through her grief and maybe even hate James a little bit more rather than rationalize what happened right away
Anyway, I forgot about one more point in the 🔥🔥🔥 column and that is Dmitri Romanov, and despite his very uninspired name, I NEED HIS AND KEIRA'S BOOK NOW. He's hot and ruthless and she's a mess. It will be beautiful.
