Thirty Days Have September

Rate this book
Set in London and Brighton, Thirty Days is a fabulously provocative romance series that gives you a very steamy love affair between a hot guy and an unsure heroine, baked goods and some rather unexpected twists and turns along the way.

Shy and unassuming, Abigail James loves to bake. She dreams of opening her own dessert café but instead she spends her days working as a data analyst and sneaking in her cakes as the company’s ‘diet assassin’ on the side.

Taylor Hudson, the enigmatic owner of Hudson International, has been captivated by Abby’s innocence and quiet charm since the day she started working for the company. However, his history with women is marred by personal circumstances and he has vowed to stay away.

A chance meeting sees Abby’s world turned upside down when, drawn in by Taylor’s chocolate brown eyes and unexpected kindness, she starts on a journey of attraction that will see her heart and soul laid bare.

While their attraction is mutual, both Abby and Taylor have their own inner demons that they need to overcome if their relationship can move forward for them to find their own happily ever after.

Due to the nature of the content this book is intended for mature audiences.

Inspired from a young age, her love for literature started with Enid Blyton and her Secret Seven. Since then a voracious appetite for books has brought her a world full of heroes, love, murder, betrayal and the odd vampire thrown in for good cause.

Having long admired those brave enough to put pen to paper, or in this modern age of computing, keyboard to screen, she has finally started telling the sexy stories that she has been keeping locked up in her head all this time.

3.75 Easy Bake Oven Stars

This is a sugary, chocolate covered decadent piece of baked yumminess of a read. There are baked goods, a hot guy, an unsure heroine, and some rather surprising surprises. The story is set in London so they use all the English slang, which is fine. I would much rather read that than a story written by an English author set in the US where they use English slang. Write what you know.

Abby is the daughter of two very successful models who watch every calorie, travel the world, and ignore their daughter. She majored in business because they didn't think it was prestigious enough to major in Culinary Arts. So she now works in an office and bakes on the side. And I mean bakes...that is her stress relief. I worked in an office in college where food would mysterious disappear from the refrigerator. Abby is the opposite of that...she makes baked good mysterious appear in the break room. The only person she really feels connected to is her grandmother.

Taylor is the owner the company Abby works for. He discovers she is the secret cupcake lady and takes an interest in her. Let's assume its not for her baked goods. Taylor is sexy, rich, driven and seems to just show up a lot. But he has a few secrets of his own. Not of the butter creme frosting variety.

As Abby and Taylor get to know each other, they share some steamy scenes and some very quickly intense situations.

I try to think of what I felt like before I met Taylor but it is as if that girl no longer exists.

There are funerals, muffins, threats, attacks and some surprises. Not a raspberry filling surprise. But more like the pink fluff stuff that you get in the box of mixed chocolates. The one where you want to stick your finger in all the chocolates so you don't get the one with the pink fluff in it. These are not good surprises. You got that, right? And the one surprise? THAT one. I had to go back and reread it. It didn't fit. I thought it was out of character. That was the one think that I didn't like, not because of what it was, but because it didn't fit.

I might have given this more stars, but the synopsis invokes Fifty Shades, Bared To You, etc. Those are some high expectations. The story ends in not really a cliffhanger, but more just a hanger. The title has September in it. The chapters are the calendar days. Cute way to write the story. Except the story doesn't end in September. You have to wait for November. So grab a box of Brownie mix and dig in. Just save some for November.

Is this some kind of weird, "tamed" rip-off of Fifty Shades of Grey? I never even read the book, but I know the jist of it, and Thirty Days Have September sounded a lot like it. I DNF-ed at the 6% mark. It was so fucking pathetic. I honestly cannot comprehend how something like this gets through publishing. Like...HOW? I guess anything and everything can be published today. Who gives a fuck if there's no talent evident anywhere, just waste money, paper, resources and people's time, because why not. Ugh, so sick of these types of books. Have some fucking originality, people. And work on your technique while you're at it.

WOW WOW WOW... 4.5 stars!

This book is set and told with the month of September and I have to keep remembering over and over that 30 days makes this whole story, and a hell of a story it turned out to be!

I received this from the author for an honest review and although I found it a little slow and annoying the beginning I persevered and I so glad I did. This is the story of Abigail James all round loner who works at Hudson International and loves her job but it is not what she really wants to do with her life. Abby loves to cook so she treats the people that she works with amazing cakes and sweets and is know as the diet assassin, although the secret is all her and her Best friend Michelle.

That is until she is busted by a man with gorgeous eyes and a hot body to match. Abby is a bit of a plain Jane even though she is the daughter of worldwide know model parents, and feels straight away for the stranger that makes her heart skip that little bit faster and her body parts hum.

Abby never thought that she would she Mr hot and gorgeous again, but when she is called into a meeting she is face to face with that exact man. Mr Taylor Hudson, owner of Hudson International is taken straight away by Abby and is super domineering towards her and although he knows he shouldn't he pursues her (almost to stalker status). Abby is unsure of the feelings she has for her boss's boss but knows she is deep trouble.

As a terrifying encounter rocks Abby after the death of her Grandmother and the only mother she really knew hers and Taylors worlds are turned upside down. With the funeral over and the will read Abby discovers there was much more to her Nonna that she or anyone realised and when everything that she is and has comes crashing down she ends up in a little bakery with a lovely couple and as things turn from bad to worse Abby makes the final decision that will change and end everything!

I won't go into details because it will ruin it but it had me on edge and I couldn't believe what was really happening. And just as I thought everything was returning to some sort of resemblance of normality one little test puts an end to any dream she had.....

So very well done Bibi, that was amazing now I am hanging for 30 days has November, the next instalment for Abby and Taylor!

What I liked from the read....

"Thirty Day Have September" may have started similar to 'Fifty Shades' starting off but it wasn't and the more I read there were many surprises that came from this novel. Be prepared to be on a emotional ride where you may even tear up a bit from some of the chapters. I thought this novel was very intriguing and was well written producing a enjoyable read with some hot, steamy heat wrenching moments. This novel was really interesting of it being produced in a thirty day concept of twist and turns telling this story. The characters for the most part will keep your attention in this story line and keep you turning the pages till the end. I was sad at the end which was done brilliantly.. only you will soon find that the story left you hanging for the next novel.

I started to enjoy it, it was different. I was even able to respect the suicide attempt bc it's a bit different on the drama/events than what most use. But then it started to get annoying with his neglecting her, her always crying and in the end he walks away. Not a word. Maybe she is better off without him?
Either way I'm not motivated to read more. I'm content that he left and never came back.

Thirty Days Have September is great book with a little bit of everything!

What started out as a steamy love story, suddenly twists and turns leaving the reader in suspense making it hard to put the book down. Love all English terminology and slang!

This is a great book that I definitely recommend! Can't wait to get started on the second book!!!

I was tricked, into believing this was a stand alone.
That is what I get for not looking further into the book.
So apparently the edition I saw did not have the section where it states it's book 1 of 4!
Regardless of which edition, I believe, if the book is a series it should be stated. However for some reason I trust GR and Amazon, should have known better. Well they both failed this time.

OK I'm off the soap box.

The story is great and the editing was great, I only found one grammar error. I finished it in a day, so not very long and its fast paced. The story is well developed for the most part. I can't seem to shake off the feeling that things just moved way to fast between the characters to be realistic, or heck maybe not. If I was that age I might have given in, especially, if like her, I was that inexperienced and naive.

A time or two I was a little lost, I just ignored it and I continue on. The story ends in a small cliffhanger, which I really don't care for, especially since I though it was a stand alone. Therefor my 4 stars, and not 5, was due to the time or two it lost me, cliffhanger, but what irked me was not knowing it was a series, I think that deserves a high 4 stars.

I absolutely loved this book!
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT.

*CONTAINS SPOILERS*

For one, Taylor's name was so awesome because he was a dude and that's very unusual in books.
Second, Taylor was only twenty-five! That's a blessing in itself because most of these types of stories have the male character— who is the CEO of a big company— around age thirty-three to thirty-eight, and the female character in her early twenties. I'm not a big fan when that happens.
Three, Taylor was just an all around great character. He was dominant yet gentle and he absolutely doted on Abby.
Richard made for an interesting conflict, and he added great suspense to the story.
Nicola was such a cutie, I wish we could have learned a little more about her.
I could tell the minute we were introduced to Nonna that she was going to die. I could just feel it. But her death was what really got the ball rolling and I adored whatever information we learned about her.
I was a little confused over Abby's parents. She mentions in the beginning that they're absent and not very caring. She does say that they aren't not caring in the sense of being abusive or malicious, but just rude and uncaring. But Abby's father seemed fine to me. And her mother was alright during the parts where she wasn't raving about carbs and blaming Abby for Nonna's death. Her father seemed to be there for her and called her sweetie and whatnot. So a bit fuzzy on that subject.
I found I had secondhand embarrassment for Abby when she would call her friend Michelle "hon". Maybe it's just me (I am a naturally awkward person), but I couldn't see Abby calling a newly-made friend "hon". It seems like such a granny term. I got a little red-cheeked when she did so.
I fell in love with the scene where Taylor takes Abby to his grandmother's house. Taylor's parents made for great conflict, too. I really got the picture of what Taylor always said about his parents seeing Richard as their golden boy. His parents were a vital part in the dark parts of this story.
Taylor's grandmother was also greatly appreciated, because she could definitely fill the void of Nonna. She was so sweet.
I was addicted to this story. It was quite realistic. I think I'm in love with Taylor myself. I wish we could have saw more affection between the two. But I did love the little glimpses we got of them being sweet together. Like Taylor curling his body around Abby, rubbing her back, hugging her.
I loved near the end when Abby is in the hospital. I just found that her suicide attempt really added a raw edge to the story. It makes it grainy and real. You could really see how desperate she was in thinking everyones' lives would be better without her (even though I soooo don't agree). I liked seeing Taylor vulnerable and get told off by Abby and scolded by his grandmother. I especially loved when Abby talks about waking up curled around Taylor's head laying on her hospital bed, with their fingers intertwined. I thought that was real sweet.
I figured she would get pregnant, because this is a story that is going to face plenty of conflicts in the characters' lives, and what better way to create struggles than an accidental pregnancy. Though I do feel like punching Taylor in the throat for walking out on Abby at the end and not calling her back. Especially after he said he couldn't lose her, and he wouldn't leave her. AND he should know that he has to be there for her, because, um, she just tried to off herself. What a cry for help that was.
One of the things that bothered me was the non-usage of contractions in the characters' spoken sentences. Nobody really says "I do not like that" anymore, it's now "I don't like that". Just a minor thing, but I found I felt like they were robots sometimes. No big deal.
Overall, this book totally had me shaking in my boots while reading it because I was so into it. I loved the plot, and the main characters, and the setting. I'm hoping I can read the second one otherwise I might cry.

Abigail James or Abby for short really loves to bake. She always wants to have her own dessert café but she ends up working as a data analyst in some company.

description

Her parents are famous model and they don’t support Abby’s dream to have her own café because they see calories as “enemy” since they’re model and need to control their body shape.
So, instead of went to culinary school, she went to business school just to please her parents.
But Abby’s grandma support her. She taught Abby to cook, and Abby really close to her.

Abby met someone in her office that ‘caught’ her when she did her ‘mission’ as the company’s ‘diet assassin’. She didn’t know him because she’s still new in that company. Until she met him again in the meeting room and found out that he is Taylor Hudson, her boss. Not only her boss, but he is actually her boss’s boss’s boss.

description

Yes, it’s slightly similar with Fifty Shades of Grey, but it’s different. Taylor is sweet and protective too, just like Christian. But he’s not a Dom.

Taylor is so possessive and protective to Abby. He finds Abby is attractive and since then they have a ‘secret’ relationship. Because it’s impossible to show it publicly since Taylor is clearly her boss.

"You are mine. Mine. And I will protect you at all costs"

description

Everything went smoothly in the beginning until finally Taylor’s ‘secret’ revealed that make everything worse and end up force Taylor to literally “kick Abby out” from his life. From their relationship.

Abby’s shock, angry, and of course sad because she felt abandoned by her boyfriend.

“I’ve always thought that that Bella chick in Twilight was a little overdramatic, but right now I would be more than happy to go find some woods to cry in. Maybe then some handsome wolf-man would rescue me”

description

This book is very well written. The characters and story line are good. Even though in the beginning I found it a lil bit boring but it turns so interesting i couldn't stop reading.
Since the title is "September" the chapters are the calendar days. I find it cute and unique.
And what makes me like this book even more is because the setting is in London. London is one of my fav city after Tokyo イギリス
The ending really make me curious and want to slap Taylor in the same time LOL. I want to read the next book asap!
