The more time she spends with Troy, the android assigned to protect her, the harder it becomes to remember that he's supposed to be nothing more than a machine.
He's attentive, funny, protective, and somehow understands her in ways Daniel no longer seems willing to.
Around Troy, Melody can breathe.
And she's starting to realize just how much she likes being near him.
Ok, to start, I still feel invested and interested in this series. I want to know where the author is going with the plot. Troy is a conundrum I want to figure out.
With that being said, this book was kinda boring to me. The spice saved it, but if you take that out what happened? It was more of what happened in book one or two with small glimpses into different aspects of Troy. It’s like enjoying 20 mins of a 2hr movie.
There are at least 6 books in this series so I’m along for the ride, but so far this book was my least favorite of the three out so far.
As of the characters, the FMC is weak and not that bright, the husband is cruel, the OW is forced, and the other characters including those damn gerbils are unnecessary. Troy is the best thing about the series. He is a big “?”. His changes, I don’t know if you would consider it growth or decline, is what is holding me.
Two things that really bother me: the Korean and Japanese dialog. It didn’t translate at all. I usually can translate while reading in Kindle, but that didn’t work and when I tried to copy and paste into google translate that didn’t work either. So I have no idea what the mom and dad were saying to or about the FMC and they said a lot. ADG needs to include the translation if not right after then at least at the end of the book. #2 is the damn sassy gerbils. I hope they fade away or turn into emotional support silent pets. The gerbils being smarter and more aware than the FMC kills me.
I am looking forward to seeing where this story is going because I honestly don't see a future with the android. When the plot took a turn and the words "white grease" were written, I just about threw up in my mouth.
This story wasn't as aggravating as the previous one, but the main character was very clingy, and she got on my nerves a little bit because she was so careless. On the flip side, I'm glad she finally spoke up to her mother-in-law, because that woman was just too much. And the father-in-law? The twist with what he was doing in Tokyo—oh my goodness!
However, I could completely understand where she was coming from when she said that, at that point, she was just surviving. I felt like instead of hopping all over that android, she needed to put him to work for her administratively. Personally, I'd be trying to find a way to get away from that guy with a nest egg! I'm interested to see what the next book holds. As always, the author dropped a bomb right at the end of the story.
Oh man is the tension climbing at an alarming rate! I couldn’t read this book fast enough as I NEEDED to know what happens next? What happens next?!!! This book was a little slower paced than the first 2. I found myself rushing through a lot of inner monologue. Some things were restated just a few too many times. I couldn’t put this down however, I have officially read all 3 books out in less than a weekend. Yes, they are THAT good!! All in all, I cannot wait for book 4 to come out at the end of October. This is what I get for starting before the series is done. Now I have to wait for not only Sara J Maas‘s book, but this one as well? Ugh!! I’m going to💀while I wait!!!
