Then my car dies on an empty road, my phone loses its signal, and he’s standing among the trees with a knife in hand.

The Skeleton Man wants me frightened.

Tropes: Horror, Suspense, Enemies to Lovers, Holiday, Mental Health Representation, Mistaken Identity, Dark Romance, Interracial
In Trick or Treat Me: A Dark Halloween Romance, Sienne Vega gives readers a darkly unique novella just in time for Halloween, and beyond. The story is told from the POV of Alaia, a seasonal worker at Terror Acres. Along with all the other attractions at Terror Acres simmering beneath the surface are rumors featuring the diabolical Skeleton Man!
When her boss is deleted at Terror Acres, Alaia spends the next five years securing her environment with the purpose of staying hidden from the Skelton Man, convinced that he intends to harm her also!
As the time draws close to the fifth anniversary, Alaia is understandably unnerved as increasingly disturbing events take place. Could it be that he will finally remove the only real witness to his crime or has he come for a different reason entirely?
Conclusion:
While written to coincide with Halloween, Ms. Vega has created a story that will leave readers uneasy and unsettled no matter what time of year it is read! In an effort to stay safe, Alaia has isolated herself from the world, so that she really has limited options should she need help. The story is filled with terror, jump scares and tension as Alaia comes to realize that for all of her precautions, she is still in great danger! This book was an absolute rollercoaster of sheer shock; it was very easy to imagine how one would feel in Alaia’s situation. But I liked that even though she was frightened (understandably so) Alaia was brave and stood up for herself. I also loved that Skelton Man’s end game was not readily discernible; we had to guess along with Alaia 😊. Final words, this book is another awesome story from Ms. Vega and brings heat and visceral excitement to the genre and is NOT just for the holiday.
Favorite Lines:
They might not have seen him, but I did, and he seemed so real.
I stand under the dripping hydrangeas ’til his deadbolt turns, regretting every casserole I ever carried up these steps.
I just have to make it through Halloween.
This is a hunt, and it’s only just begun.
It doesn’t explain why kissing him felt like the inevitable after fighting so hard.
…like all that time I spent running was time he spent planning exactly this.

ARC Review
Trick or Treat Me
Author: Sienne Vega
Release Date: October 23, 2026
Genre: Dark Halloween Romance
Tropes: Stalker, Obsession, Halloween, Primal Play, Forced Proximity
This was my first Sienne Vega read so I wasn’t sure what to expect. For a dark romance this one took an interesting turn. Not what I expected from a Halloween/Stalker story. It was well written and easy to read. The relationship between the FMC & MMC went a bit sideways in the middle and I am sure there are readers who will eat it up. As a pitch-black reader, this was a palette cleanser. This one would be a good read for anyone looking to read dark romance but doesn’t want to get scared away! The spice is written in a way that it matches the story development and isn’t to graphic (for me). Without any spoilers I think there could be a few more chapters after the woods reveal. All and all I enjoyed it.
Triggers: I don’t have any triggers and I won’t helicopter yours. Always check your triggers and be good to yourself.

THE PERFECT HALLOWEEN ROMANCE BOOK

I lied to y’all not. I legit felt like I was watching a scary movie. Make sure yall read this book with the lights on cuz certain scenes had me clutching my pearls in fear (and also arousal😏 turn the lights off for those scenes😝) OMG!!! and the chasing scenes were top notch. I don’t know how these MCs conjure up the endurance and breath control to run for so long, but even I was getting out of breath when I was reading the FMC getting chased🤣🤣 and not to mention that I was literally knock upside the head with the spicy scenes. I mean talk about 180 degree turn🤣🤣🤣
Overall, but overall, this was a cute little short story(and the fact that I used the word “Cute” to describe a dark romance Novella says a lot about me🙃) that I read and literally one sitting because of how anticipating each page was.

Ms. Vega has written a very spellbinding book. Alaia has been living in the shadows ever since she witnessed the murder of her touchy feely boss. She only remembers seeing a hooded figure with a skeleton mass. That's the only description she could give the police. Five years later she is living in a fortress with locks and alarms. She is a licensed doctor and works online. She still has nightmare about Halloween night. Alaia thinks she has seen the masked man and then she finds a pumpkin on her Poarch saying five years. That is when the staff hits the fan.

Trick or Treat Me is the latest from Sienne Vega and it’s definitely a treat! This story is packed with mystery, suspense, spice and some primal play for a little razzle dazzle. Alaia is a survivor of a tragic event involving the Skeleton Man and is trying to live her life after trauma now the anniversary of that traumatic event is right around the corner and spooky things keep happening that keep her on her toes. An absolute must read just in time for the Halloween season.

What a whirlwind. The reveal of the Skeleton Man and his intentions for Alaia was heartwarming. After the paranoia, the fear, it felt good to see Alaia find relief and to see the human behind the skeleton mask. Alaia's interspersed past memories with her current attempts to escape the skeleton man was skillfully done. Like flashbacks to a parallel universe.

Enjoyed this quick read. Nice change of pace and I do enjoy a bit of mystery woven into the plot.

Years ago, Alaia was a witness to a murder. Since then she has moved away and locks herself away behind many locks in the name of safety. But every Halloween, the memories come flooding back of that night. This year it is 5 years since and he is back just like he promised. Who is going to survive this Halloween night and make it to November? A good Halloween read.

What in the Friday the 13th? I will admit that this book had me terrified in the beginning. I was so scared for Alaia, and she had nowhere to turn, nowhere to run. It definitely kept me on edge until the plot twist toward the end. I wasn't expecting that. An entertaining read, especially if you like the slasher genre.

Unique dark romance

Alaia lives in fear after one night five years prior. Now the Skeleton Man is back like he said he would be for her. When opts to leave her of safety the chase begins. This was an unique stalker dark read especially when her memories come back of that night. It was written nicely just wish it was longer.

I enjoyed this one. I felt the beginning was slower-paced. Around the 40% mark is where things really got interesting and sexy.

Suspense, primal play, and a thrilling game of chase? I love when a romance brings that delicious cat-and-mouse dynamic, where the tension keeps building and the chase makes everything more exciting. Perfect for readers who enjoy a little danger mixed with their spice!

Trick or treat was definitely a combination of both. Hiding out for over five years because of what she witnessed at her job and the threat that the culprit would come for her. The story really fit in with the Halloween horror theme. In the end it definitely was a treat for both.
