This is book 2 in a 3 book trilogy. If you have not read Ancient Blood, the first book, you will be lost.
This is the second book in the Vampire Victoria Series.
After a narrow escape from the vampire assassins, Victoria flees to New York City to hide out while she searches for the mysterious vampire that created her.
Looking for Rio at the Dark Side Club only leads to a degenerate sexual experience at the hands of experienced dungeon masters that leaves her trembling in the dark and disgusted with her inner desires for more deviant sex. She now understands the power of the Ancient blood and how it dominates her.
A visit to meet Richard Stone restores her sanity and her ability to feel the pleasures of a man.
Returning to Bridgeport, she learns her powers as a doctor cannot reverse the effects of the Ancient Blood. With her human body being destroyed she is captured and thrown in the Pit of Blood. Bitten and humiliated by Father John, she loses control of herself and is about to be destroyed at the hands of 300 vampires.

Dr. Victoria Taylor is one of the most engaging, fascinating characters I've encountered in ages. And she's a vampire! But she's a vampire whose roots as a human being are so deep -- intelligence, commitment to the health and healing of other humans, professional focus and dedication, her morality and sensitivity, her devotion to her cat -- they are at total war with the vampire nature which is slowly consuming her, commanding her thoughts, actions, priorities, and driving her lust and hunger. It's a gripping tale which is allegorically reminiscent on a grand scale of the battle that rages in all of us between good and evil, between doing the right thing or doing the convenient or more viscerally and immediately satisfying thing. Yet, her vampire nature is not just about the impulses of her transformed self. Rather it's about the fulfillment of centuries-old destinies and the resolution of rivalries that span thousands of years and millions of light years across the vast expanse of the Universe. I had no idea that blood-sucking could be such a journey through metaphysics and mythology. Warning ... the last page of this book will leave you hanging by a thread. There's only one way to survive the suspense. Read "Ancient Power" ... which what I'm off to do RIGHT NOW!
