World: The art is solid, the character emote well and it’s so cute to look at. The world building is okay, it supports the story but there is not a lot of depth, and it doesn’t need it.
Story: Fun little tales of friendship and family. I am really enjoying the relationship between the four young woman and where they’ve ended up. It’s these little emotions that make this series so pleasant to read.
Characters: I love the dynamic that UMR and Slyphy have and it’s wonderfully done. I love the outsider angle that Slyphy plays and how relatable that feelign is. I also love that we spend time with Kirei and her getting out of her shell. Umaru is good, but she does not need a lot of depth and mainly acts as a foil for the other characters to grow. Although I will say her growth in asking the other friends to walk home together was nice.
Loving the friendships that get formed ❤️ It does take me a long time to read because these are shortstories and that makes it harder to continue reading.
Umaru is learning! She's still a secret mega otaku, but she's also choosing to spend time with her friends and her brother. Whether it's eating yakiniku, playing games, studying, or just hanging out; she's taking steps toward being honest with all the new people in her life.
And also maybe learning to make her own decisions about important things.
The fun factor of this series is ebbing away for me. I’m just not enamored with it since most of the comedy just isn’t fresh, it’s rehashed. It’s a shame.
