Review of advance copy
Edit : Rereading for the 2nd times upon release and I think I like now more than i did on the first read on WP.
I can’t wait for Wayne and Amina's book, i'm usually not a fan of reverse age gap but in their case it looks incredible. there's something so delicious about a ruthless career driven lethal woman and a carefree yet loyal golden retriver who's obsessed with her, Cutthroat lawyer x cowboy is 🤌
Johnny's book is also highly anticipated, i need to see that man DOWN BAD ON HIS KNEES FOR A WOMAN
This is proof that MJ Allen needs to lay off the marriage in trouble and 2nd chances.
all her best works are when her fmc get new and better mmcs lol Jameson was a dream.
Wasn't too fan of Mariah's character though, but she wasn't bad
Safety:
- safe, no cheating between the MCs. they were both cheated on by their exes
- both celibate during 2 months seperation, they were both YEARNING for each other.
- Mariah found out her fiancé cheated while she was waiting to walk down the isle, she confronted him then left immidiately. he does show up near the end asking for her back but she told him to fuck off.
- Jameson was married to his ex Shelly for around a decade and divorced for 2 years. he said he married his ex too young as a way to rebel against his family and to also have something that was his own and not shared with his twin brother Johnny. He said he hadn't been in love with her for the majority of the marriage which was miserable, he just stayed out of obligation. he had also been celibate since his divorce and said that he hadn’t been intimate with his ex for the last few years of the marriage. so maybe celibate for around 4 or 5 years before being with Mariah. he left Shelly when he found her in bed with someone else. Shelly also shows up near the end and talks a lot of crap about Jameson and throws a drink at mariah so mariah breaks her nose lol

Are you sick and tired of leading men that lead with their dick to parts unknown? I am getting a little fatigued with the cheating jerks and subpar heroes out there with pages and pages of ow smexy times! GUESS WHAT? The hero in this story is absolutely wonderful! I love him, I love his family(ok his brother took a little coaxing but came around nicely) So if you are looking for a sweet romance with some drama thrown in run and get this now!
So what is this story about? Our heroine, Mariah, finds out on her wedding day via a social media post that the Nashville bachelor party she paid for so her intended could have a good time resulted in him having a one night stand! She dumps him at the altar playing the video for all to see. He wants her back, but she is not having any of it! She gets a reputation as the burn it all bride as her performance at the wedding was filmed and posted as well. She boards a plane a couple of months later for a job interview in Texas. While on the plane she meets “Tex” Jameson. They hit it off immediately but have to take an emergency landing in Nashville!
Basically, this couple have 24 hours to fall in love, and I believed in it whole heartedly. This is not a formulaic insta love story, this is a love story that makes you happy and squeal with delight. They do not exchange real names, and they do not reveal too much about their lives. Jameson is coming off a very toxic marriage that separated him from his family, bankrupted him, and basically destroyed his feelings of self worth. These two connect on a whole different level, and then they connect allllll night long. When it is time to part in the morning, they reluctantly do so. However, each of them feel that given their current state that it would be unfair to embark on anything more. So they go their separate ways, He goes back home to Texas. And she ends up getting a job in Texas. She is a sought after cosmetologist and while working in a shop someday she happens to meet a mother and her introverted teen daughter. She has a connection with the daughter right away, and is asked to come to the family ranch to do birthday makeup….
Do you see where I am going with this? Yep the ranch happens to be Tex’s family ranch, and it is here they reunite. They reunite with her jumping into his arms. These two are soulmates and have been pining for each other these past few months. Not everything is smooth going yet however….his twin brother is skeptical of the heroine as the last woman took his brother away for 10 years. They also have exes out there that need to be dealt with, because they do not want to fade off into the sunset!
But here is the thing, as a couple they are solid! There is never any doubt between them that they are exactly where they want to be, so it is refreshing that the drama are outside forces that either have to be dealt with(and oh boy they are!!!!) or have to be won over!
The whole family ends up being lovely! This story as I read it just made me happy! Like genuinely happy! It didn’t feel cheesy like some stories with insta love as part of the equation. This was a full on story with heart, sad times, scary times, rage times, but essentially the core of it was love all love!
