What I liked most was this story took me on a journey of Nikki's life, of her regaining control, or attempting to. The old saying - if you are not happy, change it, and that's what she did. I loved the situations she got herself into, I had so many laugh out loud moments, and I couldn't put it down once I started. The book focuses more on the female characters which are both strong and well rounded, and the idea of whether life is pre-destined or created by the choices we make. I thought the author asked the question really well, by how Nikki's choices were determined by thoughts of a psychic reading, would her life had been different had she not seen the psychic.

The only fault was the book for me wasn't long enough, I read the first few chapters of Lisa's second book at the end of the first book and just wanted to keep reading. I love the way the book is set out, in bite sized chapters, with quirky titles, Can't Fight Fate by Lisa N. Edwards

I would recommend to anyone who needs a good laugh, and it also may just give you the inspiration to change your life.

Nikki, at age 21, goes to visit a psychic. This psychic tells her in graphic detail all the qualities that her “soul mate” will have and the words of the psychic are imprinted on her mind… “Remember he’s nice to look at, nice to see, but if you chase him, he will flee…”

Fast forward and Nikki is now 38 and still hasn’t met Mr. Wonderful. She decides to follow her friend, Siobhan’s advice, and move from Australia to California, to practice law with Siobhan. While in California, Nikki meets her psychic’s omen, the man named “CJ”, and the twists and turns of the psychic’s revelations begin between Nikki and CJ.

I could totally relate to Nikki, as intelligent as she is, can’t seem to save herself from tripping and falling into anything and everything. The situations this girls puts herself in just had me laughing like crazy. I absolutely love the way the author incorporates Nikki’s asides into the book.

There were two things about this book that I didn’t like: 1. It felt like one author wrote the first half of the book, and another author wrote the second half of the book. The writing was not the same in the second half of the book, as it seemed the wit was gone from the book. 2. This book abruptly ends and really ticked me off. Here I was enjoying the adventures of Nikki, and then poof she’s gone! I am assuming there is going to be a sequel or I am going to be very upset!

In any event, I would recommend this book to romance lovers, paranormal romance readers, and readers who like to enjoy a good book with a laugh.

Thank you to NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun and entertaining book! I laughed out loud multiple times and I also cringed several times because of how embarrassed I was for some of the situations Nikki got herself in!
The question of fate explored is also an interesting one. Is there Fate or is Nikki's choices coloured by what she was told would happen?
Her best friend Siobhan is a great character. She is funny and sassy and although she makes some questionable decisions you find your self behind her hoping she does well.
My only problem with this book is that I wish it was longer! But it's part one of a trilogy so will be happy to read the next parts :) I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait to read more of her novels in the future

I was offered a copy of this book for review and when I read the synopsis, I was truly intrigued. I wasn't let down because it was a brilliant read. Edwards has written a fast-paced, entertaining novel that will keep you guessing as to what will happen to Nikki. Can the words of psychic be helpful or can they lead to disaster?

Nikki is a Hollywood entertainment lawyer and her career is really taking off. It's her love life that isn't where she wishes it could be. It all started with the words of a psychic years ago, telling her she would meet a green-eyed man who would be the love of her life when the time was right. Since then, Nikki has dated several men, none of them turned out to be Mr Right. Now she has a career in Hollywood, can she meet the right man to sweep her off her feet? Should she keep listening to the words of the psychic or should she forge her own path?

Can't Fight Fate is a funny, fast-paced story that had me laughing all the way through. Nikki is a delightful character and so is her best friend Siobhan. Is Nikki's life path predestined? Is she headed for a happy ever after or is there disaster written all over it? You won't know the answer to that until the end.
This is a cleverly written book by Edwards that is easily worth 4 stars. The characters are well developed and kept my interest piqued from beginning to end. The story itself had me in hysterics, but it also had me rolling my eyes at some of the jerks in Nikki's life. I would have liked to have punched one of them in particular in the face.
If you want an easy end-of-summer read, then pick up a copy of Can't Fight Fate today.

I was lucky to receive an advanced copy of "Can't fight fate" by the lovely people at Netgalley.

"Can't fight fate" is a fun story about the journey of Nikki and her determination to find her soulmate. She reminded me of a great friend of mine and I'm sure a lot of people can connect to such a believable strong and often clumsy women. Nikki is searching for love in all the wrong places and one psychic reading changes her belief in fate. I really loved Mrs Edwards style of writing and humor she has added throughout. The choices Nikki makes are crazy and all in the name of finding love. I laughed out loud many times and couldn't put this novel down! Nikki's belief in fate and love is so contagious and downright hilarious.

Unfortunately, my one pet peeve about this book is the story ends abruptly. Just as things were getting started the ending seems rushed. It seems Nikki has found her fated man, she believes it, Edwards makes the reader believe it and then it ends with only the hope that if Nikki ignores him he will come. ughh... Nikki's belief in the psychics words: "Remember he's nice to look at, nice to see, but if you chase him, he will flee." really challenged me to believe things will work out in whatever sequel Mrs. Edwards cooks up. But I really hope Mrs. Edwards is working on a sequel and releases it soon! I hope we can find out about what happens on Nikki's journey and how things work out with her possible soulmate. Did she find THE one or just another flop.

This book was one of the best books I have read in quite sometime!
Without giving too much away, there's one character that goes from living on the top of life, to being arrested by police, it's so true life can change in the blink of an eye based on your choices, I think we have all at some stage made bad choices in the heat of the moment and this character does in the most spectacular way. I also love the Italian influence to one of the characters, my friend experienced something very similar, and at the time she found it so hard to believe and accept. It makes me wonder if the author knows someone that did or that was a first hand experience. It also had so many crazy and funny situations that Nikki got herself into. The only thing in her life going well is her job, clearly she is intelligent enough to be a lawyer, but when it comes to these men in her life, she is so stupid, but it is so comical. I loved it all, and read it cover to cover, I have only ever done that with just a few books. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! worth every single bit of 5 stars and more!

***I got this book from Net Gallery in return for an honest review***
It's not my typical sort of book, but I really loved the characters and could definitely identify with some of the over the top characters (or I have known a few). We've all gone to jelly when we think we've met "the one" and sabotaged our chances by making fools of ourselves. How could you not identify with that? You definitely root for Nikki and hope her story turns out better than yours. So you keep on reading. What makes it worse for Nikki is that this meeting has been predicted by a Psychic. So imagine the pressure? Zany, crazy pressure! Crazy, zany outcomes.

I would recommend this book as I felt as if I was along for the ride, as one of the friends looking in.

Great fun and a good read.

Just wanted to say thank you to Liza N. Edwards for sending me a copy of this book to read and review. Synopsis: A consequential and undesired meeting with a psychic influences the choice and destiny of young Nikki's life, but what was prophesied about Nikki's future, will it truly happened. Nikki was told that she would meet the man of her dreams and was warned "He's nice to look at, nice to see, but if you chase him, he will flee". These words have haunted Nikki here hole life and now that this mystery man is in front of her, what will see do will destiny be kind or will fate have different plans.

This synopsis intrigued me from psychic prediction all the way to fate taking its course to find romance and ever lasting love. However, that was were all the positive aspects stopped. From the first sentence/chapter of the book, I found it really hard to connect with the characters as well as the story line. I wasn't drawn into the purpose of this story and found that every chapter was sloppy and was not relevant at all to what the previous chapter had said. It felt like a child had swapped all the pages of the book and major descriptive events and concepts where left out which normally would draw in a reader. I kept reading the book, hoping that there would be a turning point and I would be like wow this is amazing, but that never happened.

One of the main problems was there was no description or details about the characters or the surrounding environment. This made hard visualise what Nikki and other characters actually looked and the ages and what LA actually looked like. For a reader like myself, I have never been to LA and would of like to feel like I was actually there experiencing events with Nikki. That's what made it terrible. The writing style was really poorly done. The dialogue was so hard to read and follow as most of the time your inside Nikki's head, jumping from scene to scene. It was so hard to keep track of what was happening. New characters were always being introduced into the main characters life. However, these characters where introduced the wrong way. You actually didn't know what relationship or connection they had with Nikki or how these relationships formed. The way it was written made it sound like the readers already knew each character and their history/life story, yet we did not. It was so frustrating when this occurred because it felt life I was meant to understand what was happening between these characters but I didn't. It really felt like the majority of all the important information and story was missing or left out which made it hard to keep a connection or even keep concentrating on the story. I found it really boring to read and I didn't feel the chemistry between the relationships in the story. The story just felt rushed and sloppy and there were a lot of spelling mistakes. What made it worse was I could not relate or correlate with Nikki at all. The way she spoke and her personality and her aspect on the world were unlikable.

I know many of you out there would and most probably love this book but unfortunately this book was not for me.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre:  Romance, Literature/Fiction (adult.)
I read the amazon sample of this, brief as the whole book is only 1397 kindle locations, and it sounded fun. Sadly for me that was the best part of the book. What I was hoping for was a romance with some kind of psychic element following the reading, what I got was what seemed like one long rambling monologue of Nikki’s thoughts, interspersed occasionally with a little dialogue. Its not a format that works well for me, and added to the fact that the sentences were choppy and disjointed, and I found myself lost at several points in the story this book wasn’t one for me. Nikki seemed to mention characters as if the reader knew them, when it was fist time we’d been introduced, Mr Hollywood doesn’t appear until around halfway through the book and then their interactions are brief, mostly some very odd and random texts. I couldn't call what they had a relationship, a romance or even a friendship....
Nikki herself was a curious mix of vulnerable and arrogant. She’s overly brash at times, has a bit of a chip about lots of things and the klutz part, something I sympathise with as I'm one, was forced and overdone. As for Mr Hollywood – well, he was a bit of a washout, we didn’t see him enough to judge what he was really like but what we did see he was a lacklustre mummy’s boy.
It ends very strangely, nothing really resolved and I can see Lisa has a second book planned, but I won’t be reading it. as ever this is just my feelings on the story and I can see already its garnered an enthusiastic five star review on amazon so it shows what one person dislikes is perfect for someone else.
Stars: Two, sorry but a fail for me.

This novella was a difficult read. I am still asking myself what was the plot and ending? The author seemed to start in the middle of a story and then just leave it. The so-called plot goes against my personal beliefs and faith . I don't recommend for young teens at all . Mid twenties may like this obscure story .

Can't Fight Fate by Lisa N Edwards is a story about a woman, Nikki, trying to find herself in the world. This is a cute, fast, and exciting read!

Nikki is 38 and still doesn't have her life together. 17 years prior, she met with a physic who told her all about her perfect man. Nikki now lives in LA with her best friend, Siobhan, and sets out to find herself and her perfect man. She gets a good job and goes on a few dates. Nikki thinks she is destined to be with a beautiful green eyed man, but is the physic right? Can a physic determine fate? What if Nikki's fate is headed in a different direction? She will soon learn that you can't fight fate.

Edward's characters are very relatable, especially Nikki. Aren't we all just trying to start our careers and find the perfect partner? There is tons of drama in this book, along with juicy gossip. We get to see the struggles of Nikki and Siobhan, while they love in LA! Each and every struggle, once again, is very common and very relatable.

I am so happy that I already have the second book in this series. I will be starting it as soon as I post this review! Everyone go read this series!

Thankyou to Goodreads and to Lisa N Edwards for a copy, and also for the lovely hand written note in the beginning.

When I started reading I immediately connected to Nikki, heck she could of been me, deciding early on how her life should be, how she would get there and who with. I resonated with her wrong turn relationship.

But then at the point she moved to LA , I started to lose interest and to be honest became very frustrated with the story, Oh i get the falling hard part, but there was so much missing in the relationship with CJ I didnt feel that there was any sort of relationship. The book seemed to just bypass any relevant information and emotion.
And then a turning point and he explains his behaviour, and she shoots him down flat.. Isn't she "in love" with him, and the explanation was good and for heavens sake I know communication is not always easy but they spent alot of time together supposedly. " they never had an honest converstion" it was at this point I thought , this is being dragged out for a sequel and I was right. I am so sorry Lisa but the relationship was not believable at all to me..

When starting this book, I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't think it really fit into the genres I usually read, but I'm glad I went outside the tunnel of reading I have spent the last few years choosing from.

The book flowed well and contained relatable characters and relationship issues. The story twisted and turned and kept me guessing as to which way it was going to end.

Being part one of a trilogy, I knew that not everything was going to get resolved in the first book, but "Can't Fight Fate" certainly offered enough to leave me eager to continue following Nikki's story through books 2 & 3.

Note: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I felt that this book was a bit jumbled and disorganized. Perhaps that's simply because it is an advanced copy, but it didn't flow correctly. The description sounded intriguing, so I had high hopes, however, it just didn't gel in my opinion. I didn't care for the characters, I couldn't make a connection with them. I wish I could recommend this one, but sadly, I just didn't enjoy it.

What a great fun read, great story and lovable characters.
I was hooked from start to finish.

Lisa captured really well the internal dialogue and modern day struggle of a hard working women dabling in dating in this day and age and trying to find the one. Was very relatable.
Was great to escape into Nikki's world each time I opened up the book and has left me hanging for Chasing Butterflies!

Melbourne, Australia-Los Angeles, CA. Nikki Kirkpatrick (Aussie, narrator, entertainment lawyer, JD) has just graduated with her law degree & Siobhan Barry (lawyer, Nikki’s BFF) insist she come visit her.
Siobhan is also employed at The Avenue of the Stars.
They are the biggest literary & actors agency in the world.
Gorgi (PA) announced that Mr. Stone & Ms. Jordaine (Jordaine, Stone & asso.) co-owners would like to meet with Nikki.
Black Magic restaurant. Alex, Nikki, Siobhan & CJ (m) were going to party like there was no tomorrow.

Who is Thomas Montague?
What news did Siobhan have for everyone?
Hollywood life filled with ups/downs, wild parties, romance/break ups, & what one’s future might/might not be.

A fast-paced humorous but serious book, I enjoyed reading.

Warning: This book is for adults only & contains extreme violent or graphic adult content or profanity &/or sexually explicit scenarios. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written Hollywood life style book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great Hollywood life style movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

I won this novel from Goodreads Giveaways.

Lisa N. Edwards' Can't Fight Fate is a bit outside my usual reading fare, but I was intrigued by the psychic angle and thought I'd give it a shot when I saw it had a giveaway running. Although I did have a couple problems with the story (there was some unevenness to the plot between the first and second half of the novel and the ending is very abrupt) and struggled here-and-there to maintain my focus, the structure of the novel with it's short, cleverly titled chapters lent the story a momentum that I really came to appreciate. It's a device I'd love to see more often in shorter novels like this.

I also appreciated the first-person narrative used here which lends a level of intimacy to our main character Nikki and facilitates the reader's ability to relate to her quest to find her green-eyed soul-mate as foretold by our rhyming psychic. Nikki is an engaging, enjoyable character as is her best friend Siobhan and I enjoyed the time I spent with them. It all comes together in a light, fun read. Maybe a little too light for me, but probably a perfect summer read for many a romance fan. Three stars.

I won this book through the GoodReads Giveaways and I was excited!

I think that this book is charming, funny and a fun an easy read. Calling this an easy read is by no means an insult, if anything it's a compliment because you breeze on through it! It is flirty, and makes the reader be invested in the story. I like how Nikki is presented, and her personality. I think the book does a solid job of capturing that element, which adds to the overall plot!

I like the concept, the voice and engaging quality of the book. I think that there is a lot of good that happens in this book and makes it worth the read. The biggest issue I had was that this book seems to jump around a lot, and there are things that I think could have been developed a little further. sometimes I had to go back and reread something because it didn't seem to flow. However, other than that, I thought it was a great read.

This was an entertaining book, although it had quite a few errors (punctuation, wrong word, two words combined into one, etc.), and seemed to careen from the expected to the completely bizarre. I couldn't decide if the book was really about the narrator or her friend, Siobhan, for it was Siobahn who finally got her act together (sort of) at the end.

I won this book as part of a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.

Nikki is a 38 year old entertainment lawyer who is looking for "The Guy." Having visited a psychic 17 years prior, she was told about the man who could be her future husband. She's been looking for him ever since and now she thinks she may have found him. But will things turn out the way the psychic said or will Nikki find that no one can predict the future?

Well. This was a tough one. I'm going to be honest. Initially I did not care for the story or any of the characters at all. I thought the writing was jumbled, disorganized, and choppy. The main character, Nikki, comes off as completely juvenile and far from professional considering she's an attorney. Her best friend is annoying, selfish, and extremely unlikable. Neither of them seem capable of being a competent adult. Because of all that, I almost put the book down and marked it DNF. However, I convinced myself to read just one more chapter. Then suddenly I read another. Then another. I'm not sure what happened, but unexpectedly I found myself interested in the story. I became amused. Found myself laughing....and at times cringing. But no longer with annoyance. Even though I still found her to be a far cry mentally from an average 38 year old woman, I started to like Nikki. I do have to admit though that I continued to dislike her friend and consistently questioned their friendship as I just didn't feel the relationship there. But Nikki.....poor love struck, starry-eyed, Nikki. She was suddenly likable! Sure she's a bit dense, drinks too much, and falls in love way too easily. I mean she gets all upset over a guy who she doesn't even know. But you start to feel for her. I honestly can't say I relate to her in any way which might be why the book didn't work for me at first. Having married my high school sweetheart 26 years ago, I was not one who was immersed in the dating scene. The more I read however, the more I could understand her desperation to find someone who loves her the way she wants to be loved. Don't we all? In the end I ended up enjoying the book far more than I did at first and was able to get in sync with the writing style. It went from what was sure to be a one star rating to a three. The only thing I couldn't really get a passed was the ending. As others have said, it was abrupt with nothing wrapped up. I'm assuming the story will continue and lingering questions will be answered as the author has written 2 other books in this series. I just wish this one would have given us a little something more.
