For a step brother romance book this was pretty moving. The story of Brandon and Samantha was one that really had quite a bit of heartbreak for both of these people. Samantha’s dad married Brandon’s mom after her mom had died. These two were the best of friends and shared with each other the hopes and dreams that little kids have. Then Brandon’s mom died expectantly and his estranged dad just showed up one day and took Brandon away from the only true happiness he ever had.
Now fast forward and Samantha is a defense attorney who gets a strange call about going to the jailhouse to help someone out of a bind. Lo and behold it’s Brandon who had no idea it was going to be his Sammi that shows up to defend him. There is no way he wants her involved in his life because of the danger that surrounds it. So is Brandon able to get rid of Sam before some very bad people find out that Sam really means something to him or have their longing for each other and what they shared strong enough to bring them back together again? This is a great storyline and still gives you some pretty sexy chemistry that goes on between these two.

Beautiful story! The premise caught my attention swiftly, but it's the writing that mesmerised me and gave me goosebumps. I admit I have a weakness for impossible romance that really tears hearts apart, and if there is jail or crime involved, oh yeah. And the first scene is just perfect setting for this.
Samantha is hired to defend a criminal, but she comes face to face with her stepbrother. Fifteen years apart and he's become a muscled, tattooed giant. Oh, the feelings! The double POV lets you into the mind of these two lonely characters who have drifted apart against their will. I would feel their sadness, the sweet memories they shared of their younger years together, and that deep, painful, bittersweet longing they have for each other.
There are many aspects I loved: Samantha's brave and honourable spirit, Brandon's rough criminal life, and his tender need to be the person he was with Samantha in the past, the poignant dialogues, the barely contained chemistry, and the suspense plot that puts both characters in dangerous situations.
Again, this author has surprised me with a lovely story full of feelings, action, and wonderful characters that strike me as real as myself.

Brandon sees his beautiful step sister in front of him and knows if he allows her to defend him, then her life will be in jeopardy and he pushes her away and sends her away. But Sam doesn’t run far.
In this story you have mystery of why Samantha’s estranged step brother is back in town, there is action, and a smokin hot love making sex scene and a wonderful HEA ending. I enjoyed getting to know all the players involved but there were some parts that when you read the story , you will feel would wish Brandon could have gotten satisfaction. Other than that, this is a terrific standalone story.

Free download. This book had me gripped, I finished it so quickly. The story is about Sammie and Brandon, step siblings for only 2 years before tragedy rips them apart and they don't see each other for 15 years. Sammie is asked to represent a client arrested for assault and comes face to face with Brandon. Her feelings for him haven't changed although they're now stronger and have gone from just step siblings to something else. Brandon can't believe the woman he's seeing is Sammie and knows he needs to send her away, protecting her from his world but can you really stay away from your fate? I loved this story, quick, fast paced, exciting, loving, romantic and sexy. The characters are good, the story, plot and writing are perfect and keep you locked in the story. Perfect angst, hot sex scene, not over the top. Great ending. Would recommend.

Very good , and great story. I loved the the Bran tells his part of the story.Sammie is so in love with him and determined to find him and save him. Bran has his Sammie back but seeing her get hurt due to his lifestyle is too much. But she is not giving up. There is great sex between them, but I would have enjoyed a little more.

Within the first several pages of this book, I found myself with tears in my eyes. Escape is one of those books that has you on an emotional roller coaster ride. Although it is a short read, it was emotional, captivating, and sensual with some hot, steamy sex scenes to keep you turning the pages. And of course thrown in a good looking bad-boy with a HEA, and you got an amazing story.

Sammie and Bran were ripped from each others lives at a young age. Step-siblings and best friends separated with no further contact.
15 years later one phone changes both their lives. They are different than they used to be, but pieces of them remain the same. Still, they can no longer look at each other the same way again.

Not a bad read. Stepbrother who was torn from his loving family, his stepsister and stepfather, after the death of his mom by his biological father. 15 years later he is working for his father who has used him in his criminal activities.

2 1/2 stars (rounded down to 2 stars, because I didn't like how "passive" Brandon was - I mean, he shouldn't have stayed in his shitty life with his shitty father without even trying to become a better person for such a long time)

This book was a surprisingly enjoyable short read... in fact, almost better than the main book (Huge X2) it’s connected to.
The story is well put together, and Brandon’s reintroduction into Samantha’s life felt natural and unforced, which is not always easy to pull off in a novella. Both characters had a decent amount of depth and personality, enough to make me care about them beyond the steamy moments.
It’s exactly what you’d want from a short, spicy read (quick, steamy, and satisfying), without feeling rushed or empty.

I really liked the story, but got irritated that even at the end, ten months after the events if the main story transpired, Sammie was still thinking of Brandon as her stepbrother...even after they'd been slept together, moved in with each other and became official! I mean, their parents were only married for two years when they were children and it was FIFTEEN FREAKING YEARS AGO! You're married to the dude now. Why are you STILL thinking of him as your stepbrother?

Needs more details
This book was severely lacking. I felt I went from point A to point D without explanation in between.
It seems like it was the bare minimum to tell the story with what was written.
I do recognize that this was one of Brothers earlier works but maybe she should pick it back up and rewrite or reedit to add some things.
