Admiral Jack Romanoff has a new to rule the Kingdom of Terra. That means he cannot see the fight against the Kingdom of Kastelara to its end. Luckily, he has spent years training his protegees in the art of war, and they are eager to finish things with their foes once and for all.
The time for payback has arrived.
Derek Calvo, now an admiral in his own right, commands the fleet sent to take the treacherous humans of the other kingdom down before they can turn their full attention to Terra and the rest of humanity. His wife, Amanda, the youngest admiral in the fleet, has his back every centimeter of the way.
They came to fight and win, but fate never plays fair.
They brought two dozen brand new battleships to overwhelm the Kastelarans before they knew what had hit them. Only the situation isn't as clear-cut as they had hoped. There was a joker in the deck that might see all of humanity collared and enslaved, foes or not. Luckily, Derek learned from the greatest war leader humanity had ever known, and he will never bend the knee.
When The Last Hunter appeared to finish Terra was at peace but the future threat of the Kingdom remained. A spy ship had left and was expected to reach the Kingdom in 10 years and Jack and the others are working on a plan to get to the Kingdom first and stop them from sending an invasion force. Much of this story deals with the planning and preparation of Terra's forces, though the end portion deals with what transpires on the trip to the Kingdom. Jack is remaining on Terra and so the others we are familiar with come to the fore. Preparation, plans, intrigue, suspense, battles and more abound in this enjoyable continuation of The Last Hunter saga. Another welcome return.
Chaney and Mixon know how to turn out exceptionally well written and exciting storylines that keep you engaged and wanting more. Between book 16 and 17, a lot has happened! Some years have passed and the “new” Kingdom of Terra has finally had time to build new battleships and train personnel to operate them. It time to take the battle to the enemy, back at Patrick’s home worlds of the kingdom of Kastelara. Here we go again! Buckle up Buttercup!
After this long, I should really know how well these books are written. But I thought you know what else can he write about in the storyline? Everyone was safe in a story. Boy was I wrong! I look forward to the next book. Kudos to the authors.
