Described by critics as "one of our strongest thriller writers on the scene," author Kenneth Eade, best known for his legal and political thrillers, practiced law for 30 years before publishing his first novel, "An Involuntary Spy." Eade, an up and coming author in the legal thriller and courtroom drama genre, has been described by critics as "One of our strongest thriller writers on the scene and the fact that he draws his stories from the contemporary philosophical landscape is very much to his credit." He is often compared to John Grisham, whom many regard as the master of the legal thriller.

Says Eade of the comparisons, "Readers compare me in style to John Grisham and, although there are some similarities, because John also likes to craft a story around real topics and we are both lawyers, all of my novels are rooted in reality, not fantasy. I use fictional characters and situations to express factual and conceptual issues. Some use the term 'faction' to describe this style, and it is present in all my fictional works."

Eade has written twenty novels, which are now in the process of being translated into ten languages. He is known to keep in touch with his readers, offering free books and discounts to all those who sign up at his web site, www.kennetheade.com.

The title is what drew me to this one initially. In this day and age of computers and electronic technology, Killer.com just held all kinds of connotations and my mind went flying all over the place. My many thanks to the author who supplied a digital copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Although this is Bk 5 of a series, it is great as a stand-alone.

Brent Marks was bullied when he was a youngster in school. He swore he would never back down or cower from a bully again. Today, he is a lawyer. And true to his word, he bows down to no one.

We've all heard of cyber-stalkers. Brent has his 'fans' ... fans of the scary kind. These anonymous posters use the internet to post horrible things about him. When Brent decides to take the web site to court, he finds that stalkers hide behind immunity. And there's nothing he can do.

When a new client dies by suicide, Brent is suspicious. The same cyber-stalkers that have been at Brent's neck has attacked his client. When he pushes for a second opinion regarding the client's autopsy, it is found that the client was murdered.

When Brent and his investigator get too close to the truth, he finds himself charged with murder.

Will anyone believe his story? Can someone really be able to 'erase' another human being just by visiting a website? How could you prove it? And who is The Ghost who seems to be in charge?
Very engaging story line. It may be fiction ... but what if it isn't?

Brent Marks is such a likeable character. He's brash and rude when it's called for. But he's also smart and dedicated to his craft. His girlfriend is an FBI agent, his investigator is ex-FBI. They are both very credible in their roles. I even like Brent's crusty old lawyer.

Just for kicks I went online to see if there is such a thing as killer.com. This is what I found ...... http://www.killer.com/.

Another excellent book by Mr Eade.

Internet lets us see what's going on any where in the world, also communicate with any body. In the case of Edward Snowden exposed what really goes on. Subject of this book is bullying, with the internet rules are changed. Humiliation and hate has broader audience, spreading lies and rumors so easy. But the laws are still trying to catch up. At the end of the book has all the information and websites are listed. Thank you Mr Eade.

Another Legal Thriller Blockbuster from Kenneth Eade

Kenneth Eade may be best known to readers as the author of BLESS THE BEES: THE PENDING EXTINCTION OF OUR POLLINATORS AND WHAT WE CAN DO TO STOP IT, and A BEE, SEE: WHO ARE OUR POLLINATORS AND WHY ARE THEY IN TROUBLE? - two superlative books about his concern for our environment – both ecological and humanitarian - a topic he takes to the top level in this superb novel. Eade is an international business lawyer, based in Los Angeles, specializing in international law, Internet Law, appeals and complex litigation. He is a member of the Bar of California, the federal District Court for the form Kennerth Central District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. He holds a Juris Doctor in Law from Southwestern University School of Law, and a B.A. in Liberal Studies from California State University, Northridge. He is also an accomplished filmmaker and a freelance writer for the Los Angeles Daily Journal and an environmentalist.

And given this introduction it should not come as a surprise that he has added the crown of rising suspense thriller to his resume. THE INVOLUNTARY SPY was his first, followed by PREDATORY KILL and A PATRIOT'S ACT that moved into the world of terrorism and the military's treatment of suspects who may possibly have ties to one of the several countries with whom we are at odds in the Middle East. UNREASONABLE FORCE brought back his established character Brent Marks (Marks is the Americanization of his true last name, Marquez, which indicates the flavor of this potentially controversial book), the lawyer who yearns for cases more interesting that those assigned to a `poor man's lawyer', who is given his wished for opportunity to right a wrong. Now in KILLER.COM ‘Murder is a mouse click away. What if killing someone was as easy as clicking a button and nobody would ever know? Would you do it? A mob of anonymous cyber stalkers torments lawyer Brent Marks with defamatory posts on the Internet in this latest installment of the legal thriller series. When Marks sues to enjoin their libelous publication, the stalkers hide behind the immunity of the Communications Decency Act. Then a mysterious anonymous killer for hire arrives, and Brent finds himself on the wrong side of the law’.
Eade's skill with writing dialog is brilliant. His technique for propelling a story forward is second to none. Bind a controversial subject of contemporary reality of tolerance, racism, prejudice and violence in American society (what topic could possibly be more timely?!) and a good old-fashioned thriller and you have Kenneth's next step into prominence in the public's eye. Eade is not only a brilliant writer; he also calls attention to the atrocities that surround us, hiding in our own closets. He has carved his niche and thankfully is continuing this series. Once you read an Eade thriller you can only be eager for more. Highly recommended.

Cyberbullying takes a harsh turn into reality

I don’t really like just jumping into a series midway because I feel like I’m going to miss a lot of small details and character development from the other books. I was offered this book to review, I was a little worried at first but it was written in such a way that you don’t need to know the main character in and out to understand that story and his motives.

This was one of those books where I thought I had things figured out, but I was totally wrong. It’s nice when as a reader I can be surprised like that — especially with how much fiction I read. It was definitely a mixture of mystery, thriller and technothriller with a lot of focus on technology.

My favorite part of the whole book was Brent Marks ideology surrounding cyber-bullying. He was bullied as a child (as was I) and he swore/promised that he wouldn’t allow himself to back down from a bully himself.

The way that the story progressed reminded me of the really good Criminal Minds episodes that I enjoyed so much — trying to figure out the who and the why of the situation.

Overall, this was a quick and enjoyable read from Kenneth Eade, and I may be looking back to some of the other Brent Marks stories now that I’ve finished this one.

Thrilling story!

I really like the Brent Mark books. The cases are easy to get involved in, and the trials make me feel I am part of the gallery watching. This is a good mystery and it also is a great insight into Cyber-billing.

I like legal thrillers very much. Brent Marks was a lawyer who was trying to maintain his office and his reputation against an unknown assailant of the internet. The person or persons were using the internet to defame his character and his legal reputation. Brent was already involved in a court case against the network provider. To no avail, he still wasn't able to find out who these individuals were. He would discuss these issues with his FBI Agent girlfriend, Angela. He finally obtained a client who was going through the same thing he was going through with his chapter being defamed as well. The client, Mr. Bekker, wanted Brent to use his investigator to find them and then to sue them. What a task, especially since Mr. Bekker was found dead, an apparent suicide, or was it, and there were issues with his will. So what would Brent find out? Was it suicide or murder? What will happen with his will? He would have his investigator delve info the Dark Web for an answer. I won't spoil the rest for you. There is a surprise here that you will just have to wait to find out. I liked the characters and the storyline. However, the ending left me totally surprised, as I didn't really see an ending. There was no real climactic ending. Will they find the killer? The ending really needs to be more beefed up in my opinion. Review provided by Hot Box Reviews I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

This is the second book I have read by this author - very different from the first but equally enthralling. He does so much research for his books they come alive. This book explores the goings-on in the "dark web" and how a group get together to hire a killer .. and the lawyer that gets caught up with the shenanigans..

I was particularly interested with his last words on how the old adage "sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you" is obsolete in this new world of internet and social media and cyber bullies. These cowards can stay anonymous but every day you hear about how their words destroy people's lives.

Well done Kenneth Eade :)

This is not a long story, but packs a lot of detail into the pages. It shows what can result when the dark web is used to advertise and sell criminal services, including murder. The results of internet bullying by anonymous trolls are fear and frustration, especially when the law cannot be used to identify or stop false and evil postings. The book includes exciting action, a suspenseful trial, and a final essay on the issues of criminal advertising on the dark web.

I am new to Eade's writing. This is he third book I have read in the Brent Marks series and I must say I am entertained. A lot of times I know the ending to books that I am reading just on instinct: what the writer makes available and what is hidden.and so on. But Killer.com was not as easy to predict. I guess I am saying I appreciate the fresh perspective he brings to the table. If you are looking for a good mystery novel that is also a legal thriller this book is not a bad choice at all.

Story was interesting and well developed. Through the character of the defense attorney, I learned a lot about legal strategies even though the case against the defense seemed so damaging. Recommend this book; fast reading and held my interest.

Interesting to see that the defendant and the accused was an attorney himself. The author describes how difficult it is ion the other side.

The 'SCARY' Dark Web

Certainly an eye opener of a plot as it deals with the implications internet can have on one's life. Hire to erase scheme is too scary to even imagine, yet the dark web exists.
If you are a fan of law related novels, then read this one for sure.

A most unusual story based around the Dark Web, which most internet users know nothing about. Despite this, I found the story most interesting

This was definitely a book worth reading. It was well-written; the characters were interesting and worth getting to know, and the subject was interesting and sobering. It was hard to put down (which is very important to me) and I rate it 4.7 stars.

FULL REVIEW FROM MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW

Killer.com is one of the most intriguing thrillers on the market, combining the best elements of a courtroom drama with a detective piece and including contemporary issues (such as online hire-for-death companies) to conclude with discussions of real-world cyberstalking and its intricate nature.

Because its drama and events are based on true scenarios, Killer.com offers up a powerful authenticity and contemporary focus - but what makes the story especially outstanding is its attention to crafting a complex series of scenarios holding firm psychological foundations based on superior protagonist development.

The use of the first-person helps; but even more effective is its focus on modern technology's uses and abuses, which evolves into a powerful theme that uses psychological profiles and events to create a compelling saga.

Readers should anticipate (and have a prior affinity for) much courtroom drama as well as revelations about the protagonists' personal lives. Those who enjoy Grisham and other legal studies and who appreciate more than a dose of reality in their fiction reads will find Killer.com to be one of Eade's most powerful works yet, providing a scenario firmly grounded in real possibilities and powerfully enhanced by a questionable, surprise outcome in an exquisitely well-done, complex thriller! A nice quick read, some unfinished business though.

It got going pretty fast, not a lot of introduction to the characters or setting. I jumped in on the 3rd book though, because the prior titles weren't available through kindle unlimited, so this could be the explanation for that.

I was definitely not satisfied with the ending. I think the flow of this book in general was a little too jerky. At the beginning we jump right into our main case, but that turns into another case, then suddenly we're at trial, then the book ends with unanswered questions.

I wouldn't have read them out of order but had read something stating that each book stands alone. I might try one more from this author.

Killer.com shines a whole new light on what the internet and the person behind the keyboard can do. This book was fascinating from page one to the very end..One of the best mustering/thriller books I have read.
There was some dull parts but that certainly didn't take away from the rest of the story.

Brent was a lawyer who took a website to court. This website was behind all the horrible things that were said about Brent.
When one of his clients "commits" suicide, he starts to dig deeper into who is behind it..

That is until he is charged with murder. So now he is battling his own legal troubles while trying to solve his own case.

This book was fantastic. I am so glad I got the chance to read Killer.com.

The book was great. The characters were likeable. I couldn't put it down.

Fabulous Book!

This is the first book in this series I've read. As soon as I finish this review I am going to download the first one and jump right in. I loved everything about this book-the characters, the plot, and learning more about the cyber bullies out there. I was hooked after the first sentence and stayed hooked until the last. Keep writing Mr. Wade and I'll keep reading.

Goodread and eye-opener.

Interesting reading as well as being entertaining. This novel provokes food for thought regarding the Internet and how the underworld uses it for it's purposes.

The title of "legal thriller" is a misnomer; the novel was rather bland. It was hard to sympathize with the lead character who was an innocent of the murder for which he was on trial.
