Ashley Davis Bush published Transcending Loss in 1997. Since then she has grown her Transcending Loss brand by becoming a sought after speaker for professional conferences and by reaching out directly to the bereaved through online communities where she has established tens of thousands of followers.
In her new book Hope & Healing for Transcending Loss, Bush offers daily readings—bite sized lifelines and glimpses of hope for those coping with the death of a loved one. The book comprises a brief introduction, a brief conclusion, and 365 daily meditations, plus a few additional pieces for particularly difficult occasions like death date, birth date, anniversary, holidays, and more. Scattered throughout are calming photographs for further contemplation or stillness.
Bush’s writings focus on normalizing and validating the incredibly painful process of grieving. She offers a compassionate perspective on staying connected to the deceased, focusing on love, living with gratitude, channeling pain to compassion, transcending loss, making meaning, and living into a new self.
I am a licensed psychotherapist in private practice now living in Antigua, Guatemala. I am also the author of 10 self-help books.
In my clinical work I focus on helping individuals cope with loss, heal from trauma, find inner peace, navigate life's transitions and on helping couples improve their relationship.
My background: I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Smith College and a Masters in Social Work degree from Columbia University. Early on, I worked in community mental health in New York City later wrote, lived and practiced in southern New Hampshire for 22 years.
I, with my husband Daniel, have 5 grown children who live around the globe.
I enjoy singing and perform with local choral groups and community theaters.
The loss of my father was unlike any other loss I have ever experienced. Although I felt at peace with all that I had done for him throughout the last few years of his life, and took solace in the fact that he was no longer in pain, I needed to put my feelings into perspective and this book helped me do that. This book will take you on a day-to-day journey to healing; it will give you the right words to express the new feelings you may be having - from guilt to depression to peace and everything in between. I loved this book so much and found it so helpful that I sent my 2 sisters the book in the hopes that could find the peace and healing that I was able to find.
My favorite part of this book was learning new terminology, like Angelversary, which really helped me get through the anniversary of my dad's passing.
