I want Star Force 13!

As I was reading this book, I thought about how I liked Kyle Riggs a lot more than his son. But, by the end, I'd begun to like Cody more. I still think that the first Star Force books were best, but I definitely am a huge fan of all 12.

I must implore the authors to continue the series. Here is my ultimate plot for 13: Kyle comes out of retirement, and joins Cody on the expedition. Along the way Marvin finds a hidden stash of the microbes used to enhance Sandra, and he is able to clone her in the body of a superstrong nanotized elladan shape shifter.

The force also has Kwon (of course), centaurs, raptors, ketans, and maybe a friendly young ancient.

So, let's go Larson, it practically writes itself!

This may be my favorite sci-fi series, at least on pay with the Hu, an chronicles. Space opera fans need to read all 12.

Significantly less well written than earlier books. But still worth the read.

This is the conclusion of the Kyle/Cody Riggs series. I didn't know that up till the point it ended. The book is going great to the moment where the whole series is wrapped up quickly in the last 10% of the book leaving you unsatisfied.
Nice book, bad series ending.

I completed the series as I’d already purchased the audiobooks, but the characterisations, particularly of women, I found frequently repugnant. The protagonists were rendered as heroic but I found them petty and self righteous, and yet I never got the hint the author intended such a portrayal. Elements of the books suffered from being rushed, and there was frequent repetition.

That said these factors were offset by some intriguing concepts, fun aliens, and decent Sci-fi. In the end, it was a series that always seemed to promise much more than it delivered - it could have been great, but I just couldn’t overlook the flaws.

I wanted to enjoy these books more than I actually did.

How Does He Do It?

This guy,Riggs, gets into more serious trouble than Dennis the Menace ever dreamed of. Then again, Dennis never had a space ship. I don't know how he gets out of the jams he gets into. How does he do it? But that's part of the charm of the story. Be it women, aliens, space ships, missiles, lazers, or even conspiracies, he is somehow able to turn certain defeat into victory. Images of alien life are awesomely descriptive. The story moves right along and almost impossible to put down in anticipation of what happens next. Great story. Thank you Larson and VanDyke.

The final book in the Star Force series was the best in a while. The first set of books that focused on Kyle Riggs was better than the latter set, focusing on his son Cody Riggs. But, the finale nicely brings everything to a close. It provides some resolutions to some long standing mysteries and has some descent action to boot. There are some interesting happenings to some key characters that also make for a nice conclusion. I'll pause on Larson's books for a bit, but I'll definitely try his other series in the future.

I really liked the original 9 star force novels and the wrapping up of the series felt complete and satisfactory, so a restart of the series with the son of our old protagonist as the hero and a new “co-writer” should have warned me off.

These last two novels especially feels messy, lacking of editing and second thoughts and worst of all repetitive.

There’s some interesting ideas and concepts here, but the execution is just messy, floating with inexplicable decisions by our protagonist and loose ends in all directions.

Great but for the very ending

I have enjoyed this entire 12 book series very much. Every book has received between four and five stars. However, I was very disappointed with plot twist at the end. Just seemed abrupt and and fairly unlikely in context with the rest of the story.

Still worth a read, though.

Imaginative and unique!

I adore this series from start to finish. It's full of really interesting characters and interesting situations that you wouldn't have expected them to get into. I honestly think my favorite character is Marvin, and I would love to see a series devoted to him

Great read

If you like science fiction space opera books you'll like this book. There are battles, discoveries made by a smart A.I. /robot.my favorite part is the robot, I just hope the next book has the robot make friends , since he saved everyone so many times. Can't wait for the next book to come out. The next book would be great with Kyle, Cody, and Marvin in it.

Ahhhh, man!

I'm truly sorry the series has ended. I've read them all. I've become attached to the characters, good and bad. I need to know more. Who goes with Cody on his run to destroy the rogue ships? What happens to Hanson? Kwan? Sakura? I need answers, man!

Good finish to this set of episodes.

I liked the continuing development of the characters including the quirky robot Marvin. Entertaining series. Interesting side stories that will lead to future episodes are always included.

Another one down

Good ending answering major questions but leaves some room for continuation..

My only beef and this is with most scifi... Is stop explaining everything as if this was the first book. Assume reader has read earlier books or put in a glossery

It was an enjoyable read..

The story is fairly straight forward adventure. The characters are simple and predictable, but still fun. I enjoyed the original series more than this one

I wish there was more

This is the last book in the series of adventures of Kyle and Cody Riggs. These Star Force books are pure entertainment. My only complaint is that I'm done. I suppose I could go back to the beginning and re-read.

Good, interesting, fast moving

A good mixture of space opera, romance, military action, with plots and subplots. All intertwined and staying reasonably fresh. Good mix of characters, too.

Rushed ending.

It was a great series. It did keep me hooked until this last book, but the last 5 or so chapters seemed completely rushed and the ending was very anticlimactic.

Waiting for more Cody stories

Great story telling. Would love for ten thousand year old Marvin to escape the ancients and share their technology with the rest of the galaxy.

Demon star opens interesting doors

Nice rendition of Kyle/Not Kyle Cody Riggs and his adventures with new aliens and the ancients. I’d like to see the authors pursue a plot where conflict is not just biotic vs. inorganic, but more about individuality and the trust earned from behavior.

Loved this series and really wish there was more. Just one more stargate and see what is beyond and to build. I loved the series with his dad's character Kyle, but Cody is definitely interesting to follow. The main character always succeeds through something impossible but not sure I mind it. I think a great series of aliens and cultures has been built and interesting to see how they interact. Plus, the nannite ships are fun to read about. It is almost like a book written about "what if" you could use legos to build starships. The level of detail of the description is excellent too. I can definitely picture the things are built in my mind. Only gripe about the series is the writing of women characters is awful. They are depicted as being these jealous groupies almost and the way the men interact with them is almost caveman like. Only a small step up from Burrough's (who I love) depiction of male/female interactions a 100 yrs ago. Otherwise, I loved the novel and would read anything written in this Universe for sure.

This is the completion of the Cody Riggs Trilogy. After escaping what they assumed were the ancients, Cody and crew find themselves in a system with two life forms. One that lives in the atmosphere of a gas giant like the Blues and the other appears to be human, perfect in every way. They find these two species in a war with what appear to be bugs. In the process of defending the two species, they find the ones that appear human are not what they appear and the real cause of the war is because of an ancient. And the ancient is not in any way what they expect.

I have found all B. V. Larson books a must read.
