Caveman 3

Rate this book
Not your typical love story... not your ordinary hero... Having crash-landed in the past and survived a volcano, Janet and the others are reunited with Chief Marro’s tribe, seeking shelter at the winter cave. After a streak of light passes over in the night sky, Janet and Phil investigate, finding evidence of a plane crash, people having come through time, but they all perished. The government has begun a time travel initiative, although it’s a suicide mission. Archaeologist Amy Sandhurst is appalled to discover this, but her curiosity propels her to want to be a part of the team, although this worries her fiancé, Brian Lutz. After Janet gives birth, the clan travels to Marro’s decimated homeland, finding the rest of his tribe enslaved by a savage, cannibalistic culture. However, this may be the least of their worries, because modern man has, somehow magically appeared… having come through time.

Kloss' Caveman series was surprisingly fun. I expected it to be all sex and very one-dimensional, but the writing is better than I anticipated. The premise is that a plane filled with models and photographers headed to a photo shoot gets in an electrical storm, travels through time, and ends up in a caveman era wherein the surviving models depend on caveman mates to survive, and the surviving older woman and lone male photog must prove they are still of worth in a culture where older equals barren, and photography cannot compare to hunting. The trilogy also follows the present-day efforts of archeologists (and Janet's fiance too) who seek clues as to what happened to Janet's plane and crew thousands of years ago.

What surprised me: The primitive people are more nuanced than I expected. The dialogue between the modern-day survivors is great. And I found Janet's mates to be endearing...and hot.

What could have used more work: The covers and titles of the series make the books seem like lighter reads than they actually are. They should have gone for a more dignified vibe, like Shay Savage's Transcendence. Also, the ending few pages seemed rushed a bit in Caveman 3.

Different

Different but entertaining. Not as realistic as the other caveman books I've read but like I said it's entertaining. The series is worth your time.

Caveman 3: Time Travel

*This may contain spoilers from the first two books.

At the end of book 2, Janet was in complete, sorrowful mourning over Gundre’s death and she was very pregnant. Chief Marro and his remaining band of survivors find Pattahunda’s small tribe in their wintering mountain cave. Chief Marro is beyond happy to have found Janet & the tribe, but at the same time, is mad at Janet for running away from him with Gundre, during the volcano eruption.

But as Spring comes, the nomadic tribe goes on the move again. Chief Marro wants to check on his previous home site at Three Rivers. Janet and the other white people know that there will be nothing but ruins and that there is almost no probability of any other surviving tribes people. However, Chief Marro is determined and is determined to find more of his people.

Upon noticing something flaming streaking through the sky, Janet & Phil set out to investigate what it may be. It was another airplane, but everyone on board died, and from the looks of it, the people weren’t traveling for pleasure.

In the future/modern day, Amy and Brian are starting to come a long way in their relationship. Amy is still an archaeologist but is planning to transfer to a college in Colorado to teach where she will be able to live with Brian. But when they find out the government is sending people to the past, they are shocked and astonished. But more so, they are worried that the other may want to go to the past, each for separate reasons.

I really enjoyed the conclusion, though it did seem fairly quick after the final big hurrah. But I was left satisfied. I wish that there was more from this series, but am quite fine with how it ended.

Great writing. Interesting plot

This is the third book in a series. You need to read them from the beginning.
The story has lots of twists I didn't expect. Kept me thinking back to the story all day. Couldn't wait til the end of work so I could see what happened next. It did end a little abruptly but it had a happy ending.

Few typos
Funny dialogue
Well written
Interesting plot line.
Not too steamy.
