Hetty Fox has begun to enjoy her life in rural Illinois, even though her ghost, and cat, and an occasional dead body continue to give Hetty fits. This time it’s a corpse in the attic that comes with its own special twist. It’s dried out nearly beyond recognition.

But its discovery also leaves Hetty with a son-in-law facing scrutiny from her favorite detective. How can she not try to help her daughter’s husband? He is, after all, the father of her only two grandsons.

The things we do for love

Another great read (needs a bit of proofing) and a plot that spanned years. I must admit that my gut feeling re the culprit was right - nothing to go on but just a feeling. The characters are now becoming larger than life and really make the plot come together. From the possessive, over protective ghost to our down to earth snoop.
When a new neighbour moves in, she is as shocked as the woman to see a mummified body in a trunk that has been left in the attic. The identification names her as her son-in-law's aunt and he moves to the umber one spot as a suspect. She's never really gotten close to him but now she does what she can to clear his name. Finding out more about the dead woman is a priority. A family that never hugs, old loves, new loves, another murder quarrels with a ghost and a suspicion. Can she get the police to go along with her plan and catch the killer of two women?

Hetty is on the job again!

An exciting cozy mystery! Hetty has recently moved to a small town in Illinois to be nest her daughter and grandsons. Her next door neighbors have also recently moved there too. One morning during a bad rainstorm her neighbor runs over to get her help. She has discovered a mummified body in a trunk in her attic. When the body turns out to be related to her son-in-law and he is suspected of murder, Hetty feels called to investigate. As she is new in town she winds up meeting and talking to a lot o people as she tries to figure this very old murder. Great characters and a convoluted plot keeps your interest until the very end.

Hetty was blissfully knitting. While her ghost Andrew had a list of improvements. With Blackie the cat should be put out at night, and that would help slim him down. With that Blackie glared at Andrew. As for the ghost, it was an old love, that died too soon, if if was my imagination, one should of been to get along with my cat. A neighbor found something dried in a truck in her attic and it was a mummified body. A disgruntled woman in knitting group. The charm of this is the bantering between the ghost Andrew and Hetty. Cute story

Great writing. Poor editing.

I loved the storyline, the characters, the twists and turns, and the family dynamics woven throughout this story. My only problem with it is the awful editing. There are so many mistakes it was distracting to me. There are double words, phrases repeated, spacing issues. I managed to work past that to read the whole thing and I'm glad I did.

Hetty works her magic but

What a let down. So many grammatical errors that made the story frustrating to read. Editing should have been prior to putting the book up to be read. Most disappointing.

A likeable older widowed woman living with the Ghost of her High-School sweetheart solves a decades old murder. Fairly short and written in a straight forward manner this was an easy read and the characters seemed like people I would like to know for the most part. The exception being one really mean spirited woman in her knitting group. I enjoyed this and would read more in the series.

It was an okay book. To me it got confusing trying to remember who was related to who all the time. The book had a few mispelled words or errors in it.

Fantastic!

I don't know which I like more, the mystery or the relationship between Hetty and her ghost. This is really a great series. Can't wait for the next book.
