‘Survival isn’t always pretty, but it is always magnificent.’
Peace Dove has spent their whole life preparing to be the perfect Ornamental. They can play any instrument put in front of them, they’re demure and elegant, they know their place. Now it’s their 20th year and their presentation into Ornathasian society is looming. Dove is a class straddler, they could be an Ornamental or Fowl, and the fate of their family depends on the king’s decision. Dove needs to find a ringer if their family is to keep their home, and a Fowl cannot be given a ring.
Upon arriving at the palace, Dove realises that finding a ringer might be the least of their worries. The royal magister, Vulture, seems intent on enlisting Dove’s help to protect the king from an invisible enemy, and the magic they’ve spent years suppressing is once again rearing its head.
Featherfall is a gothic, gaslamp fantasy perfect for fans of Jane Austen, Tasha Suri, and Silvia Moreno-Garcia.
